One day, I fell into the river and drowned. The God of River looked at me, and said: “You’re very brave, young one, so let me give you a mother as a reward. Would you like a golden-haired big-breasted elf mother with an extreme yandere personality, or a black-haired big-breasted sadistic human mother with a tsundere personality?” Me: “I choose… your mom, dammit! What I really want is to quickly reincarnate!!” The God of River smiled at me: “You are a honest lad indeed, so let me gift you both mothers. From now on, you will have two mothers!” Me: “Did you even listen to what I said?!”

Typical steaming-pile-tier Chinese webnovel.

Not saying that Chinese webnovels are all steaming-pile-tier, but when they ARE steaming-pile-tier, they're next-level steaming-pile tier.

The novel is so inconsistent with its own logical framework that it makes you want to punch the author in the head repeatedly for his crimes against literature.

I can accept the MC being a weak-assed herbivore cowering in his own urine before his overbearing mothers, had he been yet another stereotypical spineless teen that usually gets swept up in these affairs, but the MC was a bloody SOLDIER-- a trained military... more>> man previous to the Chinese equivalent of getting Truck-kun'd. Now that he's in the body of a half-elf simp so depressingly spineless he'd make Shinji look like someone that eats Brock Lesnars for breakfast. Or maybe I'm mistaken and according to the author of the novel, the PLA consists soft-assed manginas who delight in getting cornholed while having a woman's foot on the back of their neck.

The two mothers aren't any better.

Let's face it, you probably decided to read this story to get titilated by the in*estual subtext or whatever-- bad news, there's no subtext, and it's painful to read. Elf moms practically r*pes MC on a nightly basis, Human moms would love to but she's a nutcase who takes out her unresolved s*xual tensions on her son by mu*dering her servants on a daily basis.

So yeah, a pretty disturbing read. Says a lot about the author, and what it says about the author is that he needs a stay at a sanitarium to work through whatever unresolved mommy issues he may have, and not inflict them in the form of bad storytelling on the rest of humanity. <<less

I came into this series looking for something light and easy to read. Something where I don't need my brain to think. You know the kind, the simple easy to understand harems or smut or R18 works and such. But this, this series is surprisingly interesting for more than just the "plot". Sure theres mother-con moments, but at least by the end of vol 1 the mother isn't even the actual love interest for the MC. He has a fiance (at least on the elf side, not sure about human... more>> side as of yet) and he loves her and is dedicated to her. At least for now, not sure how that develops in the future.

Without spoiling anything, as you'll quickly realize, MC is in the original owner's body but although he has "knowledge" of the owner's body, he doesn't actually have the owner's memories. He instinctively understands the feelings that the original owner of the body he has reincarnated into has, with regards to people such as his mom and his fiance for instance, as well as his sense of responsibility and whatnot. MC tries to act upon it and is generally trying to fit in as well, but he isn't some super OP super intelligent character either. He is, for lack of a better word, "normal", thrust into an abnormal situation. Theres no cheats. This in itself is a great part of the story as it allows the side characters to actually play a part other than just being the peanut gallery "coughing blood" at MC's amazingness or going "sugoi!!!", as many other series would have them do.

Do give this series a go, its pretty great! TL'er is good too, its easy to understand, and its frequently updated! <<less

Pretty much everyone went into reading this because of the title of the novel, but instead got kicked in the nuts. Let's be honest, I started reading this because I wanted to see some in*est milf action, but what I got is a protagonist with below 50 I.Q who is the weakest character in the series and doesn't have any backbone, he is like your typical isekai Japanese protagonist who gets treated like sh*t by everyone except his mums who fantasize him as their husband because his face looks like... more>> their dead husband and that's the majority of the plot.

-If I have to give any credit is that the only thing which remains is consistent is the lack of protagonist's character development, I am at volume 9 and he still relies on others instead of making himself strong, but instead he is still the weakest character in the entire series even after
Spoiler

letting two of his harem members letting die in order to protect this pathetic excuse of a human being and in one of the chapter he even gets r*ped by his own mother and got pregnant and this duffous still doesn't know it

[collapse]
which explains why ratings of this novel tanked hard in the past few days, I swear it was around 4.3 some months ago.

:But the final nail in the coffin and the main reason why I started reading this like I said above to see some milf action, but I was denied from that glory too, as the original author of the series removed all the adult/18+ chapters to maintain the rating of the series, so you won't get any of that except some brief and vague description. If you still want to read this novel take this free advice, whatever you do don't read the comments of the novel. The translator is obnoxious for treating comment section as his personal facebook page and thinks he is above everyone and a guy fantasizing about protagonist's younger adopted sister on every single chapter and it becomes so crazy to the point of him wishing for MC's death or worse NTR and spamming it everywhere so that he can elope with her and the translator and the rest just goes along with him to join his freak show in the comment section and it still going-on to this very day since the start of the novel. <<less

I don't know what to write in a review. This story is so damn bullshit, actually I don't even wanna write a f*cking review about this story but I'll for two reasons that it makes me frustrated to think how bull this story is and to keep other people away from wasting their f*cking time. Our MC in his previous life was a military engineer. So he should have a lot of experience of life which he could utilise in his 2nd life, be overbearing, strong willed but no our... more>> MC is like a ret*rd, a timid hussy.

In elven city he acts like a boss but in human city he acts like a masochist. In human country he is the one and only prince so walkyries should know that If he died and after queen's death their will be no ruler as humans have short lifespan then the country will have no ruler. But no they just want to kill him. They don't care a bit about this b*tch. They consider queen to be their possession not the other way around and our MC he just doesn't have a f*cking backbone. If someone is kind and be kind to them and if someone is a bit*h then f*ck them hard to make them come to their senses. Our MC should be like " you are my mother but I don't feel any motherly feeling from you. You are the queen but why your people rule you. Why walkyries control you. So I'm going back to elves" but our MC is like "oh. Yes your majesty"

f*ck this whole shit. <<less

What I can say.. It disappointed me greatly. First MC.. Is a hypocryte wuss naive idiot. He has two stunningly beautiful mothers yet he denies their s*xual advances becouse its immoral.. Wtf? His father and grandfather banged relatives. Yet he spots about it being immoral. Soldier that is the least soldier like. He speaks about his own weakness yet does nothing to change that. He talks about his own s*upidity, but does nothing to learn from his mistakes. There is s*x but its consored for main character, editor banned author... more>> from writing in*est story. Yet its banned for MC only, all else can shag who they want to. The only thing which might change my mind would be mothers go full s*xual on him, yet that wuss do not take that bait. He talks about morals, yet he is withot them. He talks about not cheating yet is first to cheat. He lost his v card for pity fuk. Seriously? I don't get it.. Its so fuked up plot on so many levels.. MC is the least interesting character of them all. Magic world? Who cares that his mom is demi god of magic. Who cares that his other one is cheat super swordswoman. I will marry that girl, fuk that girl, be a wuss, cry. Etc.. I seriously wanted to kill him most of the time. Next in line would be author and editor. The only one which did a good job was translator <<less

Funny dynamics between characters. The comedy takes center stage while the action is relatively lacking right now. There's a lot of foreshadowing for the MC's personal growth which is something I'm looking forward to. Overall, there's a lot of room for growth for this series and so far it's been good (the MC's personality is weak right now, but it 'll likely change given some time)

I will make it brief because I seriously can't spent too much time explaining this simple novel.

in*est? Nah, that's barely described, currently, the only in*estous mother is the elf milf, who is a demi-god. There was a big war to fight for the MC (both mothers wanted to have him for themselves to they started a war, considering that the elf woman is the ultimate leader of the elf-race due to her demi-god strength and the human woman is respected almost at the point of creating a religion (which happens,... more>> thanks to the MC) In the war, a lot of elf women were r*ped, kids were ens*aved and others were killed, in fact, one of the harem members of the MC is one of the women who were r*ped and ens*aved, he bough her later on, the author spent a lot of time to explain how many times she was r*ped (bangrape, etc) and the guys who rapped her appeared too. The other harem member was almost r*ped (with the enemy's d*ck almost inside her).

The MC is the most weak thing ever seen in any novel, he doesn't have self-respect as he lets everyone insult him or do wathever they want with him (his human mother's subordinates) some of his mother's subordinates were even planning to personally kill him many times.

It's a world of magic and swords, but the MC doesn't care about it and tries to go city-building like the MC of Release That Witch, but this MC is weak in all aspects, a 3rd harem member who was also a s*ave and got r*ped too is the one who helps him to do all the things, and she was scheming against him early in the story too.

As for my biggest complain, the thing that annoys me a lot every single chapter I read when I go to the comment section: The translator is clearly treating comment section as his personal facebook page, he posts there wathever sht he wants and pins it so everyone can see it. I'm going to drop this novel at least until it is completed, the greedy translator has 260 chapters on patreon and there's a chance that they may increase in the future, at this point I wish that Webnovel was translating this novel. <<less

I don't know why there are so many reviews hating on this novel? In my opinion, this is a unique novel that has it's an only little flavor that makes it rather interesting. Sure it can be confusing but you could just ask the translator or scroll down and read the comments and that'll explain some things. As for the MC, he's very realistic, albeit s*upid, but I have seen reviews saying he's weak and I mean come on do you really expect him to be an op character with... more>> a cheat like all those other novels? Also, the other characters have their own screwed up flaws that in my opinion makes it all the funnier. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A NOVEL FOCUSED ON COMEDY AND MAYBE SOME ECCHI!!!! HAVE YOU READ THE TITLE? So if you came here to read about an op character who has s*x with everyone while taking over the country with his amazing mind powers than I suggest you go somewhere else. But if you wanna a novel that contains crazy characters, trust me there is A LOT of them, then this might satisfy your desires. This novel is like a geode, it looks dumb, generic, boring on the outside but if you delve in deep enough you will find a sparkling gem instead. <<less

Really bad writing, plotholes, inconsistency, etc. For example, even though he transmigrated into an existing body, sometimes they treat him like he's completely new and never been there before.

It was like forcing myself to read all this. I finally dropped it and now I seriously don't regret that I did. Should've dropped it sooner.

somewhat unorganized review.

verdict: good series, best isekai I have ever read and unquestionably better than every japanese isekai.

good: strong beginning, strong middle, significant and realistic protagonist growth, interesting side characters, generally good translation, a believable harem (this cannot be emphasized enough).

... more>> bad: weak ending, several unexplored opportunities for character- and world-building.

  • wu jizun is a pretty good translator, perhaps one of the best online; whatever errors he makes are 1. understandable given his massive workload, 2. are usually fixed soon after release
  • despite the above, some will inevitably escape the review process, and while most are innocuous, there were maybe one or two throughout the entire 20 chapters that made me do a double take and wonder what was going on
  • this wouldn't be a problem if the raws were still up, but alas...
  • some translation choices that I would not have personally made; inexhaustive list of examples below
    • "red-robed bishop" in a later volume was almost certainly 红衣主教 in Chinese, but as a native Chinese speaker I can attest that this is always refers to cardinals
    • "imperial city" is used far too commonly for different cities; this becomes most noticeable in vol 19. this would make sense for hilles city and the northern capital, but not for two random coastal city-states
    • the entire nomenclature of royal vs imperial is either wrong or confused for the most part; if humanity has an empire then it stands to reason that hilles would be the imperial capital, and duragana would be the royal capital of the elven kingdom, etc. these guidelines apply for every instance of such words (having the raws would clarify)
the first thing I should note is that negative reviews with reading progress in the first two volumes are basically garbage. no one skimming the reviews to get a feel for the series should pay any serious attention to them, for what I hope are self-explanatory reasons. even if the series were not as long as it is, and despite his powerlessness, the protagonist does fairly well for himself in the first volume. it simply isn't the action hero type of doing well, which shallow/mindless reviewers and readers think equates to cowardice and uselessness. I am uncertain how the average reviewer thinks someone in mc's position would behave under the circumstances, but I know those reviewers themselves would probably be pissing themselves. bottom line: have realistic expectations, and you will perceive the world to be a better place (whether on the internet or reality)

i will admit to starting the series because of the absolutely ridiculous title, but I'm certain I'm hardly the only one to do so. the title does not do the series justice. now, good in this case means: this is perhaps the best straight isekai type i've read, and better than literally every other japanese isekai without a shadow of a doubt. this includes personal favorites like overlord, konosuba, fate/zero and hakomari. I think the only light/web protagonist that develops even remotely as well as troy does is kazuki from hakomari (as much as I love f/z, literally only one character got any development), and the stakes for kazuki are so remarkably low compared to troy's that it leaves far less of an impact.

in this series, with its cartoonishly sensationalistic name, troy first encounters real tragedy as early as the third volume, and the events thereof have reverberations throughout the entire series. closely related is an event in the eighth volume; the combined influence of these two events are key to understanding how troy becomes a worthy king. for those who want to drop the series after the eighth volume's events: don't do it. you owe it to that character to continue, and the final resolution of that plot point doesn't come for another 7 volumes. yes, troy does eventually become super powerful... but that comes at just about the last bits of the story, we don't really get to enjoy too many moments of god level troy, and it is incredibly deserved. here we have a protagonist whose s*upid mistakes actually have consequences, something the story drills into the reader super early on. every moment of tension is real. it's hard to find that these days.

also, I appreciate troy for not being the bone-headed ret*rd that most protagonists are with regard to s*x. holy shit was this a breath of fresh air. once the japanese stop being afraid of s*x and leaving everything up for cuckbait. perhaps there will be fewer ichikas in the future, but if even super-manly protagonists like basara from shinmai (in early volumes) have s*upidly contrived circumstances preventing them from doing the deed, and s*upid authors create premises that ooze with fanservice but just barely fall short of penetration, there is basically no hope for less chickensh*t mcs. ainz can kill 70k people as a mana cost but can't bone albedo. just think about how absurd that is.

with that said, if you're here for the s*x you can probably leave now. it happens maybe twice a volume and descriptions are not particularly detailed. the s*x is not the selling point of this series at all. in fact, this series has what may be the first ever fictional instance I have ever encountered of female-on-male gang r*pe portrayed as a complete negative (and, in the same volume, a typical ntr plot but with the roles of the typical old fat guy/hot girl genderswapped). but yes, the series lives up to what we deviants were thinking when we read the title. troy does bone both elizabeth and vyvyan, but christ does it feel like it's deserved (i hope anyone reading this wasn't s*upid enough to imagine this being a spoiler). vol 17.5 is basically the matrix if oedipus were neo.

i think one of the key things to understand here is the sheer extent to which this series is steeped in Chinese values/culture. as a Chinese man with a similar military background to the MC, I found myself agreeing with basically everything troy says in his inner monologue about protecting his family, the use of power, or how to govern. now, some things he says and thinks about economics are really s*upid, but like troy himself mentions, he didn't take economics courses as part of his military engineer training. rosvenor's political system is basically Imperial China without eunuchs or huge clans, and the whole parents taking precedence over wives idea is deeply rooted in confucianism. this is probably entirely alien to westerners or those coming from jp fiction in particular - whereas most modern Chinese people still value family significantly, both extended and nuclear, jp media in this realm of anime/manga/light novels/what have you is almost exclusively made by single men for single men. urban living in tokyo or one of japan's other major cities is as lonely as it gets.

also had some hearty laughs wherever troy mentioned marxism, dialectical materialism, and all that fun stuff - partly due to the sheer absurdity of it. I think you would be hard pressed to find a similar work of fiction wherein the MC is thinking about the workers' empowerment and crushing the capitalists in a parallel world. you don't have to take any of the marxism stuff seriously by any means, but it goes a long way to show you that this protagonist isn't just the faceless self-insert wish fulfillment loser popularized by the first big wave of shitty light novels. troy has a personality and it's great.

2.5/5 stars, dropped to 2 here because it definitely doesn't deserve a 3 in my opinion.

I'll start by saying the translation quality is excellent and if you're just reading to kill time and like Chinese web novels, you won't regret reading it. If you want compelling plot, well-developed characters, or intriguing world setting, I'd recommend going elsewhere.

"But Fluffums, that's just, like, your opinion."
The story takes almost 75 chapters to establish that the elves and their country are completely standard for... more>> elves that you'd find in any JP setting, the human kingdom is completely standard kingdom that you'd expect from any Chinese author writing a JP isekai story, the protagonist is a beta JP protagonist, the one mother is yandere, and the other mother is tsundere a killing machine who only seems to have emotions when it comes to her son, and her way of expressing those emotions is also through killing. Less tsundere, more mass-murderer.
Okay, to be perfectly fair, I shouldn't just complain that it's standard JP isekai, and judge it on its own merits. Well, the characters are one-dimensional. The mothers have actually two dimensions if you add the "_dere son-con" part to "queen of ___ country" so there's hope for improvement, I guess. The first two novels are basically prologues. ~75 chapters of prologue, which can easily be condensed down to about a paragraph or two total without losing anything because the only original part of the story is "MC has two mothers that hate each other". *Cough* there I go complaining about how generic it is again.

The world setting is typical isekai with typical idiots in power - drawing on both JP and CN cliches so it can be padded even more, you'll see all the scenarios you know and love, that only the MC can solve despite being s*upid, dense, and cowardly. No, his personality isn't really those three things, he just acts that way constantly. Because god forbid having a CN protagonist be anything other than a hypocrite.

*cough* So anyway, if you've only read JP, you might see it as a fresh take on a familiar setting (just slow and not heartwarming), and if you've only read CN, you might find the JP-style isekai and MC refreshing compared to the usual mu*derhobos (but everyone else he interacts with is a mu*derhobo so he quickly just looks weak and cowardly). <<less

Oh boy... I thought this would have some good plotting and funny moments between the Milfs but... No The MC is SOOOOOO ret*rdED. The military background is just there as a filler and his knowledge about military weaponry is s*upid hell he only thought about cutting instead of penetration against the dragons!! Like wtf? You say he has military training and a weapons specialist of something and he doesn't know how to pierce a dragons scale until some envoy says you need to penetrate the scale with something that is... more>> heavy, and with enough force 3-4 times the strength of a average bow? After read 2 volume I could say it is no a single clue to be tag in*est for this novel at all unless you count something similar CPR is romance (and I won't count it's in*est unless he insert it into them too) ; story about 2 over love mother that seem love their child too much but they just has too much power so story go around their over use power to grain their child love while totally cruel to the rest of being; oh, you won't see... more>> funny scene like mother try to kiss her son and he run away while try to hold his moral, nothing funny like that happen in this novel.

MC's personal is so-so, nothing much to talk about, nothing much to remember; other character is very forgetable, after read 2 volume I only remember that fat arms dealer merchant.

Conclusion, A disappointment story that not what I image before read, it's like try to watch Looney tunes in serious tone, if you want to read about MC outsmart in politic/military, I won't recommend this novel, it's so-so. <<less

I was pretty pumped when I saw the whole dual son-con moms thing, because I really like the idea of that, but the story is very different from what I expected. First of all, the conversation in the blurb (which I found really funny, and which is what made me start reading) never happens in the story. It's not what the story's tone is like, either. Secondly, I had high hopes for the humour/romantic tension between the MC and his hot yandere / tsundere reincarnation moms, but the MC actually... more>> falls in love with his childhood friend. The mom bits are fun and the childhood friend would be great in another story, but given how I came for some mom love I can't help but be bummed out by this. Thirdly, the pace of the story is a bit on the slow side. The MC spends a lot of time dwelling on relationships and taking small steps that are repeatedly interrupted by minor incidents. For example, there's a threat hanging over everyone's head, but it takes quite a while for the MC to actually address it directly. We just see him doing small things in preparation here and there. Eventually I lost interest. It's a solid story but I suppose whether you like it or not depends on what you want out of it. I didn't get what I was pumped about and this amounts to 3/5 stars for me (6/10). <<less

If you have a high curiosity about that in*estuous sounding title and you are highly expecting to read some lemon there then you're intuition is probably less than right. These two mothers are of the respectable adults with a regal bearing of quasi-deity queen and a divine empress, both responsible adult which are also extreme and lovable.

In the beginning, the story progresses like it doesn't have any aim and the main character only have lofty goals (even now from what I've read so far) so all tensions and excitement are... more>> lacking in substance. Given with this poor MC, it's also, in a sense he got a lot of potentials of future development and the way I see it, he is now incrementally being shape up to be a mature hero in this different world.
Spoiler

It's kinda sad that his only talent is his courage and designing modern firearms.

[collapse]

In conclusion for now, my biggest point about this novel is that it's very first volume lacks ambition but with a good world building structure. And the most notable part of this novel is it's characters, so once you've read more characters introduced, especially on the next volumes, that's when this novel shines more.

Lastly, I don't know how well is this translated since I've only read the English version. But to comment at it, Lord Obsidian's grammar is very decent. <<less

This novel seems to receive a lot of hate for having a "weak" and "cowardly" MC, however, I think that this type of MC fits the setting well but I wouldn't use the terms weak or cowardly to define this novel as bad and I will explain in the following points why.
    1. He is an ordinary person who works as a technician for the military and has parents who also works for the military, he drowns while saving a child and is transported to another world, there you go you now have a set up for an isekai novel. After being transported to another world he receives no "cheats" or "power-ups" so of course he can be considered weak especially since he has to go up against magic and a whole bunch of other things.
    1. He is cowardly for lack of a better term because he is not a field soldier, he is a technician working for the military although he is in the military and received training he will not be as brave, calm and decisive when facing something. He is not bloodthirsty and has never killed before so you can't expect when suddenly being moved to a world and place he has never been to go all macho man and turn into some god of killing everything... more>> that he does not like.
    1. As of volume 2 he has been in the world about a month (forgive me if I remember wrongly I set the novel aside to build up chapters to binge at the end of volume 2) and people are complaining that the MC that has no special cheats or powers and could build up some confidence and finally feel somewhat comfortable in this new world becomes worse than before but the reasons why he is no longer as confident are so obvious it annoys me that they dropped it over this, he is forced to head over to the human territory. Now it is completely within reason that the MC would lose confidence because he is forced out of his newly found comfort zone, he has been in this world for only about a month and he has no cheats or powers to keep himself safe but people expect him to be some God and ignore the possibility of being killed or other bad things happening.
Now this novel has some good and bad points and ultimately it is down to your own taste however personally I feel that this MC is a lot more relatable than many other isekai protagonists and I hope that you can at least give this novel a chance and not toss it aside after the first few chapters and try to get through the first volume before deciding whether it is worth your time or not.

TL;DR

Try it out and if it doesn't suit your tastes as a novel that is too bad however at least try it out because I believe it is a worthwhile novel. <<less

I just love this novel, it have a bit of "japanese flavor" for the worldbuilding and the MC at the start shares the same ideals than in our world but as the plot furthers (yes there is a plot, and I'm not only talking about those huge melons of his two mums) , the MC personality and beliefs changes.

He becomes more mature, starts to adapt to the world he is in and will slowly change. There is an actual worldbuilding here unlike many novels, so far charas that are... more>> introduced have a role and are not forgotten midway.
It's probably not the best story I ever read but I still love this one, it's not because you ate foie gras that you can't like Peking duck.

I think that most people who cl**ked here came for the "Son-con" part *cough*, there is no need to deny it *cough*, many people came here for that after all.
There will probably be some snusu later, I don't know but well there are some kisses and some le*d moments so far.
Well if you came here only for some snusu, you'll find out that the story have more than that and the story have good things to offer, I'm looking forward to read more, I heard that there are 17 volumes so far so I really hope to read more and see how things evolve. <<less

Gets really painful to read. I don't mind weak MC or dark story, but this kind of loser MC that doesn't even seem to improve is really hard to read. It just gets painful because MC is so pathetic, its not about his strengths but attitude. And author really likes to highlight his weakness of character. Also everyone is just s*upid.

And I'm at v3 already. I'm pretty close to just stopping. I mean c'mon who can find this enjoyable to read. (I'm pretty sure someone can, but still)
