Elza, a duke's daughter, is single at 28 because she prefers to spend her time working and researching at the university. Her childhood friend Luca (also 28) is the most eligible bachelor in the country; unfortunately, he's gynophobic and is tired of being ardently pursued by women. So one day he asks Elza to be his pretend lover

There are only a few chapters out, but I honestly feel that it will be a sweet story. MC is smart and level-headed. I love how instead of immediately agreeing to the ML's... more>> request, she asks what she would get in return. The ML promises to fund her research. The ML is really sweet. In fact, he says quite a few times, that he wouldn't mind marrying Elza. Unfortunately, our MC doesn't take him seriously when he says stuff like that, so she kinda just ignores him when he says stuff like that. This novel does suffer from some of the cliches and troupes of J-romance novels but I ignored them since I'm sick of arrogant, r*pey males leads. I would rate it 3.5 stars.

So in conclusion, I really like this story and will be looking forward to the updates ^_^. <<less

Only one reason to read this, and that is the cute interactions between the two lead characters, otherwise stories like these are a dime a dozen, though this one is definitely less r*pey than some of the Chinese ones you can find. The characters besides the two leads are forgettable, the main female MC has three sisters but she might as well have one, because they all have the same reaction to every situation. The way they present the main female MC is a little random to, she comes from... more>> a cultured family, but always presents herself as uncultured, and always needing help in that category, (they really ram that home) She has family married to royalty, but she pretends to be the male MC's girlfriend for money, she debates and interacts with men all the time, but she plays the damsel in distress when the male MC is around, anyway the amount I ranted shows how much I liked it, but like I said these series are one-shot wonders. <<less

I love this one...

it is a somewhat simple with moderate pace story.

I really like how the author keeps the story going after they married, and the MC give birth XD
overall I recommend this to those who like a simple heartwarming romance~

I don't really like Jap novels unless its smut but this is actually pretty good. Cliche, but cute. Something for the soul. Very warm, kind of slow burn but the interaction of MC and ML are very very cute <3

I didn't like the conversations, they felt stiff. Add to that the author plugging in some morals through Elsa, making her, her fiancé and some other characters complete goody two-shoes. Their whole environment behaved so... involved, accommodating to the main characters, unrealistically so. Overall, it gives a very unnatural feeling

Because of this, I don't feel like the relationship is developed all that well. There were no witty conversations, the first dates weren't interesting, there were no moments where I was melting away. The bonding moments where they help each other... more>> or whatever didn't do it for me either.

Lastly, I think the author botched the wonderful little tropes he started the novel off with. The transition into a couple was too easy; a little more resistance from her detached, scholarly side would've been interesting. What gynophobia? It didn't even play that large of a role, it could've just as well been a normal male noble trying to escape an arranged marriage or something.

In short, this novel isn't that well written or thought out. I'm not feeling the fluff. It's... meh. Painfully average. It's not that difficult to find better fluff, whether it's in JP or CN. Yes, CN has fluff without bothersome male leads, something some other reviewers can't imagine. <<less

This was a decent heartwarming story, but I cannot recommend it to anyone that wears glasses and is the least bit self-conscious about it. The MC needs glasses (to the point that she cannot recognize people without them), and wears them mostly, but people don't let her wear them when she gets dressed up for social events. The way it is written makes me think that the author does not think glasses are attractive, or they find glasses to be actually detrimental to looks.

Making someone be essentially helpless for something... more>> so petty is horrible. <<less

A very sweet and natural love story about two people who have always been together but took a little while longer to finally realise they love each other. The flow is rather slice of life like and there's good communication between the couple, the story extends into their married life and is overall a light and fluffy read with likeable characters.

The premise was promising, but the writing itself is like a piece of stale toast - completely lacks any flavor, and the characters have less depth than a piece of cardboard. The more I read, the less I rooted for main couple, so I just dropped it.

2 for the idea + 1 for the writing = 3 stars.

It definitely wasn't the worst thing I've read, it's not even that bad, but at least for me it's unbearably boring.

Short, sweet - I like how the two leads interact. They talk to each other and listen, and take the time to genuinely get to know each other. They're both career-driven people who end up easing slowly into a sweet, wholesome relationship of equals, and that's a beautiful thing.

Spoiler

As the title says the ML has gynophobia and the FL is eccentric. The thing about this novel is that the author is telling a lot of details out of a sudden and always repeats them (I saw rebuke, rebuked, this word like 99x times in the 1-15 chapters). For example, Elsa has no fashion, Elsa doesn't see with her glasses at the party so she doesn't recognize most of the people (why is she forced to not wear glasses, it's like the author despises glasses). The ML is gynophobic, and because of that, the FL who he has treated as a "friend" doesn't feel his problem towards her. They pretend to be sweethearts cause ML is requested to get married and asks FL for this pretend to escape for the gynophobic problem, but later are quite manipulated to get married.

The ML falls in love with the FL earlier from the time they were friends (tell me about their past or POV, nope it doesn't tell, in the late chapter it does of why he goes to FL's study) and the only one where he doesn't feel gynophobic towards her.

The FL realizes she fell in love with ML with the fact that he was around her for a lot of period of time and "subconsciously" got into history faculty (a reason from the author in the late chapters)

The reasonable acts of why he/she does/did this why he/she is like this are so out of a sudden with no experience in the past and stiff. Like even the FL's family and ML's family acted according to a script.

In short, I don't recommend it that much only if you are to pass time with something and turn your brain off with the plot showing itself to make FL and ML so cool characters.

I simply love this. It's a story about childhood friend turn into lover. MC and ML are both so cute. Both are from the duke's house and they are also smart and outstanding.

I love how MC is so different from other MC that I've ever read in aristocracy novel genre. She chooses to be a scholar although she knows that it's uncommon for noble lady in her era to do so. And ML is so accommodating. He loves MC as she is and doesn't forbid her to do what she... more>> likes even after their marriage.

But there is one thing that I find annoying in this story.

Spoiler

It's about how everyone around MC prevent her to wear a spectacle when she attends social events even though they know that she couldn't see clearly without it. Yes, that's including ML.

It's a typical shoujo type of a novel. Nothing noteworthy but it was cute and fluffy. I got my sugar and I'm satisfied.

Spoiler

I hope there's a spin off for MC's younger brother and her student.

its a slow paced fluffy romance story, a nice short read and will make you giddy afterwards.

its more of a slice of life without much drama, and with adult MCs. The story itself is pretty simple but the main selling point for this series is the interactions of the main couple

It's a pretty simple story but it's quite lovely in that sense. Very fluffy, straight forward and sweet. Like, you'd read this after a tragedy/angsty novel to cleanse your palate. It's short and sweet.

This is a warm and quiet slow-paced romance between school friends turned adult partners. It starts off as a partnership of mutual interest between a cool-hearted lady scholar who needs funds and a rich young lord who's scared of all women except her. But slowly, through mutual support and understanding, what begins as a fake romance turns real. If you like slice-of-life, character-based romances within a network of family and friend relationships, then this story is for you. Translation quality is very good, and although the translation speed is not... more>> as fast as others, it has been pretty consistent so far. Looking forward to see how this story develops! <<less
