The protagonist has reincarnated into the body of the capture target’s dying younger brother in the fantasy ADV otome game, “Trickster Dreams in the Mirror.”

Though the sickly protagonist regains the memories of his former life, his personality did not carry over. This is the story of a supporting character whose only role was to die, breaking flags so that he may struggle to live even a little longer. As a result, this is a story of a slightly different flag that was broken.

Okay, first of all, the story itself is fine. There are just things that I am not a fan of, like at the ending part of the novel which I feel like the author can do better.

Spoiler

Also, the novel's concept or plot revolves on the topic of dreaming illness. I also like it that the MC and the ML talks about their misunderstandings which makes it not so dramatic like other novels.

[collapse]

Honestly, I was really affected about the reviews that I have read about the novel. Mostly, the reviews are 2-3 stars. There are 4-5 but those low scores really made me want to abandon the story because I thought that it's not good.

You might not want this type of plot but the story is not that bad, I encourage others to try and read it yourself.

Spoiler

The smutty scenes are a lot but not too detailed. 🤣🤣

Overall this story was a short, cute read, but honestly it was kinda lackluster. All the cute interactions with MCs family/friends that happened in the beginning disappeared. Interactions with the ML were limited and lacked depth. The ending especially lacked any real spark, as soon as I finished reading I just kinda felt unsatisfied.

The sexy scenes as well were unsatisfying because they mainly happened between MC and two others, neither of whom are the ML, and the MC seemed really OOC during most of them. I really wanted to love... more>> this novel because it was an interesting concept and started out as a really cute story, but it lost itself halfway through and ended abruptly. It is a happy ending, yet I somehow I wasn’t satisfied at all.

Overall, read this if you have spare time but don’t expect a lot of cute/sexy interactions between the MC and ML. There’s not a lot of depth to the story so go in with moderate expectations. <<less

This novel is the embodiment of everything I like. It has the reincarnated into another world (the otome game), shounen ai, a bit of smut and just so many other genres. Honestly wasn't sure about this one at first but it takes the cake of the most enjoyable light novel I've read thus far. If you're debating whether to read this or not just do it.

An "eh" title for me, but not "meh". It's really just a quick fix that you can read in 1-2 sitting sessions. Or while waiting for another page to load.

The smut makes more sense if you're used to read manga or listen to drama CD, as most of it is situational rather than plotty. The setting is there to keep the arc from start to finish, but I won't say that it's solid. I actually quite like the heroine's arc, but the depiction seems a bit too careless. While I... more>> didn't buy the main pairing's development, the side pairing's unassuming (?) progress is what I live for, lmao.

Read it for the light smut and a refreshing way to solve that sudden magic disease in your body. ;D <<less

It's a smutty BL reverse harem in an Otome game.

The theme?/plot?/concept? is quite interesting - kinda classic but not cliche (I've never really seen one like this).

Spoiler

The MC became the Otome game's protagonist !!! (not literaly but like stealing the protag's plot events?) I know there's some stuffs like this but this one's truly stealing, like if you view everythkng through Otome plotlines it fits perfectly.

[collapse]

Overall it's novel worth reading (narrative is ok, not unbearable like Mob... Sore mo waki mob sthsthsth; translation's not the best but still good; also have multiple POVs. But screw all that it's got SMUT! A lot of SMUT so read it!)

However, a side note: the romance is kinda meh since

Spoiler

1. The male lead is very obvious (though you can still have some expectations on how to settle the harem.

2. The love process/reasons is... (SPOILER ALERT!!)

[collapse]

Spoiler

1. Looks beautiful 2. Fighting illness 3. Behaving like a good normal person (like in contrast to most nobles?)

[collapse]

I was going to give it 4 stars (which translates to 5 since BL......) if not for one decision that the MC made, and if you're like me - meaning if you dislike a thought process of the MC, it destroys a huge amount of the enthusiasm + enjoyment - you're not going to enjoy it as much later on. Though if you can get past this.. (SPOILER ALERT!!)

Spoiler

Well not rlly but - Thr MC has the power to save a friend/love interest (not the male lead thou //probably that's why?) 's little brother who is suffering from the same illness as the MC but chose not to because "it must not be known, for sbdy might have bad intentions on you (MC) " and "you can't cure everyone" kinda flowery world B**S**t...... well for me that just means you don't care about him enough, don't trust him enough, and that your relationship with him does not deserve to be more than a schoolmate (I would not even be friends with a person who chooses to sacrifice a small amount including your brother (so maybe even you) to save a larger amount (w/himself included). Being pressured by people who cares about you still doesn't justify this action (at least for me)

.. you're probably fine. <<less

It's pretty okay if you ask me. The plot is the typical smut plot. Although there's quite minimal amount happening. I kinda wish the author would elaborate more of the plot since a lot of questions are left unaswered. But still the same time certain plot points was resolved.

If I could summarized this story it be a short story with smut as a bonus and it's yaoi. A lot of reviews here already said their piece but give my opinion of this I think it's not that bad. If it... more>> weren't for the author for not expanding and adding a bit smut it be a little boring to be honest. The "lack of common sense" tag really says a lot. Sure there's a bit of sense to the story and a bit of uniqueness and at the very least it's impressionable.

Admittedly the couple between MC and ML made sense but an extra for his butler and research assistant would be a lot nice for an insight on how their interactions developed (although I can imagine it's really different).

There's an effort made by the author giving subtle foresadowing and small information but there are some info or plot reveal that didn't get to be explain properly. The author kinda left it to our imagination or just understanding. Also the world building is kinda there, it's like a fantasy with high technology and still uses medival things such as carriages.

So my final conclusion, it's a read for satisfying your fantasy if it's only for a short while. The translation is okay but to access certain chapters like c5 2&3 also 8 p1 I believe needs to be accessed from their own translation website and if it's from the novelupdates website it won't work. <<less

Reverse-harem vibes, though there is an evident ML. It's a bit hard to read, the plot is boring and the smut doesn't do it for me. Characters are sometimes inconsistent, and I don't really... get them.

It's hilarious that the MC's special ability to help 'treat' the illness is essentially just making them orgasm. Such a hentai setting. (¬‿¬) MC is an S during his 'treatments', but otherwise a delicate doll, it's. just. a. bit. strange...

Over all this is one of the best novels I've read here. Overall, the plot was interesting, and the characters were enjoyable. The p*rn wasn't great, but it didn't take over the story, which is sort of what I had expected.
Spoiler

I feel that the handling of the illness was pretty well done, with the management of symptoms, and physical recovery. I really liked that in the end a cure wasn't possible, but treatment and observation was, as that is often the case with chronic illness in the real world. It was refreshing having a disabled character that wasn't miraculously better at the end.

[collapse]
To end this review, the main character was interesting, the plot was solid, it wasn't to long, and was an enjoyable read.

The MC is likeable, the story isn't deep but easy to enjoy. Also, is good that the MC (Sheryl-kun) is not OP.

Basically the central plot is the disease. It has quite a good amount of smut but is not overbearing, and of course there's drama too.

It's a good story in general (͡°Ɛ ͡°) but I liked more the brother than the prince, honestly xD ah! Also, the ending is good too.

Uhhhh slightly dissapointing lack of plot. The ending was not as fulfilling as it could have been. The story is fast paced, but not too bad of a read overall. Some SMEXY R-18 time in the story. But lack of characteristics in each character. It's good for a short R-18 yaoi web novel series with an otome game as its plot but its really your preferences Twas okie for me.

I just want to say that this novel is really good.

I see that there's some peoples that doesn't like it much for some reason, and I tell you, I understand.

But really, this novel have an actual plot (maybe not by much for others) and the author (plus translator and the editor) execute it greatly. But, I do agree that some of the characters are just to shallow and there's not much chance for them to grow, like, they're just 'there', but I like the MC pretty much.

There's some smut in... more>> the novel, which is
Spoiler

an after effect of the dreaming illness treatment, but if you count it, it actually not by much, and the MC pretty much became an very cool Seme (lol) until the end.

[collapse]

I haven't read the last chapter yet so idk, but it is a great story. I definitely going to read it again one day, and so you might try to read this story once to see if it fills your cup of coffee. It's definitely one that suit my likening thought.

Also, three seems to be some problems to view the chapters in the translator site, so here's the trick: let me give you an example, if chapter 5 part 1 is 'not found', try to go to chapter 5 part 2 and directly go for the chapter (not the translator note one) and change the page website from chapter 5 part 2 to chapter 5 part 1. It will work. Btw, ch 5 part 2 & 3 is 'not found', but on the comments side of the ch 5 part 1, the translator give you the link to both part 2 & 3. It seems like this happen for a lot of link in the translator website thought, so remember this since it will be useful.

And so, thank you for translating this series translator! (P.s. please post ch 18... ;-;) <<less

it's not bad in the early part then it's just went downhill because of one character; the ML, he ruined the story. I don't think he has contribute anything to the story other than being mc's crush and made him ooc (apparently, for some reason, the cool-head MC suddenly turned into 'uwa uwa🥺🤯' girl every time this mf appears), he has no personality, useless and just annoying. I just can't make my self to like him at all...

Spoiler

Other than being a s*xual harasser that he is, bc of his s*upidity, this mf even made MC cried for some shallow reasons. Like what even going on in his head, and yes in the end the one who ended all this sh*t is none other than the MC with this mf being additional burden bruh..

But putting ML aside, I think it's not so bad of a story to read for passing time. The smut part is ok too.

(the translation is not so good though.) <<less

The translation is not the best.

The story could use some improvements, it feels a bit all over the place and a bit sallow but that could also be because of the translation. If you are looking for something groundbreaking I would not personally recommend this, the smut isn’t bad tho. The main character is also likable (tho I might be biased).

Deserves the rating but the plot is kind of messy for me who is still not adjusting to Japanese theme (light novels). Anyway, a good read to pass the time.

More like a 4.5. Well written, interesting route to go about the cliché plot line. The only reason why it isn’t a 5 is that the mid-end to ending was SUPER rushed. It had fleshed out everything, and then ended with bare bones. Still good though.

Not bad. Really this story is not bad at all. I got confused who to who when they have conversation, but it's good. Some novels from japan with yaoi and smut tag don't have balance in the gender, mostly boy. But here, it is balanced well. And the plot? Like it.

According to the reviews I had read I was expecting a lot more smut but the plot was pretty decent. Although their wasnt that much smut the plot progressed very nicely. There weren't many twists and turns to the plot which kept it fairly simple.

So, I read the reviews first before starting the novel so I was expecting "lots of smut" according to most of the reviewers, but I dunno if it's my tolerance/ capacity but there isn't a lot of smut in it for me (like no explicit s*x except for the end but there are a few questionable smutty- yet not so- smutty scenes). ALSO, this novel isn't about smut, IT HAS ACTUAL PLOT AND IT'S DECENT. The ending (ch 18, pt. 2) was kinda of a downer though, I just feel... more>> like such an ending didn't justify the story at all (and what the heck to the topic of their conversation at the very end). <<less

3.5/5 Good for relieving boredom. May struggle with translation but its alright and readable. MC is portrayed as weak, but the rest of himself is enough to make up for it. There is some plot. Some tiny bits will go unexplained. (In*est tag is due to BroCon of MC but MC doesn't feel any special way towards their brother.) The mana logic seemed indecipherable until explained by MC. Family loses a lot of scenes. Unsatisfied/disappointed because the one important and would-be-satisfying face slapping did not happen and instead went a... more>> peaceful route. The ending blue balled me. (If all you want is smut, its fairly easy to skim over everything else.) <<less

The MC in this novel starts out sick, and then we get to follow him through his slow recovery as he deals with rehabilitation, his family, society, studies and research. Although having past memories is relevant, it's not exactly relevant most the time. He doesn't go around "breaking flags" unless you count the fact that he was supposed to have died in the beginning.

I thought it was a good read. While I was confused about a lot of things due to the weird translation, especially technicalities about mana and the... more>> illness itself, I still appreciate the effort and managed to understand it somewhat.

Unlike some others, I didn't particularly mind the parts where the MC gets a little aggressive, and it's not really OOC. He is someone who's obsessed with his research, and very curious in nature.

I was however sad about how some characters were really interesting, but not used after they weren't useful anymore. Like you have this brocon of a brother but as soon as ML gets into the picture, you never hear from him again? And what of his family, who were all loving? After he left for the academy, they were never seen again.

Other than that, I really like how female characters aren't portrayed poorly which is usually the norm - that, or there aren't any female characters around at all.

ML was very plain compared to others. He was just a generic prince character without much of a presence, and it was hard to see their true feelings for each other. I'd rather have more pampering brocon scenes!

The yaoi scenes were, well... the parts without the ML were interesting. He did some fun things for his research and could make others feel pleasure through mana.

Anyway, I liked it, and it's not too long so I can recommend it as an easy-to-read bl novel. <<less
