I got bored reading it a while back at around 100 chapters in and picked it back up recently. Again I am bored of the story and feel like I'd have to force myself to finish it.

It's just kind of plain. The conflicts are shallow. Most of the characters are static. The antagonists are very one dimensional. Whatever attempts at humor the author makes I feel get lost in translation. I don't want to rag on it too much, but it really just isn't a very gripping story.

I can't stand it anymore.
Spoiler

Started out promising but grew to be repetitive because the author decided to have an airhead as the MC. MC's s*upidness lead to her being kind and because of that, she dug MANY holes for herself.

At one point, after MC reincarnated as a jade, I wanted her to die and reincarnate as something/one better. This was the most frustrating to read so I had to stop because she did not learn anything from her past experiences, thus creating more problems for herself. I would not be surprised if she lost some brain cells at this point because I know I definitely did.

MC also relies on her master aka ML a lot which wouldn't annoy me so much if she actually learned and grew from his teachings. The only thing that changed, though, is cultivation status.

Although there were many plot twists and the like, it felt expected because of course if the MC doesn't experience successive problems then the story would have not been dragged on for so long.

The story most probably could have ended around chapter 200, but like most other cnovels authors, the author decided quantity is better than quality.

This would have been a good read if not for the MC's s*upidness and tendency to look for trouble. Many of the problems MC faced could have been avoided if she was not so s*upid and a pushover. I'm astonished she even got so far at this point.

I had a lot of fun reading nearly 200 chapters, but then dropped it while being frustrated, bcs:

While the plot progresses (which isn't really motivating to continue reading by itself), the characters don't. They stay the same, make the same jokes. The clumsy master always get's his disciple accidentally in unfavorable situation and thus she dies. Rinse and repeat. The story does miss depth, which could give me the urge to continue reading. 2, 5/5.

What should I say about this novel, I really got hooked by it it's very different from other time travel novels the MC zhu yao is hilarious ? She's very cute, funny, easygoing, strong person and I truly love her in every chapters of this novel she always makes me laugh so hard that I couldn't breathe

And her master too ML yu yan his the number one in the cultivation world and is zhu yao master (MC) and she's his succeeding disciple his good at everything except isn't connected... more>> to any worldly matters like husband and wife love emtions, and that man and woman should keep distance from each other and is unaware of woman period yes period his been only focused on his cultivation in so many years so his ignorant about those things and it's really funny that he thinks he knows everything and doesn't even know how to kiss ? ?? It's just hilarious

so the story start when (MC) zhu yao time travel from her computer in the cultivation world when she's was just helping her online friend to solve a bug when she cl**ked the mouse she got transport to a different world in that world she's 28 years old just like she's 28 in her real world unmarried because of work and she's a little old and in cultivation world she's the same age and unmarried because she can't give birth to children and no one wants to marry her and is living with her window mother being a peasant but that wasn't she's fated to have and one day in there village many deities come to select candidates for there ancient Hill sect to be disciples and they discovered that she zhu yao is a lightning spirt vein holder and immediately bring to the ancient Hill sect's leader and the sect leader make a decision to make her the disciple of yu yan (MC) when Yu yan heard that a lightning spirt vein holder has been discovered he immediately made her his succeeding disciple that he has been waiting for thousands of years but zhu yao (MC) was first unwilling to be a disciple and unwilling to expect him as her master but she got addicted to how disciples in ancient Hill sect are so cool in everything and later expect him as her master but what was funny that Everytime she got killed and when she reincarnate everytimes she becomes the disciple of a same person yu yan (ML) and what hilarious ? Is that sometimes she's a infant sometimes she's a guy sometimes she's a dragon it's really funny and the (MC) & (ML) disciple and love relationship is very adorable this novel got everything definitely recommend it ? <<less

A great story and nice comedy, definitely has great ideas but updates for the chapters have been slowed recently due to the person translating having a actual life...

There are times where the MC just dies to early in lives where it was interesting and cool and makes me wanna to just flip a damn table (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ which I want them to continue on that life for a bit longer... Then she just starts dying absurd amounts of times...

Comedy is enjoyable.

Read this right NOW NOW!

This is such a magnificent novel!

I love the main character. She is hilarious! I teared up laughing in the first 10 chapters. You need a certain kind of humor to get her and since I am a gamer as well as an... auntie *cough*, she is incredibly lovable and relatable. Little romance happening here and if there is, well, ice block male lead will probably deflect. Lol.

You have to understand to be carefree in this novel and dont get attached to other cannon fodder... more>> side characters because based from the title and from the way the MC lives through her lives, well, we can say she is a bit sadistic and carefree as well.

The translation is the best of the best among other novels translations I have read so far.

This is a rollercoaster ride of a novel and every arc is like a separate story with the same lovable main character with different buffs and circumstances and even backstory she makes up. Imagine logging in a game while chosing different avatar characters but you still remain you! Brillant brillant!

Invest some time in this and you will be heavily rewarded with surprising AND unpredictable plot and lots of cute radishes and dumplings!

Very amusing! It's a bit rare to find a female protagonist lead Xianxia, well at least for me it is lol. This one is really enjoyable to read and its the kind that most people wouldn't put down after they start reading it. I suggest giving it a try, no regrets for sure.

The story kinda goes its own way... the MC doesn't go around killing anything that offends her sight or w/e like other xianxia... she tends to stay to true to herself for the most part.

Not going to rate this one since I've decided to abandon it, but if I had to it would probably be a 1.5-2 stars.

Great translation, mindless quick transmigrations/storyline, lackadaisical romance.

I stopped right at Arc 8 (out of 12 arcs) because I was bored out of my mind. The beginning was hilarious, but the more the author dragged on the storyline, the worse it became. The beginning of the romance was also fun, but by the time they're together and going through different worlds their interactions just became yawn-inducing. For a... more>> story that goes in-depth about the worlds/side characters, it's a shame they weren't utilized more (or better, for that matter). There's a lot of cannon fodder characters who push the story forward while the FL follows along what the 'system' tells her to do to fix the bugs in each world. And by cannon fodder characters, I mean they're super pitiable. The author really just set them up for failure I guess *shrug*.

I was actually going to continue on one day until I read some reviews about the h*mophobia in later chapters (specifically 260) and how unfulfilling the end was for everyone except the main leads. Don't got time for these kinds of stories. Onto the next! <<less

For awhile I was rather enjoying this novel, but at this point I just kind of lost all interest. Maybe I'll continue reading it at some point if I get bored enough.

It's almost like a series of mostly unconnected short stories. The only real thread holding things together is the MC, and even after 150 chapters she doesn't have much of a character. She just constantly shouts "your sister" in her thoughts. Other than that she just doesn't have much presence. The master has even less, and doesn't really get... more>> that much screen time. I thought that might change with last arc I was reading, but even when he's actually basically nearby all the time, they don't seem to be interacting much and she's mostly "your sister'ing" other people in her head.

I can't identify what the novel is actually trying to accomplish. It's not plot-driven, as the latest objective just falls from the sky and is totally unrelated to the next plot point. None of the characters are particularly developed, and haven't changed at all ever, so it's not character development. The interactions are mostly between the MC and the latest random person who will get replaced in the next arc, so it's not really character interaction. The magic system and world are about as threadbare as can be, so it's not about exploring a magic system nor worldbuilding. Other than that... I don't know what else there is.

So, I have no idea what the novel is trying to do. It's not really bad, but at the same time I can't really figure out why this exists either. <<less

There are some genuinely funny moments in here, but most of the humour was exaggerated in a way that didn't really work for me. The story is... poor. It didn't really seem to be going anywhere, and I didn't get a strong sense of what most characters really wanted; they didn't have much of a life outside what's immediately relevant to the plot. The main character is really dim and oddly homophobic; I thought she might grow as a character, but there's just no signs of that - no character... more>> growth to be seen in anyone, actually.

What ultimately squicked me out was the pairing -
Spoiler

Look, if you've taken care of someone for a significant length of time as a baby, it is really really creepy to then want to mack on them, especially when you've treated them as a daughter and been basically their dad. REALLY CREEPY. If the baby thing wasn't there, I don't think I'd have minded so much - long lifespans, falling in love with the reincarnation of the same person etc are all established romance tropes. But as it is, no... just no.

[collapse]

I didn't realise what the pairing was going to be at first, and initially thought that part was almost sweet. And then... eurgh.

Beware if you read! <<less

A novel I loved till the end. I loved how light the story is. The people are not the most brilliant, even naïve ; But I loved every one of them, with their problema, insecurity, false hopes and arrogance. They was so human that I could feel them.

Even Sis yao, she is not perfect... no, she is even pretty s*upid sametimes (XD), but she never surrend and does her best to realize what her hearth desire, even if s*upid and naïve (even after a failure). I loved her and not... more>> stopped to love her innocence till the end.

I liked the series quite a lot at the start, but after one dramatic turn, I think the story shied away from taking risks. The first few reincarnations were kept fun by the main character constantly meeting people she knew, but with a lot of time having passed in between. After the end of the first ark however, the story seems to lose its focus as less and less characters stay along between reincarnations until it's just her master. Unfortunately, at that point, the protagonist and master's relationship is pretty... more>> sorted out and the story devolves into largely the same motions of figure out bug, grind levels, find mcguffin to beat the bug, get killed, rinse and repeat. She does cycle through different settings, but they all don't really feel that different. Jokes and plot threads also get quite repetitive, as she's always fighting some op arrogant enemy that she can snark at while inevitably outdoing them in the end.

Spoiler

It's a shame, because the end of the first ark legitimately had me hooked, as I had not expected the hither to silly series to have the guts to kill a long running character in a rather brutally realistic way. Sadly the emotional payoff is removed by the god system itself deleting her memories, and the death ends up not impacting much of anything later on because of this.

[collapse]

I would definitely recommend at least reading up to the defeat of the first villain, as the story is quite excellent up until that point. <<less

This is one of my top favorites. If I ever lost my memories and could only choose to remember three C-novels, this one would be one of them. You can't miss it.

My Disciple is a parody of all these transmigration and reincarnation tropes in one, but it's still a story in itself and a really creative one at that. The main character, Zhu Yao, dies and reincarnates with a new avatar over and over again while she tries to fix the 'bugs' of this universe, the glitches that make it... more>> endangered. Each avatar is unique, and don't think that there is anything she can't be. Because she's been a lot of things.

There is so much humor left and right, you'll almost die of laughter. It makes fun of all the tropes in this genre and you'll see some of them in a new light.

And we can't forget about the romance. It's surprising, but not unwelcome at all. I love the Male Lead and I don't think there could have been anyone better for Zhu Yao. She's really smart but s*upid at times (but in a funny way), and he makes up for it, but he also lacks common sense which she has to fill in for him. Literally, when they got sexy for the first time, she had to teach him how to do everything because he didn't even know such a thing existed (he's pretty much been living on top of a mountain his whole life).

One of my top recommendations. You can't pass this book at all. <<less

I avoided this story like a plague for over a year and was forced to find better novels instead, just because someone reviewed that the MC is acting like a goody-two-shoes (and that's not realistic, so he says).

I agree to it wholeheartedly, but as I delved deeper in the story and was caught in it, I realized after reading the latest translated chapter (basically finishing this story in a day) that this novel is a fresh break from those angsty, dramatic and intense xianxia novels (with onion cutting ninjas)... more>> I've been reading for the past year.

I don't know but the pace of the story and the plot was well written (though I wish some side characters will remain for a long time, the author basically treated them like disposables), and the MC's charater improvement is amazing as well as the humor. The romance was very light and... it was light.

However if you are desperately trying to find an MC without humanity and only does things for his/her benefit, you shouldn't read this at all costs. This story is very light hearted and trying to find realistic mentality will only make you angry because this story is an exact opposite of that (you should read Warlock of the Magus World instead).

Overall this is one of my fav novels and I would surely recommend this to others.

P.s. The tropes in here is sick, that's what made it humorous

UPDATE:

  • Goddamnit I finished it already now I am regretting that I'm regretting that I finished it early. But as tbey say all good stories must come to an end.
  • It was a fun ride and I don't regret any part of it.
  • I want to take Scrya Translations for his/her efforts. I wouldn't love Zhu Yao and Yu Yan (etc.) because of he/her.
  • My heart hurts *sadly cries*

So far the story is pretty good, it is a comedic take on the genre. However it is still serious, the comedy is the point of the strongest martial artist diety who has lived for 10, 000 years has no common sense. The main character is who is forced to become his discple dies over and over, and she is reincarnated just to be picked up by the master again.

overall, this was... okay. if you're bored, I think this would be a fun read. if you're actually looking for something to immerse yourself in, you might wanna look somewhere else.

first, I wanna commend the translators b/c damn they did a pretty good job esp for a chinese novel & when you compare the novel tl with the manhua tl, it's like night and day.

anyways

i feel like this story tried too hard to not be like other girls i.e. not be like other cliche xianxia novels which is why all... more>> the villains seem to have the EQs of flip-flops and exist solely for the MC to school them and act all cool as she lectures them, simply because she is a woman from modern times. I also found myself skipping chapters near the end as a lot of them seemed to just be boring word vomit that was copy-pasted from previous chapters because the author ran out of ideas.

there was never a sense of urgency because the MC would always conveniently have her friend, y'know, the f*cking omnipotent god of the universe throw her a bone or have her master descend from heaven every 2 seconds to save her ass. it didn't really make sense to me how he'd always be like "bae u almost got urself killed again im so angry but now I gtg back to heaven meet me there" over and over again.

i also never felt anything when the characters died? it is extremely easy to make me cry and I once cried over an eight chapter long novel twice so hard it made me rethink my life (shout out to beauty to ashes go read it) and I was also reasonably attached to the characters so it should've been a simple task.
Spoiler

i really loved xuzhi, but when he died, I felt absolutely nothing. and why did the MC avoid telling xuzhi her real identity during her 2nd and 3rd lives?? she saw how much bro was suffering without her

[collapse]

there were some confusing aspects like why a phoenix of the god races, the savior of the entire universe, would be some rando cannon fodder typical 2nd fl, or
Spoiler

why xuzhi and yue ying were different parts of shao bai (honestly felt like a cheap cop out so xuzhi would no longer be a sad 2nd ml)

[collapse]

i thought the fl's holier-than-thou attitude to be pretty old after a few chapters because she'd lecture everyone and anyone as well as act like she knew better. I was VERY tired of it when she started giving
Spoiler

yue ying a load of sh*t because he almost killed xuzhi. maybe if this dumb f*ck had done her f*cking job and actually raised the poor kid instead of tossing him over to ANOTHER kid, he would've turned out better. this lady literally forgot about him and expected him to be a normal child when he had never had a parental figure his entire life that would tell him what was right or wrong to do.

[collapse]

there's also raging h*mophobia later in the book. there's some slight homophobic remarks during her 3rd reincarnation, but she goes on a homophobic tangent later on, which is obviously the author trying to slide in her homophobic views. there's nothing to be done about that as this is not a western novel, so you have to remember that socially, they are a bit behind (not excusing the h*mophobia, just giving a reason why), which is also why you'll see some characters in other novels freak out because of their darker skin (dark skin is associated with poor people bc they have to work under the sun). anyways, the h*mophobia was lowkey triggering and mad annoying so just a tw

there was also a lot of loose ends at the end and I really would've liked to known the fate of sesame, wang xuzhi, yu luo, the wood spirit, how exactly guo guo attracted the literal f*cking god and took him as her boyfriend, etc etc. the author also missed out on some great opportunities to add in angst e.g. have the ML freak out and think that this reincarnation was the last but maybe that's just my angst who*e heart talking

again, somewhat enjoyable, but really not the best <<less
