I stopped reading this at chapter 40. There are a couple of reasons, but the main one is that I don't like the MC. Here is the setting:

MC came to new world, full of magic. His family is being suppressed by a local noble's. MC has a magic pendant and access to more magic than other people. Proceeds to act like a ret*rd. There is no thought process involved, no real character development. His decisions don't come from any thought out plan, he just makes some random decisions and plot... more>> armor makes things go his way. Even the girls who are interested in him comes from plot armor and not from interactions. You don't see the budding romance between them, things are established as fact and I just can't feel for the characters.

The characters are from the country, so I believe the author tried to put in an accent but perhaps the translators didn't do well in translating the dialogue but the direction doesn't work well and the plot is sort of a jumbled mess. Would not recommend.

3/5 World building.
1/5 Character development
1/5 Character dialogue
2/5 Plot.
1/5 MC Charisma - I just think he's a total idiot. Would not want to read more about him.
Spoiler

Especially after he totally insults the lord of the MU family in front of everyone putting a huge target on his back. What an idiot.

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with this one. This review will be more of a venting my frustration so please forgive me.

At the start there were a lot of things I want to comment about like the advanced science turning into advanced magic, like seriously? Just one or two spells for the primary stage of element makes the world advanced? What happened to the guns, missiles, nukes were taken out of the picture just because of magic? I mean there are still a lot of ordinary citizens that... more>> are not mages so there should atleast be a group of people trying to advance or counterbalance magic with science I mean even low-ranked magicians should strive for this because in the earlier chapters during the enrollment there were even someone saying wanting to su*cide because of the awakened elemnet. (I mean atleast something similar to that one novel/anime Irregular at Magic Highschool)

Also there are a lot of time skip to progress the story I mean I know its CN with cultivation that takes months to years of cultivation but for me it doesn't work that well. I remember there was a part stating that magic reinforce the body but not the IQ & memory. There was one chapter were the MC was doing his 2nd awakening and there was a time-skip of 1 year and guess what the examiner who saw MC for just a few minutes was able to remember the MCs face when he saw him again. I can understand if you remember the name but the face?. Also during the time-skips I always wonder what happens to his step-sister, father, etc.. The story is too focused on the MC and all the side characters are just there to make the MC look stronger. As for MC relationships just keep on dreaming. The MC had a childhood sweetheart they also tried to elope I think this was before & after he crossed the world as it happened when they were 13 years old (i think this was the tragedy they keep on saying) yet afterwards the MC was like "Are we close? But if want you can be part of my harem attitude" & didn't even try to make any effort get close again. Even after
Spoiler

the Bo City disaster he didn't try to contact her to tell her he's ok or anything he didn't even try to get to the same university as her. As for the Teacher Tang Yue after taking care of his mess about the magical artifact, receiving lots of tomes worth millions, then he just kept on taking advantage of her even when she was in danger, then finally it just ends up him sexually harassing her to make a forced relationship, and the MC still acts like a victim and still expect more advantages from her, now that is what I call a thick-skinned MC.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Also somehow it's really annoying how a lot of side characters keeps on dying. I know it makes it more realistic but at the same time it makes the MC a lot more s*upid. The final thing that made me drop this was when the same thunder-guy from Bo City (forgot his name) just to make it more miserably for him his entire family was killed all except for him, and then he was captured by the MCs enemies and he was drugged/converted by the Black Church and him ending up killing his girlfriend wow the author must really hate this guy he didn't even standout or find trouble with the MC

[collapse]
I dropped this because I feel like things like this will keep on happening.

For the cultivation aspect I find it hard to understand. (I would call the stage/boundary/realm as tier) I mean I know there was tiers & skills tiers doesn't relate to cultivation tiers, but maybe because I was skimming for the info dumps I have no idea of the boundaries for advancing to the next tier.. And I don't really get how much stronger each tier is. And like any other CN novel a bunch of old dudes in the first city is like a god and going to the next city it turned out that he was just an ant that even those the same age of the MC can kill him effortlessly. Isn't it annoying how they keep on repeating the MC is such a genius then after moving on there were more geniuses like him. I would like to ask a solemn question about this novel, is the internet also removed from the advancement of science. Can't keep up with the news? They have mobile phones but no internet, how terrible of a modern world is that, people there need to learn to adapt like those in "Cultivation Chat Group" even cultivators adapt through advancement of technologies even when they can move mountains/planets.

All in all what really disappoint me is the attitude of the MC, he is a fillial son (His father sacrificed a lot for him then MC just gave him money because he knows his father can take care of himself), caring brother (Yup, just call a few times a week, then neglect her for weeks, months, help her a few times and from his actions its like his expecting in*est, we'll not really I guess because they are not related by blood), a good friend (yeah like that the one he saved but let others friend die just because they are not his friend, then afterward he would only call them when he needs them), will probably be a good lover (yup he's a pe*vert, though he said he was not a gigolo from his relationship with his teacher I would not think twice that he's a gigolo). He is an upright citizen (Yup, stealing magical artifact and let a teacher deal with it, steal the holy spring and blame it on the situation, take advantage of others and still feel no shame about it, take others cultivation resources and justified that he is poor and needs it more than them, made enemies and let others take the misfortune.)

And also the atmosphere of the story is really weird for me as sometimes I keep forgetting the setting that it was set on a modern society as like the characters act like ancient people. <<less

Please read this before dropping. I read all the way up to 2000 chapters. I think I got a pretty good glimpse at the story.

This novel picks up really slow and gets REALLY good around 150 chapters. If you can't stand the beginning just go watch the anime season 1-2 and then start reading the novel (in Chinese if you can) around 150 chapters. That's when the story really starts. Believe me, I am extremely picky and dropped more than 90% of the popular novels translated here (only really... more>> like the good ones like I Shall Seal the Heaven).

The MC appears pe*verted, c*cky, shameless, gutless, and annoying initially, but that isn't really his entire personality. That is the image that he shows around up to 80 chapters, but from 80-150 something happens that makes him show more sides of his personality and perhaps changed him in some ways forever. Don't get me wrong, some aspects of his personality remains, but it actual becomes comedic after you know his full personality.

Let me demonstrate his personality with a spoiler... read at your own risk

Spoiler

Around chapter 80-150, MC's hometown gets utterly destroyed. He appeared nonchalant and unfazed for the most part, but is actually deeply affected by this. At some point down the line, when the MC is way way stronger, he tried to protect another city and said something like "Let me protect this city with all that I have. And let me imagine the city behind me as the city that I once failed to save due to my weakness. Give me another chance to protect what is important to me." I think that shows a lot.

[collapse]

Overall, the MC is actually really brave and really selfless. He denies this and acts like he don't care, but he is someone who will step in the front line for people/things he really cares about. He is also very smart and ruthless when he needs to be. He doesn't get tricked much and mostly does the tricking. He is also ruthless and will kill those who intend to harm him. Therefore, not a brainless good guy.

He also acts pe*verted with females, but he's got only two girls at the end (the ones that he started off with) and no one else. So despite the harem, he is an actual loyal guy. Also love is really not the main focus in this story and you barely see the girls and there is very slow development. The MC is more concerned with his own growth and what he needs to do.

Lastly, this story can get repetitive in some ways, but if you are someone who loves a MC who shocks other people with his powers and someone who loves a MC who fights for his own belief and actually receives gratitude (not the purpose of his actions, he only acts for himself), this is the story for you. I love these things and it makes my blood boil when I read. <<less

This is my favourite novel of all times. A simple cultivation system. A magic object that is relevant through out the entire story. Closed off world meaning there is no higher realms (it is just earth and the countries and locations on earth nothing more) you understand the scoop of everything. Characters are recurring and are given relevant subtext to be part of the story later on. Characters are not forgotten. The author ensures there is little receptiveness in terms of overall story and cliche things are always given... more>> a unique twist to them if there ever is.

NB : the first 150 chapters are slow and boring and are only usefull for cultivation info and a few character names, dont worry about personality they all change and given more depth after ch150

Spoiler

The two small villains in the first episode of the anime, Mu He turns out to be a big villain who gets kill for letting the MC attend Magic High School, The other one Mu Bai turn into a stable and loyal sidekick of the main character

Definitely not a 4+ worthy series. There is extremely thin character development, lots of plot holes, to the point where you cannot empathize with what the MC is doing, he just looks like an idiot more than half the time. There is attempted humor many times, which all falls flat. The world building is weak, it just says some elements are strong, while others are weak, with no explanation, as the story develops, it doesn’t become any clearer. Somewhat related, the translation is fairly bad, it is basically a machine... more>> translation with correct formatting.

It isn’t to the point where I would consider it one of the worst series out there, as it at least is keeping up a decent pace of weak to strong and avoids some of the absolute worst mistakes that pop-up in some fairly bad Chinese light novels, such as extreme racism towards a certain island nation, but this should probably have an overall score around the low 3’s, which is within the range where it is barely worth a read, to some people (anything below a 3 average rating I would consider tr*sh level where no one should even bother reading it). <<less

I like this novel. Though I can see why many would write it off as another tr*shy cultivation novel. Here are a couple of points that are valid criticisms to the novel:

  1. the setting makes little to no sense. Yes, the MC gets transported to another world with magic but is almost similar to our world. With all technology replaced by magic. That is definitely something hard to get around if you think about it just a little.
  2. the plot is too simple and with little depth added in. Yes. It is by no means a complicated well thought out novel with each arc holding weight.
There are many small things that are problematic but the above 2 points are what would drive most away. Now to why I like it.

  1. Perhaps you are wondering why I'm not hating the MC? Because honestly I cant. He is not a genius that can solve problems perfectly when it comes up. He does things for simple reasons like money and comfort but when things gets bad and people gets hurt, he would take up the mantle and try his best. He fails, many times. But he always tries and never actively harm anyone unless they are absolutely malicious. He is a balanced, decent guy, never self-righteous or a complete dickhead. That is why I like him.
  2. The side characters. Yes, the side characters gets a lot of attention. And each one of them has their own unique ability that contributes to the story. They have their own problems and their own personality. Not too much or too in-depth, but it is distinct. It is more accurate to say the stories later on becomes the MC travelling around with his buddies to experience the world and have fun.
  3. The magic system. Yes, it is one of the few times I actually liked the system. It is not extremely well defined and detailed. But the system is clear enough that you can actually figure out how with each advancement, things gets harder. And it even make the MC's power seems less op.
All in all, if you are looking for something fun and simple, where the MC is not an edge-lord, nor a messiah, but a simple good man going on an adventure with his buddies and facing numerous trails, this would be a good read. Things gets better as it went on.

I really pitied the father of the MC and author. Why?? His son was a piece of sht. Man, the MCs father or family here was suppressed by this noble family to the point that his father work himself to death so that the MC could have comfortable school life, sold his everything and became homeless so just the MC could enter a good school, his father do work outside the cities even though it is so dangerous and has a high chance of encountering beasts so that he could... more>> support his studies, and even take the his son's place and was forced to kneel and kowtow to the this noble family head in front of many people including his friends and teachers and suffered a great humiliation, but what the MC did? Or rather what the author wrote here? The MC just forget about this things because he was told to by his honest, selfless father. Man, think about it, the hardships, dangers, humiliation that his father suffered because of him was immediately forgotten because he was told to? Really? Is that a son should do author? Because he was told to, he did not try to take justice to the bad things that they suffered. I did not even saw that man apologizing sincerely, he just bent his knees slightly and the MC already considered that as kneeling and apology, while his father really kneeled and even kowtowed to that man. His father's hardship, humiliation, safety, and pride was just equivalent of slightly benting of knees of that man? Its not even kneeling. What a 'great' son, and Im sure that this author was also a 'great' son. Son of a btch. He even forgot his grivjences to that family and considered his revenge to that noble family finished just because he thoroughly defeated an 'adopted' son of that family who did not really have a blood relation to that family and did not even participated in suppresing him and his family back then. I did not even think that this noble family lost face, because their man was beaten by First dual elemental guy and soon-to-be the strongest magician. So wheres the lost of face there?? And Im sure that at the end of this chapter, the family who suppressed, humiliated, and treated them like a dog when they were still weak and poor, was the ones who benefited the most in the end of the novel. Why? Because Im sure that this piece of a sht of an author would make the MC marry the daughter of this nobke family head. Imagine the benefits of marrying your daughter to the most powerful person in the world. That noble family's livelihood would become the MCs responsibilities because his wife was from that family. Instead of paying them back by the hardships and humiliation that you suffered by 100 times, he instead gave them benefits. What a 'great' piece of a sht, he did not even think about the hardships and humiliation his selfless father suffered, and instead forgot that, and continued to flirt with the daughter of that man. Man, I really pitied the father of this author, I think that if the father of this author was humiliated and forced to kowtow in front of many people and suffered hardship by people, and the author was told to forget it by his father, he would just really forget it and let it be and even gave them benefits. Because thats what I see in this novel. What a 'great son'!

I dont care if you called me petty, but man, if I am the MC? I would never marry that woman from that family even if you say that we loved each other? Just remembering the sufferings and the great humiliation that my loving and selfless father suffered from that family and the picture of my father kowtowing to that bastard in front of many people would inclined me to forgetting her than loving her, marrying her and giving that family any benefits from me. In fact, I was disgusted by this author whenever there was a flirting scene between the MC and Mu Ningxue. Man, he did not protect the honor of his father but instead flirted and chased like a dog the daughter of the bastard who humiliated and suppressed them. He gave the family that humiliate his father a face and benefits instead of giving them setbacks. Why I said that the MC gave them face? If your daughter was being courted by the now-a-strong man you suppressed in the past? What would you feel? Of course, its a pride. Instead of restoring the pride and honor of his father, the MC gave it to the bastard who humiliate and suppressed them. The MC did not like that he was being treated like a dog when he was still weak, but he chases the daughter of that bastard like a dog. What 'great' dog 'cough' man. Man, this author was a fcking useless son. I think that if his father was slapped by the father of his girl, he would just let it be. Because thats how the MC (that he created) did after his father was humiliated and forced to kneel in front of many people for him. Im so fcking excited how would the MC tr*sh that bastard, but what happened? He let that bastard off after that bastard just slightly bent his knees and thats it. His father literally kneeled and kowtowed in front of many people, and it was resolve by just slightly bending of knees? Really? There's not even a single apology there. And the most disgusting for me is the MC made marrying the daughter of that bastard his lifetime goal. And his lifetime goal reaction when he was rumored dead because he saved her when he demonified, she was just slightly disappointed. I would like to ask you this stpd author, is the sacrifice of the MC was really worth it? Man, he sacrificed himself for her and her reaction was just slightly disappointed when she heard it. Is that a girl that should be a lifetime goal for you? Man, there were many fcking women in this novel that helped the MC many times and he interact many times but this author shove them to the side and made the MC chases a girl that did not even appreciate his efforts fully. What the F man, I think this author was like a dog. Man, I dont know if I pitied you for your stpdness or slap you author. What a son of a btch, sht of a son, tr*sh of a son, this author is. Fck you man, really!! The MC did not even visit his father once when he have summer breaks or sem breaks in his school. He just gave his father 1 million RMB and thats it. He did not even include his father in some of his plans for his future. And when he was rumored to be dead, he visit all of his friends when he returned but he did not visit his father even though Im sure that he was the one who was the most worried to him. See how great a piece of sht this author was?

I like this novel but I am disgusted by this author. Man, you're a talented author, but as a son? You are a piece of sht. No matter what, you could see what type of a person an author is, in the things that they write. And in the things that I saw in this novel? This author was a sht of a son.

And I dont know if the MC was tr*sh or just stupd, he have 4 elements but he was having a hard time to kill a warrior level monster while his friend xiaohou killed 12 warrior level monster on his own even though he only have a earth and wind elements which is do not have a strong attack power like fire and lightning. He did not even have any battle styles. And he did not even try to think any battle tactics so that he could apply his elements more practically. And the MC already know that he only have a few knowledge in the world but he still did not try to study a little and increase his knowledge. Man, what a waste of talent. The MC was just like a barbarian, he just relied on his own talent and the strength of his 4 elements to fully suppressed his enemy. In fact I would like to rate this a 4 stars because it is somewhat entertaining, but man I was triggered by this author. Man, this novel was good, but the ideals, point of view of things of this fcking author ruined this. <<less

Updating this review. I'm up to c100 and I'm not sure what to think. MC is supposed to be a genius but I can't see where he is very smart. He is a hot head, who makes rash decisions but overall, with a character that is neither unique or interesting. Other characters are equally generic and uninteresting. Because the author made the characters 95% of the story. What you get is a unique setting and concept ultimately dumbed down by uninterestin g and random dramatics the further you go. Even... more>> so, it's not the worst thing I've read. Just sub par. I put this on hold because it's still readable nonetheless. <<less

Quite frankly, folks who have given this novel a low rating are missing out. It picks up kind of slow... but future chapters get a lot juicer (I'm on 711). There's plenty of well written foreshadowing, surprise twists, heart wrenching tragedies, and exciting battles to keep the reader interested. There are chapters that have made me cry grown-ass-man-tears.... So I think the character development is just fine.

I think the author is growing with his/her story, and if you can stick through the boring parts it becomes well worth the time... more>> taken to read.

Edit: Removed are star, I still like the series but I now feel that the author might be backpedaling to his/her bad writing habits. That being said I still like the story.

p.s. : Yes the MC is kind of an idiot, but the people around him aren't.

Overall, tr*sh with good ideas. I have seriously considered whether I should give it 1 or 2 stars. The truth is that I liked several of the storylines which focused on action/adventure and the magic system was interesting for me. The problem was that as I progressed, the good parts faded and the only thing that I could remember were the ones that disgusted me and writing up this review did not help.

1. The whole way the MC treats women is nauseating.
- one of his main love interests is... more>> his step sister. They are not blood related so I would have no problem with it if he stopped calling her sister. Someone is either your sibling or your lover, not both. The other "love interest" is someone he did not talk to for several years and does not know anything about anymore. That is not love; that is obsession.
- he forces himself on his love interests (for example, fondles his step sister because he knows she would be too shy to say no) and he rubs himself against women he finds beautiful when he has an opportunity. As the story progressed, I found it more and more difficult to ignore this part. The MC is literally a s*xual predator.
- He is controlling: he tries to prevent his step sister to go abroad to study. And just to clarify, he does not try to convince her to stay or discuss it with her. He says that "she will not go"... WFF?
Or there is a scene where the second "love" interest is focusing on a spell to support her team and she cannot defend herself. One of their teammates who the MC does not like is covering her. And what is our "dear" MC's first thought when he sees this? He does not want that guy around her - instead of being happy that someone is there to cover her back. He would rather have her in danger than have someone protect her just because he does not approve of the guy. And he claims to love her. That is not love; he very obviously considers his jealousy more important than her life. These are just a few examples.

2. We have something that I will call "MC lead morality". If it is done by the MC or his entourage, then it is ok. If it is done by someone else, it is atrocious.
The MC is arrogant, rude and highly aggressive who has no problems firing deadly spells at his opponents. When we have the Egyptian team representative behaving the same way and injuring a team member, he is a bastard and they absolutely have to take revenge on him. When the MC does the same, it is ok. And "of course", the MC never faces any real consequences for his actions. Hypocrisy at its finest.

3. Full of inconsistencies starting from simple things which the author doer not bother keeping track of: what type of mage is a character or how many magic scrolls someone is supposed to have. Then things like: suddenly a spell has a cooldown just because if it did not have, the solution would be simple and our MC could not become the hero (spells have no cooldowns). Or when the MC's female friend impersonates him at university for a competition involving fighting - The MC is already infamous because he won a duel against 200 people... And the people who are also at the top of their classes and participate in the competition do not know who he is??? The same with the teachers??? Yes, sure, absolutely believable (and yes, that was sarcasm, for those who did not catch it).

4. Unrealistic situations or arrogant characters just to generate artificial conflict so the "MC can shine".
For example, a prestigious school tries to kidnap his step sister so she can be their student. Really??? Read this again. Prestigious schools do not need to kidnap (and they know the law). You say no... ok, good, they have another 100 candidates who are just as talented as you are. I seriously thought that the author was ret*rded when I read this scene. And this was just one example, though one of the most memorable ones.
Also a large part of the opponents are painfully arrogant just so that we can have extra conflict. Unfortunately, the author has one template for them so after seeing the same pattern a few times, it becomes tedious.

Typing up all of these made me realize that I really wasted a lot of time on this "novel". <<less

The start was so good, but it just proceeds to go downhill from a s*upid MC. It makes absolutely no sense for a person with a dual element (lightning +fire) to even hide his skills. He could have EASILY been accepted into an amazing school, protected by powerful figures, moved dad and his little sister to a better city and his little enemies in this little city would not have been able to do anything, just wait to die.

No, MC proceeds to just disguise his lightning element and sticks with... more>> fire in public, which gets quite annoying. Why does he even have a damn lightning element if he is not going to use it? Oh, let's just secretly save it for a few years down the line when I become stronger and can suppress those small family Mu bullies.

If you want to read a novel that is short in chapters and ends up just frustrating you, go ahead. <<less

Ai... while the premise was nice, the delivery was kinda subpar. Our main character is too caught up in trying to hide his skills so that he can reveal them explosively later in life. Magic system seems kinda limited in scope and quite boring. MC’s advantages are meh.

Characters are weak. Only one I really like is that wind mage best friend who’s called Monkey. Dunno why. More badass than the MC for sure.

Story sometimes doesn’t know if it’s a mage story or an ecchi story. When the female teacher... more>> was introduced, it became a bit agonizing to continue.

Far too many League of Legend references.

While the story says all modern appliances have basically be replaced with magic... how? No expansion on this idea which makes it confusing.

How the hell is Thomas Edison known for discovering Light Magic? Why didn’t he discover LIGHTNING magic as fuel for lightbulbs instead? Using magic stones to replace electrical appliances seems kinda...

I dunno, but I’m kinda tired of Lightning being the ultimate element in chinese stories... <<less

So far 14 chapters and I must admit it’s pretty bad. The author keeps trying to be funny but it’s not, he’s so busy trying to be funny that he’s just throwing in random sh*t into the novel without decent explanations or contradicts himself. And sorry but having 2 out of 7 elements being water and ice is just dumb.

I read it up to this point and all I have to say is that this isn't some academically sound iteration of a world where magic replaces science.

It's meant to be a wish fulfillment novel with all the bells in whistles, from "YOU THINK THIS IS MY FULL POWA" to the multitudes of women who fall in love with him for doing virtually nothing.

The novel keeps a bare minimum of how he aquires his incredible powers but it's more attributed to luck or *cough, cough* plot armor; then anything else.

Spoiler

he starts off with dual elements thatare also the strongest possible elements and a mysterious pendant that increases his cultivation speed

[collapse]

This is where the colors of an ordinary Chinese translation show their colors.

Spoiler

despite all his incredible luck he is still easily over taken once he enters the next arc. This is a lazy trope Chinese novels in particular use to incorporate many weak to strong arks but it truly becomes apparent in later chapters as in a normal Chinese novel you will end up in a zone filled with gods supposedly the geniuses of their generation despite the MC being a genius of his generation by chapter three

[collapse]

All in all it's average for this site sad as that may be. Sexism isn't as apparent as in most web novels here and I didn't notice any racism.

I enjoyed reading this and was able to slog through it because of cheap wish fulfillment but it isn't exactly interesting in any way. <<less

This is a hilarious novel, and I'm glad I spent a night reading it!

You just have to come in with the mindset that the novel is a half-decent Chines Xeon. And take a shot every-time the author add "magic" to a generic word! "Magic academy" "Magic final exam" "Magic History" and "Magic Geography" :P

I felt even a little sympathy for the main character, with his family situation and all. But the novelty of the world switch, with everyone going "what fantasy books have you been reading! Literature and Math don't... more>> exist only Magic"

10/10 glad I read! <<less

My thought so far : MC is s*upid.

Spoiler

The author hates the rich and portrays them as people that sees money as everything; going so far to make them say that poor people give their poor genes to their descendants making them poor and losers as well.

Let me quote the author here "Some people understood things only after they had grown up. Some teased the students with bad grades, but a rich family, that was a silly thing. After entering the society, the ones with money went overseas to study and came back with an incredible diploma. They could easily find a company and earn a tens of thousands per month, and they'd still think it was too little money. Whereas those who had diligently studied, entered university, then submerged themselves in a multitude of jobs still had a quality of life that was simply not on the same level as those who were teased for their family background. Their ideal world was erased; they lost their spirits, yet remained tired, and still more poor than a freaking dog."

That ain't even how studying abroad works... I know a Chinese student there her family gave her everything they had so she could study here and get a diploma, school don't just hand those over to you if you don't qualify, it lowers their ranking doing so, smh. Tbh everything is in that quote. The direct consequence of working tiring job is because of bad grades. Do I believe exams are biased against students who don't give a sh*t ? Yes I do believe so.

MC, he, does not think.
Spoiler

I do not know about what all the comments saying how smart he is is about however I do know that despite the fact he could have been seen as the most talented student in school, hence directly going to the elite class he is hiding himself, his talent or whatever, then there might be people that pointed it out because out of nowhere there was a plot that gave him a good reason to do so (black magic or something).

It is the second time I read a novel doing this (first being Monster Paradise). MC decides something on his own then the plot completes whatever he does or think, that ain't being smart or anything like come on... you gotta stop it please.

2nd point :
Spoiler

I do not really understand it but these male are really the lowest of low, they are constantly rutting. No kidding, every time a new female character is introduced it always describe how they think of her; if it is the first few time then yeah right. Sigh.

3rd :
Spoiler

And why the hell does he even split his practice into lightning THEN fire ? He had so much progress with just lightning far ahead than everyone else. Even if he is dual element nothing is explained on why he would have to do that, I mean a real reason like a benefit or something. It would only make sense to me that he is doing it because he read in a book he picked up but no. I am already smelling a thick plot armor coming to complete his actions "oh I didn't do it for nothing I can combine fire and lightning making it way stronger !".

And guess what, as soon as he starts to practice fire and he's somewhat good in it (considering the amount of time he spent) there is suddenly a new teacher that is specialized in fire that teach his class for no reason. Like the reason she exists or is even there is so that MC didn't practice fire in vain lmao, it's so painful.

[collapse]

4th :
Spoiler

I don't like the MC as a person. He is a loser through and through. I hope he changes but his dad is out there risking his damned life and instead of looking at the most officient way to integrate the Elite Class and fight for the best ressources school can offer he's hiding his talent going so far as to splitting his practice into lightning then fire just so he can stay in the same class for what ? I don't get the efficiency of this yet if you read his thoughts he's completely always thinking on how to put down this or that person when he becomes strong. Not kidding.

[collapse]

Having read so much about mages putting benefits above all else and searching for efficiency this is a new one for me. MC is "hardworking" without a plan he's just cultivating for the sake of cultivating if cultivating was like studying if you learn for the sake of learning without an exam study plan in mind it is meaningless, his dad should be the real hero, he's just a glorified villain IMO. <<less

You should absolutely read this novel. The author is creative with his use of items, spells, world building, in fact I'd say he is outstanding with much of it, especially the world building.

The main character may be lacking in social skills, but he makes up for it by being a very self-made, strong-willed, logically overpowered badass. There's an immense sense of satisfaction you get when he gets his more cheatlike powers and tr*shes on folks with them--but probably because it's not too over the top. The top is sky-high and... more>> yet you can still get an overview and see how small the character still is.

The progression is slowish despite all this, so clearly not giving us a Mary Sue character. Do not give up reading early or you will be missing out on a world full of perils and narrow scrapes, competitions between Juniors and battles between veritable gods, wartimes and building up home, treachery and misfortune, the conflict between lawful good, lawful evil, chaotic evil, chaotic good... and more!!

The story is awesome and interesting. The characters are incredibly realistic and interesting. They are times when the MC may seem OP but he always faces a threat which shows he still has much to learn. I will recommend this to anyone

It was the first novel i've ever read (before someone began to retake the traduction). It is a pretty good story I love how the magic works. The MC is pretty cool, two sided between arrogant and ultra protector (with his sister and the person he loves). I agree that it is a little bit slow at the beggining but it begin to be more and more interesting. I want to read more but the problem is the slow and not regular traduction. Of course I'm really grateful to the... more>> translator because without them we would'nt be able to read this story but maybe would it better to take a steady pace and deliver a chapter every week at the same time so we would'nt wait and check everyday if a chapter came out but we'll just know that a new chapter came out every monday.

Thank you again for the translation and have a great time reading it. <<less

With its 3.4 rating and some bad reviews I thought this novel was tr*sh, but I'm glad to be proven wrong.

Has some cultivation clichés, but has a lot of good parts and MC isn't a sociopath or hypocritical tyrant like a lot of Chinese novel protagonist are. MC is a interesting take on a confident protagonist as well. The elemental system of magic seems off at first by how biased it is, but as one review informed me it all balances out eventually.

Spoiler

And why so many reviews about water and ice magic being different is strange. Has no one seen a novel, game, or anime where that happens? Ice is usually seen as an advance level of water magic or fusion of like water and wind, so why be bothered? It's s*upid.
