A great novel that get you imersed in.

The MC is at the same time likeable and brutal to his opponets, he don't have the same indecision with his realationships as most of MCs of other novels, also theses ralationships are reasonable and not hollow, and last but none the least, he mature a lot throughout the plot gettin new objetives besides just revenge, for conclusion it is a great reading.

Can a Goblin be a wise chief? This one definitely is one. Humane yet monstrous, full of love yet twisted, Blood Dagger is the saviour this rotten world needs. It is fascinating to read about the struggle to survive, the humanity of monsters and the monstrosity of humans. 5*, the characters feel very much alive.

Like most korean novels, the pace is fast and to my liking as the first 20 chapters are not full of meaningless drivel and bad humor attempting to build background and failing, like in many chinese novels. However, the main problem that becomes apparent is the MC is too much of a petty chump.

Spoiler

An elite human stranger throws him some change as he is almost a beggar and says some casual pleasantries to come to her if he needed anything, basically not intended to follow through, like you may say to a customer or stranger. Then this homeless guy shows up at her house and when she doesn’t help him with a serious issue he puts her on his kill list. A little petty?

Then it comes out that he fell in love with a prostitute. His entire next life after reincarnating is to help her, and she is just as petty as him. Later as a monster he gives her a lot of help and she thanks him by luring him into a trap to fight against a strong clan so she can fish for profits on the side.

So the main characters are basically impetuous children. Is it interesting to read about some random shortsighted douche cuckold?

Nice story, it's a lot similar to re: monster, with the MC reincarnating into a goblin that can evolve into different races, training and commanding other goblins, but unlike re:monster, which I got sick tired of reading thanks to MC being way too op, other than previous life knowledge the MC didn't get any cheat skill, in fact he even lost some battles, thus making a better and more consistent story than re monster where the MC just do whatever he wants thanks to his cheat, having a MC that... more>> loose sometimes is important as well so he can improve, I recommend this for those that liked re monster but, like me, prefer a story without a too over powered MC <<less

I enjoy Green Skin very much since it's different than the Hero perspective. It may be similar in some way since it's the same kind of environment as regular RPG, but it haves a whole lot of ugly on the human side and some lovely interaction on the monsters side. I think about it as simply acknowledging that we would look at ennemies and call them monsters while ignoring our own failure and cruel actions.

Err how should I say this. Well I do agree with the previous reviewers who said that it's pretty average since that's the over all feel that I get from reading this.

It did started out as a nice read, but for some particular reason the tension and excitement that I expected to read on this reason was not there anymore. And what really annoy me was that MC has a pretty strong Plot Armor whenever something bad happened then Plot Armor would save the day urgh, it's not really a... more>> bad thing but I expected that our MC would overcome his trials with his own skills and the likes not like this.

PS: Btw it also became a milder version of Re: Monster with all those R-18 stuff and what not happening here *sigh* <<less

First let me start off by saying my actual current rating is more like 3.5 but since I'm unable to actually give that rating directly I decided to be nice and round up.

First off I'll adress the elephant in the room. How does this compare to Re:Monster and Goblin Kingdom? To keep things short and readable I'll list the pros and cons of this in spoiler tags. But if you've read either of the other two these lists should allow you to grasp how it compares to them. If you've... more>> read neither then just reading the pros and cons for Green Skin itself will still help.

Re:Monster

Spoiler

Pros

    • MC is a bit smarter as he makes use of everything he can despite how OP his ability is although he is maybe a little too perfect and clever at times.
    • MC is most balanced in terms of human mind in monster body and has a well defined moral code.
    • MC's ability is the most powerful and does result in some interesting abilities and his evolution path is one of the most interesting among the "reincarnated as a monster" genera.
    • Has the largest relevant cast among the three that manages to have good variety of characters.

Cons

    • MC becomes OP so fast you can't really call it a "weak to strong" story and is really just "OP esper reincarnates into OP Monster Lord"
    • Due to the "diary" like writing style the story has especially weak character development outside of the MC and what he perceives of those around him
    • Large cast is also a con as it contributes to weak character development
[collapse]

Goblin Kingdom

Spoiler

Pros

    • Has a medium sized cast that is neither too large nor too small. This allows for a lot of interesting characters that have decent development
    • Battles are very well written and have a relatively good balance of drama to them.

Cons

    • MC is a probably the dumbest among the three. His one good point is his will power to not bow down to others and his ambition but even this is rather generic and not terribly interesting.
    • MC is least balanced in terms of human mind in monster body and feels FAR too human. This doesn't stop the story from constantly reminding you that it wants you to think of him as a savage monster despite his very human actions.
    • MC's abilities suck and his development is also a bit slow. While it's nice to have an MC without a god like cheat skill he should have at least a more interesting ability.
    • In counter to Re:Monster the MC feels a bit lacking is power for too long. While becoming OP too fast isn't good having the MC muddle along too much is also not good.
[collapse]

Green Skin

Spoiler

Pros

    • MC is smart and well developed. He's not a born genius but he's also not a moron.
    • MC's abilities are also fairly interesting without being too OP. It takes a while for his abilities to really develop but his unique skill has some interesting potential to it and his evolutionary path isn't too special but isn't too boring either
    • Story has perhaps the best pacing with the story neither progressing too fast nor too slow.

Cons

    • Character development is so so. While not as bad as Re:Monster in some aspects it also has the smallest relevant cast and still manages to make a lot of them fairly flat.
    • MC has decent balance in terms of human mind in monster body but is a bit too quick to abandon his human morals.
    • MC is also a bit overly brutal. In some ways this could be considered a good thing but given the personality he generally displays some of his brutality feels excessive and out of character as if he's taking such action just to help maintain the brutal tone.
[collapse]

Pros and cons aside the tone is a dark one which may turn some off but also not. See it's not so dark that it's disgusting but it also tends to make the same mistake a lot of dark series make and act as if law, order, and any sense of honor or chivalry don't exist for humans... unless you're the MC or specific characters who are either chaotic good or lawful neutral. The issue is that given the fight for survival they appear to be in it seems like they should have bigger issues to deal with than being human tr*sh to anyone they can. The issues isn't as bad as with most other dark series as the tr*sh isn't obnoxiously immoral, like in some series there most of the cast seem to almost live only to make everyone else suffer, but the series could still have benefited by lightening up the dark tone a tad and showing the cities to have at least some sense of actual law and order. <<less

The best this novel can offer is not making MC typical hero. The world exists and evolves even without his interfierence. Additionally, MC does not take 1/1000 change (like special class), but uses what he knows and already has. It gives little feeling of realism. On the other hand, novel is released with brakes and slowly. I also agree that it needs more colorful enemies and some flavour every now and then. P.s. Goblins are strangly quite.

Every antagonist up to chapter 52 besides the queen of the north has been unbearably BORING. Not like we see much of her but at least its a slight variation. For the most part, it's always lustful 'pig bastards', no creativity or thought put in at all. The story isn't anything special, I've seen it elsewhere 100 times and done better. If you are like me and have a lot of free time, maybe read this.

I can't stand it, MC fail as human and got betrayed, die and then reincarnated as monster. And as you can predicted, MC have plan for revenge on human. Well, nothing wrong at this point

The problem is about the recruited Alraune/plant monster, he know she is pain in the ass but he keep her because her usefulness for the group/tribe. She is just like timing bomb, well maybe because plot armor he can safely control her..... but bomb is bomb

MC is like this, he often say monster are cute and... more>> lovable. There are some monster heroine, but MC decline them. It just like seeing Psychopath torture and kill people with the reason to release them from pain and make them happy, but when questioned why the psyco didn't try it himself, his answer is "I will die, so no"

I've read other review and totally agree that every character is a**hole, except the Fairy. The moral lesson in this novel is; human is bad, monster is good (because MC reborn as monster)

I really wonder they must put game element in other world (isekai) novel, it really ruin the story. I level up! All injury is gone!! All negative status is removed!!! Put my point to attack power!!!! Advance into new rare OP class!!!!! I can kill the enemy now!!!!! blahhh!!!! what a cheap way to kill the strong enemy <<less

I think Green Skin is an interesting take on the monster reincarnation, in terms of progression that is. It is similar to Goblin Kingdom in that respect. It is generic in some ways, but the relationships, the people eventually get explored to an extent, and I'm sure when the translations start again we'll see more character development. Has a lot of potential, and so far it has already set up a lot of things to come in the future of the novel.

If you liked this, try "A monster who levels... more>> up". It just started getting translated, although not too similar to Green Skin, it's pretty good with a very interesting style and approach. <<less

Although Green Skin is neither perfect nor original, it is a fun, dark read. I enjoy monster MCs and evolution, so it's easy to earn points with me there. The action is gruesome and gory, so I've enjoyed it.

It does have some serious weaknesses. Aside from the MC and several of the goblins and evolved forms of goblins and Choi Seulgi, most of the characters are flat or don't get much spotlight. For instance, the two members of his harem that are with him so far feel pretty flat. It... more>> feels like one is there to be a loli and the other is only there to be a s*x object. The reason for revenge against the Saint feels excessive, but the MC admits to being despicable from the start.

The good points would be the MC's creativity and strategy. It is fun to see him plan how to do things and hunt down the humans. Goff-bro is the GREATEST. Half of the reason to read this series is just for Goff. He's totally a bro character that sees things as nicer than they are. Another good reason would be for the comedy, especially with the goblins. They have a great balance of s*upidity and cleverness that just cracks me up.

It's a gruesome mature adventure/fantasy/action series. The series as a whole isn't great, but the those goblins are fantastic. <<less

this novel had some ups and downs for me. Some parts I got a little excited about - I liked the "unique skill" system, and weapons, especially when combined with the interesting, RIM-esque main female characters (Mev excluded ugh). Everything else is seriously a heap of garbage. No mature themes present in the story whatsoever. It's a fun world when first reading it, but when you actually put any critical thought into it all, it all falls apart and you realize it's just tr*sh that doesn't really make much sense.... more>> The MC hardly feels like a regressor and is not an interesting MC at all. Which is fine if the other aspects of the novel are good - but of course they aren't. The interactions with 95% of the characters are at the level of average JP-isekai. Especially considering it's from the author of RIM, it's a really unintelligent plot honestly. Very little humor, I don't think I laughed a single time : (. I think the only part of this that comes close to RIM is with a saint girl who is like hayan and has a skill of exploding followers of the MC's religion (it's a fun idea but the execution is lackluster too unfortunately. Seriously it's not worth reading for this). The interactions with the characters are especially cringe whenever it's with the goblins, the romance with one of the goblin females is disgusting even when compared to the usual disgusting romance cringe in anime/novels, with how s*upid she is. Of course this is just one example, but there are so many different relationships that just feel so s*upid, like these characters are genuinely ret*rded or something and not even in a funny way. The translation takes a dip somewhere after ch100. I read some spoilers and a lot of the things that I thought the story seemed to have potential with weren't really executed it seems. Overall disappointing and wouldn't recommend. Nothing particularly amazing. If you did end up reading this, maybe it will raise some expectations, but it will definitely never deliver on them. <<less

This is awful. But I managed to drag myself through the tutorial. This is an achievement. Go me!!!

2nd chance is usually garbage because it invalidates the autonomy of every other character. There are exceptions—this is not one of them.

Combat is murky. It's not well-defined. Concrete stuff is just thrown out as nonsensical stepping stones so that you can cross the internal angst. Actually, everything that should be tangible is murky af. And everything should be tangible, but the writing style is garbage.

Monsters are just different colored humans with a language... more>> barrier. If this was heavy on social commentary (even SAO lol-levels of social commentary), then it might be passable. The driving message so far is that if you try hard you'll still lose even if you have knowledge from the future. So w/e, if this doesn't bother you that's fine. People looking for a 'monster' evolution story, move-along. <<less

This is a novel where a masochist will definitely like. However im not one so I will not give this one any star. First of all why I call this novel for masochist is beacause the protagonist always loose when one on one. 2nd he always finds a good excuse about why he lost. Sure we are not perfect but he already lost 5 times in a row on one on one fight. And what will he say after that because he/she is stronger than me? F***in hell dude, you... more>> already know you will not win before the battle starts. From my perspective thats not courage, youre an idiot and thats why this has no star from me. <<less

I don't know if the author try hard to be original or just can't write deeper but every time MC have to do a choice meaningful for the story development he have been choosing the most plain and dull path without any complications, twists... and interest.

It's quite frustrating.

Well, it's not so bad story it's just it doesn't suite my taste.
