Between the two sides of that other shore, upon the Bridge of Helplessness.

“Little miss, drink a mouthful of soup. Forget everything. Your next life is a new beginning, without any earthly desires or pain.”

Looking at the soup in Old Lady Meng’s hands, depression rose within me, “But what about that person in my heart?”

Old Lady Meng smiled faintly and said, “Do you see the waters below this bridge?”

“I see them.”

“Do you see the stones in the water?”

I was stunned for a moment, “Stones?”

Old Lady Meng nodded, “Go down there and become a stone. Watch the great changes in the world for seven lifetimes. After seven hundred years, you’ll be able to bring your longing with you as you reincarnate into a new life to look for him…”

This is a story about unrequited love through and through.

Rather than writing of a fairy tale-worthy romance, the author teaches her readers a very realistic lesson on moving on and accepting the truth: sometimes, it is better to move on than to yearn for what we never had.

I recommend...

    1. Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang: The MC is similarly a rock who oversees her love interest through several lifetimes, even at the sacrifice of her own well-being/self-interests. Her love for the ML is just as deep and enduring.
    2. Seven Unfortunate Lifetimes, All Thanks to a Single Moment of Impulse: If you enjoy the theme of reincarnation, then I really suggest this romantic novel. Although the story is extremely different (perhaps polar opposites), it is a hilarious, tear-jerking read.

I cry for the male side character that never got the screen time to shine. The poor guy had to suffer through a fake love and even wait for the FL for seven lifetimes without her even knowing his true feelings. My heart breaks for the guy. Why can't I find some one like him in real life?! TT o TT

The story is incredibly sad and it really broke my heart when through all 7 lifetimes it was the crown prince that had waited for her, while she waited for someone who didn't share any feelings with her and even wrote his name on her in hope of being with his lover. While the crown prince stayed and waited for 7 lifetimes, and even before in the previous lifetime he knew she wanted to use him, but he still loved her. And maybe just maybe she might have loved him as well.

All in all it's a beautiful story and deserves lots of praise! I will be following author Xinyu from now on! Her books really hit my heart and I haven't read such a sweet heart wrenching story since "Turn Back Time" I look forward into reading her stories.

The FL literally spent seven lifetimes obsessed with a man that doesn't even like her or have her in mind. The ML spent seven lifetimes obsessed with the FL who he gave up everything for including his previous life because the FL killed him to help the idiot who doesn't even care about her. I am mad as hell right now. On another note, the plotline was good I guess, the novel was well worded and descriptive. I rated it 3 stars because of how unrealistic it was, I guess... more>> that's why it is a novel. I truly believe that the FL is not worth even a hair on the ML's head. Imagine, for you that man gave up his position as crown prince, gave up everything to please you, was completely faithful to you through an entire lifetime, even allowed you to kill him just so you can please another man who doesn't give a rats ass about you and you were still so blindly in love that for seven lifetimes you only had eyes for the guy who didn't care at all about you while completely blind to the man that accompanied you through that seven lifetimes. <<less

Short, bittersweet but still a happy ending! Link to the story is broken but if you google the full title you can find it still. It’s nothing ground breaking or shocking but it does have a slight twist at the end that surprises you. It’s an unrequited love story, but not a necessarily sad one.

This one's pretty good. The twist at the end is where the real tragedy is.

Spoiler

The way I understood this story is that the seventh prince wouldn't marry FL because of his position as prince whereas the crown prince was willing to give up everything to marry her. I wondered why she didn't think about why he went that far for her. But then again, she was possibly just one of many in his large harem which could make her think that he was just adding her to his collection because she was the top courtesan and it was nothing deep. Still killing someone in cold blood after marrying them is a bit....
In any case, the FL thinks seventh prince was likely bitter that she chose to marry his brother (he probably didn't care either way) and she never got the chance to explain to him that she did it to create a chance for him to become the King. He chose to forget everything from that lifetime and move on while she struck around wanting to explain to him. I wonder what though - "I killed for you so love me"? Anyway, I can accept it if I think of it more as a case of excessive feelings from the previous life preventing her from moving on.
In a way, the crown prince got his revenge because he managed to prevent the FL from explaining to the seventh prince and continue on as his concubine after his death. The tragedy is that she only realized that her actions were s*upid and that someone else was waiting around for her for 7 lifetimes when she was about to lose her memories. Also, since he won't be waiting anymore, he won't be able to remember her when he moves to the next life either. So, basically clean slate for all of them. Then what was the point of all that pain??????

The MC had unrequited love with a man that even until she died, she weren't able to forget about him. She chose to wait for him for seven lifetimes as a stone, but in those period, she realized that the man had moved on and forgot about her. When she chose to stop being a stone and drink the soup, it was then revealed that the crown prince (whom she married in her previous lifetime for the man she loved) was waiting for her as a stone all this time. HE HAS BEEN THERE ALL ALONG WITH HER.

In their previous lifetime, he knew that she was using him, but he still loved her and was willing to die just for her. He gave up his crown prince rights for her.

[collapse]

The MC was so hung up on the man that she failed to realized that there was someone who loved her all along...

It was sad because it ended just like that. I wanted to read a sequel for their next lifetime. <<less

Yeah, that s*upid bish fully deserves never having their names washed off of her body. Poor Crown Prince. However, it's not like I don't understand - if you don't love him then you don't love him even if he loves you to death and seven lifetimes beyond death. Just that... poor Crown Prince and poor Lisui too, I guess.

It's only one chapter so it's a short read and I loved it.

Although it didn't make me shed any tears, it still left a bitter trace in my heart.

Highly recommended.

I don't really read short stories, but this one touched my heart. A must read if I must say so myself.

My heart broke for the crown prince who waited for the MC through seven lifetimes by her side. I too want a man to love me the way he did her.

Short but beautiful, when you think love will never find you again, at the end, there really was someone at your side the whole time that loved you fully... And when you finally are able to let go of old bitterness, can you open the heart for that one that only felt pure love and devotion.

I am not fond of sad endings but this short story likeable. It's too heartbreaking to watch the MC devote her 7 life cycle over a man who've forgotten her and has another woman whom he loves. It's heartbreaking also to watch the crown prince do the same thing as MC and that, the MC failed to realize his love and devotion. He waited all this time for her. ??? Would love to see another ending like both of them gets to be reincarnated and falling in love with each other.

Alert. English is not my first language.

This was a reading of an impulsive moment. Now I'm crying. This is a short one-shot about the hurt of love. The peoples actions when they are in love. The things they are ready to do and how far they are prepared to go. What they can sacrifice for their love. And how blind and egoist people in love can get.

This story shows love isn't only color pink. Is reallistic about how hurt a person can get by love.

I cried my eyes out. This was so good. I felt bitter for the two of them, they both had unrequited love. I just hope that in their next life, they'll find a way to each other. *Weep*

I feel so sorry for the Crown Prince who waited for him for 7 lives despite having betrayed him, while watching him wait for another man who loved another. I will love so much that one day someone loves me like he loved him. 😭😍🥰

I almost cried, I held back but it was not easy. 🥺😢😭

Ahhh this is one of the few times that I wish a oneshot is a full on novel. It's heart wrenching, yet leaves you yearning for more-- for a happy ending between foolishly loyal people who loved the wrong person.
