It is a good story, but does not deserve the high rating it has. I skim through 20-35% of each chapter because the mass amount of redundant info dump. The author will spend several paragraphs to describe each different skill or item choice the MC is trying to choose. Why spend a large amount of chapter space on an item the MC will not end up choosing? Saying all that, I will still recommend reading this series.

Update: I have mixed feelings about this novel. When the author decides to progress... more>> the story, it becomes one of the best novels. However, the story rarely progresses, and the novel becomes one of the most boring novels. I have no problem with world building, but more than 50% of the novel is focused on world building. The other part is focus on redundant explanation, and only a small percentage is focused on story progression. Therefore, I can not continue reading any further, and dropping the series. <<less

The story is pretty great, with good world building and character building even though most of the old characters gets less spotlight as time goes

It is a long tale about a boy who came from earth the middle of nowhere but he uses his intelligence to raise his power level and become a legend. It is a good story it does not become boring and extremely cliche like some of the other cultivation stories it has solid writing and quite acceptable cast of characters.

Starts like many xianxias with the MC teleporting to another world.

The MC is not an idiot, he doesn’t make s*upid decisions that he’s going to regret later. A thing that I really like with this novel is that the MC enemies have some real depth. They are not the arrogant s*upid type you find in xianxias, cough, PMG.

One of the cons of this novel is that the MC doesn’t have a reason to seek more power but seeks it none the less. I guess this is at least better than... more>> having a half baked reason.

Edit : this novel has some of the best fight in xianxia, Mt. Tai in this novel is the brick ;it's underestimated and many fell victim to its devastating power

Overall, one of the best reads. <<less

Decent prologue and beginning act, with the MC starting out as crippled young boy who through a throwaway reincarnation plot point (which like the avg pulp fiction xianxia is merely used as a excuse to give a young character higher than avg emotional intelligence and to draw a cheap parallel to the young chinese NEETs who consist of the majority of the audience on Qidian) and a secret treasure becomes massively talented and exceeds his peers. The plot starts to stumble from chapter 150+, as much of the world building... more>> becomes incomplete – few characters stick around and most are massively underdeveloped, main conflict becomes ill defined, some plots threads are haphazardly introduced, discarded, and randomly picked up again, much of the foreshadowing is inadequate or badly done, very little plot twists occur so you can skip large sections without missing too much of the story, etc. Because of that though, it’s a fun speed read as the story has an brisk pace after the 1st act; you can consider it similar in quality to Tales of Demons and Gods. Just don’t expect anything on the level of I Shall Seal The Heavens (which has exceptional world building, foreshadowing, and decent character development). <<less

I am giving this novel a 5/5 because of the brick. The brick really brings out that makes novels great.

Whenever the brick appears I get goosebumps and start to wonder how the arthur brings out its splendor.

I look forward to seeing the brick growing up, falling in love makeing a harem (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and reaching the pinnacle of cultivation.

i guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Cooconed Cow has an exceptional ability to build up the moment for the action and the plot hole almost nonexistent. But the best thing I found in this novel was the reaction of the people who sneered at Yi Yun but immediately silenced with a brick... It was priceless and satisfying! Cooconed also improved a lot after [Martial World].

If you don't like a slow build-up moment before the action, this story is not for you... because it was really slow.

Spoiler

For example I found one whole chapter is used only to describe the enemies technique that immediately defeated with a brick in the next chapter... me: I ain't even mad

[collapse]

But for me the real hero here is the Translator. CKTalon translation is lightning fast! Seriously dude... you probably already reached the realm of the Sovereign Translator <<less

I procrastinated reading this story for some reason. Very similar experience that I had with ISSTH in that I couldn't believe I had waited so long. Out of the very many similar feeling stories, this one is a cut above the norm. The world building is excellent, the characters usually feel well thought out and not random, and the villains all seem appropriate. Definitely worth giving a shot.

The first one hundred chapters are admittedly too drawn out. It's basically a giant prologue. That being said once he gets out of the starting area this novel gets really exciting. It's one of those you finish the daily chapters, and you get excited about tomorrow when you can read the new chapters.

Currently one of my favorite novels.

MC is smart and cunning, knows his boundaries, he is very likable in my opinion. It is more slow-paced than other xianxia genre novels but doesn't affect the plot progression at all. It can get serious at times but when the humor hits you, it's comedy gold.

This novel is great. Believe me or may the MC's "Almighty Brick" crash its wrath upon me.

It is slow-paced novel. I can say, it is the slowest-paced novel I've ever read. But this trait make it special. Because the the things like "transported/reborn to another world, have cheat items, and so on" are the common things in Xianxia, so the slow-paced and especially the MC made this novel ENJOYABLE to read! (It's my opinion, dunno about others)

Overall it is a great novel, you guys should read it, so I declare!

Currently my favorite xianxia.

Takes all of the things that you like about the genre and breaks them down so you get an understanding of the situation (the only novel that does it better is pmg, but the MC of pmg seems like the worse case scenario of what would happen if a pycho heard mu*der wasn’t illegal).

The MC gives the most appropriate action for situation he’s in without going too far or being too soft (which show’s he’s from our world and is willing to adapt. Unlike many other’s who... more>> seem to have been malignant threats to their past environments). Side characters have enough depth without being linear or predictable.

Finally the most important point, the main character's enemies in combat aren’t all villains. This allows for some interesting character development that isn’t seen enough in this genre that seems to want the mc's to kill all of their problems.

5/5 <<less

i find myself liking this
it's your general xianxia novel
MC is transported, have cheat abilities, trumps everyone, is a genius and calm
everyone (i mean everone) thinks he's weak ass and s*upid but we all know how that goes

The new tsundere is hilarious

Story can go so much into details, and it is slow paced
but despite everything I like it

Id’d give it a 4.5 if it was possible. Since it isn’t i’ll give a 5 since it tops most xianxia novels I've read. Quite slow but very diverse. Not centered on revenge or romance! It actually has a bit of plot outside of the MC’s cultivation path.

Plus it improves the more you read!

I really like how this novels been progressing so far. The MC is not arrogant, but he has a certain panache when it comes to dealing with his enemies. We are following his journey from his really shitty background (pretty much a jungle) to his rise in the world of cultivation. The antagonists are not competely s*upid. They maintain a rather realistic sense of pride as human beings, not being afraid to admit that their talent is lower than the MCs. His personality is aboslutely magnetic, drawing... more>> in many people with his charisma and reputation alone. I can't wait to see how the journey continues. There are a lot of things not mentioned such as his parents, his sister's background, just anything about that summary, so the potential is definitely there. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes ATG, ISSTH and other similar titles. <<less
