Sigh.. I was kinda disappointed how the MC was push to the edge in that tournament by a kid who has the same level as him. He has great pets who could fight almost 20 levels higher than their levels but his wolf who is already evolve was defeated easily by a kid and was almost killed. And the way he look down the tournament and already claiming the grand prize before the result is very disappointing. He is been playing for 5-6 months already but still he cant play... more>> like how ppl say he is in top1000 players in korea server. <<less

I can without any regret or fudging give this a 5 star because of how well this kept my attention.

I would go as far as to say that I liked this better than Moonlight sculptor. (Please don't take out your pitchfork, the reason is probably that I read LMS a while ago and remember that Weed was a bit annoying.) This player is ahead in the game but not ridiculously so and is a gaming addict. I also liked the touch of the VR company getting annoyed at this guy.... more>> This definitely gives it more realism.

Some description gets tedious after a bit but it's fine.
There's a bit where Ian (mc) gets quite powerful and amasses stuff that would be like end-game content but somehow the author manages to make the story more interesting and completely annihilate the onsetting power creep. I was impressed. And it wasn't in a sandbox way either but by creating some new mechanics and new elements. <<less

I really enjoy the novel, I do, that said the perspective shifts are far too frequent. As we only get two translated chapters a week, when there's perspectives shifts that tend to happen a lot, the chapters become really arduous. Sometimes there's very little substance as it's just him farming for an entire chapter and It feels like a task to push through. I'd love top stockpile chapters, but even if I waited an entire year it'd only be 104... so i'll just keep reading the 2 a week and... more>> I'll probably jsut read it from start to finish when it's entirely translated as well. <<less

I dont like how an very essential skill to training your monsters supposedly is because of his special version of his class. It just doesent make sense from an game perspective. Besides this, it is mentioned several times how the MC has thought about things no other player has, even though it seems fairly simple. The worst about this series though, is probably how it feels the universe bends forward torward the MC, making it so the MC literally never faces challenge.

Here to answer One Simple Question: Is it Shit?

Yes! One of the worst reads I had.

This is what I call a "stat check" novel.
Every time the MC moves his finger you get A prompt.
Even when he deals with the most tr*shiest of tr*sh, you get a promp.

-Enemy that you give no damn about received gazilion dmg, 15XP added, woop woop boii
- Enemy that you give no damn about 2 received trilion dmg, 30 XP added level up god dAUMN!

-Your strength increased 1 point, DAAUUUUM MC back at it again with them 1 point stat increses.

but wait

-Your Dex has increased by.00000001 CELEBRATION TIME

It's painful, it's time to stop... please
Every page of this novel is littered with this crap.
There are some novels that do it sensibly at major junctures, for example after beating bosses.
This novel does it all the time, non stop. It has no plot, just stats.
The plot of this novel is basically the MC checking his stat window.
IF I WANTED READ NUMBERS I WOULD READ BALDURS GATE GAME MANUAL. It's more interesting than this crap.

It's passable if you're not expecting anything out of the plot or characters.
Spoiler

Within the first fifty chapters the only "character arc" we got was from the turtle pet. It changed from being selfish to willing to work with the MC because of simple bribery and whispering sweet nothings. All battles are mostly resolved with his mega rare wolf pet that he got from looking for a long time.

[collapse]

I know, it's as boring as it sounds. I'm sure everyone likes hard working people in real life, but reading about a person getting ahead from working hard is pretty boring. I think one of the most interesting bits were with the players that wanted to pk him, but the way the conflict was resolved felt simple and forgettable. Huh, that sums it up quite well, simple and forgettable.

I basically read up to around chapter 60 a long time ago. I rate this 5 stars based on how much I enjoyed reading it. However, after looking back on it, there are some things that are not the best in comparison to other similar novels. The taming is great but I feel like there is just too much inequality. Sometimes it is acceptable, but it does seem a little too much like the author is purposely making the main character succeed. At first, it is just minor inconveniences, but... more>> by the time I got up to chapter 60, it does feel a lot more obvious. Especially when one of his summon is super rare and almost incredibly game-changing. Sometimes, the author might delve too deep into the technical game aspect, and forget about character development.

Spoiler

For example, I barely care when the MC learns the "Proliferation" skill, even though it helped him hunt. That doesn't tell me much except that he is improving and working hard. But I already know that, and the author doesn't really get too creative.

[collapse]

I really like how the main character has a different goal besides making money. It is a nice goal, but also somewhat a little lacking in depth. There needs to be a risk factor in it, besides just failing. There is also another downside where there's not actually any real antagonist.

There's also barely any relationships that feel real. The interactions are fine, but they just don't form a proper interesting relationships. I feel like this is another negative for novels that focus on a main character that solos things. <<less

This novel have interesting story for someone who love taming and summoning monster kind of story (this is what I like lol). The bad thing is the MC that was super dense, luckily this is not harem (at leats at the current translated chapters) because dense male lead at harem genre is annoying. The 2nd bad thing is how unbalanced hidden class compared to normal class (limlong is OP AF and the MC OP as well but actually together with skill that only he has, he also didnt have some... more>> of skill normal summoner have basically MC class is focused on raising strong monster while normal summoner balance between personal battle power and raising monster). If you are the type that like taming and summoning while at the same time can ignore those two bad points, this novel will be fun read. Btw for some one who say IRL games didnt have hidden class, try the tree of savior though how to obtain some hidden class already published by fan websites (i retired from this game because how bad publisher of this game in my country though. Region lock daaaaaaaaaamn you) <<less

This novel isn't bad there's no sense of purpose and lack of interaction between the MC and side chars. It's certainly no zhan long that actually makes a group and makes money with the objective of making a living with the game. The group here mostly plays for fun and has a life apart from gaming. Only the MC has his life revolve around the game. The biggest reason I read to this point is bc it has several tags I enjoy being; game elements, beast companions, and hardworking MC.... more>> This isn't the best gaming novel but I think it's at least worth trying <<less

i really like this one. It's suits my taste

it's suit for who loves some story like pokemon but feel wants another treat. It's kind like a game addict but he makes the game he does become more meaningful and profitable. He played in an exaggerated way because he wanted to reach his goal immediately and also be able to help his friends. Also for the animal lover, will surely be fit because the monster is described as animal shape. How to imagine a creature that is said to be a... more>> monster but has funny or cool characteristics <<less

All in all, not a bad novel, but also not very satisfying.

Especially because of the poor dialogues, the cardboard characters and the week plot lines.

As for the other parts of the story, they are reasonable and without great flaws, but also without any brilliance.

This novel is not a difficult read and unfortunately not a challenging one.

Kind of bland really, we don't even know MC that well as a matter of fact. Mmo system is all right but does suffer from inconsistencies. From what I can understand, the best players are basically either the high-levels or those with hidden classes. Realistically though in an mmo hidden classes are s*upid hard to implement. The only reason I see for them is basically another plot device to seperate important characters from mooks. Though, as I am a sucker for world building I enjoyed what the author has made... more>> even if the progression is predictable. My advice is, if you've run out of stuff read this, as its basically turned into a light hearted story cuz author lacks ability to provide tension and/or dosen't know how to work with his own MCs traits. The reason I say that is because as of ch. 88 the better plots he has written involves other players (the pvp final was great tbh). Writing his character to be a loner was fine but he shot himself in the foot because it seems like hes good at writing character interactions. Which in turn makes the story boring as he is forced to write about his boring grind, alone. Though with all the foreshadowing and some pov splitting I have hope he has something for the later chapters.

All in all decent read if you've run out. As a novel slightly better than mediocre (based on current chaps) <<less

New review: this MC is not dense like the MCs of Ark and LMS about relationships, has normal friends irl and in the game. I love one of his retainers, Kaisar. That guy is OP and doesn't listen to the MC. It is really fun reading the interactions between them.

Old review: I am not good at writing reviews, so I will just simply say:

If compared to Ark and LMS, then I am really pleased with the MC as he is not abusing his pets/summons and that they are satisfied... more>> with him and he with them. <<less

The novel had a lot of potential, the premise isn't that bad and the first few chapters wasn't bad either but I read on and on and on waiting for the novel to elevate itself to something more than mediocre but it did the opposite and just became unbearable.

So there are quite a few problems with this novel:

1. The Protagonist. He's extremely bland. The novel introduce him as a college student who doesn't really want to go to college and is severely addicted to a game. Then sh*t happens, he... more>> resets and gets into the bet mentioned in the synopsis. Great. Awesome. But after that bet... his motivation is as vague as I wanna be da best. The problem is that he doesn't really improve, neither as a person or a player. Sure he gets new skills, equips and pets but he's set up since the very beginning to be extremely good at game control and mechanics. So all that the "improvements" serve to do is to make you go "wow, so cool" before they're inevitably overshadowed by the protagonist and thrown to the side. Personality side is, as mentioned, bland. It's just hard to even describe because his personality just morphs into different things according to what the author thinks is cool for the scenario. At first, he feels like just a normal guy and seems to care for his first pet a lot. And then later, he's just a leveling idiot who doesn't care for anything else other than efficiency. Top it of with the peerless denseness innate to all these type of protagonists and you get a jarring and uninteresting main character whose goals are vague and whose actions are hard to root for. He's also still in college even though he's earning more than he ever will with a half-baked degree that he'll probably never earn. It's probably just an excuse for the author to force RL interaction between players and to have a venue for the protagonist to show off once in a while.

2. The second is weird inconsistencies and illogical plot points. These doesn't seem to have any reasons other than the author being sloppy. Like every few chapters, the main character will recall that he had a very important quest or that he has a certain skill or thing to do but somehow forgot about it. The power hungry dude who doesn't rest for a few days in order to grind just forget about things that might just make him stronger? Yeah, right. The author just sets up a lot of things without payoff. A lot things are forgotten and when they aren't, they're kind of extremely predictable.

3. The NPCs. They're very weird and inconsistent. At the start, I thought it was just gonna be like the MMOs we have now cause there were things like repeatable instanced quests. But the situation quickly mutates as the protagonist gets to the part of doing unique non-instanced quests. At times, it's really hard to tell if they have emotions or sentience. They're made all the more jarring by their rigid depiction in the beginning.

4. The game company. After the 250-300 chapter points, there are a few chapters about the game company, explaining it's inner workings and plans (really just feels lazy though since it takes the suspense out of everything). In these chapters, we see that the company is very... incompetent. They can't do sh*t right and are always getting screwed over by one guy (the main character). But they don't have countermeasures, concrete plans or maybe even brains. They exist to just stare at moniters all day and sometimes go "Wah! Dude did something again! What are we gonna do? Ahhhhhhhhhhh!" Damn you guys. I hope your pays get cut.

5. The items. The items early on in the game were pretty good in both description and usage. They weren't exactly stellar in anything but they were easy to take in and remember. Later on though, items become pretty much an undesirable component. Every item has like 5 additional effects that need to be described in words, not to mention the other +stats. It's just a huge chunk of text that makes you dizzy but isn't actually substantial because they're never mentioned again.

Alright. I'll just stop there since there's no point to keep bashing it more anyways. The tldr is that if you just want to turn off your brain and read an at-best decent novel than go ahead. But you're not gonna be finding any genius ideas here. <<less

At first it was good but as previous comments said the author introduced lots of stuff but just forgot that they existed and also the translation is really awful after some point so I kinda got tired trying to make sense of from the mtl and it just didn't seem fun anymore to read it so I dropped it.

What made me stop reading this was how nasty the MC was to his summons. Bookbook in particular, round about chapter 350, right after he and the girlfriend comment on his new appearance not being cute anymore. After reading that, I no longer cared about those two.

Well done author for turning me against your story in a flash.

While it starts out pretty good and maintains this throughout, the nastiness towards the tamed monsters, or summons, was too much in the end. Whilst not quite miserly and grinch-like, the MC does... more>> come across as mean as time went on, which reminded me a lot of ARK.

That, I managed to finish, this though, no. <<less

Great story!! Sadly, I stopped half-way because of some circumstances. I got to find this because of Monster Paradise and it's because I'm really interested about monster taming etc or anything about monsters hahaha not as an enemy of course. This is a good read actually and the flow is just right. There are a lot of interesting points.

Decent novel.

The author will give MC skills but MC will only use them a few times and then forget about them.

The biggest issue I have with this novel is the translation at times. 1st group did a really good job.
2nd group changed the names of a few pets and skills.
3rd group (~Chapter 253) changed the grammar and flow and it seems a bit better than MTL.
