Great novel and you will surely burst out on laughing upon reading this. Trully recommended novel. It's sad that it's translation will take on for a while. It's a unique novel, some quotes are facts related to teachers and human socialization. Im glad it's not about revenge and etc. It's more lighter mood and has positive insights. Comedy and dont think just because romance isnt included in that discrisption doesnt mean it doesnt have one. It has also a romance in it making it complete. As well as action drama... more>> etc. <<less

Already read until the newest one, this novel mainly about 'Wow' factor, wow, he can do this, that's impossible, wow, he can do that, it's a miracle.... stuff like that

Although its a new experience at the first few chapter, it lost its magic after a few hundreds of so of repeating chapter (same MC 'wow'-ing the audience), most of the time the opponent deserved a slap, but sometime I really want to slap zhang xuan for his unreasonable conduct and greed.

Not good enough as a novel, but not bad... more>> enough as a tr*shy novel. Read it just as a filler between your favorite novel.

3 star it is. <<less

Edit after dropping it after reading more than 1000 chapters:

Yeah, notice how most people rating this highly has read less than 1000 or even below 500 chapters? I'll rate it 5/5 stars for the first sixth of the novel (around 300-400 chapters) and 4/5 for the first 1/3 of the story (to around 700 chapters), but after that it takes one huge nosedive and gets progressively worse.

The thing is that not only are the same jokes repeated over and over again while the MC becomes dumber and dumber the... more>> more he cultivates, there's a huge lack of effort put into the story and the worst part of all was when romance was introduced. Then the MC turns into a full-blown ret*rd, not even exaggerating here. He just can't take a hint and is so head over heels that he stops thinking altogether. All his blood went to his D and stays there 24/7, leaving his brain lacking then necessary nutrients and oxygen to survive, so as a defensive effort, 90% of his brain just had to die, keeping barely 10% working, which just happens to be just the parts keeping him alive with basic survival instincts. That's pretty much what happened. The author breaking his character for cheap romance that doesn't make sense, it's pretty much at the level of being offensive already, instead of faceslapping enemies, the MC now faceslaps himself as the readers facepalm in cringe.

Another thing, it's not really funny when the author repeatedly uses the gag "Oh no, I wish I could be low profile and not ruin everything, I feel so ashamed, boo hoo" right after the MC, while KNOWING, and it's stated in text that he KNOWS, ruins everything and thus stands out. At least give him the shamelessness to do so and laugh about it instead of whining that it's out of his control even though it's clearly not.

Start of old review (722 chapters) :

Hmm... This is the first novel that I've ever managed to read all the machine translated chapters of and yet been able to enjoy it. That says two things, 1: it was enjoyable and amusing enough to keep reading, and 2: it was simple and the plot was thin enough that it doesn't matter even if you don't understand 25% of what's happening, because you can still enjoy all the face slapping and get the general idea of what happens, unlike with other novels where you barely understand anything because it's too complicated.

This novel is certainly worth reading, it's amusing and has just enough comedy to hook you in for the ride. The biggest flaws are probably the overall crappy plot+crappy power systems, the constant and incessant repetition of the same formula along with recycling the same jokes over and over and over again. Somehow it was still funny enough unlike some other novels, but seriously, you can guess what will happen every time. The MC will never get into any peril, and if he does, it will be solved in a chapter or two in an amusing way.

I lost count on how many times the same scene repeated itself in different circumstances, he's always going in, everyone is underestimating him only to get slapped hard in the face while everyone asks themselves if "he's really human" and marvel at his ridiculous cheats. It gets to the point where you pretty much know every time what will happen. If he reached the peak of a stage and then goes to a competition or something like that, you can be sure that he will breakthrough right in front of everyone in just seconds or minutes, leaving everyone dumbfounded. If he meets a savage beast or spirit beast, he will beat it into submission. If he meets high-ranked and strong people, he will use his cheats to solve their problems and leave them forever in his debt, going from condescending arses to meek servants. He never fails to leave people dumbfounded in one way or another, the very point of his existence is to destroy peoples worldviews and do heaven-defying acts.

It's pretty much just a giant wish fulfilment power trip. He never has to truly make any effort for anything, if he lacks money, people will come to make a bet with him or he will find a convenient treasure auction or treasure pavilion with a convenient "appraise treasure, get stuff" game. If he lacks cultivation techniques, people will arrive that can help him with that or he will find an opportunity. If he needs a fast flying beast, there's sure to be an overpowered and convenient one around the corner that he can tame easily while baffling even more people. If he's in a contest and needs help, relevant people will come exactly when someone mentions how he lacks this or that and handing whatever is missing to him, seemingly only to slap their faces. You get the point.

It's surprisingly a great read even though it's so redundant with horrible writing in anything related to a good plotline. Seriously, I don't know if I've ever seen a novel that is so damn forced and unbelievable in many ways. Then we also have the usual power up thing where "there's always a bigger world out there", first we only know of 9 basic cultivation ranks and we're stranded in a low class kingdom that isn't ranked, then we move on to a 2nd class kingdom, then a 1st class, then a titled kingdom, then we get to some other place and it keeps going with kingdom exchanged for empire with the same ranks and the MC progressively passes through one rank at a time while cultivating so that he EXACTLY fits in with the lower-middle range of cultivators in the new place, then he gets to the peak only to go to the next place where he's once again at the lower-middle range.

Well, no matter. Good read. recommended even though it has so many glaring flaws. Read it for what it is, a pure comedy full of face slaps at every corner, cultivation and anything else barely matters at all. <<less

More of these feel good Chinese light novels where petty villains are dime a dozen, and MC is all knowing cheat that everything always goes his ways.

There are no setbacks, no challenges, because anything that could remotely be challenging would be solved by his cheat skills. MC powerup at impossible speed pretty much whenever the plot requires, there are never any sense of urgency or crisis.

Subpar plot and writing, cliche and cringey, and the prideful trope that reign in these similar novels. Everyone cares way too much about their pride... more>> and "face" to a point it is starting to hurt these stories.

Read one of these Chinese LN and you've read most of them all <<less

The story is about a shut in being transmitted to a world of cultivation. The twist in this story is that the MC was a librarian in his previous life and now is a teacher. The teaching system seems to be based on cultivation sects. Each student picks their own teacher who in return pick them. Once you pick a teacher you are pretty much stuck with them. They also tend to have teachers who in the West would be graduate students teaching undergrads, meaning they are only a few... more>> years removed from each other. The story then revolves around the great cheat the MC got and how he uses it to show up people. It's quite heavy on the plot armor. A lot of times you will see the MC stating to himself that he needs to keep a low profile or else horrible things will happen to him. The Very next thing he does is show of his cheat skill for everyone to see. In case their is a misunderstanding that it is not a cheat like skill he even goes out of his way to show people that it is in fact a cheat like skill.

Spoiler

For example early on in the story he goes to a library to read cultivation manuals, the librarian is mad at him for just flipping through all the books and disrespecting the books and bans him from the library. Another student wants to show him up and starts asking questions about the books in the library. He answer everything spot on. This gives the other people the idea that he might have studied everything before. So to prove that he was not disrespecting the books but actually studying he goes and tells them where the book is located in the library and what page the solution is on. For someone who is trying to HIDE his skill this is like putting it on a advertis**ent board and going look at me, I can read thousands of books and know every word of it inside of a day.

[collapse]

The author seems to not have planned out the story. He writes a few chapters and then changes his mind or needs more plot armor and drastically changes parts of the story to fit the current situation. <<less

So. F*cking. Funny.

This book takes a premise with amazing potential and steers it in a comical yet great direction. It's hilarious.

The only 2 flaws are

  1. that the MC is a little too OP. Besides that, he's a little too Mary Sue-ish; his cheat solves almost every one of his problems. Most of the time, I'd have a problem with that, but his cheat requires specific parameters to work so he always has to weasel his way into making his cheat save him.
2. He's too lucky. Like, s*upid lucky. Somewhat unrealistically lucky.... more>> This seems to mostly apply to face-slapping parts of the novel, but on occasion whenever he needs something someone just gifts it to him or it falls into his lap somehow.

It's hilarious in the best way: It's funny, yet it doesn't make light of important issues. It's funny without making the entire story s*upid, without making the plot some weird farce like some other "comedy" stories.

I have not laughed that hard in a while. 4.5/5. <<less

I understand previous comments about being repetitive and formulaic. Actually its precisely that which is the strenght of this WN. It's incredible how the author can use basically the SAME social interaction and make it refreshing and fun which IMHO makes it even HARDER in its own way.

Its like the Author is slapping our (the reader's) faces saying something along the lines:

"Huh, you think this father can't write a good novel using the same trope over and over again? Hold my beer".

A novel isn't bad because you "figured out" the... more>> author thought process or because its predictable. Hell, movies like Avengers were good yet predictable but didnt detach from what makes an enjoyable story au contraire since you know whats coming makes it so you have expectations.

I like to think of LHP as like your everyday eggs. You always eat the same thing but maybe you scramble them or add a little spice which makes it different everytime and while its repetitive, its always enjoyable and maybe you stop eating them for a while, but you always come back for a taste. While eggs may be trivial for some, this novel definitely is not. One of my fav novels ATM.

This is the kind of novel that you HAVE to try for yourself before making a decision which is why I only defended the novel with my opinion and didn't actually review its content. So don't take our word for it! <<less

I agree with some of the people before this, it's pretty repetitive. It was decent at the beginning, but I've kept on noticing that the same pattern keeps on happening. I've ignored it before, but after the plot became a wash-and-repeat process, after 6-12 times I kind of just gave up continuing on with the story.

Basic Gist of Plot After 200+ Chapters (Possibly a spoiler) :
1:Arrive at a new setting
2:Cannon fodder (s) looks down on the MC, minor character (s) all think he's foolish or feels bad for... more>> him because of his "eminent doom" since MC offended the cannon fodder (s)
3:In reality MC is already ahead of the game, so after a test/trial (which he uses

for) he face slaps everyone.
Add in some new characters along with new scenes and repeat the process. So, if you want to enjoy a story with only face-smacking and no real plot, this is a fitting story for you.

[Overall]:

Character Depth: [2.0/5.0] (After some of the characters get face smacked, they still don't learn their lesson.)

Plot: [2.1/5.0] (Meh.)

Translation: [4.2/5.0] (Decent, not many grammatical issues, the only reason my rating is at a 3 and not a 2) <<less

This novel got me to stay awake to finish all translated chapters all at once. It's refreshing to have an MC be the teacher, do everything for his students while working hard to become strong himself. The novel is funny and definitely entertaining. From the start where he gets his students, his interaction with the people around him and getting out of tight spots. I hope the succeeding arcs will maintain the type of enjoyment I've had so far.

Alright, where do I start with this...

For the negatives, there's... a fair amount really, monotony, lack of character development, lack of storyline, weak setting, etc.

For all the negatives though, I personally found myself really enjoying the core storyline that comes out like... once every 100 odd chapters. No seriously, I think maybe 25 chapters directly have anything to do with a larger storyline. There's a fairly specific style of humor being used throughout the novel that that is probably the main factor influencing if you'll like the novel or not.

Being... more>> honest, there's a lot more wrong with the writing of this book than there is that is right, especially given the repetitive nature, but it has a certain charm to it that grabbed my attention. I don't know if I would fully recommend this to anyone, but I think for the people who enjoy the writing, they will enjoy it a lot. <<less

Quite a relaxed yet an engaging read.

As for all the complains about repetition, honestly there is not a single novel here over 500 chapters where the stories/arcs don't repeat. Repeat will exist but it is definitely tolerable and more fun to read than pointless young master fighting typically found in other novels.

Also the story starts to expand to critical matters after the 800's as the MC was simply too weak before, so I would say enjoy the ride.

It's steadily going downhill as usual. I don't really want to get into how it's going down but the fact is most of the other posts have it pretty much on point. The MC's performs his whatever the crowd stands in dazed amazement after going on and on about how this is impossible for yada yada. I can honestly think of no actual villain in this story the truth is the villains are actually well meaning people who don't know that the screw up kicked the bucket. Now they are... more>> trying to take down a character with plot armor and cheats. To put it in my own terms its like the coworker at work who does all his sh*t wrong so everyone has to stay late and fix it. Then you all finally decide to get him fired you find out he was working for a rival company, which his Dad apparently owned and you guys are now going to have to work under an "idiot" who suddenly turned into the VP. It doesn't matter that he was suddenly smart or that he was from the beginning. That s*upid person who did nothing is now better than you. That guy who did nothing is now the VP. I would most definitely be pissed and have a bad taste in my mouth. Coughing up blood is even a possibility. <<less

I like the story, it's a fun read.

It does have it's problems though. 5 major ones in fact.

  1. The limitations to the main character (MC) 's "gift" are unclear, and most of his obstacles are too easily surmounted. Without proper obstacles, it is hard for us to really connect to the troubles that the main characters face. One is in how the MC can gain strength so quickly and easily.
  2. There is no setting. The entire story doesn't given you a proper imagery or even any sense of world building. Because of it's flow, though, setting doesn't tend to be a strong limiting role; but it does still hamper it's growth potential.
  3. The female characters are set in this role of "I'm too beautiful so you must be trying to use some sort of trick to get me to like you" while the MC isn't even thinking as such; or the female characters are sweet and docile (mainly his students), unless in fight mode.
  4. There is absolutely no character development. And though I can't say that none of the side characters are crucial to the story, I can say their presence is for a very limiting role. It's all about the MC being some "Hidden Dragon, Crouching Tiger" that no one even realized, albeit it's not him having a skill set, just him using this overpowered "gift" he received out of nowhere. If the story was not so funny with it's shameless side characters here and there, I would not have continued to read.
  5. Now, we have the slow pace of the story. Scenes in the story tend to be dragged out for multiple chapters unnecessarily. The pace is slow, and some of the logic isn't reasonable. In fact, the logic is as fantastical as the genre (*cough* Fantasy Genre- Fantastical... get it?*). And even though the author tries their best to finally turn events so that there is more reasoning behind what the MC says, it starts to skew all over again.
Well, the story has many more problems, but nothing as major as the five I have listed. Other than it's problems, it is quite fun to read. There are many comic relief scenes, and a lot of blood boiling exchanges that make you wish the main character can beat down his opponent!

All and all, with 3 being average among the currently translated novel database of it's genre, and 5 being exceptional, I believe... more>> this story get's a 4/5. The comedy, and unique aspect of the main character and his "gift" are what saves this story. <<less

[c85] Interesting and funny story, with a male lead who isn't constantly drooling over the beautiful women. The various enemies/mini-antagonists are my favorite point. Their decisions and attitudes may put them in opposition to the main character, but they aren't complete

idiots. It doesn't take being beaten down continuously for most of them to realize they might be in a bad situation now. Their despicable levels are low- to mid-ranged, which makes them more believable than the over-the-top stuff we see in a lot of cultivation stories. (The recurring ones are... more>> obviously slower on the uptake.)

Some of the premises are strange, like the master teacher thing. But I try to interpret that stuff as "That's how the novel's world is." Definitely worth a try.

EDIT: [c114] Having read some more, I have to admit that the series is getting repetitive. I still have to admire the fact that he blatantly uses his ability without giving a care as to how to explain it to others. Some MCs try to come up with plausible explanations and end up with a web of lies. This one doesn't even bother explaining. <<less

A humorous novel, heavy on verbal and situational comedy. Verbal in the sense that everyone talks 'casually' and shamelessly like in sitcoms, situational in the sense that there are physical aspects and reactions.

The MC transmigrated from a modern world to a cultivation world and was blessed with a xianxia version of a Xerox machine combined with a search and Wiki function. Basically all he has to do is stare at someone to know his or her statistics and factual background. By flipping some books he can copy and imprint their... more>> contents into his mind library, which also helpfully corrects and filters out the errors so that he gets the best and accurate information.

This is a novel about how the MC shamelessly uses his cheats to take advantage of the situation and annoy those who look down on him. Take the coarse dialogue from say, My Beautiful Teacher and put them in a know-it-all MC like Emperor's Domination, yet narrow the scope to something smaller and localized like Finest Servant.

Basically you get to read all about the MC using his vastly powerful Google and CSI search engine to slap the faces of the arrogant and the petty. Humorous, though after 35 chapters the story is still just warming up. <<less

This novel is pretty good if you see it. The cheat of MC is logical, even explains the origin of cheat. It was limits the cheat area with just knowledge. For eg MC can't refine pills or weapons even having knowledge about it. This is interesting concept. This also sees to balance the various cultivation speed of different world by introducing concept of time dilution. GOOD TRANSLATION. Comic element is maintained throughout the series.

Some issue over repeated face slapping incidents, understating MC on regular basis etc is a decent read.

I'm up to chapter 706, can anyone tell me if the author ever manages to go 50 chapters without introducing another new character surnamed Mo? I swear I can already name at least 3 Elder Mo's, 2 Princess Mo's, and myriad Senior/Junior/Brother/Sister Mo's.

Aside from the author's stunning lack of creativity in naming people and places, I'm quite enjoying this novel. Much better than the last few novels I've read, though "History's Number One Founder" did the teacher genre better (even if it did steal half its disciples from other novels/manhua).
