And then, after 1,600 years, the seal of the God of Darkness was released and he is liberated. The God that was now free didn’t really have any special intent for revenge and didn’t have anything to do, so he decided to reincarnate as a human and enjoy the life of a human being.

The human that had obtained the soul of the Dark God and was born as ‘Kuromiya Haine’, a human that -while being human- possesses the powers and memories of the God of Darkness. The strongest existence.

While saving the heroes that fight monsters, and fighting against the other Gods that are trying to rule the humans, he acts in order to make the world a better place.

Quite boring. Nothing new.

The God of Darkness lost in a battle against the other gods and was sealed. After 1, 600 years he has been released by the Goddess of Light.

Worried about the influece the other gods might have on the humans during his absence, he decided to reincarnate..

although he could've just create a body instead of using the body of a newborn, I mean, he's a god, I doubt it would pose any problems to him, but for the sake of the plot he reincarnated in a normal family... more>> situated in a small village.

His goal is to check the changes the humans have been since they were created. Ok. Boring but ok.

His personality is.. Err.. Boring. He doesn't have neither the calm demeanor nor the intelligence a god should have. Especially after living for more than a thousand years. Everything about him seems to scream: " PLAIN! " Even the plot is not that good. The style is way too simple. The chapters are short. I can't find anything in this novel that make it different than the others.

In brief, this is just a normal story with a normal MC with a useless goal.

2 stars for the translations. <<less

The only positive thing I can say about this is that the MC is somewhat original. I've read novels that portray an MC on his journey to godhood (like Death March... or just about any Chinese novel), but I've never before read a series where the MC starts out as a God.

Now for the negatives; even though I said that the MC's situation is somewhat original, it's only the premise that's original. As for the MC's personality, well it's still the same spineless, boot-licking, pushover, beta male personality that's common... more>> in Japanese novels. Now objectively speaking, that sort of personality is not technically something that can be considered a negative, as it should be judged by personal opinion. But when the premise is that the MC is literally a God who created all things and has been alive since the beginning of the world, is it really appropriate to portray him as the typical pushover, herbivore, surprised and scared at every turn, spineless, subservient, etc etc etc? I mean it's inconsistent and annoying that the person who literally created all women somehow gets all flustered because he accidentally saw a girl in her underwear. Not just that, there's common knowledge in the story that should be universal no matter how long ago the MC was "sealed, " but the MC, who created all things, is still somehow ignorant of it.

There's also the author's annoying habit of beginning every chapter with a lengthy summary. Seriously, what is this, Dragon Ball Z? It takes all of a single day to read this entire series, did the author think I'd forget the things I just read 2 minutes ago? Even if you're looking at it from the perspective of real-time releases, the duration between releases shouldn't be more than a week, right? Nobody's going to forget the premise of the story in that amount of time, so it's simply not worth it for 1/4 of every chapter to just consist of repeating the same information over and over again.

Then there's the asinine good vs evil shounen schtick. Even if you put aside that the MC has no personal goals or objectives and does everything blindly for the sake of humans (who are just one of many species he created), the MC keeps on mentioning (the story is written in first person btw) that he's glad that the person he just killed was a demon instead of a human, because otherwise it'd be mu*der... they're both sentient species, right? The MC was originally not a human, right? In fact, both species should have been at least in part created by him, right? Yet somehow if humans die at his hands it's mu*der, but if a demon dies at his hands it's just par for the course? That goes beyond shounen-standard shallow imo.

On the same note, even though the MC was sealed for 1600 years with nothing to do, he still never stopped to think about the perspectives of others? Just how much time would he actually need to properly reflect? I mean there's probably a reason that the goddess who "loves" him still took the other gods' side. Does the MC ever wonder or inquire as to what that reason is? NO, even after 1600 years. Just way too shallow.

tl;dr, the premise and the characterization are just way too far apart for any intelligent person to find this novel enjoyable. The plot itself wouldn't be so bad if not for the grade-school-level morals and ethics it entails. <<less

Our MC got imprisoned by the other gods for daring to oppose the idea that humans should be s*aves of the gods. He was imprisoned for 1, 600 years unjustifiably by those evil gods, and he does not feel any need at all to get back at them. Furthermore, the light god who released him talks to him as if he were her lover. What kind of lover imprisons their lover for 1, 600 years?

[collapse]

This novel has only just begun, and I already hate this MC. I will continue to read for a while to see if it gets better, but I am not holding my breath.

I've been giving it a chance but it's so vapid, shallow and black-and-white that I just can't put up with it anymore.

Main character is a "god" except that he acts only for the benefit of humans (which he and 5 other gods made in this world). It makes no sense in context and the only way it could "work" is if readers find his attitude relatable because he acts like other shounen-type protagonists (one-sided, morally self-righteous- not to imply every shounen protag is so badly written).

He gets outraged that the... more>> gods want their creation to worship them and demands that all gods immediately stop interfering with humans on their world forever. Unsurprisingly the other gods don't agree to immediately ditch their creation and just leave (to his surprise).

The story could still work even with such a shallow background story, if the author focused on developing characters through interaction to make them relatable and interesting... but the characters are just as flat as the premise.

I'd give this one a pass if you have any standards. <<less

Pretty light and fluffy. Main character is basically a god who's a "humanity nerd", so his only real motivations are to try out different things humans do and get them to get along with each other. He even reincarnates into a human just because he really wants to savor observing how they've changed, spends days peeling potatoes because it's something humans do that he's never tried before, and so on. So yeah, no serious stakes. Despite the seeming revenge story setup, main character reconciles with one of the other five... more>> creator gods in the prologue. He treats various standard corruption and politics elements of the fantasy story like a dad scolding his children, as there's very little they could do to actually threaten a god. And the god's themselves act more like teenagers with grudges between each other and odd personality types, as there's very little they can do to permanently harm each other either (save one rather dark reveal in the backstory). Most arcs are about repairing or creating interpersonal relationships between the "heroes" of the five other gods or the gods themselves, and the others the main characters meet along the way. Little bit of mystery as to where monsters and fuel source for modern technology comes from early on, but nothing major. By chapter 100 or so the series starts outright stating it's aspirations to be a fantasy comedy (as opposed to say high school comedy), with characters meta textually pointing out who the "straight man" characters are and whatnot.

All and all a relaxing read, I'm quite enjoying it. If you're interested in slice of life / comedy story in the framework of a sci-fi / fantasy type setting a la Chrono Trigger, give it a try. <<less

Really...I'm so ashamed for giving this LN lowest star but still finished reading it.

At first I enjoyed the world concept, the gods and heroes. But then...i personally doesnt like it. Well perhaps I'm the only one who hates the story even though I finished it.

It become so ridicolous when the Light God doesn't realize that she becomes double... why? Because human vessel couldn't contain God's soul completely. And the light God got her own darkside (Shadow). And the Dark God was so busy maintaining his harem. The Demon Kings? They... more>> doesn't deserve the title Demon King..

Spoiler

Don't read this... spoiler at the end

The Bad Gods suddenly become good Gods. Even the Earth God that supposed to die was alive in the black hole. The water God that was dirty been purified. And the heroes Fight the last boss with the help from the Gods and the Demon Kings.... ahhh

This is a light story. No depth and no hardship. The premise is nice enough but there isn't anything here to challenge the reader.

Nor is there anything that exists to challenge the protagonist. Even in terms of an all powerful MC there are methods by which the things important to that MC can still be put in danger. I'm not feeling it here. This feels like a cheap old anime plot where everyone is destined to be happy.

The author has missed an opportunity to show how the MC used his... more>> secrets and grew his power while young. This is a staple of these reborn OP MC stories because it's fun to imagine ourselves growing and using those powers while simultaneously managing that secret. Does the MC tell anyone? How do they react? How does he defend the secret? Does anyone figure it out?

Not here. This guy grew up and everything was perfect and sparkly?

Translation work is quite good however. <<less

Like wine, except thrown back in time.

It gets worse as the story progress. I've written long and comprehensive reviews before but I don't even think this story deserves that. It was good, then it was okay, then it was droll and finally, by chapter 130ish), it was infuriating.

MC started cool, became a limpwristed wimp.
Supporting characters started each with unique personalities that didn't fit exactly existing archetypes. Ended up being a bunch of cardboard cutouts.
Story was non-standard, at the very least. Then it turned out into your usual companion-a-thon... more>> filled with the aforementioned cardboard cutouts.

I would give it 4/5 stars if it had ended after the Water hero arc (don't remember the chapter, 80ish?). Everything after is 2/5 stars at most. <<less

I really hate the ways novels like this are overrated, like arifuta. The MC behaves as if he is really a person, treating biasedly to human, don't care about other races, although he is a god. His personality is the same as a high school student in other WN, nothing special except his power

Mediocre.

The gods and heroes are beyond disappointing. The world is mediocre. The characters and their stories are mediocre, etc. etc. This is another story that ticks all of the boxes of its premise but doesn't use any of those elements well.

The only upside is that the MC is competent, but the fact that everything else is so... underwhelming means that I can't see the story getting much better.

I'd read this if you don't have much else to read or you just want something simple where you don't have to think.

If I had read this novel before other kingdom building novels such as Release the Witch, Genjitsushuji no Yuusha, and In a Different World with a Smartphone, I would have likely given a higher favourability rating to this novel as a whole. Apart from the fact that this novel has serious problems in regards to its priorities in world building, this novel has it all. From overpowered protagonist to fantasy elements - Gods, monsters, heroes, fighting, etc.

Now what do I mean by priorities in world building? It's nothing big. It's... more>> just that the world in this novels seems to only center around Churches. That's it. While I do understand the whole narrative of this story focuses on the creation of the world, the perspective of this novel is too narrow in comparisons to others I have come across. Try reading Invincible Saint Salaryman - even in that novel where there is a central power that is dominated by a Church, they have other countries that are ruled by a different power.

Anyways my point is, even after 200 chapters in the reader gets no sense of any country names/boundaries, of any higher order rulers in the world apart from the Church officials, any non-church military powers, and so on. While I do like the fact that the author attempts to "better the world" through the Church, I would have honestly liked to see some more world progression apart from the Church, and more onto the world's citizens itself.

Characters in this novel aren't that bad, but again I would have loved to see more vast array of characters apart from the ones whose affiliations are with the Church. You have the indifferent OP protagonist, the heroic and chivalric leaders, the sly villains, the arrogant people that hold high positions and so on.

... I have no idea where I am going with this at this point, but here was my short thoughts on this novel so far. While it is heaps better than the novel Kumo Desu-ga in that there is plenty of human interaction with the OP characters, this novel doesn't particularly excel in any shape or form since it has a rather big weakness of world building. But heck, as long as you're the type of person who loves isekai/fantasy novels, then giving this novel a try wouldn't hurt. <<less

At first, I liked this novel. It was a bit funny, and light read with a good mixture of action and off time. However, later the novel became just more annoying and boring. Overall I have few problems with the novel.

The novel revolves around conflict with gods. They are supposed to be the ones who created the world. So they are old and powerful. However, the personalities of almost everyone, especially gods are just awful. First, the MC. He is supposed to be the most powerful god who was sealed... more>> for 1600 years. After his seal was released, he went ahead and reincarnated as a human for the purpose of learning how humans live and all about them. So what does he do after he is born? He lives in a remote village deep in the forest, does not know anything at all of what is going on outside the said village and have no interest in human civilization and society. How does this even make sense? Why would he live for 18 years and not explore or at least learn history and other things? That was the whole purpose of being reborn. Personality of MC is that of an average teenager, maybe very slightly more mature. He is constantly spawning s*upid lines and gets flustered like a h**ny teen. He retains all the knowledge of a god, why the hell is he like this? He is a walking contradiction between what he says and thinks! Now, all of the other gods and probably humans in this novel. All of them are conceited fools. They have been there for 1600 years and did not learn anything? Every single one of them is just a clone of one another. They spawn almost identical lines; they show an identical misunderstanding of humans, they behave in almost identical ways. The power dynamic between the gods is a mess too. First, the darkness is the strongest; he is the father of all gods. Then they say the light is absolutely superior to the darkness and can kick his ass while sleeping. After that apparently, darkness can pull of a black hole trick and overpower the light. But the light also has shadow power, so maybe black hole won't work on that and light is stronger? Who knows what will happen later. Also darkness apparently can swallow all elements except light, but the light has an advantage over all other elements, but that advantage is not really specified. Another problem with the powers are that they are super boring and not well thought through. Apparently, each person has a combination of elemental powers within them and one of them is usually the strongest. But others can also be at a high level and it is shown that with the training they can increase. However, everyone only uses one power by themselves, only the element they are the best at. Why? There is no reason they can't do it. Especially since the heroes do combine elements between themselves. Did no one in that world try at least training to separate powers? Even if not combining, they should be able to use them separately. The wrighting is pretty simplistic and kind of amateurish here. For me, the best parts of the novel are the heroes and their interactions. I think all heroes have good personalities, pretty flushed out and interact in an interesting way. I also like the humor in the novel. It feels natural and realistic. I would rate this higher, but it became so repetitive and boring after almost 200 chapters, I can barely tolerate it now. <<less

Ehhhh... Not really gonna rate it, cuz I dislike it's vibe but I'll leave a review nonetheless.

NOTE: If you're into religion, you'll probably not like this LN. This thing loves to bash on god's and religion while advocating science and human advancement. It's not simply about being unable to separate your beliefs from what you read. The author is just very obviously bashing on religion with the meme "religion hinders science and human advancement".

Now that I've put that out of the way...

The story itself isn't anything stellar and it's... more>> pretty fast pace.

I mean, the first girl BARELY gets introduced before we suddenly meet the next girl already! Heck, for that matter we just met the MC's parents before he leaves their village and we'll likely never see them again in the story. I mean, the Author didn't even bother giving them a name other than "mom and dad".

The fast pace, and very simple, typical, and unoriginal setting causes the world building to suffer as well.

I'm actually surprised RAWS are supposed to be 300+ since by chapter 20, the MC is fighting the fire god already.

Since MC is also a god, you can pretty much expect him to be a Gary Stue, even with human relationships apparently.

All in all, it's a very LIGHT novel. Like a Light, Light Novel! Recommend it for casual reading and if you're into religion bashing. <<less

I got to read this novel thanks to Reigokai, who is translating "Tsuki ga Michibiku" and as he was picking it up to translate while waiting for new TsukiMichi chapters. He even recommended it. I trusted him.

It was a mediocre work that got slightly but (painfully) slowly better along the way. The MC was starting to get pretty decent considering his former dense and cuckish state but then the Author started to warp the whole story when there was a pretty defined goal of the... more>> MCs adventure, just to cram in more and more chapters. Some Deus-Ex-Machina (no pun intended) moments later and I felt pretty much cheated and my intelligence made fun of.

So read this only if you don't have ANYTHING else to read, as it only, really only works as a filler. Just your typical bland harem story... <<less

Typical Japanese novel they find the title first then think completely different story. Nothing dark about this MC or light about other gods. If you are going to change the roles between you could just call it story of dumb and one dumber mischievous gods dear author. Nothing separates this novel from others exact same story oever and over again "OP from start" or "cheat" MC fights against corruption of a church or a kingdom or both. And since you cant write it better than others at least let this... more>> one fight against something else. Create evil trees and fight them it would make much better story. <<less

Seems like the perfect novel for the developmentally disabled reader. Read the first few chapters to find out why. The typist apparently spent no effort whatsoever to fit the world, the plot, the characters and their motivations together into a cohesive whole. The characters do things that make very little sense in the context, and the plot moves forward in spite of the characters, dragging them behind, like a dead cat on a leash.

It's too early to rate it as a 5. Maybe later?

It's not the most interesting thing. The premise really interested me, but I became slightly disappointed when reading. It's a decent novel, but not full of hype.

Lots of religion bashing. The gods (except for the MC) are the baddies. The Light Church has a lot of idiots.

The MC is OP, but he's being hindered by his love for humans. His character isn't very detailed. It's literally: fillial, human-loving, not too pe*verted, OP, a god, and normal. He's nothing really interesting... more>> in the story. He's okay. The characterization in the story isn't the best. World building is kinda interesting.

I have no idea where this novel is going to go. To me, it's just a light comedy/almost slice of life. <<less

This novel has me a bit torn because the story is overall okey but there are some major flaws that drags it down. For instance there are a lot of flawed logic and controveristy in the stort that becomes either bigger or smaller as the story goes on. To start of the MC is madly in love with humans and anything that has anything to do with them. The MC keeps proclaiming how great they are, how they can evolve do great things etc etc. However the setting of the story is that the gods jointly created the world and made the humans by combining the 6 elements. Right after this the other 5 gods decide that the humans should be their s*aves/worship them forever which angers the MC into fighting against them and eventually losing and being sealed for 1600 years because of it. This basically means that the MC knows nothing about humans at all from the background given but he is still extremly pro human. A bit of spoiler on this part.
Spoiler

The other gods create new life forms "monsters" whos main puprose is to kill or drive fear into humanity into worshipping the gods again. These are directly seen as evil which I would agree that they are but at the same time they are still living beings. But to the MC they should all be erased since they threaten humans, he even goes as far as instantly killing the godess of earth because she enacts a plan that threatens to turn thousands of humans into mindless drones to stop the fighting and give energy to the earth godess.

Now this might sound like a good act, but is it? When it happens the earth godess is slowly dying because of the fact that she has been sealing something that threatens to destroy the world. The MC had already dealt with it but no one told the godess to stop sealing the area. Some might argue that he told her to move, but he never warns her only telling her to move after shooting and then "killing" her.
We later also learn that all the other gods were created from the MC, and that basically they were all created simply as tools to create the perfect world for the MC after which they would cease to be useful and he could erase them if he so desired because they had lost their use, the MC could also destroy the whole world if he deemed it a failure. So the MC is something akin to a crazy scientist that holds only fanatacism towards his creations
[collapse]

The author seems to love to create facts and rules only to debunk them within a few chapters or more. For instance for a human to live there must be balance between the 6 elements, if not they will become super weak or die, said by the god who made humans. 2 chapters later it is explained that the light hero had this problem while being young, solution? Simply train to control said element, and you'll be fine don't worry about the fact that training in said element will make the body even more imbalanced since training with an element will make you get more of that element. This part might be silly of me but another thing is that it is proclaimed that gods can't use other powers then their own element, even so the godess of light manages to create a new element called shadow. Which is basically a weak imitation of darkness but created from the light element. So what is it? Basically the most op sh*t ever since darkness only real weakness is light, because shadow was made from light it absorbs light and is somehow immune to the other 4 elements and only darkness element can stop it while it's still weak. The reincarnation of the MC is weird to say the least. The MC can basically choose to reincarnate into any body that is dead or simply create a body for himself to inhabit. But chooses to reincarnate into the stillborn child of an old couple living in a small village of 50 people. Even though he keeps proclaiming he wants to explore the world. This starting part together with a lot of other occasions serves to show what a pushover the MC is even though he is a god unless when it is on a point that is disadvantageous to humans. I could go on and on but overall what annoys me most is how fickle the author is with the story proclaiming something one chapter taliking about it at lenght at times only to make it invalid in the next moment. What does make the story a bit interessting to me is the simple fact that if you look at all the pieces you will find that the MC is in short terms a half-crazed tyrant. Overall though there are many many better read out there so I would not recommend this to anyone.

Edit*

Ethereal is mentioned as a fuel/energy that enables humans to progress and is one of the main reasons for the plot even happening. It is weird how the gods who can directly reincarnate or interfere with the world couldn't just simply remove ethereal since it served no shown function in the world except working as a power source for machines and technology.

This novel is actually pretty decent, all things considered. It has a solid plot, doesn't overdo the "ore tueee" of the MC as it develops the growth of the side characters, and generally has a nice sense for romcom. Above all, the enemies after Chapter 200 are genuinely a joy to read about - they logically think through their plans, make backup plans (that actually work!) to counteract the MC, and even in practice often defeat the MC - a rare gem in this general scheme of "ore tueee" novels.

However,... more>> despite all this praise, the author is clearly not familiar with writing battle scenes, and it shows. 90% of a "battle" is dialogue and characters run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Ironically, the strong enemies I praised beforehand seemed to make the author panic, and the MC only manages to "win" because of a constant series of deux ex machina. Fights have zero deaths, even in cases when two armies clash with each other, and the author casually makes plot devices then throws them away just so the MC can scr*pe away a "win." Enemies who otherwise are carefully desired and continuously ruthless or cunning start chatting on the battlefield like its an afternoon picnic, ruining the immersion. Ultimately, that's why I can't give this novel super high praise, despite its otherwise pretty decent buildup.

Spoiler

Water is supposed to be absolute against fire, and is shown as such many times throughout the novel. However, ONLY when needed to a water enemy seems to have all their attacks negated by a water MC "trying her best."

So, this novel is not bad but it also isn't amazing. It is about a god who decided to become human to experience life and he meets different heroes (who are of course girls) and they go off and fight monsters. Simple with a little bit of politics and intrigue thrown in.

My issue with this is that Entropy (name of the god/mc) feels too much like a side observer. In the early chapters he states that he wants to live like a human to experience what they experience and that's... more>> fine and all if he wasn't supposed to be the MC and if he hadn't met the heroes. At this point, if you would have told me this book was about the growth of the girls as heroes and that they were assisted by a god, I would believe it. Because that's what is has felt like. The heroes have felt like the main characters and Entropy/Haine (human name) is the emergency enemy remover or comedy relief. Yes, Haine has major parts in the story but ultimately he tends to be used as a deus ex machina ploy device for the girls whenever an extremely powerful enemy appears.

I will still continue reading this because I like it and have invested time into it but I really hope Haine can stop being used a side character instead of a main protagonist. <<less
