It started so well, I loved the concept with diablo and his journey meeting interesting people and the world-building but after chapter 150. It all just goes down words the side characters disappear and becomes yes men and just says "Hail the King" all the time and the romance is gone they don't really have a personality anymore. They are just there and now in chapter 1031 it just becomes shitter. The MC just doesn't feel like he fits the world just somebody that looking in from the outside and... more>> hasn't experienced anything I am dropping it for good now. <<less

Started off with some hope, the diablo world setting was different at least and the way he gets his abilities/magic via that was more original than most, however as usual it does not take long at all for the expected info/filler dumps to ruin the whole thing.

Then there are the enemies he faces who ALL are nothing more than brain dead idiots, the kind you can picture as rolling up to the MC with swagger only to instantly scream "MWUHAHAHAH BOW DOWN" while swirling their bad-guy mustaches, they are utterly... more>> 1 dimensional cannon fodder, later on fights are utterly described as utterly moronic and unbelievably convoluted and dull and worst of all drawn out, oh my god sooooooo drawn out.

A good effort at the start that quickly went downhill, pity. <<less

Let me give you a small rundown on what happens throughout thr whole story. So a bit of Spoilers.

MC is born as a king in a small kingdom which is currently in attack, and he with his Golden fingers grows stronger and kill his enemy.

At this time a Single 3 Star Warrior is treated with respect but in the next few chapters after MC grows strong they will not me mentioned again.

... more>> His subject/people are also genius who can grow strong as fast as him.

His wife is one of the most beautiful women with a pure soul.

And other bullshit, the whole story is about MC who is said to be reasonable but is in truth a Ba####d and a unrealistic guy. He could have solved many problem easily but NO he has to be a person who can bend, He fight everyone and kill most of other people who look or try to get what he has.

The whole world is s*upid, with most are ignorant of their surroundings.
The story is super slow and it takes 50 chapter in the first chapter fighting a villain that will be killed in 1 chapter in the end.

Only reason this story isn't on 0 Star ranking is due to the Translations, as people reading this story will fall in the imagination.

........

What irritating is MC can grow strong many time easily but don't care and is almost killed many times, the enemy who tried to kill him the the past will be super weak in few dozen chapters after he trains for other strong opponent.

He can easily battle other opponent but he makes repetitive mistake and angers other opponent which will make him in risk of dying and in the end barely survives. And in a few chapter after training the opponent is super weak, and then he with his Face angers another strong opponent.

Yes whole story is similar and is ok for few chapter but will get boring after few chapters.
My conclusion-

0 Star for creativity.

0 Star for MC intelligence.

3 Star for World development.

2 Star for everyone else <<less

Damn my tendency to finish novels that i've started

1 star... That's my first 1 star after tens of novels and I'm pretty lenient with the scoring. Skip it, not worth your time.

It started good, yes it's weird with all the reference to modern day naming, but it's okay. The story is your usual world transmigration and a cheat ability that let the MC "play" diablo to get stronger.

As the story goes on I can see how lazy the author is. The power-up goes fast sometimes and slow at other times... more>> depending on whether author needs it or not, villains are bland and only popped out when it's convenient to provide challenge to the MC, the naming... As you read it just felt like the author is too lazy to think up name..., near the end you just see hundreds of xx level enemies and sudden surge of xx level in allied armies that it feels like that cultivation is actually easy for everyone.

The ending was rushed and not that epic or mind blowing. At one point the MC can actually get a "mystery reveal" chance from this "voice" only to be blocked by your usual trying-to-be-mysterious plot, it still made me wonder on the necessity to conceal the ending plot

It's bad, the whole world building is a jumbled mess, the cheat was abused, and a lot of pirated "concept" (kinda showcase how lazy the author is)

Just skip this <<less

Not exactly a good read

Pros :

  • An Op MC, im a sucker for these types of MCs (the reason why I added a star from the initial 2 stars)
  • It's satisfiying when one of these arrogant villans dies, they act so f*cking highly and it annoys me so much. But when they die, god damn does it make you feel good
  • A Great start, for about 100 chapters or so.
Cons :

  • The annoying villans, I mean it's super satisfiying when they get killed, but holy sh*t do you need patience to wait that long
  • Brainless Villans
  • Brainless Protagonist, coud've just resolved a couple of situations from just doing things right
  • The side characters aren't really memorable, cause they just follow the orders of Alexander half of the time.
  • The Long Live, Love live phrase just gets too repetetive
  • The story gets too repetetive, as said by the other commentators.
  • The harem, not exactly my type
  • Slow progression

Let me just say that this story was a fun and interesting read for me. I never really got bored.

My biggest problem was the author's choice of names for some of the characters in this story.

For some important characters he named them things like Paris hilton, Beyonce, Shaquille O'Neal, and other real life names. This was clearly the Author just trying to be funny, but it ruined the story for me a bit. These characters we were supposed to take seriously, but the naming of characters as if the Author... more>> was just goofing off kind of made it hard to do that. Maybe this doesn't matter to most readers, but it mattered to me.

What would have been a 5 star review turned into a 4 star review due to only this.

That being said, I've only ever liked one other story on here as much as I did this one. Re:Monster and Hail the king are now my two most favorite stories that you can access through NovelUpdates. I have read Hail the king to it's end and I do recommend it. I have read most of the stories on this site believe it or not and most of them I have given bad reviews. I think that shows just how good this story was. Also a big thanks to the noodle translators! Very easy to read from start to finish and I really appreciate you guys finishing this story and never abandoning it. <<less

Edit: Finished at long last. I'm not going to change my rating; this novel is pretty average in terms of writing. However, I did have a lot of fun reading it and I do think it's worth the time if you're bored. While it is essentially elevated fan fiction, at least the author goes to the trouble of explaining why the fanfiction elements exist.... other than half the characters being named after soccer players. That part is still a mystery.

Recommended: Eh, no. It's okay if you're just killing time and... more>> it's a pretty easy read, but I wouldn't go putting it at the top of your list of must-read novels.

This novel is a huge bundle of cliches and pop culture references (notably Diablo). Honestly, it's pretty sh*tty, but at least I'm having fun reading it so I won't rate it too low.

The MC is transported to another world with cultivation, only to find out that he can then transport to another world from that world, namely, he can go level up in the Diablo world before returning to the cultivation world. He's pretty much your average hot-blooded Chinese protagonist otherwise; he goes off face-slapping a bunch of idiotic enemies while achieving no small amount of arrogance.

At least, in comparison to other novels I've read here, the side characters/romantic interests he's picked up have so far managed to stay in focus and not disappear as they tend to in, say, an IET novel. The romance isn't much, but it has at least a passable presence.

To be honest, it kinda gives me the impression of someone writing fanfiction in their spare time. <<less

World building is a joke the author clearly has no regards to the medium he himself takes inspiration from. It is straight up copy and paste and even then he makes elementary mistakes. Diablo 2 Mercenaries can't use boots and the Rogue archers certainly have no poison and lightning arrows, I digress.

The characters are all the same, they all talk the same. "Hehehe smart political monologue or insult hehe" seriously a princess and a king is no different from a brigand from the way they talk, heck even villains and... more>> non-villains speak the same way. Just slap some label and its good to go.

Action is even repetitive, one thing the author did right from copying Diablo 2, "I have Bul Kathos Children set" is what you will read first and foremost the minute he acquires them in every single fight he goes. Like similar xianxia of its kind its a one sided massacre, I don't even know why they bother. You would be reading a few chapters just to finish off a single enemy at times. Which slows what little pacing the story has got.

There are also some segments in which the author just cuts important info to make the story "mysterious" but fails and just confuses the reader. Clearly an amateur mistake.

Overall its a bad read. Translation is also a hit and miss with names misspelled, which makes the already bad prose even worse. <<less

(c235) The first 100 chapters are amazing! One of the best novels ever- 5/5. The next 50 chapters are still pretty nice, but sth. Starts to be wrong I would say its a 4/5. The next 50 chapters are worst, it gets repetetive and is all aboud fightining (3/5). The current chapters are GARBAGE/tr*sh its just s*upid! Its only about meting arogant vilians and fightining! What about the Diablo elements? Now there are none, what about Romance? The author rarely mentions it. Its VERY sad how such a great... more>> novel with interesting Diablo elements, kingdom bullding and romance started to be such a garbage. I still give it a 4/5 mostly because the first 150 chapters are really good and I still HOPE it gets great again, I refuse to drop it but im really disappointed : (: (: (

(c302) Its pretty much a typical CH Novel now. A MC who need to always be right and only he matters e.t.c and everything can be solfed using fists. Its only a Xuanhuan Novel now, there is no kingdom building and no romance and no diablo elements. He just fights a new enemy all the time he cant even go sh*t in peace, because new arrogant people will show up just to be beaten. Anyway somehow its still a good Xuanhuan novel, really good actualy if you are searching ONLY for this then this is amazing but dont let it fool you by the first 150ch there is no diablo elements/romance/kingdom biulding after (around) ch150 its just fightining - nothing more. Im still reading it, mostly once a month I read all the chapters released during this time and I still enjoy it, but comparad to the first 150ch now its like heaven and earth. I read the other two novels from this author and they where the same - typical CN only focusing about brainless fighting with arrogant people. I was suprised after reading the first 100ch of Hail the king that this author could write something good, but now I know better: it was just a shell. Hail the king is just like the other novels. Its suprising the author had a "stroke of genius" having such a interesting idea with the diablo world and promising romance, world biulding but NOPE he suddenly remembered that he needs to write a typical, no-inspired, clichéd CH Novel and forgot the best part about it. A Shame, really a shame. <<less

This is really quite an awesome novel. The kind of novel you want to read with action packed music in the background lol. Full of thrills and well written action scenes, it makes your blood boil by just reading through it.

The only thing that I dislike is

Spoiler

the king having s*x with Elena when he already has a fiancée (and the author 'justified' this act through it being a necessity

[collapse]

for the sole reason that there was no harem tag when I first started reading. So it was quite unexpected, and got me even a bit incensed.

But despite it, I still continued to read on because it's really good.

Cant wait for more chapters! <<less

Nice kingdom building story, I can't say anything bad about it besides the naming sense, sigh that's usually how it is when Chinese authors pull out foreign names, and this one is obviously a football fan.

Edit: This novel went bad real fast, from the mentioned football names which can be tolerated but then if you think about it, why Diablo pseudo VR? It's because the author can't think of his own shit, ok tolerate that too. Saint Seiya? Oh cmon now... I didn't even like that anime or watched it,... more>> so the author is a plagiator and once you pass the cool kingdom building phase, it's just a fantasy setting xianxia with even more ret*rded conversations and insults... In the latest chapters the MC gets some epic duo swords and the author felt the need to mention them every 5 sentences from then on. Adding the lack of editing in at least the last 2 chapters it is plenty of reasons to reduce the rating to 2 stars and drop it. <<less

Very interesting, reading this novel is kinda refreshing after all those xanxia.

After the cheat activated it got even more interesting, the progress that the MC can make it self is worth it for reading this series

Very enjoyable on the whole, but with a few weaknesses. The Earth link was a weakness for me -- really diluted the fantasy feel. The Diablo aspect was okay -- it was one way for the main character to "cheat", but it really didn't add much -- and in his credit, the author didn't try to make much of it, so it could be skimmed easily.

The ending was rushed, with too many poorly foreshadowed revelations.

On the other hand, a lot of supporting characters were well described; and the political aspects... more>> were solid without being overly heavy. It had a good balance between cultivation of personal strength and country/sect-building. The romance (it's a small harem) was decent -- the women were not the best portrayed characters, but they did have some roles in addition to being love interests.

One trope which is common in cultivation novels was very obvious with power inflation: for a long time, it was "tier X is the strongest, one of them can overwhelm an empire". Then X's are everywhere, and X+1 are the strong ones. Then everybody is X+1, with just a few years of cultivation, but X+2 are the real movers and shakers! And so on. <<less

So, I have completed this series for the second time. I've got to say, this is a great novel. Sure, it may have quite a few critics, but you should at least give it a chance! The harem is done nicely (except one member) and has only a few loose ends.... it is a good weak-to-strong novel and there aren't many like it. Just read it... :)

Only reason it has 2 stars is due to the fact that the first couple hundred chapters were actually decent. Unfortunately, it fell into a cycle of MC getting super OP and tons of plot holes along with plans that were thought up by the MC to recover from a situation. It felt like a lot of ideas were in place but were rushed and not well planned out. It just turned into an endless loop and I'm glad that it has finally ended, was a bit of a lackluster... more>> ending too.

I don't have much to write on this review, the translation is good with minor mistakes here and there. If you want something to pass the time, you can go ahead and read this while skimming through the chapters as while it is a bit fast paced especially near the ending, it is still easy to understand. <<less

A novel without meaning or plot, tries to be of strategy but fails flatly after reading Mediterranean Hegemon of Ancient Greece that there is if there is strategy, formation of kingdoms and a true Emperor.
What else fails in the conflicts at any time you feel that the MC is in danger and the final enemy goes shit: /

I really liked how the author incorporated his own ideas into making this story. The first few arcs were really interesting as the main character continues to stand out. You start to wonder what he will do next on every chapter after a cliffhanger from the author. The character's backstories added onto character building, but after those few arcs, it has gone downhill. Almost all chapters are filled with compliments on how great the Main Character is after the first few arcs and it has become quite a chore rereading... more>> through all the repetitive reused paragraphs. The progression of the story after the first few arcs seemed rushed as the author has been making more shorter chapters. Each page did not contain that satisfying feel from the first chapters you have read from the beginning. It just doesn't have the same amount of words as the author purposely makes cliff hangers at the most convenient time. A good read for the first few arcs. Turn your brain off afterwords and keep going with what the story has created the picture for you to continue off of.

Want to give a thanks to NoodleTown Translated for the 4 -5 years I was reading this. The story always kept me wanting more and getting updates that a new chapter came out was exciting.

The ending though, I didnt like too much as the author imo seemed to have rushed it. Many plot holes were covered half assed and not that much explanation to explain it. But this was still a good read. <<less

This entire novel feels like a mockery of/ parody on the so called luck of MCs and football.

If the usual MCs of fantasy novels are lucky then this novel's MC is the God of luck. Everything that occurs in this world is a convenience for the MC. He is the Chosen One.

Be it his cheat powers or how opportunities open up after he hit a wall with his cheat, the world wants him to succeed. The world wants him to be a god.

Only complaint I have against this novel is... more>> that, the first half of the story was really interesting and the pace was good however after the marriage arc, the author started rushing like crazy. Slow and steady plot development flew out of the window. Felt like the author was trying to cram everything that came to his mind into a few chapters. However the recent chapters have slowed down a bit and it doesn't seem hectic anymore, which I appreciate very much.

Overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable read. It was enjoyable enough to the point of me burning through 1000+ chapters in half a month. There wasn't a moment that I got bored/tired of reading, which happens quite often to me while reading lengthy novels (happened to me even while reading amazing novels like King of Gods and Martial World). <<less

I ve read novels for about 10 years and this one, is one of the finest ongoing.

While it has its flaws, some common in all the chinese novels, I mean its not a game of thrones or anything. At least it is straight to the point, easy to read and enjoyable since chapter 1.

Overall its a genius novel.

You have surprising and interesting plot, cool characters and contrary to lot of novels the MC kind of lift all his peers wich make the story more enjoyable in my opinion. Its quite... more>> fun to have him get stronger and more badass but even more enjoyable to see how and how much his peers / friends and kingdom gets to be better all the time :)

ofcourse its a must read if you like diablo, or soccer... ok the names are weird but who cares really - they are just names.. and you ll have to meet all kind of fun stuff like saint seiya, one piece and all kind of other references.. anyway I find it quite clever and quite fun to have in this novel !

So yea, big up to noodletown waiting for more chapters ! Lets go chambord ! :) must read to all readers <<less
