Above average story. About a cultivator who transmigrated into the body of a guy with poor reputation. Although the story started out with some humour (see the 'summary' above), it soon dissipated down and we basically have a calm and reticent MC. Because of his personality, he prefers for interactions to get to the point quickly, which is a refreshing change from the oft-used "I your father / No I'm your grandfather" type dialogues. The MC takes one look, immediately deduces the situation and would either move away to distance... more>> himself or quietly take the insult and pay it back in a subtle manner.

The MC quickly found himself surrounded by a cast of beautiful women, each with her own set of circumstances; though they are left in the dark as to his motives and identity. The women who are used to unwanted attention are of course intrigued by this MC who is seemingly immune to their charms. Though they react in a predictable manner, the writing is good enough to make them stand out. One particular scene was quite poignant, like from a drama. But I wonder at the number of women introduced early on which may or may not have any future interactions later on in the story. It's like the author wanted these beauties to be quickly enamored with the MC, but later changed his mind and only make them plot-centric (thus far). So we have the usual suspects of jealous rivals, rich heirs and haughty people trying to get in his way.

In any event, the story is about the MC trying to cultivate and regain his strength in this ordinary world. Unlike other novels, he does have a hard time getting money and was scrapping by living day to day; though the various sub-plots meant he would make rich and influential people become indebted to him.

Interesting, would read more. <<less

Ok, so I got as far as chapter 348, mainly due to a habit of wanting to finish reading a novel I picked up, but I couldn't bear the amateurish and cringey writing anymore. Reasons are:

1. The MC is overpowered, sometimes by unfair skill arsenal and knowledge that only he has access to, sometimes by "he knew he was no match for the enemy, but with the element of surprise, he managed to win yet again" a tool that was used at least in 50% of the MC's fights. Literally,... more>> tens of chapters were ecpended saying that the MC was no match for a certain character but out of no where the MC got angry and one punch manned that character to death! The MC doesn't make meticulous plans, doesn't think, doesn't make sense... he just kills people publicly and annihilates families and organisations in a modern society, and it works out. No one actually does anything about it. Actually, when a police officer, righteous person... etc. crosses our MC's way, they always turn out to be bribed evil closet criminals.

2. The MC is arrogant, inhumane, just drunk on power, and actually takes great pleasure in attacking and killing people after provoking them and saying "I, Ye Mo, shall not let you live. Otherwise, I won't be Ye Mo". Throughout the story, the MC keeps provoking people and acting very haughty but when someone gets provoked and throws a deserved punch, the MC swipes with his hand cutting their hands off. He keeps stomping every man he comes across. Only those that kiss his feet apparently don't die, but for some reason, he rarely killed women, all of which were introduced as bad people with sexy bodies and later turn out good people and fall in love with him. Even his sister wishes she wasn't his sister so that she could marry him XD.

3. Most of the characters in the series are very irrational and their character development usually starts with "who is this arrogant hoodlum/cheapskate?" and ends with "I love the MC".

4. Too many coincidences for a story written by someone older than 10.

5. Too much forth and back... just to turn in circles.

6. Dude catches bullets and flies, but no one else can. They only watch the immortal MC show them his godly martial arts.

Lol, f*** this ??I just read a review by athlonkmf and am very glad I didn't read to the end ? <<less

MC is idiot, racism, can only speak chinese (he raid the enemy base only want to find "Do you know chinese ?", and it always happen), arrogant and c*cky bastard, always make trouble everywhere but doesn't want people to mess with him, always steal something from people just because he need it, and MC like killing non chinese people. Summary, this novel is not worth reading....

Seriously this is the first time i've experienced this to this extent. The author is a f*cking idiot, the main character for no apparent reason explains nothing, excluding crucial information to others people leading to misunderstandings and problems, casing many people to dislike him, sometimes he just doesn't say anything as if he has a social disability. It is honestly baffling that the author uses this method to progress parts of the plot, like he's some teenage japanese mangaka without imagination. The characters are seemingly bereft of any personality for... more>> the most part, and Ye Mo, the main character is so indifferent to certain things it makes me wonder if he's supposed to be mentally deficient. I'm not sure if the author is trying to pass this off as a "wordly" indifference having reincarnated from being a proficient cultivator in his 'previous life' (although not sure if it's transmigration, it hasn't specified what happened yet) but it absolutely comes off as the opposite. It's oddly frustrating, but I'm still reading it so take what I say with a grain of salt. 3 stars because it's not the worst but doesn't have a number of compelling features. The romantic progression is appalling, as I previously mentioned it hinges on these misunderstandings which appear because of Ye Mo's inability to speak, in which interests these female characters whether they become angry, annoyed, curious or otherwise. No idea why I kept reading, perhaps i'll stop in a short amount of chapters. <<less

Looking forward for more. The protagonist is wise and I like the plot of godly medical doctor. Anyway, the MC used by girls because he needs money and remind him of his past. And its ok, since those girls at least not evil, unlike all other boys there.

Great modern series. A few reviews complain about a certain part of the plot where the MC has to deal with an annoying girl, but these reviewers stopped before that part of the story is resolved. DON'T! The MC is vindicated so much and it is awesome!

This series is labelled harem and while I would argue that it's not harem yet, the setup and intent is obvious. With that said, this series is easily one of the best (at least so far, things can still degrade in the future). The... more>> story never really lingers on a certain arc/point, and the MC meets a variety of people (girls), but it isn't bad. There aren't any major arcs that I see so far, nor are there any particularly epic (or even exciting) battles, so don't expect anything heaven-shattering. With that said, what this series does do well is a sort of casual slice-of-life story about a cultivator reincarnated into the modern world. <<less

Dropped.

Truly tried to give this one a fair spin but it starts bad and only gets worse.

Character hits a roadblock every few chapters only for a solution to miraculously drop in his lap the very next moment.

No real character development.

Typical brilliant, flawless protagonist despite the fact that everything he says and does is utterly moronic.

The all too common and misplaced Chinese supremacy and racism. Particuarly towards westerners. This author is a prime example of the brainwashed communist.

Side characters are mere decoration. Nothing is flushed out.

Legitimately nothing positive comes to mind.

The ending was unsatisfying and rushed.

Pros: Fast paced, OP MC, harem, fast cultivation, and cultivation in modern world.

Cons: Honestly too many to list. I'll go through the standouts.

Racism, sexism, MC contradicts himself often, bad writing, bad translation quality, and worst of all, a really unsatisfying and rushed ending that leaves many loose plot threads.

I can only recommend this series if you're looking for a tr*shy read with cultivation set in a modern world.

The MC reads like a creepy pe*vert’s POV except this one is self-righteous and a cultivator.

Every women he meets seems to be more beautiful than the other, he even notes how they smell... which is really off-putting... I quote “pure scent that tells him that she doesn’t invite strangers into her car.”....

He is so obnoxiously righteous about how other people are inconsiderate ‘ having a Low EQ’ when honestly he is the socially inept one...

Meet Ye Mo, a cultivator reincarnated to earth. He goes to the hardware store, buys a box of nails, and proceeds to kill 1 million people by throwing a nail. He does not ever re-use nails nor does he ever buy new nails. How he found a box that has 1 million nails in it, shall remain his secret. Of course killing so many people, trouble follows him everywhere. So he needs a disguise. So Ye Mo, disguises as Ye Mo. When the very smart villains figure out that he... more>> is Ye Mo, he disguises as Mo Ye. And now we follow Mo Ye's miraculous adventures...

I think the cultivator on modern day earth theme is interesting. But even though scarcity of Qi and what not keeps being mentioned, he's just way too strong from the get go. And the story has nothing else to make it interesting in any way. <<less

The first thing a person should learn when reading this review is that almost 700 chapters are devoted to the adventures of MC in the mortal world. To whom as, but it f*cked me up already on chapter 200. It's unbearable to read. But let's not be prejudiced and try to read on. Unfortunately, the disadvantages outweigh the pros. But let's be consistent.

The mortal world. The world exists in isolation from martial arts. Many (not all) pretend to be surprised that there are people who stop bullets with their bare... more>> hands. MS kills right and left, but no one gives a f*ck: power, people around. MC in the mortal world-OP, everything is incredibly easy for him, except for a couple of moments. Needless to say, women flock to such an MC like flies to shit? By the way, we will talk about women separately.

Cultivation in the mortal world. Nothing remarkable, it is described quite standardly, except for flying magic swords, everything looks relatively realistic, given the wuxia genre.

Battles. Clearly, they do not reach the entertainment level of the works of Er Gen or I Eat Tomatoes. Frankly speaking, they disappoint.

The cultivation world. Hackneyed and banal, you will not see anything new here. If you have read one such work, you have read everything.

Cultivation of the immortal. The author screwed up and wrote a bunch of extra stages. Some could be safely reduced in favor of a better disclosure of the rest. If the same Er Gen Wan Lin consistently went from one stage to another, from one stage to another (of course, there were exceptions there), then here the MC jumps at such a speed from stage to stage and so inconsistently that sometimes you are surprised.

Wives and women in general. I think you yourself understand what's what on this point. Here, women play either a supporting role, or they are abused. Again, I can understand this moment, the society of cultivators is quite hierarchical and patriarchal, so this is at least logical. But the MC's wives are just plywood on the background, they play almost no role and exist in the work to be an armor plot or to be a driving factor for the MC. They do not differ from each other in almost any way. Only a couple of wives have at least some rudiments of character, all the others are empty, like my refrigerator.

Adventures. They are boring, monotonous, not memorable. Another disappointment.

The character of MC. Smooth, without any features. All that can be said about him is that he is quite vindictive and honest with those who consider him a friend. There is nothing more to say about him.

All of the above are disadvantages. But what about the pros, you ask? They are not.

Read at your own risk. <<less

Fast review 3 Starts out of 5 = Long novel with s*upid plot, filler text and rushed ending. Manga 4/5 (very well edited with best part of the novel)

The Good:

Spoiler
    • Slow start which means a well explained development, very interesting to see a cultivator in the modern world.
    • A OP MC which is why I read Xianxia.
    • MC gets many girls which depict the real nature of a Man from a World of cultivation.
    • MC values relation, so you can be sure he will help friends.
[collapse]

The Bad:

Spoiler
    • The Earth Arc last TOO MUCH.
    • MC gets the girls (80%) of the Harem too early, author notices this and make the future women less interesting.
    • The Plot Revolves around MC Saving some one, or going somewhere searching someone (98% of these Women)
    • Harem girls are forgotten, since Author created them for Plot purposes, they turned doormat by the half of the Novel.
    • As usual, novels with 1.5K+ Chapters should expect repetitive plot. Tropes repeats a lot here.
    • No real villains, last enemy was someone from earth who magically turned Strong, Author wanted to finish novel
    • Some translation mistakes
    • Rushed Ending (Biggest Offense) Ended many Unsolved things.
[collapse]

My Advice is the same as always, if you need something to read, go ahead. But I do not recommend binge reading since its gets boring, and you will end skimming.

If have more on the list to read try these first, this rushed ending mess things up.

PS: This Novel has a manga which skips useless plot ans unnecessary filler characters. Which makes it better. Go read it!

The story set up is refreshingly unique, at least up to three hundred or so chapters, and doesn't follow the traditional continual loop of: crippled MC must get stronger, fight in tournament after tournament throughout the story line, face off time and again against overpowering elders up to no good.

On the other hand, the author is clueless or lazy on some things he writes. For example, the news is announced that the U.S. Marines lost one of their nuclear submarines in a battle with MC? First off, why is the... more>> MC enraged and painted as the victim when he's fired upon? He's invading the coastal waters of a foreign nation, duh. Next, the White House announces to the world they have located a UFO? Such news would never be announced by any nation on Earth, duh. Finally, the U.S. Marines is a land based fighting branch of the military. They don't have any nuclear subs - that's the navy. If only the author's MC could slap some sense into him when he writes.

P.S. After reading another 100+ chapters it seems the author's true colors are coming out quite a bit and not in a good way. Aside from the ever increasing racism the author directs at "whites", he can't help but keep taking shots at entire countries, namely the U.S. And Japan. It's not hard to see that this author for all his promising ability simply can't help but be another propaganda tool. As an author, you want the most readers you can get wherever you can get them. It's pretty s*upid to alienate entire countries of readers by doing this. Perhaps the author is simply content in being a fish in a pond and doesn't want to jump to a lake. Still, this website doesn't seem to feedback or screen for such things from these authors, so how do they expect to bring in non-Chinese readers? <<less

Overall, it started as a modern day novel, however after the first few arc, it turned into a cultivation one with a lot of plot hole. Coupled with "hero save the day " and others cliché that make it unbearable.

Every arc follow the same pattern, MC is weak, get tr*shed, power up, save the day, revenge. Rinse and repeat.

A women has been a beauty all her life, as soon as she get in contact with the MC, a lot of "young master" will start picking on her. (If... more>> you know what I mean.) <<less

i comes for the novel and attractive title, but after reading a bit I got that wtf face ?! It is good that the prota is "friendly" but it is too "nice" if the woman has a good ass and tits, I sincerely hate the harems, and this novel has one, apart there is no "fixed" plot itself. I would continue reading even if there is a harem and there is no plot but the female characters (mostly) are obnoxious. The plot is nothing of what promises, what culture, what... more>> a modern world, what a reincarnated person, bah! There is a love-hate relationship with the women in this novel. While they serve to create problems for the MC, they also serve to give the MC information and thus, progress the story bit-by-bit. At this point there are at least 5 women in the story and most young men in the story, except the Mc's brother, are portrayed as violent and sexually driven machines fuelled by the money from their 'all-powerful' families.

This story has too much of the complicated fighting and scheming that comes with the modern world. In... more>> this novel, everything seems to link up together and affects each other like kicking this arrogant young master to save a young drugged lady about to get r*ped leads to fighting against that guy's family. However, the repetition in all these young masters trying to f*ck all those beautiful ladies and having the MC get another women indebted to him because he just had to stumble onto the scene and see it happening is straining what little enthusiasm I have for the future of the MC. Progress is pretty slow in his cultivation and trouble is always happening to the MC because of his own actions and the actions of the ladies trying to thank him back. Despite his abstinence from women and so far he has done anything with the women, his continued desire to involve himself with women gives me the speculation that his suppressing some serious hormones <<less

The story line is quite different with another xiaxia story I read. It happened in the modern time. In term of the harem, I don't like it because there are lots of woman around MC which try to flirt with him. I prefer a monogamy. But still the story still in progress, so I still try to read it and bear until I'm sure that this story is as it tagged as polygamy. And if it is, I'll drop.

I cannot review on the language because I'm not good on that.... more>> But the story is easy and fun to read. <<less

I can believe in magic, but not that these characters are human.

The overwhelming Chinese nationalism and racism combined with an approach to building romantic tension which relies entirely on characters refusing to communicate pertinent information for no particular reason, really pulled me out of the story.

The is the reverse of the usual "main character gets reincarnated in another world and is smarter than everyone else"

Our hero awakens in the body of a modern day person and uses his knowledge to save people and beat villains.

The translation is fairly easy to read for anyone that has trouble following most Chinese novels (like I do), as it lacks a lot of the "Xianxia" terminology.
