This series is quite lighthearted. The MC is pretty bland and basic, trying to be the good guy while considering all of the other gods to be tr*sh. Although the action and fight scenes of the series are nice, that's all they are--they aren't great or exciting. There also isn't much detail given to monsters or non-female characters, which is pretty disappointing. All of the fights thus far are straight-forward power battles, so there aren't any creative strategies or battles of wit. There isn't any suspense, which someone might like... more>> if they only want a light read they don't have to think much about. It's fairly mediocre.

The harem theme really annoys me, so I can't recommend avoiding this for anyone who even slightly dislikes harems. At least, half of the plot is focused on developing a harem. I had hope for the series when I saw started shipping a couple of the girls together, but then one of them suddenly decided she was going to be in love with the MC. What is the deal with all of the heroes being female? Of course, ALL of the girls are considered beautiful. Harems are considered okay in this setting, and no one involved seems to have any qualms with it. It comes across as awkward and unnatural. No one gradually develops feelings or progresses in their relationship or anything. It's just -BOOM- "I love you!" which feels like it's coming out of nowhere.

Only one harem member is the exception to this so far, and that is only because she has known him for eons. Even then, the MC's reaction toward her changes from "A person I absolutely cannot feel a lick of physical attraction to" to "A lovable member of my harem and possibly my future wife." It feels really abrupt. There isn't any smooth character development at all. <<less

Not bad. Reasonably enjoyable overall. Basically an adventure story in a fantasy world. Expecting politics an intrigue is unreasonable. The characters are engaging, and show some degree of growth.

It's not the type of story that I can binge-read. The translator released 3 chapters at a time, so reading those at a steady pace was just right for me.

An extremely simple yet unique fantasy story. Protagonist is a god from the very beginning and goes about learning about the world.

  • This fantasy world is very atypical compared to other stories
  • World building is extremely flat, simple and to the point
  • The overall story has a lot of heart and emotion, rather than logic and action
  • Characters are so 1 Dimensional that they become interesting and have a lot of depth
  • Very light-hearted, none of the conflicts have any sense of danger to them
  • Character development (ALOT OF IT)
  • There are lots of obvious moments where the author retcons previous events/settings cause he changes his mind. Basically the author barely planned out any of the story and it shows.
Overall a pretty enjoyable popcorn novel that you would enjoy as long as you dont take it... more>> srsly and just take everything at facevalue. <<less

I personally think the story is quite good if you dont set your expectation high. Yes the MC is OP, but he doesn't just go and kicks up bad guys asses. If you want to ask me what I dont like about this series is that the pace of romance is too slow for me, but in the other hands it's has a cute side too.

Not nice story with 'I love human' approach. Not much yandere if you are here for that like me, but over a good read with a nice story line and plot with a few twists here and there. Recommended for those who are looking for a good read!

MC is in a sense unique to most JP novel with almost similar feel.

WARNING: Cliché (most novels are cliché but this one does so more intensely, I like cliché lol.)

For those who are discouraged because the MC is not seeking for revenge, ... more>>
Spoiler

It is because Entropy has a distorted sense of time, even 100, 000 years is nothing but probably a minute or so (LOL thermodynamics, you stay true even in this novel), even Quasar aka Wind God is so shocked about this. And he is the 'creator' BTW.

One more thing, the Earth Goddess is just very, very securely sealed, not killed so releasing is possible.

[collapse]

Sure thing, he seemed to become cool to wimp, but you know, your morals and urges can slap you on the face to see which to choose.

One thing I don't like about him is his God Complex (one of the things that make him unique tho, EDIT: I mean a literal thinking as a God, not the idiom). Even as a human, he just watches on everyone, like really? And also
Spoiler

He completely relies on his elemental advantage like it's absolute (although it really is)

[collapse]

Needs a yandere tag...

Finally, the storyline is somehow a bit predictable so yeah, four stars as I somehow enjoy this novel. This novel will feel mediocre for readers that look for a decent story and environment so beware. <<less

Okay ish story. One of the type that is getting good in recent years. MC as the Dark God, and yet isnt evil. The way he lives his life as a human loving god with a human body. How he gets annoyed with gods and people who tries to mess up humans that he (they) created.

Not a bad read.

Sinopsys, sort of.

Spoiler

6 Gods created the world, and then created humans. 1 of them wanted to make humans submit for all eternity. 2 of them doesnt really care. 1 of them is ambiguous. 1 of them undecided. The last one, Entropy, wishes to let them grow. By some turn of events, he was turned on by the others, and ends up being sealed for a long time. The story starts at his awakening.

There is the normal cycle of elements, stuff like fire is weak to water and so on, for the 4 base elements. The 2 high gods, Entropy and Inflation, of the Dark and Light elements, are considered above the 4. The only weakness of light is the dark, and the same in reverse. Only reason Entropy lost is probably Inflation turning on him (et tu Infla).

After he was unsealed by Inflation, he decides to reincarnate as a human, to see the world for himself. Inflation, being the ambiguous one, also reincarnates to follow him, for reasons he cant understand. World is full of monsters, but only of the 4 elements, due to Infla not wanting to make any. There is also heroes, and churches that represents the 5 elements. All traces of the Dark God was wiped out of the world (not including his powers), so nobody knows who he is other than the 5 gods. Only he and those he gives blessing to can use his element, and dark element is part of the world creation, so they cant erase him or the world is a goner.

Honestly speaking, this is a good one.

First, I'll talk about the story. Summary, the dark god released from his 1600 years seal, reincarnated into a human boy from a remote region, met the light hero, and start liberating the world from the gods' grasp thereon. The MC didn't become an adventurer or anything, but that only means that this novel is off from the cliched and mainstream adventurer template.

Second, about the MC. He was a wimp when facing women, but that's more like he didn't know what to do with... more>> them. All in all, he's a good MC. He has his share of resentment, he also has his vengeance, but he wasn't driven mad by it. Rather, he acted out of rationality. What's the best course of actions? How should I resolve this situation so that everyone could be pleased by it? He acts according to those thoughts.

If there's any complaint, it must be the battle scene. The characters are basically explaining things while they are fighting. "My power of light or something is the strongest attribute there is. Even if it was your fire flame explosion or whatever my power is still better at attacking in a concentrated manner. Your power might effective against a vast amount of small fries, but I am no small fries." Or, something like that. Kinda different, but along those line. <<less

I guess this is what people normally expect from a "Light" novel huh, it is very light indeed, and rather shallow in every aspect

at first I want to explain in great detail about every single ridiculous and unrealistic aspect such as how God is portrayed in this novel, or how every single one of the church people act like idiot, how shallow the Heroine (or any character that appear so far really), the world building is subpar, and many other minor detail but meh, of course not everything is bad... more>> but nothing exceptional either

if you want some light mindless read then this is good enough to pass time, the shounen genre is strong so expect as such, if you don't dig such genre then chance are you won't even remotely like this Light novel, I would not recommend reading this for anyone that cannot ignore the issue stated above, I know for a lot of people such detail is not that important, but for the current me such problem is bothering me too much to actually enjoy the read

I'm not looking down on shounen, in fact, I really like them and used to love them but let's be real, certain book is better suited for certain people, and sadly this book is not for me, I could see the 15 years old me would like this very much, so yea <<less

I don't really get with this short-minded star ratings fellas. Well everyone has different interest, liking and opinion.

This novel doesn't fall behind and adjacent to its different and unique world setting venture. No adventurers means no adventurer cliche stuff, no known kingdoms by monarch, no nobles and no other race seen so far only Humans. There are only known Church-religious aspects, Heroes-All Heroines, Monsters, Idol and mecha-referring here to advancing civilization upon the discovery of a new energy known as Ethereal that made everyones live convenient to almost everything like... more>> vehicles, medicines, scientific studies and more.

Gods are primary lineup to this story as not entailing to a mysterious existence but part of events happening. Entropy the Dark God is the beginning and the end but with so much loved to the humans. The other 4 Base Elemental Gods - Fire, Water, Wind and Earth are s*upid upon seeing the humans as nothing but s*ave. This in turn into a battle which you already know what happened in the end in the summary says. Entropy doesn't hold grudge that much, only it resurfaced if the other gods in the current time do something s*upid as harming the humans he doted. The Light Goddess love him from the beginning and remained love him with a side of yandere but not too high just bare minimum. In all Entropy is the one strongest among all even though the Light Goddess has the most advantage against Entropy as he is darkness but he still formidable with power rivaling all as he is the beginning and the end. And also don't judge for his appearance for he has the way of his words that not even a smart-ass can retort back.

This is so far the best I read with an already protagonist that is a god. From that view have higher priorities of good and the best. Gladly read this as this story takes you to a whole new view away from stereotype adventurer crap.

Believe me even that cover looks Konosuba it ain't similar to each other! <<less

I don't know why people are saying it's just boring and fluff content; from the way the reviews are talking about it I would expect it to have no plot and just be him marvelling about different human things every chapter, but it's pretty good, in my opinion. There's an actual story and, if you read more than the first few chapters, each character has their own distinct personality and motivations to varying degrees. Although sometimes it seems like things wrap up too happily, with no downsides, I think it's... more>> done pretty well with that if you consider that the MC is a literal god.

Spoiler

He's the dark god Entropy, who it is later revealed is the first and strongest god. He was born naturally and, because he realized he was too strong, he created the light god to counter himself and keep the world balanced. After that, he created the four basic elemental gods: fire, water, wind and earth. So the fact that he's there makes it more than reasonable that the conclusion of conflicts ends up fine.

[collapse]

All in all it's not the perfect story or anything like that, but it's an enjoyable read with a satisfying ending. <<less

Boring. Really, really boring. No stakes, no intrigue, no world building, very weak character development. Seriously, it's like calling a pot of water with a piece of bread soup. Technically it could be called soup, but there is nothing more to it. Don't waste your time, I'll even sum it up for you: "Friendship wins".

Now for those who want a more elaborate overview:

If you like light-hearted stories about friendship and cooperation, then I guess this is for you. It's like a story written for children. This is not a bad... more>> thing, just very boring. However, as I said, you may end up liking it. So yeah, bare in mind that this is my opinion and I am a sucker for well-developed characters / worlds and strong emotional moments (all of which are absent from this novel).

My definition of character development is when a character goes through a series of experiences (or a single very meaningful experience) that teaches them something new about the world or themselves. This novel seems to take a more naive approach. The latter comprises of a character rejecting an idea for a scene or two and then suddenly realizing that they were wrong after some event occurs. This is not how humans work. If you ever had an argument with a person, you will know that they are stubborn creatures. Most people hate admitting that they are wrong, not only to the people that surround them, but also to themselves. It can take years for a person to change their stance on a matter, and if a person truly hates something or someone, they may never stop hating them. I hate when novels oversimplify human emotions, as it makes the world boring and shallow.

Another issues is the author overlooking very important points. For example, in the very beginning,
Spoiler

the MC beats a bunch of knights and a knight commander, unarmed, by himself. This happens in front of the whole village and no one reacts. Ever. You'd think that an f*ing knight commander would be considered a strong existence and beating him in front of his men and an entire village would not only be a feat but also outrageous. But no. Aside from two remarks that the characters make on this event later on, everyone reacts like the MC simply had a shouting match with him. Wtf?

[collapse]

Also, wtf is up with the pace?
Spoiler

In the first f-ing half of the first volume the MC defeats a god

. Are you sh*tting me? How am I supposed to stay interested in your novel after you have eliminated all stakes completely? It's not like this is a novel with amazing world-building, character and humor like one punch man and mob 100, this is a novel specifically about battles and sh*t. It's like if in shokugeki no souma, Souma became the top chef in the world in the first episode, and then all of the consequent episodes were of him teaching cooks in ordinary restaurants about friendship...

This is a very light-hearted story about an OP protagonist that fails at making you interested in him for being OP (or any other reason whatsoever). This is also a story about a bunch of side characters without personalities. And lastly, this is a story about gods (who created everything that exists), being nothing more than "that one character who abuses a girl in a back alley and gets beaten by the MC for a story purpose.". Oh and regarding the latter point, the punks that assault the MC in Re;Zero for the first time (in his first timeline), are 100x more interesting than any of the characters of this novel. <<less

it started its rise again. Especially the Ates arc was great. Author covered all details at the right times.

1/4 Author did a great job on making it look boring and then slapping you with revelations.

2/4 I liked the concept of inverted elements. I'd like to see if there are more.

3/4 Author thinks that we don't have climbing equipment. That's why there are some really well placed cliffhangers.

4/4 Plot twists here and there. Makes you anticipate something and then it turns around.

Bonus points:

- Author named the Demon Lords after Archangels.

- The characters seem bland but they shine at the times they should shine.

- Author made great Gods and Goddesses. Their personalities are distinct and they're just like their respective elements.

Note: As of Chapter 249, the Yandere tag should be there. <<less

MC is the god of darkness but was sealed by some other gods because of his fondness of the humans that he created and too much interference. The others looked down on humans but several centuries later... hypocrites

Spoiler

The humans praying to gods give birth to a sort of power that boosts the gods' powers but they've become so reliant on it that they cannot live without it. Just like drugs except they have certain death from withdrawal

Based on the title, the story is about a Dark God doing reform on the world after his absence. Rather than the fights, the story focus on how to make a world a better place if you have a disposition of a literal creation god. It also involves heroes, churches, and his fellow creation gods themselves.

It leans more on the light-hearted side but the narrative is enjoyable enough to read.

First of all: This novel is a comedy first and foremost. There are some "romance" but they are mostly played for laugh.

A funny and very light read. Best enjoyed when you're looking for light-hearted entertainment, no more or less.

Need Good Laugh? This is for you!

Let's get this clear, this is not a serious type of reading, at the beginning it is boring, but the story is enjoyable to read the the 20 chapters or more.

I have the intuition that this series won't have that much chapter at all since at chapter 164, basically he already completed 75% of the possible main story.

Plus, the translator is great, he (or she) is a dedicated person with regular release schedule, so you will have something to read regularly.
