The story arcs are short, so it's perfect for new readers who wants to give it a try. You can just randomly jump to any new world and read that to form an opinion. I encourage you to try out the zombie apocalypse chapter (c9.0), it's really fun. Yup.Frankly, I was immensely disappointed, not only can't I agree with the notion that it's a formidable transmigration story, in my opinion, it's not even a good novel per se. Romance, I see none. There aren't any real feelings between MC and ML, it's more a physical obsession on both sides, which makes sense considering that they don't know each other at all, yet the author tries hard to paint it as undying everlasting love – most friends with benefits have a more realistic "romantic" relationship than those two. The quality has very prominent fluctuations, while some arcs are passable, others don't even reach a mediocre highschool essay, both in terms of overall writing quality and story execution.
One way to explain this is, that the author mixed very old stories with newer ones, some are basically her first attempts at writing but for some strange reasons, she decided to put them in the middle of the novel, causing a shocking drop in quality.
It would have been better to leave them out and have less arcs instead of worsening the already far from perfect novel even more. All of the arcs have one thing in common: the MC is so overpowered that there's no possible way to feel suspense or have even a tiny bit of interest in how he will solve all of the problems, instead of one golden finger, he has 10.
He knows everything, is more intelligent than several supercomputer combined, can solve everything, adapt to every possible situation in the blink of an eye, is a perfect actor, and has a cheating device - just in case that he isn't overpowered enough.
Overpowered MCs can be a good choice for certain stories, the key is to keep the balance, there is no point in reading about someone who can sleepwalk through all dangerous situations. The characters, apart from MC and ML being overpowered, have no real personality, ML is possessive, MC is the omnipotent genius, which the author reminds us of at least once during every single arc, but apart from that, there's nothing, they don't feel real or at least believable, more like blank canvases with a post-it displaying a single word attached to it so the onlooker can differentiate between them. What irked me a lot was, that she introduces the original arc's MC only to forget about it in an instant, going completely against it, and turning them into an abomination.
The original protagonist of the ABO arc was meant to be a strong person on the top of the world, instead he became a weak leech depending on some strong random Gong, it wasn't even his own decision but a deal, ultimately turning him into a prostitute.
It can't be explained by MC changing everything, even the protag's character did a complete turn from strong to sl*t in the span of a few chapters without any prior indicator that he would easily resolve to such measures.
I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it at "chaotic, cliché, and uninspired". To be fair, there is no questionable consent or s*xual abuse, neither is there "underage s*x" like a reviewer before me said. 18 is the legal age in a lot of countries, and if we talk about the legal age for s*x, it would be 15-16, while the novel has countless problems, underage s*x isn't one of them.
One more plus, the MC is a gay guy, no "straight-turned-gay" miracle, the age difference between MC and ML tends to be very realistic as well, gay couples often have a gap of up to 15 years, even the s*x isn't this fantastical "blood & pain" wife/husband cliché but partners enjoying a good time together. These are the only reasons why I give it two instead of zero stars. Looking at the novel as a whole, it's a mediocre story with sub-bar writing style, lacking in more or less every department, and is easily surpassed by other writers with similar story-arcs but superior quality. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it, it's massively over-hyped and over-praised, maybe it's okay to read the individual arcs as short-stories, you won't miss anything by skipping those you don't like, it would be enough to read the first one and then the final – the novel is basically one big filler.
- This is a yaoi / shounen-ai / boys love story. There are fantasy elements and a noticable plot (that's actually pretty good), but overall a huge plot element in the story is the male MC's romances with men. You have been warned.
- This isn't the most realistic, heart-pounding, or complex novel, but it's still pretty well-written and an easy read. If you don't mind BL and just want a fantasy romance, give it a try.
Synopsis:- The main character was a genius hacker before "God" trapped him in a virtual hell. Always reborn as the "villian" or "cannon fodder" character, he's forced to play out the roles and dies an unseemly death in thousands of worlds, over thousands of years. When he finally breaks the cycle, he resolves to ruin God's plans... and finds love along the way.
Plot Notes:... more>>- The information about the world is dumped at you at the get-go. The script is always melodramatic to show how poor the original host was supposed to be. Well, not always, some are pitiful, some are s*upid. Sometimes when you think about it, they actually made mistakes they should be held accountable for. So you get the script on the first chapter when you don't know the characters and don't give a damn, at least I don't have emotional fluctuations. The other part is that at times these worlds sound perfunctory. Many times the story doesn't really dig deeper, though who knows what would happen if it did;
- The OP-ness of the MC (and ML) . Tbh the way he's all-powerful and knows everything is kind of... too much at times. I mean that part that he's omnipotent with many things, but it all comes not from his natural talent, but the system that ajusts his parameters to be the best. The only redeeming factor is that he has a high IQ, but for a high IQ person he sometimes acts completely illogically. In their latest novel author actually corrected many of these details (more about it at the end of this edited review). But also the cheating of his sytem dowgrades the result and his character as the main, surely he learnt a skill or two previously, but there's a constant mentioning of system involvement. Thus there's no real thrill that should be present from a character, because you know for sure he will meet no challanges, he'll be most perfect in that field that belonged to original owner. Plus he always ends up as some huge celebrity or the king of universe, like a fairy tale. The story falls into his plan too conveniently and thus makes the story kind of predictable;
- Romance. Like honestly it felt as if someone said - well, we traveled few worlds together and I don't feel bad about it, let's continue like that. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan how the romance part was built, since many times they couldn't recognize each other, surely it surved as a story twist, but only once in Arc 11. The love part of this novel didn't feel like development of feelings, but just lust. Because ML always forgot about MC and his feelings were awoken being near, it kind of gives you the notion of fated lovers indeed, but on the contrary they never accumulated, they always stayed in that world. I don't say that MC, even if they were initially different men, shouldn't fall in love, but it actually drops a shadow on his and ML's relationship, since there were several worlds before MC was certain that the person was one;
- ML stalking/monitoring issue, it's not sexy at all, it's not intersting, it's actually creepy. MLs of those years when this novel was written actually suffered a lot from this r*pey/forceful trope. While I understand it was passionate and domineering in the heart of the author, but many times it's not conveyed well. He sometimes blackmails MS, sometimes acts really out of line, but it's all love right? Nah, girl, nah. You add his monitoring/peeping issue, the constant need to be near, it actually makes things not look good imo;
- Has anyone with lactose intollerance like myself felt there was too much milk? Ok, kidding XD But I hate warm milk, my enthusiasm was downsized because of it.
- Shallow worlds. Some worlds were pretty decent, even having novel ideas for twists, although you kind of wanted to point at the lack of logic of it, but other worlds made you wonder - why am I wasting time on this again? Also there were several borriwings. Especially the modelling arc, btw it felt so long, it was the most boring of them all and had one of creepiest MLs. Plus with the way how the top model program was used you kind of wondered - did the author take anything else?
- Very plain villains btw, sometimes the way the villains were actually treated on the background also lacked thrill a bit.
- Beastiality extras, like I will never understand the love for that shit. I understand author was more excited when they were younger to write more p*rny stuff, but I don't get the like for this shit.
The only positive stuff I remember is that sometimes the change of small details that brought different results. I'd say one thing, author did revise their mistakes with their latest QT and although the setting of MC is similar - truly OP character - but MC enters only one field, science, ML is also corrected into a cuter guy,... more>>
