I'm giving this a 2/5 because the first 50-100 chapters were quite good; however, the last half is bad.

The start was good with the typical MC who came back to Earth after being teleported to another world where magic exists. He uses his abilities to help people on Earth, and he gradually becomes stronger, using his knowledge from his previous occupation; however, things start falling apart after he becomes well-known and takes his abilities overseas.

Everything starts speeding up and the MC starting jumping levels quickly, becoming OP'ed too fast. The... more>> gradual leveling was great until this happens. When the MC went overseas, the plot was s*upid. I can't really blame the author for this since there are only 200 chapters for this novel. Maybe he was forced to quickly end the novel, or maybe he got tired of it. Who knows. The novel would have been better if there were more chapters.

The beginning was great, but I had to force myself to finish the last 50-75 chapters. The good thing is that its a quick novel to finish. <<less

Originally, I wanted to give this a rating of 4/5, but after thinking about the plot as a whole and especially the ending, I don't believe it deserves a rating that high. So, you can consider my rating to be around 3-3.5/5. I'll give my opinions on the story/characters below, and then give some pros/cons in summary.

Spoiler

The main character is interesting and fits the type that I like: OP (both in growth rate and ability), decisive (shows no mercy), and domineering (he doesn't give anyone respect). That being said, most of the other characters are irrelevant, and they're only there to populate the world, carry out mundane management tasks, or simply to show that there are other people around. True enemies don't really exist; the MC stomps on just about everyone, and there's no real danger throughout the novel.

The story starts out pretty well, leaving the reader with lots of questions about the world and the leveling system. Later in the story, we learn that the universe is actually much bigger than originally implied. Then, the story basically becomes an RTS-game, where the whole point is climbing the ranking ladder through RTS-style fights and upgrading your own turf as best you can. For me, this added a layer of unnecessary abstraction and took my enjoyment from a 4.5 to a 3.5 (the system was just a convoluted way to take control over worlds and move to different worlds -- basically an overly intricate portal). Towards the end, the story became much more ridiculous while the explanations for everything were far-fetched and utterly horrible. I won't spoil the ending, but suffice it to say that even an ending where "it was all a dream and the MC continued life as if nothing happened" may have been better. What enjoyment I had left from how the character acted was completely ripped away, and for that I would rate it a 1.

[collapse]

Pros:

  • The MC is bad-ass, overpowered, and does what he wants, which I enjoy. If you don't like those sorts of novels, then this obviously is not for you.
  • The world is expansive and mysterious, and prior to the last third of the novel, had lots of potential.
  • The few supporting characters that matter actually change throughout the novel, while the MC doesn't, which is a refreshing take on character dynamics (usually it's the reverse situation).
Cons:

  • The ending. The last 20ish chapters actually ruin any sort of build-up that had happened prior to that point. Some things just had no explanations, while those that were given were insufficient. It was incredibly unsatisfying.
  • The power growth in the beginning, is steady, or at the very least, understandable. As the novel progresses, power levels don't matter anymore, and the MC is always as strong as he needs to be.
  • There are no real problems or true enemies; the novel doesn't attach much gravitas to anything. The tension is minimal, so it lessens the enjoyment as you read, because you start to realize everyone's going to be fine.
  • The dialogue isn't very intricate. But somehow remains confusing; this might just be the difference between Korean novels and Chinese novels. Sometimes the characters speak in riddles just to be mysterious, but if you skip over it, you'll still be fine. It's not quite filler; it actually attempts to provide mysterious and misleading information, but it instead just becomes confusing and superfluous.
Overall, if you're looking for a short novel to read, which is basically just mindless fun and hilarity, then this is a good choice. If you're looking for an elaborate plot and care about character background and the world's lore, you most likely won't enjoy this. <<less

If I had written this review 100 chapters ago, I would have given it a 10/5. The first 100 chapters are some of the best I have ever read: it's funny, lots of action, a good story, well written characters and so on.

But the last 50ish chapters, the story is kinda losing it. It's still funny and the MC is a total badass but it feels rushed, events that could have been spread over a dozen chapters are cramped into a single one just to speed things up. Also the... more>> character development, which was more then decent at the start, has completely disappeared.

Pro:
- Unique story
- Total badass MC who sticks to his own moral from start till end, even if it might not always be the best
- Good side characters (in the first 100ish chapters)
- Filled with action
- Lots of humor

Cons:
- Sometimes to much action
- The last 50 chapters are kinda rushed
- The story becomes a bit too complex for the small amount of chapters

Overall I love this novel and would recommend everyone to read it, especially now that the translation is almost finished. <<less

.

Also the concept of the title is like none (it even lead me to feel like not reading it because of that title and summary) [but spare time and recommendations :3]

And the plot is kinda messy they added other things to do for MC when he needs to do something else at times and the characters just go along with MC even though he could be crazy at time because of the pressure he gives off.

I still enjoyed bits of the novel, give it a try if you have spare time [last on pending list for me so far] <<less

I really enjoy this novel.

The MC is acting smartly with an objective. Not too much harem, large interesting companions and the universe is very large.

MC is not overpowered with brainless, he is mature.

Except some little minor errors as usual, the plot is nicely developped.

Pros:
-Unique plot in a sea of similar isekai novels - MC becomes top dog in other world and returns to Earth, but it seems monsters from his previous world are appearing on Earth
-Action packed
-MC is sooo Alpha

Cons:
-Too action packed for my taste
-MC is tooo Alpha. He's strong and intelligent and acts according to his own moral code, but this MC is just too one note. He meets an obstacle, overcomes it, then comes the next obstacle, overcomes it, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat. Too make matters... more>> worse, this novel is totally centered around the MC and doesn't care about the side characters, so if you're looking for something more than action, it's just, kind of bland. <<less

This is one of the greatest novels I've read in a long time. It has some hilarious comedy, and I would recommend reading it just for that, if nothing else. The main character is also great. He's pretty far up there on the list of shameless, selfish pricks, but that makes any situation he encounters very... colorful, to the say the least. If I had to give one major demerit, it's that, thus far, the MC has not run into any significant challenges. He has had to fight seriously, but... more>> never to the point where his life was really threatened, and I expected some more of that. Along that same line of thought, however, this novel has a somewhat brutal undertone (think Warlock of the Magus World for this part). It doesn't show up often, but this MC is absolutely willing to be brutal. He is also willing to kill those that get in his way. This part can easily be good or bad depending on the reader's views, but I enjoyed it; it was a nice change of pace.

Overall, I'd recommend this novel primarily for its comedy. The action is still enjoyable, but I don't think it's the main point at all, at least not at this point in the novel. <<less

Another second chance novel. This time the MC comes back and has no clue what is happening and plows through the dungeons like a boss. Pretty much sums it up, oh wait actually I missed the part where he gets money and recognition and b*tches. (Or maybe just one grill, who knows.) Anyways TL;DR he is op af and is similar to ATG where he does whatever he wants and is selfish.

Great novel, have been reading up to chapter 57 in 1 sitting and really enjoyed it. The story pacing is pretty good and the fighting scenes dont drag on forever. The MC is very overpowered and I feel like the story's strong point isn't really the game elements used or lvling up, since he is overpowered anyway and they kinda skip over the game related stats etc pretty fast. The real strong point is the personality of the MC, how shameless he is and the hilarious situations surrounding him. The... more>> combat is also fun to read, it is very well written, even though it hasn't involved a lot of suspense uptill now.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone who likes to laugh and likes fast paced stories. <<less

I was looking up what people on animesuki would have to say about this novel, and look into future plot developments. And then I realized, this story doesnt really have a plot. It features a main character so socially disjoint that people seem to find it funny, and features the standard korean-not-quite-wuxia-filler-character-mob-mentality issues.

That said, I feel that the author has completely nailed it with women talking smack about each other. And still a better romance than twilight. -If you do not understand this meme (yes I'm talking to you ESL... more>> people out there), ignore that last part entirely. <<less

Overall, I like it. It's not perfect, but if you like game element stories it's fun. Personally I like the MC's personality, it's funny that he's pretty shameless. Translations aren't fast, but they aren't ridiculously slow either.

TLDR: The shameless MC is basically a thug.

If you don't mind stories where the shameless MC gets ahead and zooms upwards in wealth and power in how he takes advantage of others, intimidates others, blackmails and threatens others into giving him even all of their life savings, then this is the story for you. Of course, everything is justifiable from the point of view of the shameless thug MC and the author makes it that way. But as the chapters mount up, the number of such unsavory events builds up... more>> and the MC became more and more unlikeable to me. Some people may be in the mood for something different, and don't mind seeing a bad guy MC get ahead, so they may rate this story highly. I am not in the mood for shameless thugs getting ahead and I didn't enjoy reading this story. <<less

10 chapters before the ending it's revealed that the whole story takes place in a Matrix-like VR world, but due to some of the most confounding Deus Ex Machina I've ever read Woojin is able to merge the VR world with the real one and keep his near god-like powers? The heck?

This novel was pretty good. Action was great, main character was great, plot itself was okayish. It was a very interesting read start to finish. However, there are a few problems.

First of all, the ending made zero sense. No matter what standpoint you look at it, it makes zero sense. It isn't due to a lack of understanding, it's just the ending itself doesn't work. Major Spoiler: ... more>>

So, old earth, which is on the brick of destruction due to a lack of resources, decided to use virtual reality to create a planet. Now, I'm not an expert at programming, but I'm pretty sure you can't create a program that creates a planet, several different races, and supernatural powers, gods, etc, into reality.

[collapse]
However, the ending was interesting to say the very least.

Romance. There is none, to say the least. The "female lead" became the boyfriend to the main character after a misunderstanding. The main character has no romantic feelings for her. Even the side characters have no romance. However, all of a sudden during the epilogue they all get together.

Also, I shouldn't have to say this since the novel has the "Overpowered Protagonist" tag, but everyone is dumbed down to make the main character look smart. Everyone is dumbed down. His allies, his enemies, everyone. The main character asked some dude for 4 grand and instead of giving it to him he deludes himself into thinking the main character meant 400 grand. Then, since he can't pay it, he becomes a s*ave to the main character. Furthermore, all the villains make no sense. Despite him possessing more power then literally every nation combined, they still try to fight him. Their underestimations of the main character make zero sense.

I highly recommend this novel. However, if you plan on reading it make sure you turn your brain off, especially towards the end. <<less

Like, was it neccessary for her to eveen feel anything towards the MC? Not to mention MC never really made up with Jiwoon/Dojin

It's one of the same story's about a Korean man obtaining an op power in a world where there are gates. This starts out ok with the main character being overpowered but having an enjoyable to read personality, but he slowly starts to become more one dimensional and the story just gets more boring. There is never a moment when you think that the main character will lose because he's just overpowered, he also isn't strong because he's intelligent like in the novels extra or struggles to obtain power and... more>> is awarded through his efforts like in solo leveling. We are told he struggled in the past but we never get to see it, we only get to see op main character that will never lose. Finally the story tries to set up this big plot twist but it's just bad, it was set up properly but its just a bad twist, and the solution to the plot twist makes no sense, the main character just gets around it like its nothing because hes strong. This would be 2 stars but its not a harem so it gets a bump. <<less

Hmm, I think you'll like this story if you are charmed by tyrants, otherwise the personnality of the MC will tire you out.

The plot seemed ok, no obvious plot hole and I like the dungeon genre but I dropped this story. The MC is a bully, sure the author explain why, but still he is the kind you find in chinese novels : "I don't like you, let's kill you" or "I'm strong, kneel before me". That's kind of weird because sometime in the story there are interesting and believable... more>> personnality development, they happen to the MC but don't change him afterward. You want to relate but in the next paragraph it's like it didn't happen.

Plus, at first, there are funny times, but then he'll bully/be cruel to a character with a good soul ('cause he only like people with clean souls) and you'll be confused or disgusted then understand it was an attempt at humor from the author...

And finally there is the trope : the world underestimate/sneer at South Korea but the hero who'll save earth is Korean so bow down to him in a public setting, that's strangely common in korean stories but still cringy.

So, as I said, if you like tyrant-type, you might like the story because it was interesting, only the MC's personnality made me drop it. <<less
