This one is interesting, especially within the very crowded reincarnation genre from Japan.

For starters, there is very little "japan has the best culture and makes you OP" (and exactly no culture at all for the whole beginning, as it's just a monster in a den of monsters).

The main character is not one of those "I need to hide what I can do", and frequently gets overconfident in her abilities (usually only getting saved because she is the main character, so plot armour/luck plays a role), which is a nice bit... more>> of fresh for the genre.

The overall world is fairly well built and it is quite evident that it was thought of before starting, only giving us knowledge along with the main character for narrative reasons, as it doesn't really feel like major points are taken out of nowhere at some random point in the novel.

It is definitely not without faults, with the start being a lot of exposition with little else, and the pacing a bit inconsistent here and there. Most of the characters are also barely developed and fairly flat, making them less interesting than it seemed to intend at first.

The writing seems to be fairly good, but it's not award winning, especially since it's a lot of raw thoughts of the main character mixed with first person narration, with plenty of exclamations.

On the translation front, I would recommend starting with blastron's version, as it is higher quality overall, and if you feel that 1 chapter a week is too slow, switch to raising the dead afterwards. Raising the dead follows the terms that turb0 used, so switching will make you wonder about a few expressions, like "nay wa" that is translated as "no way" (proper english) by blastron, but is used as the catch phrase as is by the others.

Overall, a fairly good reincarnation novel with a few twists, the most notable being that the protagonist throws away her humanity for the most part (even monster reincarnations usually have the protagonist try very hard to stay human inside). Also, the main might be a female in gender, but it makes very little difference and you could consider her a genderless monster for most of the story. <<less

Quite good for OP MC, another world, and reincarnated style LN. The catch it is that the MC is really weak at beginning then slowly develop. She get fair amount of hardship, then become extremely OP latter on. There are many good and boring moments, which make the story acceptable and fun enough to keep reading. Still... it is another one of those LN fantasy where everything is become too cliché at some point. If you get enough of those cliché story, you will not be impress. If you still have enough room for those kind, it is quite good for certain degree.

Ehhh, It's alright. I would've given it a 3.5 rating... But there's no half.

I read this because people said it's like tensei shitara slime, but so not correct. At least not in the 100 chapters I've read so far!

I've been reading this with 80% boredom and 20% interest. The reason is because the story is very descriptive of the MCs journey from a hatching to lvling up. Talks a lot about her decisions, her meals, her skills, and how she uses it, what she kills and where she's... more>> going. EVERYTHING. Thus, I've been skimming a LOT. There's just so much descriptions where I just want to read about the general story plot and where it's heading... From time to time there's side stories of another guy character classmates point of view and life.

Up to Ch 70ish is when it gets a bit more interesting with the other characters story. Just a little. It's pretty suffering to read every single thing about her life style for over 70 chapters.

Around Ch. 100 is I guess when the author finally jumps the story forward confusing and disappointing the hell outta me. I guess its to keep readers entertained but my views on the MC kinda dropped. <<less

Believe all the good reviews. The first arc is slow, it's all about grinding levels, but hang in there! After the boring grinding, action picks up, and then a twist presents itself very very subtly... (or, not so subtly hahahahaha!) And then the plot just picks up from there.

The writing is genius. This has 349 people voting 5 star for a reason! Nai waaaaa!!!

I love reading RPG stories where you get to see the characters grow stronger instead of starting out as OP. This series started off with daily updates too, which added to its popularity. The MC also has an amusing, unique personality.

Unfortunately though, there comes a point where they inevitably become OP and every stat display becomes a massive pointless info dump where many of the skills aren’t even used in the story. At this point the MC achieves apotheosis, and the RPG hijinks end.

Similar to Afureta after the 1st labyrinth,... more>> the story takes a bit of a dive as it heads in a new direction. The side-stories start to feel repetitive as they relay the same story twice from another character’s perspective without adding very much. It’s hard to care much for the parallel world or the side-characters that briefly pop up, despite there being an implied overarching apocalyptic threat that has yet to be fully explained.

WN has been on hiatus since mid-Feb 2016. <<less

Start is a bit shaky but the writing and story improve along the way, you get a sense of the character and the bigger picture as you continue reading. I would recommend this to any RPG fans as it has a lot of game elements but you would have to be patient with the plot because at the begining it is very similar to any other novel reincarnation novel and doesn’t differentiate until around 80+ (but the chapters are quite short so it isn’t a problem).

So, yeah, give it ago.... more>> It’s not one of my absolute favourites but it is entertaining. <<less

Awesome story, and Turb0 really did an amazing job translating all those chapters, almost catching up to the author by himself! I am very grateful for his work, and extremely happy a new team has picked up this story where he stopped.

The story is very refreshing in the genre, the main character nicknamed “Kumoko” by most readers is very creative with the little she has, and thought she is silent her inner thoughts are hiralious. Especially when talking about/to her own skills, I absolutely love her relationship with her Appraisal.... more>> Now the story can be a little confusing with the side chapters, which are focused on other reincarnated classmates. The thing to know about those is that the side stories and the main Kumoko story aren’t in the same time period at first. But they are still very important to the plot and world building, especially when the main story is catching up to the side stories. So, bear with them xD

All in all, this is definitely a favorite of mine, I highly recommend it. <<less

it was good at first were the spider is fighting for survival every day, and think of ways to improve her efficiency. But once she enter god mode the author seem like he run out of idea for the MC, well a least he start focusing on the other character, I wish he do a full arc for every characters or classmate. Im tired of point of view every10 chapters

I can't believe many people rated this 5stars. I like Re:Monster and I like slime tensei even more, but this... this is just a pile of RPG backlog. At start it was awfully boring, but since each chapter is short, I resolute myself to read a few dozen chapters more, but the story was barely going nowhere. This series is literally like watching a gamer streaming his gameplay but instead of watching with visual and sound, you read tons of lines of commentary and logs. If anyone said it was... more>> good, please tell me at which chapter it becomes good because 40 chapter in I still find it hard to be satisfying. <<less

It is really enjoyable story. I truly become fond of some characters. I think that characters are main point of this novel. But that is why conclusion feels so strange. Just write a bit more about every character's fate. It will give this novel truly good aftertaste.

Kumo was so fond of Ariel that it was hard to read that she was forced to go never to see demon lord remaining life...

How Sophie, Mera and four little sisters spiders are just waiting in some north castle...

It was unbearable to just receive 2 sentence of Wrath just destroying his soul...

I don't believe that it is what Kumoko wanted for demon lord and her only friends...

2 sentence about characters that we were reading for 16 volumes. It is just unfair.

I don't know how author can be so disrespectful of his own characters.

The title gives you exactly what to expect. However, your expectations may be subverted just like mine were if you think there isn't more to this story. There are typical isekai game-mechanic elements which make it feel very familiar but the story is crafted in such a way where you are never bored. There aren't many pieces of fiction that have genuinely shocked me. I'm a Spider, So What was one that did just that and opened my eyes to this medium. Without this novel I would have likely not... more>> even gotten into reading light novels in the first place and for that I'm extremely thankful. It's a highly addictive read and I could not recommend it more or praise it enough. Please read it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. <<less

A fun and enjoyable isekai story that quickly diverges into multiple storylines at different points of time, from different character's POV. Naturally as you would expect, this would cause a lot of confusion and whiplash, but the author is quite good at giving key details that keeps you engaged and up to date with what is happening and what has happened. Not much criticisms from me as it would be more nitpicking that actual glaring issues, hence a 4.5/5 (If only this website did.5 stars...)

Translations from the original group are not good. If you're going to read this go with blastron.

However, even with a good translation I can't enjoy this book. Each chapter seems to be 50% repetition of what the previous chapter said or pointing out very obvious things. Along with this the chapters are incredibly short.

There are various issues with the actual story too, for example it's not clear if the character is thinking something or doing something. The overall feel of the book is also too childish for me... there's even... more>> a warning about the MC eating a frog, like, so what?

Tempted to stick with it to see if things improve, but already 5% through so dont hold much faith in that. <<less

I didnt like the game/RPG aspect of this at first, in fact I usually hate it because its a crutch to hold up shoddy work but I didnt realize at first that this WN uses this aspect sooooo well. Its one of the few times where these things actually are explained with a good reason as to why it exists at all and it adds so much to the story.

Its cheeky, funny, the MCs are very likeable (except shun lol) the worldbuilding, plot and characters are all top notch. It... more>> left me wanting more and more. My review of this is Read it through novelupdates bcs otherwise u will be most confused. Story is quite good overall Spider reincarnation, Reaching goodhood etc. Most of u wont like the part where from good goes to bad parts. My opinion on this is to read it through it all as it will be most explained.

For most people reading this if u want. Hope u have strong heart bcs I belive this is going to have a very bad ending I mean in char. Also our Female MC is kinda duh to good to other people she should be more cold-hearted and beliving that most of them as pawns in her plans. MC is quite OP overall bcs of clones and she is fighting her former friends or fellow Administrators.

Hi. Hello? It seems the hype from the long awaited update and anime airing has died down considerably. Here goes nothing

Plot - the story is pretty well-thought. I mean, we've been Rayshifting™ back and forth for who knows how many times, with nearly half aspiring Masters™ dropping off around 200+ chaps.

Character - With a female MC, anything goes. Be it psycho, yandere, tsun and why not spider?

Translation - It's kinda funny, not in a bad way of course. Reminds me a lot of... more>> BakaPe*vert's translation style, specifically arifureta's after stories.

Anime - they nailed it. Though with 24 eps, it will probably end at elf village arc. Yea, THE elf village arc that tragically kills most readers. Plus, they revealed ariel and kumoko pretty early, meanwhile we readers are living in SPAIN with silent S.

LN - If the story pacing, terms, translation or any other things bother you, LN is the way to go. Its much more organized and revised than the WN version. Though, rereading it all is hell, as missing a single plot progression can get you lost pretty easily. I dont know why, but YenP's for this one is real good, maybe they dont have anything to argue on? Who knows

P.S. - Im here after finishing LN volume 11. V11 might be the biggest turn off for most (not me) becausee of reasons

as explained by author below:

Author's Afterword [Kinda Spoilerish, But Not Really]

Spoiler

AFTERWORD

This is Okina Baba, reporting live on the scene and so forth and so on.
Here we are at Volume 11.
Two of the same number—a repdigit.
People love repdigits for some reason and place a kind of special value on them.
Honestly, even I get excited about repdigits.
And since this repdigit volume is coming out at the beginning of the new Reiwa era, it feels like an especially auspicious occasion.
Yet, in order to get a repdigit, you need to reach two digits first.
And to reach the next repdigit, Volume 22, I would need to double the amount of volumes I’ve put out so far.
In fact, I suspect that this series might be over before we reach the next repdigit.
If not, I’m sure I’ll go on about repdigits again in the afterword of Volume 22.
Maybe I should even aim for the next repdigit to be the last volume?
Although, as a creator, I do feel like a repdigit or a multiple of five is always a good number for the last volume of a series.
Realistically, I think it would be difficult to end this series on the next repdigit.
I don’t even know if it’s going to last until the next repdigit.
Did I mention 11 is a repdigit?
Now, Volume 11 is totally different from the previous volumes.
There have been previous volumes with a different tone or format than usual, true.
But I don’t think any of them has been as distinct as this one.
This series has gone on long enough to break two digits and even reach a repdigit, but now I’ve gone and made an unbelievable blunder in this volume.

[THIS PART HERE]

The protagonist barely shows up at all.
Where is the titular spider content? Where?!
There’s such a huge lack of spiders that they should probably change the title just for this volume!
What the hell is the author thinking?
Oh, that’s me.

Yes, the protagonist of this volume is Julius the hero, older brother to our reincarnated friend Shun.
There have been plenty of other narrators besides the protagonist thus far, but this is the first time that we don’t get the protagonist’s point of view a single time in the entire volume.
And instead of being someone close to the protagonist, the narrator is someone who’s both physically and mentally very far removed from her.
But I think that by distancing ourselves from the protagonist, we get to see things that she would never have mentioned, things that the protagonist knows but other people don’t, and even some things that the protagonist doesn’t know about at all.
And then there’s that final scene!
It would never have been completed without my editor W and the talented Kiryu.
Which brings us to the thank-yous.
Thank you to Tsukasa Kiryu for the excellent illustrations as usual.
I think anyone who read this book to the end will see how wonderful that last scene is.
So wonderful! So beautiful! Really, thank you so much!
Thank you to Asahiro Kakashi for your hard work on the manga.
In Volume 7, which goes on sale at the same time as this novel volume, you’ll get to see even more of dear old Ronandt and his explosive sayings!
I’m impressed as always with the characters’ expressions that you don’t get to see in the novels.
And thank you to the anime staff as well.
They’re all hard at work as we speak, so please wait for more information.
Thank you to my editor W and everyone else who assisted with the production of this book.
And to everyone who picked it up and read to the end:
Thank you very much.

At the beginning, it’s quite boring. The story goes very slow. Dialogs is strange for me because it’s first person speaking.
However, I have read vol.11 right now. I could say that it’s an awesome novel. The story lines are very interesting. Each characters have their own characteristics, smart, not dullll.

I was actually reading the Light Novel and I'd say it was really good until I reach the point where Author introduce Sophia and her love with her Buttler it feels really force and just kinda ruined the series for me the romance shenanigans is so annoying that It comes to the point on which I don't even bother to read their POV pretty sure there's a lot of ways to emphasize, use, explain Envy as a skill. And the fact that a little kid is inlove with an old... more>> man really bothers me too even if you say she's already an adult. (Though she doesn't really seem to act like one). I was already halfway of volume 9 and I'll keep reading since I got my own rule to finish whatever I started. Though if you're planning to read this I guess it depends if you like what I've just said. <<less
