One novel of Mishima Yomu, author of "7th", "The world of otome games is touch for mobs", "I am the Villainous Lord of the Interstellar Nation". I think if you like "7th", you will like "Dragoon" too because of author's building character and plot development ability.

Its a good ln, with a good ending. Too many forceful plot but you can ignore it because "based on game plot". It has the same vibe as Sevens. It took me a while to realize these has the same author.

Came here after reading the last volume of Seven (vol 10). And boy I have to say I dont regret it. It is a really good story in my opinion.

The MC is straightforward with his dream and motivations but he shines in characterization along the other characters. I think the highlght of the novel is the chilhood and school arc due to all the things that happen; the friendships, development, comedy and character interactions. After the graduation the story slows down a bit but picks up in the last arc.

Seeing... more>> how the MC goes on a rampage mostly daily with the friends he is able to make is a joy to read. Very endearing. Some plot twists are pretty good as well. Aleist was also a very good addition to the cast, his development was great and his harem-comedy was gold. Poor guy XD

I must admit though that I would have wanted to know how other characters ended up as there is not that much explanation on them at the end. The epilogue though was really good and emotional for me. I would really like a complete anime adaptation though due to all the dragons and stuff it could be a disaster animation-wise haha.

When it comes to the romance, it was a little lacking though I understand why. However it is also true that later on the romantic interest was getting on my nerves a little as she basically prohibited the MC to do certain things. That whole thing was at the low part of the novel but oh well.

In the end, I truly reccomend this novel. If you are looking for a nice read, this is it. <<less

Well, first of all it will be explained later why people stubbornly kept hating a little kid, that part was well done in my opinion

specially because it contributes indirectly to Rudel to find a drangon

[collapse]

MC is not op af, there are other two heirs of the main houses, and Rudel is less versed in magic than the first and weaker with sword than the second, he's only stronger in general combat. The reincarnated one was a really interesting character, at first the novel made you think he is the typical peace of tr*sh, which he is, but instead of letting him there as a cliche character who will keep a grudge towards the MC, he will learn from his mistakes and grow up along the plot without having his life orbiting around Rudel, repeat he doesn't act as some npc and in general most of Rudel's friends too, it was quite refreshing.

The problem I find the most annoying which is not a minor one is the ridiculous romance, it can't be done in a worse manner. First, they tell you that Rudel had no conscience towards the opposite s*x and that's the main excuse for him to reject without bathing an eye, the problem is that the author made him fell in love with his classmate just because her hair was black like his sister's hair, after that we will have to bear how a npc of romantic interest is with MC all the time and telling him what to not do, and see how he reject other girls like the princess or Cattleya who were people who actually have chemistry with him, helped him and there was a nice development of how at first each one had their own objectives but then they became real friends, look I criticize harem, but I don't get why he would choose the npc, and the author mentioned it at lest 10 times a chapter, Rudel thinking about Izumi, Rudel rejecting because Izumi would be angry, Rudel accepting because Izumi woul be happy and the problem is that we don't know why he likes Izumi so much. This is fatal flaw for me because Rudel has the opinion of Izumi almost as important as becoming a dragoon, and he made decisions directly affecting the plot only taking in count the mood of the npc. <<less

Every single character in the story, including deities, is an idiot. Will this world be ok?

The author does a great job of creating side characters whose flaws make them memorable but without letting those flaws get out control.

this is an excellent novel..... this is one of those novels you should be reading just because.....

the author is really good at story telling. in fact, so good that sevens and otomege are one of the best lns out there. the translation to was very good.

though I have to tell you that the MC is very annoying and dumb at times. that can be forgiven.

the quality of the story though declines on the pre ending..... The author isnt that great ending a novel. Hey, but this is one hell of... more>> a fun to read <<less

This series is pretty good in making its characters memorable.

The protagonist isn't the protagonist and the idea of a harem gets played with. The author makes fun of the violent tsundere type and the many setting issues that get handwaved away in rpgs.

The protagonist drags fate awry and in turn frees several characters and some twists come right out only at the end

The one bad part is that it can get somewhat draggy once the protagonist graduates

This novel is quite pleasant because of its dragon - fanatic & dense protagonist and his band of misfit because thought they have a rough start, all of them surpassed their very limits to get their goal in life.

Well the whole story is much more fun when it comes to Aliest... more>>

In the beginning, he wanted a harem but when he realized his feelings for Millia. Things get rough due having 7 fiancée after graduating in the academy and it became the running gag in the Web novel. In the end, his harem grew to 70 members much of his dismay.

[collapse]

All together of this novel, I can recommend this because it does not follow your dense protagonist who get a harem but rather he choose to love the woman whom he loved the most. He reject the girls who confessed to him with a just reason
Spoiler

Like when Queen Cleo confessed to Rudel after the Celestia Crisis.

[collapse]

Rudel Arses is quite a relatable character due to his personality and motivation to strive to met his dream of becoming a Dragoon. He is dense yet humble despite being a noble. He is not a hypocrite like Fritz (the guy who he give a royal beat down in his academy days) because take the high road to reconcile with Chlust, his younger brother who always ridiculed him during his childhood days. <<less

A really nice series.

Character development: 3/5. The MC is an idiot, we already notice this not even 3 chapters in. The same go for the other characters. As the series when on, we can see more of their inner self, and some subtle change. The side character got more change than the MC, and the MC himself not really change much throughout the series, so there are negative, but the consistency of it is good.

Plot: 2/5. The plot is weak, especially toward the ending. And the overall plot is slow.

With... more>> the above point the series as best have 2.5 rating. But dont let that rating fool you, this series has its own charm.

The MC have a single dream since childhood and keep at it like an idiot. And he keep being an idiot the entire time.

The romance also the same, consistent all the way to the end, no harem, no indecision, and almost a bitter sad romance. The struggle is also not push aside.

The entire asmosphere itself. Since the in universe is in a peaceful setting, the series itself also has a slice of life vibe despice being an action focus series.

The way the people think about the MC and other character is also refreshing. Prejudice against the noble MC from the start is standard, but the fact that they dont change their view later on is actually a great writing that once again testament the peaceful setting, and there are no good rumor about MC anyway.

Finally, again, the consistency of the series is great. No great plot twist, just an enjoyable read about some idiot who go for ther dream.

TL;DR: the best comparison to this novel is like the Nanoha anime series. Each episode is weak, slow and really plain, but when you go through it all the series become very endearing. <<less

Ah.. First thing comes into my mind after reading this is : goddamn so much forgotten character in the end!

Story is about Rudel who're year yearning become dragoon. The MC itself only care about how to become strong or good dragoon. Not short of battle junkie but kinda obsessed one. Other character is somehow okay altho some of them is nonsense like the first princess does. But some of them clearly forgotten or not detailed enough. Every reader would think what happen to them in the end yet author didnt... more>> do it. Honestly im kinda dissappointed about how it is end.

Talk about plot, there's exist. It is not the complicated one yet not detailed enough. Some of plot revealed in the end but this still not answering some lingering question in my mind. Pace kinda in rush in the end. Relationship, this novel clearly lack of this aspect since the MC are like that, well in the end MC laid his hand. For world building, this novel didnt give detail one (like system of magic, kind of monster etc) but I do think its not problem.

Overall its decent read novel, the end did disappointed me.. But the novel itself are good. 4/5 <<less

I really like the translator... but the story really dragging its hard to maintain an interest. I really want to see 2nd princess and MC tie the knot. Only reason I read so far.

I just revisited this story.. Read another 40 chapters.

I like the translator. But this story is crap. There are so many things wrong with this story.. First its weird. Like MC got a creepy lizard fetish. Supposedly he is into girls.. But that is as far as that goes. He is head over heels for lizards.... more>>

Romance... Arranged marriages at a drop of the hat. To be honest while exaggerated. That probably the most realistic part of this story.

This story is seriously unsatisfying. It's boring. The only time it is not boring is when it gets disturbing. I revisited this story a few times. In different moods and I am always dissatisfied.

I read Sevens and enjoyed that. But this is definitely not that. same translator.

Another review said same author. I didn't care enough to investigate. <<less

I'm hooked with the story and the characters personality. It's a light read with much awesomeness just like the "Sevens", the author other series.

The story is overall okay for a debut work which by rule is either decent or jus weak this story takes on the reincarnated stories from a different angle following a character although cliched is interesting to see and you can´t help to root for; all the character have some in depth although there are many plot holes, lack of details such as depictions of training or magic mechanics and a accelerated pacing is passable as it is was the debut work of the writer.

The writing style fits the story... more>> quite nicely and the way it reacts to a reincarnated person is an interesting way of approach as it as my concern something that hasn´t been done before so the whole story is okay but it could been better.

On the overall a good story for a fledgling writer but also not that good <<less

The naming is a bit funny. "The Arses house " and seems to fit perfectly after you read chapter 1. We have a 5 year old boy, who is eldest son of an "ArchDuke" who is hated by everyone, yes everyone hates him. He is the main character. And then we have a reincarnator from our beloved Earth that is _not_ the protaganist. As for the translation. It feels a bit lacking. The context, the cohesion is sometimes not linking. Not rating this one yet, too few chapters to make... more>> a judgement.

Edit: I have now read to chapter 20 and the thoughts I have is, oh isnt the writer of this novel using same concept he/she used when he wrote his previous finnished novel "Sevens" ?

This novel is intressting the author is writing with a diffrent perspective in this novel. And this time, our reicarnated-kun from japan is not the usual humble and kind of a person but has a narcisstic self-centered personality. Well not like its a first time, there exist many of them in many novels when many transfer/reincarnates in group.

Sometimes the chapters are jumping. Basically there are diffrent POV, point of view, from diffrent person here and there in a singel chapter. It is unorthodox. Makes you wonder if the writer is testing something new with this novel all in all.

And there is too much "forced" hatred and jealousy from this author, its samething with "Sevens". Actions and feelings needs to have a background, a reason for it to occur. But yeah, whatever..

Short: The writer is moulding a golem as protaganist in this novel, it is the same thing he/she did when writing "Sevens". Personally it is leaving a bad taste in the mouth. <<less
