Stellar transformations is a good casual read. Do not expect much from it.

I was initially interested as MC create his own techniques. But MC himself is quite dissapointing. He is not smart or ruthless or bloodthirsty. But he wants to practice cultivation anyways he is MC so that's not a big deal.

MC is quite passionate for his family and it's sometimes a real pain in the ass at how the family drama enfolds.I don't understand why those characters are even given roles expect for MC to visit them after every... more>> arc. And everytime he visits them some kind of sh*t happens and some s*upid villain tries to blackmail MC using his family. There are many moments which are very cringy with his family.I mean does he have to do that every single time he leaves?

I don't understand why uncle lan took him in and why did he even care. Except in the beginning where he trains himself to peak houtian and Xantian I don't find him resolute or determined. I also find him hypocritical as he steals the 8th jade sword by killing. Then after some chapters, he tells s*upidly to his father like a little bit*h about how he doesn't like killing and others are 'forcing' him to kill. And all that drama for a whole f*cking chapter. I mean when you have already killed so many people for treasures what's the f*cking point in then again b*tching about it.

He is neither cunning nor crafty. All his scheming can be done by anyone. And his treasures, most of his power comes from treasures he relies on. Especially Niang realm arc, what did he even do in it?and it is 10000 beast chart now.

Why did he take a disciple anyway ? He just asks a passerby about immortal realm and then takes him as disciple? He doesn't even seem to care his technique is incomplete, only cares when he can use his treasures and meet his 'brothers'.I forgot to mention some cringeworthy brotherhood exists in this story, even though it's development is very poor.I still don't understand why Hou Fei treats him as his 'brother' even though there weren't many things which happened between them.

Overall this MC is unlike Meng hao in ISSTH who is cunning as well as very determined. Unlike leylin in WMW. We find certain distinctive traits among MC's of many novels.

Qin yu is just the one with magic treasures. Update: This guy is a moron, even though using a treasure lets his enemies know where he is, he just simply uses it. Why? For revenge against a s*upid dead disciple. He doesn't even know power level of people fighting him, when they injure his treasure he's like 'what ? Why are they so strong ?' Literally a rotten brain. Till Now only thing going for him is his treasures and idiot doesn't even know when to use them. <<less

At first the novel seems a little bit boring but as the story goes it becomes exciting. I really recommend this one if you read desolate era and coiling dragon, the story is connected in many ways. Specially in the last parts of the story.

I absolutely love this novel. This was the second web novel I ever finished, and I read it imediately after finishing Coiling Dragon, and I just finished reading it for my second time. While it is a little lacking when compared with IET's other works, this novel still feels well done to me.

Could it have been written better? Probably. Are there major issues with the plot? I don't think so; only if you're being really picky. Personally, I loved the writing and story all the way through, although he does... more>> get a bit OP at the end, to the point where it becomes a bit pointless for there to even be fights. Nevertheless, I loved seeing the MC, Qin Yu, grow in power over the course of the novel along with his two close brothers. I feel like IET did a good job fleshing out Qin Yu, and I genuinely respect his willpower, determination, and loyalty. There is a clear progression from the immature boy who seeks his father's approval and the man who stands above the universe.

There are a few times when, rereading the novel, I felt like the plot moved too slowly, but I did not experience this frustration the first time I read Stellar Transformations. This novel was truly a joy for me to read both times, and I couldn't help but become engrossed in reading, binging on multiple occasions, reading multiple volumes in short periods of time. Even though I preferred the world in Coiling Dragon, this novel presents a more traditional cultivation system (other than for Qin Yu, that is), and I thoroughly loved reading this novel.

Also, for those who have read Coiling Dragon, I enjoyed having the knowledge of CD's ending that helped shes aomw light on the proceedings of some background elements in the later parts of Stellar Transformations. Some people say that the ending to this novel is disappointing, but in therms of the overarching setting that IET has established for his works, I thought the ending was good, and it fascinated me both times I read it... Though reading this ending alongside the ending to CD is obviously the most thorough.

Overall, I absolutely love this novel and would recommend reading it. Although it could have been better executed in some regards, it WAS IET's first work, and I nevertheless throughly love this novel. <<less

This is one of the first full novels that I have read. Don't get me wrong I've read quite a few novels, however, this was a total of 600+ chapters. Firstly the storyline was completely developed. You could potentially say that the MC is OP here, however, I feel like you can still sense his development over the course of the novel. I truly enjoyed watching the journey of Qin Yu and his quest to develop himself. He had a goal which he wanted to reach (which varied over the... more>> course of each volume but generally stayed the same: to protect his loved ones.). Now, this seems like quite a normal plot line or way of starting a story, but perhaps because this was one of the first completed Xianxia novels that I have read, this novel has truly captured my heart. Qin Yu's brotherhood and romance, as well as his quest for strength, has been something that I have truly enjoyed (sorry this is slightly repetitive). Overall though I highly recommend it and it's definitely worth the read!!! <<less

The start of this novel was brilliant everything from the backstory of the MC and his family, to the world building, to the cultivation method, how ever as per usual IET he had to make the
Spoiler

MC ascend to the next realm

[collapse]
This is where the problems started for me, IET had a boundless universe full of possibilities to work on however he opted to start from scratch again every time the MC reaches the highest power level in the realm. There's also the usual IET problems of impossibly large figures of numbers and forgotten plot points and a lot of loose ends not tied. However the fights were quite fun to read despite the main plot of the story feeling kinda standard and bland.

I loved this WN by I Eat Tomatoes!

The character develops as quickly as possible and create miracle after miracle! But the author really know how such a OP person isnt really respected, so the main character Qin Yu has many setbacks and has many people who he cannot defeat, but since he wants to be the strongest he trains his hardest!

My first Xianxia Novel, so I may be bit biased.

But I really enjoyed the MC, Qin Yu, a lot.

Even though he is portrayed to be quite s*upid with intelligence of a teenager, he is quite the entertaining the main character to read due to his actions he made in the novel.

... more>> What I really liked about Qin Yu that stands out from the rest:

Even though he makes mistakes time to time, thing don't miraculous goes his way; He has no overpowered or cheating bloodline that make him superior to the rest, but only has a cheating item that could only heal him; Qin Yu is always hardworking and filial and he loves his family as his family also loves him too.

People always call Qin Yu incredibly lucky, but Linley from Coiling Dragon has a much more insane amount of luck compared to Qin Yu.

For a first time novel by IET, certainly it was a well-done novel with some flaws here and there, but nonetheless the story is quite enjoyable to read. <<less

If there's one thing that describe my final reaction, it'll be "that's it?!"

I have a lot of expectations since Coiling Dragon was a masterpiece, I suppose that's why it was quite a big letdown.

My main complaint is the utter lack of notable conflict in the entire story - enemies went from "dead end" tier into "difficult but manageable" and finally "insect" tier way too quickly since Qin Yu possess an infallible escaping mechanic for almost the entire story as well as infinite regeneration. Coupled with the plot-powered fast cultivation there's... more>> simply nothing that can threathen him to the point that it hype me into wanting to know how he get away with it, because it's too monotone:

1. Run away and/or hide.
2. Use said slipperiness to threathen weaker ones of the enemies faction.
3. Cultivate, and/or find precious artifact.
4. Curbstomp the previously invincible enemies.

At no point he was driven to the very corner of life and death with seemingly no exit remain, nor he ever lose anyone he actually hold dear. The entire story was telling the smooth sailing of Qin Yu to the apex of the universe. The best part is probably when he's still in the starting Qianlong continent. It's slow ride downward after that. <<less

I have finished the novel and I must say it was worth it. I generally lay importance to a good representation of the world and society and this story is the best of the best. The society make sense, and that don't you see often. Like Immortals have a logical society and not just a ancient China society what you see often. The world is simply unique and this story even describe how the world come to exist, this is just wonderful.
At the end you have a unique society with a lot of tough.

When you always thought that Immortals should have a special society and the world is a paperworld this novel might be something for you. When you search for a unique, this story is something for you. This Novel is just my favorite it has not the thing I hate about this sort of story.

The plot is pretty smooth and easy to enjoy. The beginning is hard to get through though as some arcs at the start are just super boring and a bit too long. But it gets better later on. I'd say the bit of romance between MC and his crush is what you keep looking forward to throughout the volumes and its what makes you come back. Although the romance was better done than in CD, the fights, action and combat system were a bit lacking. Overall I give it 4... more>> stars instead of 5 because of the lack of epic fights. <<less

Another fine IET novel. I started my journey among Chinese novels with his Coiling Dragon, and after I finished it decided to carry on with Stellar Transformation. I must say that this is a good novel, with the pleasing writing style of IET. The MC is a great person with a strong personal ethic, the cultivation system is well done and the world is presented in such a way that you don't feel this is a copy-paste of the Coiling Dragon Universe, even if they steem from the same Universe... more>> concept.

However while I enjoyed this novel, I find it not as good as the first serie of the duolologie. There's of course the fact that Coiling Dragon was the novel which introduced me to Xianxia (thus it will always be special for me), but I found that the development for characters beside the MC was a bit lacking, especially in the middle part of the serie, although it catches up a bit in the latter part (especially for his love interest). As a matter of fact, while Jiang Li is certainly a better love interest than Delia, I keenly feel the lack of a true grandfather/mentor figure like Grandpa Doehring or Lord Beirut. I must also say that Stellar Transformation share a common flaw with Coiling Dragon: in both novels, the ending feels kinda rushed.

Overall, this is a very good novel that will complete nicely an introduction to the Xianxia genre, especially after you have read its prequel. IET is a solid author, with a writing free of the negative aspects often found in some other Chinese novels (like misoginistic mood and borderline sociopath MC). I will continue to read his novels.
Now, should I go for Swallowed Star or Desolate Era ?

P.S: Thank you He-man, Pumpkin and Phillip. <<less

Pros: A good novel to pass time. The story-line and concept is decent (above average at-least) and it has alot more substance compared to most of the other superficial rinse and repeat Xianxia nowadays.

Cons: very poor writing style. There's alot of useless information dump, the author also beats around the bush alot and repeats the same thing over and over again in a poor attempt to create tension, which gets annoying at times and sometimes makes it a chore to read.
The MC also sometimes makes s*upid decisions just to force some plot twists in story which also makes it very predictable.

If you can look past the poor writing style, then its a pretty decent read altogether.

This story takes the reader on a journey of cultivation. You have to go almost, if not literally, placing yourself in the given story if you would really want to enjoy it. Why bother rushing a chapter? It is a pity if you do because you would miss out on the development of Qin Yu and his brothers together with his family and friends. Besides this though, the story itself has some flaws on side-character development. Qin Yu himself is extremely well-developed and grows exponentially. However, compared to Coiling Dragon's... more>> developments on it's side characters this is lacking. Besides that, I have noticed that nearing the end, in the final two volumes, the quality does drop. I am praying for a great ending but unfortunately the final stages of the story is where the quality takes a drop. Who knows though, there may be surprises like that of Coiling Dragon. I have given this work a 5 star review because you have to take into consideration the Chinese mythology and entire cultivation world. In fact, broadening your view to encompass these 'high realms' you have to take into what that would play out into the creation of people. Though these cultivators may seem simple-minded, at times they do, but human nature is ultimately one's bane. The view many take as they read is an omniscient one and that would fail at truly taking into the whole of most if not all stories. It is for this reason as I have personally enjoyed this adventure and hopefully will enjoy it til the end that I rate Stellar Transformation as a 5. Honestly, I wanted to rate a 4.5 but I did not know how to! <<less

I read up to volume 16 and decided to wait until its fully translated to read it again. The plot is okay. Its not impressive. But its okay. Due to the fact that it the translators changed a few times already, there are multiple terms for one item. The characters are likeable except for the MC. Just like CD the MC for ST also has daddy issues but Qin yu is more pathetic, he basically cried like a 10 year old girl when daddy didnt want to involve qin yu... more>> in his plans. Qin yu also likes to contradict himself.
Spoiler

after he was tired of getting ignored by daddy, he decides "from now on im going to live for myself" then a few chapters later he's back to his old mindset "you touch my dad, you die". Another example is that author himself frequently mentions that qin yu like to fight but later on in one chapter qin yu suddenly says "i dont like to hurt others" B*LLSH*T

[collapse]

There's a few more example which made me annoyed at the MC but im just to lazy to write. Maybe its just my personal taste but I find most of IET MCs not likeable. Overall, the story is not impressive but its "okay". I'd recommend it if you want to read something while waiting for you favourite series to be translated. <<less

Holy shit. Very surprising. Starts out VERY slow but later on you find out it was for perspective to just how much is there left. And there is ALOT left. Qin Yu is a good MC even though his reason for getting strong in the earlier chapters is weak. Romace is super slow but worth it. Can't find much to hate on. Wish it released way more often

3/5 what got me to drop my rating down (personal opinion) is the MC only purpose of getting stronger after volume 8-9 not sure is coz of that princes its that simple. Author tries to fool you with some other reasons he wants to get strong but its bullsh*t and on top of that it was one forced romance I was blown away when I read both of them confess there love 0_0 I was like wtf where did this come from, and from there starts the 12 volumes bullshit.... more>> Now dont get me wrong just coz I say its bullsh*t dose not mean most of you wont enjoy the read thats why its a 3/5 not lower:D but I personally dont like simple minded novels.

And to make this even worse here lets give the MC a bloody item that slows down time 100x or more dont remember so that he can lvl up faster (this is later on in the novel) with 1-2 time skips in 1 chapter :D. Oh you think that was not enough he has some bullsh*t magical tear of some goddess that makes him 10 times stronger physically that others and helps him train WAY faster than others but wait theres more that tear can heal him without end and can actually make him bloody immortal (or at least very close) im not gona mention the LUCK and plot armor coz EVERY MC has that :D. Now there are some other s*upid stuff in there but its been an year since I last read the translations and 4-5 months since I read the raws so I cant remember everything so ye this is mostly my review of ST if you dont like what I have said well tough luck have a cookie :) <<less

This novel is great but it is a IET novel so if you have any hope of a romantic love life or detailed romance you have to just put your focus onto the action scenes.

While it does have a bit of a translator issue... I would personally say that just put it on the side burner check up on it once a month or so and hope their is a chapter release.
4/5 took a star off due to lack of actual romantic build up.

The ONLY and I mean ONLY bad thing about this story/book/novel is the fact that translators quit translating it alot and then later someone else picks it up I can only get on my knees and pray to the greek pantheon that they force Ren to finish it when he gets done with coiling dragon (just incase the current translators quit) But I love this story every single part of it and there is still plenty of story left

character got lots of inner monologue and you realized that the writer suffering from lack of creativity. Character have to create his own cultivation system and due to the writers lack of creativity- the way he come up with solution is really boring and uninteresting for example in chapter 364 he had discovered "domain" but it was never explain what led to his understanding of domain. And what is more frustrating at halfway of the story the pacing becomes really slow. Too much detail on the fight scene but his... more>> progression and what led to his progression are never explored. <<less
