"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same f*cking thing... over and over again expecting sh*t to change" - Vaas Montenegro

The sentence that describe my whole experience of reading 1300+ chapters of this shits.

The whole adventures Li Qiye does can be listed as such:

... more>> 1. Going into some unknown/familiar (MC knows, we don't know) place as a nobody,

2. Meeting the local "most beautiful" goddess/fairy,

3. Swaggering around and beating the sh*t of some random bullies,

4. Demanding the goddess/fairy clan some random super secret sh*t only he and their clan knows,

5. Beating the sh*t out of the local tyrant,

6. Piss the crap out of the super hidden evil mastermind,

7. Finally getting the super secret treasure/technique mambojambo that nobody else hope to ever knew,

8. Jumping to another random ass unknown/familiar place with random method after making the goddess/fairy fall in love with him,

9. Rinse and repeat.

Besides his over-the-top arrogance and powr, LQ not that Interesting as a character

Don't read this crap. If you did, please stop.

Go read 'The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich', for the better "old dudes starting life over with his knowledge/power from previous lives" story reading experience. <<less

This novel is my guilty pleasure. The world building is very interesting, the main character is very OP and side characters are varied (with fair share of both complex and one dimensional characters), however the villains are mostly one dimensional. Story itself isn't very interesting, basically our guy Li Qiye goes around the world, collects the items he left behind in his previous life, smashes the heads of the local experts. He also collects a lot beauties, and then abandons them at the end of the story arc... to get... more>> more beauties in a different place.

He also likes to reminisce about the tragic past, looking all cool while doing it and it almost fools you into thinking that there is actually a good story lol. There are a lot of mysteries as well, and Li Qiye doesn't like to explain anything which also makes you wonder. If the novel was a bit less repetitive and paid more attention to character development, I would give it a 5. It isn't a Mao Ni novel, but it is still pretty fun to read. <<less

I don't understand how anyone can give this a rating higher than 3. This novel is quite literally mediocre. Only read if you're running out of novels to read or like overpowered MC's

You know a novel is getting boring when you find you have to start skipping through content as it is just the same thing said over and over for 1300 chapters. They is currently 1500+ chapters released and I can't bring myself to read anymore it's just to repetitive and as the character has no progression as he... more>> is already all powerful it makes for a very bland read.

The author is not very consistent on this time scale etc. Celebrating someone's 30, 000th birthday and he does something. " He hasn't done anything in millions of years" the novel is filled with this type of crap. It was a billion years ago blah blah. I honestly don't think the author even knows his own time scales and adds it for the hell of it.
Spoiler

From memory he was last the dark crow 30, 000 years ago. And someone who was celebrating they 8, 000th birthday later in the story and he apparently knows him from when he was the dark crow. This type of inconsistency is just annoying to me. It's the same thing when he uses the word generations with no clear time scale for it I assumed it 10, 000 years but its also super inconsistent throughout the story again

[collapse]

My biggest problem with this story is the author and it's story it's just lazy. Every Arc doesn't even feel that unique it just feels like every 2 arc he uses the same formula with different characters and new powers and people underestimating him then slaughtering them but the worst part is that it keeps getting used in the same arc because people don't believe it, and then they compare him to the younger geniuses despite the fact he just killed one of their ancestors. And its that every 20 chapters maybe less. I'm all for a good slaughter and fighting novel but really the authors style just kills it for me. <<less

Latest update.

ED has turned from 2/5 to 1/5 for me now. I'd give it 0/5, if possible.

If you do not know this yet, this novel simply exists just to make author money. You will experience repetition of plots, aimless adventure, and aimless killing.

... more>> The author will shamelessly copy-edit-paste dialogues. Expect same type of villains to appear every 100 chapters (and I honestly am not exaggerating). Same type of girls, who are thrown around like animals by MC. Same expression, dialogue, and vocabulary ("ants", "bang", "crank").

90% of the time, MC has one emotion, which is "smile lightly" or "smile faintly" or "sigh faintly". We never get to explore him more than just that. Villains and girl villains are all boiled down to 1) arrogant guys / girls, 2) submissive and shy girls, 3) Arrogant old dudes, 4) Submissive old dudes.

You may enjoy first 500 chapters, but after that it's on downhill.

Spoiler

At ch. 3300~, MC finally going to battle the big boss after he digressed from his main objective for long. In one chapter, MC got wiped out clean.... reborn 1 million years later and restart his cultivation over again. Basically, start from 0 as if 3300 never happens (all characters are gone, MC cultivation and preparation for the last 3300 chapters are gone).... What??

This is ultimately a faceslap by author on readers.

For so long, author has been making money out of ED. Then as ED is reaching the end of its life. He just reset it so he can continue making more money. That's enough to say it all.

I've seen some complaints about how there's no tension and no challenge and how sometimes it gets repetitive and...

Except that last complaint, I've got to say that all those complaints are sort of missing the point of what this story is about. This is a tale of a been there, done that, uber-cultivator who more or less, literally has all the best cheats engraved inside of his s*upid, c*cky head.

There isn't supposed to be any tension or challenge. There isn't supposed to be anyone who can seriously be a threat,... more>> at least not many of them. I'll accept, slash expect maybe just one, sometime near the end of the series, but that's it and if he or she never shows (who am I kidding this is a CN novel...)... If he never shows, then its cool. A Serious gritty plot that takes itself completely seriously, is not what "I" showed up for.

In that case this would be just another wuxia about some, so-called gary-stu, who is supposedly the greatest thing since sliced bread, but still has to spend his time scrambling to play catch up while stronger folks chase him to the ends of the earth and get to be arrogant while the MC slowly builds his strength.

There are tons of those stories already. What makes this one unique is that it actually delivers on the premise. LQ is an immortal super cultivator who's died come back and now is going around kicking ass and talking sh**, while he tries to see if any of his boys are still around and if they're still holding that stuff that he asked them to hold, a few million years ago. Simple.

It's sort of if pre-earth 2, dc's superman spent ninety-nine percent of the comics not holding back and not giving a f***. He'd win every time, with almost painful ease. But again that's part of the fun. Watching some dude flex his muscle and show up some fools who phenomenally still don't know what is what, after who knows how many hundreds of millions of years.

In my opinion the only problem with this story is that it sometimes gets old. Not stale necessarily, just old.

Which is sort of the package when it comes with these stories. Its more than a thousand chapters of the same plot and these Chinese authors generally don't mix it up a lot.

Its sort of why I kind of stopped reading anything with the words dragon or sword in the title for a while. It's why I don't watch dragon ball anymore. Eventually you'll burn yourself out. If you marathon this stuff and it doesn't jive and there's not enough side plot, you'll eventually find yourself coming down with groundhogs day syndrome.

"What? Huh? Another one? Seriously another person is picking a fight with this maniac? Why?"

or rather

"Didn't he kill you already? How are you here on a whole other world, sir? What do you mean that, that was a whole different guy?"

My advice is if you read it and you like it, only read it in batches of a hundred or so, maybe two hundred if you really like it. Break it up with something nuanced or suitably different from standard wuxia fare, or it'll start tasting like months old taffy, still sweet but hard to chew. <<less

There are no setbacks, no challenges, no hardship.

Just MC with his extreme arrogance who'd massacre entire clan and commit genocides just because someone looks at him wrong, and tons of one dimensional petty villains who exists just so MC can torture and kill them. In fact, most of the "conflict" are just caused by MC being completely insufferable. He can also defeat any challenges with plot armor (aka random stuff he buried millions of years ago) without ever breaking a sweat. I don't think there exists a MC more arrogant... more>> and more unnecessary ruthless than he is.

Character or plot growth are also nonexistent.

It's really just a shallow story of an all knowing being that bullies everyone to such an extreme length that makes me think the author suffers from a case of superiority complex of the highest degree. <<less

The thing that struck me the most with this novel is the protagonist. None of those shounen crap nor drama/emo phase from a young male lead growing up. MC is an ancient being, millions of years old, he has sent off countless loved ones, experienced numerous trying tribulations and has stood on various peaks of the worlds. He is weary now and on his last leg of his journey to kill to the ends of the world (its hinted at a lot but readers still don't know what it actually... more>> means), which is where the novel begins. Consequently, this is also where it differs the most from other Xuanhuan novels. Most novels focus on the start till the peak of the cultivation journey. ED on the other hand depicts what comes after reaching the peak and the final moments thereafter hence it has a totally alien concept and narration. No challenges and whatnot because "been there, done that eras ago". Now enough of the protagonist. What to expect? Repetitive. Won't deny, till 2300 chapters, you'll be seeing the same plot outline. Then again, which Xuanhuan isn't? Battles are of epic proportions, I might even say author overdid it just because MC literally overkills everything. Though technically it is justified seeing as how MC is a friggin ancient existence fighting against weaklings. The "cannon fodder "fight scenes are kinda mediocre, maybe even draggy or boring but "boss" battles deserves a resounding applause, pretty well narrated, it literally sucks you in. The entire cultivation system is also one to look forward to. It is different than most other novels where you'd have a unified progression. In ED, different worlds have various systems in place and each has their own mysteries and secrets, this includes techniques, cultivation, weapons & items, heavenly artefacts etc. The main attraction is how one's Grand Dao evolves, yes, that's right, evolution, very neat and interesting concept put out by the author. Only in ED can you find evolution synonymous with path of cultivation. MC is pretty much overpowered. As mentioned before, he is eras old. He has led & fought in several heaven shattering wars, slaughtered numerous other eternal existences, explored many mythical realms and horde numberless legendary items. There is no journey to growing up theme. Again, he is an ancient being! And he acts like one. Protagonist with a unique and realistic personality. He has multiple facets to his character, author did a great job on making a 3 dimensional character. To the common cultivator, he seems like a nobody. To competing opponents and enemies he seems like a rampant and arrogant youngster oblivious to the path of the Grand Dao. To his few surviving ancient subordinates, allies and friends, they see him as a strong leader and immensely powerful being, an unsung hero who had sheltered the worlds against the darkness. To his new allies and descendants of his subordinates, he is a mysterious individual, their beacon of hope and benefactor. To his "disciples" he is the grandfather figure who will guide and encourage you forward on the path of the Grand Dao but won't force you to be the best, he understands that they all have different paths and limits. To his lovers, he is a passionate man but ultimately fate does not allow him to pause his steps for them. To other ancient existences, he has a love hate relationship with them but they ultimately believe he has the best shot at surmounting the heavens and get an answer. He is ruthless but is disinclined to manage you if you know your limits. You'll have to read quite deep into the novel to see his many sides and its the highlight of the novel. Quite a number of flashbacks and history of his past. Lots of it scattered throughout the story. Not a fan of it but its different in ED. More often then not I'm dying to know more of MC's past but author intentionally held back quite a lot, good choice there as it'll be revealed to be connected to future plots. Foreshadowing and unseen plots. Expect tons of these. And you'll only manage to connect the dots like 500-1000 chapters later. Bad thing is if you're not patient enough to read far, you'd see them as plot holes. But once it hits you, everything makes sense and falls in place. I would say brilliant writing and good planning here though it is kinda opportunistic at times. Solid storyboard overall. That said, story doesn't amount to much in terms of plot twists and such. I highly recommend ED to any Xuanhuan readers. However, you'll need patience and perseverance throughout the entire novel, don't drop it ever or you'll be missing out a lot of the good stuff. Unlike ISSTH where you can just skip volumes to escape the boring chapters, in ED doing so means you'd be missing the clues and hints scattered throughout the novel. <<less

2/5

Started off extremely good then dropped off a cliff.
Read until MC heads towards Eastern Hundred Cities, story goes extremely downhill from there. (~250 chapters)

Pros:
1) MC has good reason for his arrogance/cunning (since he's lived through millions of years) & has plans after plans prepared & isn't relying on pills, treasures, etc that fall from heaven like most wuxia novel MCs. (Those treasures, pills, etc, are usually stuff he or his students left behind.)

2) MC actually has reasons for destroying sects unlike MCs in most wuxia novels,... more>> dude planned it all along.

Cons:
1) Author recycles the same scenario over and over and over again. Fights drag on like Dragon Ball Z but worse because of how s*upid the opponents are, how the author keeps saying how "amazing" the opponent is, just to have the opponent crushed in one sweep by the MC....... somehow people are also able to instantly recognize MC's super abilities/physique at a glance even though they were supposedly missing for thousands, if not millions of years,

2) The amount of padding in the story puts wonderbras to shame. Cultivation/abilities take up so much of each chapter so things progress painfully slowly.

3) MC's opponents all behave the same, it's like MC is fighting the same people over and over again with the same allies. Clearly they're all practicing some sort of heaven defying resurrection technique which only has the requirement that they change their name. /s

"Geniuses/ancestors" keep flaunting their power (acceptable the first few times, but after he heads into the Eastern Hundred City, Li Qiye's infamy is widespread enough that there's no reason people should've been acting like that towards him. Literally two disciples almost immediately find out about his exploits in the Middle Kingdom, which makes it extremely unbelievable that word didn't spread or that the older generation (s) didn't find out either before challenging him.

4) People act extremely out of character at times. For example, this is supposedly a world of crouching dragons, hidden tigers, yet virtually everyone is ignorant to the point of ret*rdation.

A few examples: MC & his entire sect is roaming along on a GIANT SNAIL, everyone laughs.... giant snail kills hundreds of them. Wtf, isn't common sense to be extremely suspicious of any weird thing that might be a hidden expert? Happens again when he's roaming along with a GIANT TALKING WORM..... people laugh, worm kills hundreds. Likewise, people laugh at MC, MC kicks their arse. <<less

To begin with I enjoyed this novel, the premise was interesting, the characterization of side characters made them actual people and it was something somewhat different from the usual xianxia. Unfortunately as is the way with too many stories within this genre it fell apart as the story progressed.

It suffers from many of the common cliches in this genre such as repetitive story plots, word filler, cardboard cut-out/idiotic villains (whose name changes but the person itself is basically the same), other cultivators constantly sneering at the MC and... more>> saying he is a fool despite him having done the impossible multiple times, a sort of harem thing going on, once again repetition... and the worst is the mc's arrogance, don't get me wrong I enjoyed it at first however it went from the MC refusing to be bullied or tr*sh talked and answering force used against him unjustly with overwhelming force to tr*sh talking everyone else he meets, no respect no acknowledgement. Most of the fights he gets into are from him being a d*ck with cardboard cut-out villains responding accordingly.

Once more I find myself disappointed with a translation. It's the gems like ISSTH that makes it all worth it. Emperors domination however is another in a long list of disappointments. <<less

A rather interesting take in a super OP MC. He literally can do anything and kill anyone he wants. Similar to TDG but vastly more overpowered MC. The main difference is that despite how OP the MC of other CN's are, you still get this feeling of dread or threat that the MC feels. Fights that lead the MC to "struggled" to win. But not this MC. He doesn't struggle. We wins.

The action is fairly good, the romance is basically non-existent. He only gets girls to be part of his... more>> team and not a harem. (Unless future untranslated chapters consist of much harem)

All in all, I enjoyed this OP setup because of the world building and story. A resounding 5 stars for me. <<less

This is some seriously OP MC. The MC is strong from the start even though his cultivation level is not that high. That's because he gets various items whose existence and power are known only to him.

His knowledge and previous life is an extremely important factor and can even be said to be the focus of the novel.

Too much fillers!

Title, 20% content, another 80% emotions, tr*sh talks, s*upid questions with s*upid answers, reactions of surprise, tons of explanations and descriptions. Tons of introductions for side characters, who died in one move. I don't care how great they are, so why do I have to read 20 chapters about those brainless kids? Especially when they can't even touch MC...

Honestly, this 150 chapters is like 15 normal chapters. Whole plot is hiding behind these fillers, so much unnecessary stuff, that you can easily forget the reason of this actions.

Boring... more>> 2-3 stars story.

And yes, he is already a "god after few weeks". Only immortal emperor - the highest existence can hurt him. <<less

I once had a long review about everything I loved about this story, but the author has seen fit to trample all of that for endless filler. Having reread a lot of it, I've only come to notice the way that a lot of arcs I thought were better than they were are buried under dozens of chapters of a single conversation stretched between them all. The characters are nonsensical beyond reason, barely paying attention to common sense, all for the sake of dragging the story out by antagonizing our... more>> main character, and spending 30 chapters talking to do it, all the while it's been 5000 chapters and we don't even know the most basic answers to the mysteries that have been brought up. Sure they get answered sometimes thousands of chapters later, but reading this all in one sitting makes this completely unforgivable when you're reading the names of thousands of characters who will disappear before the arc is even over, all rife with ban*l backstories and childish political squabbling.

This is possibly the most insulting filler I've ever seen in fictional history. It is an honest to God achievement of the worst way to ruin a story and insult your fanbase. I heard that the authors name is something about hating pens, and thanks to the way he's ruined this story, I hope to God he spends the rest of his life writing this story and only dies when he's tied up every loose end and gotten more familiar with pens than any human being should be. The translators for this story are perhaps the only reason it's worth reading, these guys are saints among human beings for sticking with this for so long. Even monetary reimburs**ent is not enough for what these people have been put through, they 100% deserve every single thanks comment under every chapter. The things I love about this novel are still there, but this braindead filler means that it will never be anything but tr*sh even worse than Martial God Asura, because at least that story will get to the point within a few hundred chapters instead of contradicting the lore and character of everyone in the series to earn some more yuan. I said earlier I hope the author gets more familiar with pens than any human being should be, but over the course of writing this, my hatred at the sight of such a cool story being ruined that I genuinely don't care. Don't read this story until it's finished, don't even waste your time taking it seriously, just take whatever you like from it, and visit the wiki for the annotations of all the important things. You're not going to get anything of worth from the vague mysterious pointless conflict scripture. <<less

I hate this novel. I should have known that the rating is reliable, but I was still "deceived" by some four to five star reveiws.

This MC is tr*sh, his arrogance is not likeable. When I read a review saying this, I didn't pay any heed either since I thought that I liked arrogant protagonists. BUT this MC is not that kind of arrogant, his arrogance is disgusting, nonsensical and unbefetting of someone who is old and experienced. In fact, his arrogance reminds me of those 13 year old bragging to... more>> each other. It doesn't make you go wow, this MC is brave, but more like what a boring fool. I don't understand how nobody suspected him of anything since he doesn't bother even hiding things, even that excuse of the patriarch appearing in the dream seems too sketchy.

Now, let's talk about the characters, wow. Just wow. They seem to be so one-dimensional that they appear like plain plot devices. Just did you see how the supposed female cultivators act in the novel, even modern high school girls have more self control. Also, they just make it as if every man in the story has nothing to do but to grovel in front of girls, even calling them "goddess".

Talking about girls, this is what makes this MC the most disgusting for me. When you start reading the story and how the "plot devices" aka characters are being used, you will understand why it's a problem. That nine demon gate fiancée, every man who saw her no matter how formidable starts to all her "goddess" and flirt with her as if there was no man with common sense, it was just used to boost the mc's ego many times.

What I hated the most, in fact, was the story about how he manipulated the emperor min ren (who was like his child) physique's to make him sleep with the woman he prefered for him. The emperor min ren loved one woman and he was always loyal to her in his heart, he refused the woman the MC tried to force on him to make her empress, he also refused the mc's disgusting ideas about how an emperor can have "three wives and four concubines". The MC then used the opportunity when he (emperor min ren) was unconscious and forced him to sleep with her, basically raping him. When the emperor woke up, he nearly broke his relationship with the MC because of this matter. Now at the current era, the MC even dared to lie to the sect and tell them that that woman was the empress and thus the descendants (from the r*pe basically) were acknowledged and gained even more legitimacy since they are from the "empress". <<less

The story probably goes on about 2000 chapters too long, The first 1000-1500 chapters are interesting enough, or at least when I read them.

The one part that this story had going for it was that it was about a character who shows up at points in history, not known by the masses, only really known to the people at the peak of the world. The author excelled in building intrigue into the past of the MC, and it carried for the 10 worlds major arc.

Later on the author basically ruined... more>> everything that was going for the story by moving the MC into a place where he never visited before. This leaves a MC that is not having character progression into a new place that he has not been before, where we could possibly see him interacting with things that he doesnt understand. The problem is that instead he still somehow knows all the mysteries of all the places, not due to him exploring the place or being present when the major event happened. Instead its because hes a heaven defying MC and nothing can stop him.

The combat is repetitive and lacks tension. Nothing is able to harm the MC and he still fights all the minor people along the way wasting his and our time. The crowd always does the same gossiping and shuddering and dispares at the strength of the MC. The moves always become perfect, and then their ancestor comes with a move that is somehow more perfect than perfect, but the MC has a move that has overwhelming strength and technique win with.

The character development is non-existent for the MC and the only purpose the side characters serve is to show how strong the MC is.

No romance really, only a small hint in earlier chapters, long gone by now. MC sees all the beauties says whatever, and then randomly r*pes one after 2500 chapters of not caring about women.

Yea ill probably come back in 2 years and read the last 100 chapters if it ever gets finished <<less

All I can say is that if you dont like pu*sy MCs, this is the way to go. Absolute badass. Those who dont understand how and why the MC is so arrogant and powerful, just havent read more, as most of his past and amazing deeds and power comes in amazing and vague small amounts. You always want to know more about his past.

It has it's flaws, it gets repetitive some times, but it's the most consistent novel I have read so far and its one that the more you... more>> read it, the more you like it, unless sooo many other novels of the same genre out there! <<less

First time doing a review, so bare with me, also, english is not my first language.

The story is not perfect, so I will start with the cons, because it's needed to understand some of the pros:

    • The main character is super arrogant and because of this, the arks take a lot longer, meaning the villain of the ark is alive a lot longer than necessary
    • The arrogant young master antagonist cliche is repeated non stop
    • There a many filler chapters
    • The cultivation levels are super complicated (at least for me)
    • The secondary characters are developed to a point and then moves to new characters, which is frustrating, because I'd like to see the older ones interact with newer ones more
Now you might be saying "why give it a 5*?", so here are the pros and explanation to some of the cons (again in my opinion) :

    • The main protagonist was an immortal existence, which protected humanity, fought against pretty much the strongest existices and trained super strong people, so I kind of understand, why he ignores the villains
    • Badass mc
    • He is building an army (or at least allies), which means he needs to visit many worlds and can't take everyone along
    • The overall story is very interesting and original in some way
    • At some point the cultivation level doesn't matter any more, if you focus on the story (meaning the MC is op)
In conclusion, if you can get past the filler chapters and the arrogant protagonist, you will see a story in which an immortal existance, start agains with a mortal body to enact a plan developed for hunderds of thousand years, which is unraveld bit by bit. I said original story because it has a flavor of resurrection story without being one and op MC, that you can understand and believe is op because of what he's done and not some plot armor bs. Of course, there are many cliches, but still I think its something different from the rest.

I can't wait to see where the story progresses.

hmmm....

after reading up to the latest 3000+ chap, this is what I can say about this novel

first thing I want to say--->unlike other novels where the cultivation levels is so complicated that you need a cheat sheet, in ED you DON'T need to MEMORIZE cultivation levels, the MC can kill anyone, always remember that.

The MC is badass and is never defeated in any chapters. The PLOT is also good... I have read up until 3000 chapters and see what the author is talking about in the earlier chapters (final battle)... more>> so its quite CONSISTENT. The world is also quite big and UNLIKE other novels where there is heaven realm or upper realm bullsH*t, The MC is just travelling worlds with a different cultivation pattern. the AUTHOR, even though he is quite repetitive with his "MC bullying young masters and annihilating sects" stuff, is perfect at DESCRIBING things so it's not quite boring to read despite being REPETITIVE.

My only grief in this story is that some introduced characters which I think has potential is forgotten by the author.
Spoiler

Also, the author should have ended the story after the MC allahu-akbared those dark giants in the world of darkness and make emperors domination 2 haha (thats what I think is perfect, dont know what the others think). And some characters didn't even show like Min Ren, Hong Tian, and Jiao Heng.

[collapse]

overall, I can say that this is better than MGA, TDG, ATG (I have also read those novels and I can say that ED is better)

to those who like ed, I can suggest reading - solo leveling, scholar's reincarnation

novels to avoid - > talisman emperor (boring as hell), invincible (plotless) <<less

Tried to give it a chance but... the writing is just ridiculous. This is the first novel to give me a fcking headache. There's so much useless sht the author puts in that it feels like you're reading an essay per chapter. You barely remember half of the things mentioned and I dont know if it's just me but its hard to visualize what the fck is going on in this novel especially the fight scenes. Oh yea.. and the MC is op and arrogant so if you hate these... more>> kinds of MCs then stay away although for me his arrogance was tolerable. Lastly here's a tip: google the wiki site for this novel and open it while you're reading because half of the time you won't know what the hell is going on and will forget a shtload of things you thought was irrelevant...... Still don't know how this got a 4.1. <<less

This is a novel that isn't for everyone. Emperor's Domination is pretty much an epic cultivation story. Nothing more and nothing less. It has its pros and it has its cons. I enjoy reading it to pass the time and it's been a really good binge. If you're interested in reading it here are the pros and the cons.

Pros:

  • Massive world with quality world building. The world (or worlds) is large and beautiful. Ancient and profound mysteries are explored or kept a secret on the MC's journey to the top. There are unique monsters and races (ex: A race that is comprised of just Ghosts, talking earthworms, etc) along with unique rituals that leave one puzzled. Of course, the novel does offer an explanation for most of these things.
  • Great main character. Li Qiye is someone with way too much hubris. It is understandable hubris though, being an ancient expert that is over tens of millions years old, capable of grooming peak talents. He does have flaws though that I will list in the cons but as for pros, he is ruthless (something common in Chinese MCs) and calculating. Some of his schemes are extremely clever and his actions are never without thought. Sometimes he slips up but that's what keeps it entertaining. Unlike other ruthless MCs, Li Qiye enjoys teasing others constantly and he isn't affected by greed. He is constantly motivated and even his background and past is profound.
  • Constantly moving story. The pacing of the story is just right. It has pretty epic battle scenes and smooth transitions from each arc.
  • Character variation. There are a lot of different people that Li Qiye meets along his journey. Some of them stay, some of them don't, and the rest of them die. The characters do give the story a bit more life as they add humor and play off of Li Qiye's personality pretty well.
  • Li Qiye's past could have been a separate novel. I've always been interested in the past immortals that Li Qiye have taught and raised. The fact that he taught them as a crow is hysterical to me but that also brings up the fact that he created unbreakable bonds as a small crow and raised the world's greatest experts. I would have liked to see more of his journey from scared, poor s*ave boy to a proud, immortal crow capable of overturning the heavens.
Cons:

  • Repetitive and Cliche. It's basically the same formula as other cultivation stories with a few unique twists. However, it does it mind numbingly repetitive with {Someone offends Li Qiye-> He offends them back -> They underestimate him -> They die and everyone else is surprised at Li Qiye's strength}. It does become self aware of this aspect though but that is later on in the novel. Too late for some people.
  • Li Qiye can be aggravatingly arrogant. His arrogance is understandable but sometimes he could have avoid unnecessary conflict by just explaining some things. He can still keep his arrogance even when explaining but sometimes he doesn't feel like talking or feels that the other person doesn't deserve knowledge and it gets irritating.
  • Harem. I'm not a fan of the harem genre, even when there is little to no romance in Emperor's Domination. Every beauty just becomes his maid that he grooms to become experts. The girls do have variation in their personalities though which is nice but the fact that he's just collecting all of these beauties out of nowhere is bothersome. Mainly because it leads to my next point.
  • The author's need to describe how beautiful a woman is. He literally describes every part of the woman's body as some sort of mystical treasure and blah blah blah. It gets repetitive and annoying. We get it, she's hot. Who cares.
Overall, give the novel a read and see if you like the first couple of chapters. It's a really good novel to binge read. Just some mindless entertainment imo but higher standard quality than some of the other stuff around. Of course, it's not on the same... more>> level as something like ISSTH but it fills in the gap that Meng Hao left : ( <<less
