This story just has too much talk about nothing.

90% of this novel is talking about nobles and their plots 5% is land management and the last 5% is average action.

Cloak and dagger? Umm mostly just some idiot plots something and the MC doesn't have to do anything because the other guy ends up self destructing spectacularly that causes more trouble to the MC than the actual assassination or political maneuver.

Gaining strength through struggle? If you call getting taught a bunch of magic from a dead mage and also having a... more>> massive mana pool a struggle then you need your head checked.

OP MC? Wouldn't know because more than half the time he just has to sit back or cast one spell on one opponent and really has not had a human opponent that chose to fight him physically.

Money? It just gets handed to him so he has no money problems and doesn't have anything to spend it on.

Harem? He got one for free as a noble and every noble even pushes their daughters on him. Something about the duty of being a noble is to have a ton of kids then later have a headache of what to do with them when they grow up. I got the impression really fast the only purpose of a woman in that kingdom is to warm the bed.

Monsters? The world has them but the type he has encounters can be counted on one hand since he is too busy talking for chapters on end about noble politics that are so pointless that it is like listening to the same political lecture over and over again. <<less

This is the only Japanese novel I've ever read that gets it correct when it comes to western Europe style nobility. It might seem strange in a story involving magic and wizards, but this is extremely realistic and the writer has obviously done their research.
Unlike the manga or anime, this is not a power fantasy. If anything, the story is about how much it sucks to become a noble. After the incident with the dragon, the MC's life takes a dreadful downward spiral as he has nobility and various ties foisted upon him by the king. There is a certain brilliance in the narration that I think a lot of reviewers have lost; the MC considers what he receives an unbelievable boon, but volumes later realizes how horribly manipulated he was. He gets his entire life tied down by arranged marriages and other noble ties and doesn't even realize it until it's far too late to do anything about it.
That last part, I think, is really brilliant. Others charge the MC as being passive or "beta" (whatever that means). But there's actually very little he can reasonably do about this. The story doesn't take place in an RPG mechanics verse. Though he has very powerful and useful offensive magic, the MC is ultimately just a human with all the normal weaknesses of a human. He doesn't have level 99 defenses. It would not be difficult to have him killed, if it came down to it. So there's nothing he can do but accept his lot in life. At least he can feel better about it by being quite wealthy and married to several beautiful women who, despite the arranged nature of all but two of them, do truly love him.
The realism in this series is so strong that it's difficult to read, which is why I gave it four stars... more>> and stopped reading it. There's intense discrimination against women and homosexuality, which the author doesn't treat as a good thing, but rather is taken as a natural part of the medieval lifestyle. The burdens of the nobility are immense for the MC to a degree that a modern reader would find very disconcerting. For example: the intense pressure to produce an heir with his wives immediately after marriage. There's nothing sexy or titillating about it. If anything, it's just sad and upsetting.

Read this if you're looking for a realistic look at what life would be like for a naive transplant who suddenly stands out for remarkable talent. Don't read if you're looking for a power fantasy or happy harem fantasy, because you'll be extremely disappointed. He'd be way happier if the encounter with the dragon never happened and he spent out his life with Ina and Luise, never again interacting with a noble beyond the margrave.

This is a read for the sages that will astound those of all ages.

Have you ever wondered, what an isekai story would look like if the author skipped the feigned pretentious nature of strife straight to the platitude? Well look no further here you find an isekai story that hardly has any merit. This is a story about an MC that stood still in one place cl**ked his heels twice and the heavens opened up to sh*t money, women and power on him simply "because", no other reasons really need... more>> be given. A story that shows you can outshine everyone else with no merit or feasibility to speak of, only the overbearing favoritism of an author.

Jokes aside yeah this is sh*t nothing noteworthy about this at all skip it, drop it avoid it if you can. <<less

okay, as far I could see and this is a poor written story. It is so long and the subject of this story is all about politics and feudal dispute that make the story none sense. why ? the simple answer is the MC were just become a certain government politician in a certain kingdom which himself has nothing to do with it. Oh, the matter he could use magic is due to the author on following the trend of common novels where every MC were able to use... more>> magic but it was not used for going of exploring the fantasy world instead for government building projects.

Politics, Feudal dispute, Greedy Noble, Betrayal.... and Corruption. The MC just become an subject of dirty noble influence. what a long chapters and a waste of time which the MC have no ambition/objective at all. The worst part he just become the current king underling.

So, I suggest do not waste your time reading this. it just politics and feudal scheme story. No adventure at all. <<less

Very bad. Author keep on reminding reader of what just happen even though it just one click away. The wording is bad with alot of unnecessary information makes you unable to focus on it. The story progress is slow but sometime it's a plus, but not like this. All in all, a very hard to read novel if you have short attention span like me

Politics

That tag is sandwiched in between OP Protagonist and Polygamy, but it might as well be the only tag.

The author discusses politics at every chance. Lesson on magic, btw here's how that pertains to politics. Oh, need to buy a wedding gift, actually, that's very politically important for some reason. Pre-teens at an adventurer school, you'd think they would talk about swords and magic, but they'd rather talk about political theory that should be way above their head. The characters will be in the middle of a conversation on... more>> a completely unrelated subject, but the author will randomly throw in a whole page-worth of political commentary between the lines of dialogue, to the point that all dialogue is pretty much unreadable.

The story itself isn't really all that bad, but you would have to be a complete political nut in order to enjoy it. Even then, the politics aren't really all that complicated or interesting. But I guess if that's your cup of tea, then it might be appropriate to give this 3 stars. <<less

If you ever dreamed to follow the sick imagination of an otaku's wet dream (besides the otaku bible Death March) search no further. Do you want a story that you get to talk about little girls "upper parts'" and training your perfect bland/s*ave waifu (you could probably ask her to do anything in a kamasutra book and she will or even partake into "nighttime activities" with several gentlemen such as 30 people), and side cough* "easy women" plus money, you have come to the right place. Everything is just given... more>> nothing is earned. You don't feel attached to nothing in the story because of that. There is no real tension everything just feel artificial from the world to the character interactions. Drop it, drop it like your life depends on it~~~. This was clearly written by a man-child/sociopath that has never had a real interaction with a living being~~~.

Probably getting an anime in the future too, because Japanese businessmen don't give a quite "easy" (as in they lack any integrity but don't we all). <<less

The story is as average as the translation of the first translator, prepare for a headache while reading.. The next filler read.

I have to say, dear authors of novels, at least give your characters a little comprehensible human behaviour. He takes over the mind of a six year old child, there is no inner conflict about the situation?! It's just okay for him without feeling anything.. The hell? Furthermore, the MC awakes in an unfamiliar room with strangers, which are possible family members. What does he say shortly after? "Let's... more>> just sleep for now.", who could sleep in such a situation? In all honesty, one of the worst introductions.

It was enjoyable at first but got too boring halfway. The author put too much details and information and yes that's a good thing but he keeps repeating it over and over again. Even if the problem is mentioned and explained in the previous chapter it will again be explained on the next chapter which is really annoying.

Well if you're a detail and information enthusiast then maybe you'd love this.

Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou! So far seems to be a combination of both adventuring and navigating through diplomatic relationships with nobles and royals. There is a breif period of time spent on his immediate post-reincarnation self (6ish years old) but it seems to jump rather quickly into his young teens so the flow is a little strange.

If you don’t like stories where only 1/1000 people are both with ’talent’ which can immediately place them above normal people, this might not be for you. While... more>> the main character does practice hard, the combination of being born with the right talent and stumbling upon a mentor result in a child who is very strong even at a young age. The diplomatic relationships with important figures in the capital stem from this as people then desire to rope him in.

No issues with the writing/translation quality, although the updates are a little slow. <<less

Terrible. Truly, truly terrible.

Mono-tone incarnate. Blander than lukewarm water.

Not sure if this novel was translated or directly written by a non-native English speaker. Regardless, their grammar is terrible, the structures of some sentences are literally like listening to children, or someone actively trying to imitate a Cave man. Seriously terrible. Terrible beyond belief.

... more>> Imagine a personality that's pure utterly apathetically mono-tone. That's this author.

Author: I am writing, I am writing an Isekai, so here is a man from Japan, he is a salary man who worked for a medium to small sized company. His job is non descript

Author: The people of the new world speak Japanese, it is a medieval western society. There are adventurers, magic is rare. There aren't any special powers or skills the adventurers use. They just learn to sword fight and some times a person can use some magic.

Author: My novel has the OP tag, so I need to give my character power. So he does, he has magic. He did some stuff and now he can cast spells. Oh and I added the Master tag, so here is a dead man to teach him, and he has a way to transfer all of his stored magic to the character so he can become very powerful faster.

Author: I think I need to expand my world some more. So here is a forest. It is called the forest of monsters. There are monsters. Oh, and the monsters never leave it for any reason. Some people tried to invade it, but they all died. The monsters still didn't leave however. There are a lot of resources, so people want to enter the area.

Author: The character went to the forest of monsters. He used a spell to find all of its resources. He now has tuns of bars of all kinds of metals. And also his master left him with all the money of a duchy I guess.. So he's rich now.

Author: My character needs to go through some hard times. So everyone in his home town will be seen as a threat by him. The reason he doesn't use his power, or money, or modern knowledge is because he is just a child now, and isn't able to have conversations with anyone. Also I really don't like writing dialogue.

Back to myself, kalem now.

If you thought for even a moment during that little window into the authors process that maybe I missed something, or maybe there was some actual nuance or hidden meanings for why he did anything. No. What I just wrote was literally the authors entire thought process with 100% accuracy. If you read the first 20 chapters you will understand perfectly everything the author thought while writing. And it's terrible. Truly, truly terrible.

The writer also never developed mentally beyond a 3 year old. He, like many, MANY other Isekai novel writers, will sometimes write things like "Ah, did they find out that I am a reincarnated individual?" Even though the person in question didn't grow up with the MC, and the MC never told anyone. Seriously. How hard is it to understand that unless you verbalise a thought, speak it out loud into the air, using your lungs and your f*cking mouth. To create audible noise.

NO ONE f*ckING KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE THINKING.

AND NO ONE f*ckING KNOWS sh*t YOU'VE NEVER SAID. Even when faced with the idea of Mind reading. The MC never consciously thinks about their Otherworlder status like 99% of the time when conversing with people, so even if mind-reading magic existed, there still is never even a moment when it could have caught that. And also if you've dug your grave so f*cking deep that you need to worry about mind-reading magic. Being an Otherworlder is the least of your f*cking problems. <<less

All of the usual problems of a Japanese LN, plus boring info dumps and a poor grasp of the historical period he's trying to imitate. However, it is nice to see the effort put into politics and bureaucracy. A lot of these types of stories go straight into the MC becoming stronger than anybody and ignore the intricacies of their fantasy world. Still, this is a boring story with a lot of plot holes and poor writing. I enjoy it but I wouldn't recommend it.

all that prev chapters summary kill the mood to read, author keeps repeating same info over and over like writing an essay. There’s so many explanation or MC thought that has no impact to the story, not important at all, full of filler.

In the story I dont feel the MC is “reincarnated” at all, just a genius MC in medieval fiction.

lack of emotion, cold hearted world and full of politics.

it’s quite interesting at first tho.

This novel for me is the most real novel of "isekai" for several reasons

First, the heroines, to my point of view clearly they are not madly in love with the MC, they mainly seek a partner to live well they did not care if it were another if it allowed them to achieve their goals.

Spoiler

Elize was looking for a noble who looks up, Loise and Ina looking for a husband who has money, Wilma eats, and Katharine the nobility.

[collapse]

Second, the nobles and the relations with the MC, the nobles do not try to establish connections with the MC because they like it but for it will bring them money, they use the MC and he knows it and does not care

Spoiler

then the MC f*cks all the nobles with all the connections he has, he says: do what I want and I give you something afterwards if it happens or I go to another one and you already manage yourself

[collapse]

The king is the most real among many novels, he does not benefit the MC because he says I like you, it benefits him because if the MC leaves the kingdom and the other empire recruits him and attacks the kingdom they are f*cked, the MC can only destroy one city alone, has money and is a kind of magician rarely seen and with unlimited potential

Third, the MC, fails in many respects therefore this novel is not so good and monopolizes too much the content of the novel, this novel is 100% wend monologue

Spoiler

But the bastard kills his brother and f*cks his wife. Where has this been seen?

[collapse]

His actions seem real enough to a feudal noble but not one who has a modern common sense and has incongruities as
Spoiler

it does not matter to him to kill 100 soldiers but can not see an execution

[collapse]

There is no progress in the secondary characters except erw...... a bit.

The novel seems good to me but it will not be the number 1 <<less

A below average harem story, it would have been fine if the characters were remotely human in any way. But they are not. The world itself turned apocalyptic where nobles run into monster domains by the thousands and get annihilated only for the MC to liberate it with his merryman sometime later. Humans learn from mistakes they do not commit mass su*cide every year only so some protagonist could use holy magic on them. The magic are also made sloppily.

Spoiler

he gets send to tasks that causes him and his party to nearly die and then they get money and they forget everything. Two dragons incl. The undead.

A ruin with 2 robot dragon.

After that he gets his home territory pushed onto him which he must devolop with his own money. He just leaves everything to the weird super swing spear guy who hires him to do everything, he gets paid out of his own pocket and then the engineering guild and adventure guild swallow a part even though they did nothing. Including taxes he loses 3 parts of his own money for no reason at all but doing jobs for himself. Over 100% of his expenditures are wasted on s*upid stuff like this, yes more than 100%. Only reason people would even acknowledge such a person would be for his shortlived fortune. Unless he finds a rampaging dragon every other year.
Magic is gamelike and makes no sense.

An idiot unable to make or manage anything despite having a "good head lmao" aka god of destruction that bows to everyone and anything with a title or any level of influence and females.

Good plot, good story, but bad writing and tr*sh characters. Would be a 3 or even 4 star if only protagonist was a little less s*upid.

Heavy on the politicising. Even at the early stages it seems like more than 3 quarters of each chapter is dedicated to how the MC tiptoes around his own family, and the people around him, the reason why he tiptoes and the ramification.

One good example would be his first major fight early in the twenties. The fight itself lasted no longer than 3 PARAGRAPHS. The ramification, mere discussion and theorisation on what MIGHT happen now that he has done this big service on the other hand, filled a good chunk... more>> of the next 8 CHAPTERS. And it all boiled down to (ignore until you're older).

It does not help that the main character is depressingly timid and amazingly passive (a given for a jap MC I suppose. I'm not even sure why I'm surprised) and takes the chance to avoid any rewards or recognition if at all possible.

This timidity and passiveness (I'm not sure if I can qualify this as naivete. Sometimes he KNOWS what he's getting his ass into, sometimes he gets outmanuevered due to some obscure political rules) even extends itself into his love life. Somehow, getting women forced onto him, due to his own words, is a perfectly acceptable situation.

Voila, another chain or "responsibility" linking him up with someone else. I'm not expecting Chinese MC level domineering or arrogance but there should be a goddamn limit on how much of a beta someone can be right? Do you not have any blasted pride?

The story had potential to be good, but after 50 over chapters of going round and round and round and discussing what feels like the most trivial circumstances to death, even if the author doesn't regret it, I regret all the wasted potential. <<less

Love it! Though it is not for those who want an easy to read 'op MC, action, harem' story. I'm a guy who likes to play Total War and CK II, and loves to read history about nobles, wars/ feuds, political intrigue etc. which is this novel's forte I guess. Though the author repeats quite so often and the MC may sound a bit too japanophilic / "rice is best". I still think this is an unique and great story focusing more on nobles, intrigues and management. Beware of information... more>> dumping though... <<less

Mm the MC is by no means a bad ass, nor intelligent, nor anything. The MC is just a puppet in the story written by the author, has this awesome magic and can do whatever he wants but I wouldn't say is timid? He just says "I was a mediocre man in my past life, so I dont know about shit" and doesnt try to improve himself and just lets himself get carried by the nobles and their plots. If you are looking for an interesting novel of politics, kingdom... more>> building, smart MC etc, this novel is NOT for you. <<less
