Traversing into another world, Zhang Xuan finds himself becoming an honorable teacher.

Along with his transcension, a mysterious library appears in his mind.

As long as it is something he has seen, regardless of whether it is a human or an object, a book on its weaknesses will be automatically compiled in the library.

Thus, he becomes formidable.

“Emperor Zhuoyang, why do you detest wearing your underwear so much? As an emperor, can’t you pay a little more attention to your image?”

“Fairy Linglong, you can always look for me if you find yourself unable to sleep at night. I am skilled in lullabies!”

“And you, Demon Lord Qiankun! Can you cut down on the garlic? Are you trying to kill me with that stench?”

This is an incredible story about teachers and students, grooming and guiding the greatest experts in the world!

I constantly check for updates and I keep up to date with the newest chapter. The only drawback I found in this CN is that there is a lack of true difficulty for the MC to get past and grow from and everything done by the MC is oh so amazing that there is no suprise when the MC takes action or does something that brings a crowd to look at him with either jealousy or admiration. Otherwise it had lots of face-smacking and, in my opinion, quite humorous with... more>> its content overall. I would recommend for people to give this novel a try as long as you like reincarnations/transported to another world tags/genres. <<less

A lot of negative reviews but don't get put off from this novel. It has a strong beginning and a very interesting storyline. A lot of chapters can drag on a lot which I usually binge read. But I did laugh at a few bits especially around chapter 165. Only flaw is that you can see the repetitiveness but if you can get passed that and enjoy the story then it's worth a read.

A librarian transmigrates into the cultivation world into the body of a failure of a teacher and is given a cheap ass "library" that lets him instantly analyze, compile, and perfect everything (it's pretty much like the A.I. chip of Warlock of the Magus World, but even cheaper).

There doesn't seem to be any real plot/goal so far besides wanting to become a master teacher, by guiding his students on the path of cultivation.

Spoiler

Later on you find out that he's born with this super poison that requires him to cultivate to a high rank to dispel. It's assumed that he has a pretty big background with a powerful enemy later on, since the poison that he's afflicted with can only be used by a high ranking poison master

[collapse]

Overall, it's a pretty enjoyable read, but there are a few things that may turn you away from this novel:

  • Comedy: I just want to say that this novel focuses quite a bit on the comedy aspect and that the comedy may not be for everyone, especially if you want a novel with a more serious atmosphere.
    • The comedy seems to mainly revolve around being extremely vague when explaining things and word choice. Basically, the MC tends to use words that can be easily misconstrued as something else (especially in the situation that he uses it), while also being extreme vague in his explanation, which leads to a lot of misunderstandings
    • There are also a lot of cases when he picks on a person's personal flaws to create "comedy"
      • e.g. there's this pill debate scene, where instead of critiquing pill refining methods, the MC keeps picking on the alchemists' personal life (one of the alchemist was agitated after killing a concubine that morning, because she was banging one of the guards)
    • Ridiculous methods for helping people break make a breakthrough
      • e.g. kicking someone in the groin to release more yang energy or sealing someone's cultivation and beating him with wooden sticks to evoke anger in order to force a breakthrough
  • Main character: He seems to be cunning and intelligent at times, but he keeps having these moments, where he acts like a bumbling fool (I assume it's suppose to be comedy, but the contradicting personalities, just makes it a bit confusing). The author also likes to keep emphasizing that he's a transmigrator from the modern era, despite having rock bottom social skills amongst other things a person from the modern era should be aware of.
  • The situations that the MC becomes involved in is quite repetitive, as with most CN novels. After a little bit of reading, you'll start to notice a pattern for the events that will happen.
  • The MC doesn't make good use of his abilities. The MC pretty much dirt poor 90% of the time when he has abilities that can allow him to never run out of money. He can literally create paintings worth a fortune in mere minutes, but for some reason he never does...
  • The abilities that he can master is inconsistent. Sure he has an OP thing that can grant him theoretical knowledge on anything that he see or touches, but that doesn't mean he'll actually be able to perform those actions. He's somehow able to become a master painter from reading some books, yet he's somehow unable to do the same when it comes to apothecary.
  • Brainlessly arrogant and forgettable side characters that act aggressively towards the MC straight off the bat, just because the way he does things is a bit unconventional. They feel that they're being look down upon and become offended extremely quickly.

The only repetitive part is that how people doubt him. That's all the story is very interesting and quit enjoyable to read and addicting.

People easily misunderstood him, doubt him and show their displeasure but at least they show it and you can feel it directly..

While the people in this earth can back stabbed you and very expert on lying and acting as if he she likes you but in fact not

A fun light read with a steady storyline (no high, no low just a sure and steady pace to keep you interested and reading through it without you noticing you caught up already!)

This is a perfect novel to read after one with a very complicated and tiring plot. Sometimes you just need to read one with a steady pace.

They have the typical bad guys who just wants to make trouble for the MC again and again despite continuous losses and inevitable shame.

A guilty pleasure of mine is to read... more>> about transmigrants using their cheat effectively and this novel sates it well.

It's like he has a Wikipedia in his head that instantly stores info from books and he instantly memorizes and comprehends the information. He can also decipher and give the weaknesses of almost anything he touches/sees. Who wouldn't want a search option inside your brain to look for any info, book you flipped through?

No romance, no harem, no complicated storyline, which is a plus. Just his daily adventures roaming around taking advantage of the library in his head cheat in order to help his students. <<less

"I went and mtl it" is probably the highest curse praise I can give to this story. The story is meant for light hearted fun read. Nothing taxing.

The main reason I love this story is because that OP system of his. It's my dream superpower. Absorbing knowledge just from touching a book (lazyass in da house) ! Plus, I love how revered teachers are in his world, especially Master Teachers. His escapades just gets grander in later chapters, and the world view gets broader. Can't wait for translations to catch... more>> up to there. <<less

A very fun story so far. The story seems to have a lot of humor so far and the MC is very relatable, which to me is one of the most important things when I look for a novel to read.

I'm also a huge fan of having a MC who's actually a teacher, rather than a student.

When I first started reading I immediately fell in love with the novel in the first chapter, when after the MC (who was a librarian in his past life) had just finished bullsh*tting a... more>> girl to get her to become his student, he found out that his "gift pack for transcenders" is a library, which causes him to complain that he didn't get some OP weapon or a a ring with some old grandfather in it instead. He only ends up getting even angrier when he realizes that he can't actually pick up any of the books, which I thought was hilarious.

Of course he calms down when he realizes that the library will automatically compile a book on the faults and weaknesses of any object he touches and any person he sees performing some kind of martial arts technique.

He also later realizes that as long as he reads enough books on cultivation and combat techniques, he can use the Library of Heavens Path to compare the faults of the techniques and create martial arts with less (or even without) any faults through trial and error, which greatly helps him not only with his own cultivation but also with teaching his students.

Not to mention that he can also make money by using the library to check which objects sold on markets are actual treasures and which ones are fake.

I simply cannot recommend this novel enough if you're tired of the same old xianxia/xuanhuan novels that just seem to blur together and you want a series with a pretty fresh concept and a good amount of humor.

The only other xianxia/xuanhuan novel I can think of that has the MC as a teacher is "History's No. 1 Founder", which is no longer being translated atm. <<less

MC is too OP, so he gets no credible threats or opponents.

He gets a cheat power that is extremely similar to the one in Warlock of the Magus World, but whereas in the later it is properly hindered by the extreme secretiveness of Magi, in this novel all the knowledge is far too readily available - which weakens the plot and kills any tension. All the "challenges" end up as one-sided curb-stomp battles, so there's not that much reason for the MC to even participate in them.

The one saving grace... more>> (and the strongest point) of this novel is Comedy, as MC uses absurd and illogical (to others) solutions to deal with problems.

The story abuses the same formula too much - "MC wants to do X, realizes that he needs qualification Y, instantly learns all the available books and astonishes everyone by successfully breaking all records in the trial". <<less

It's not the best novel out there but I love reading it. If you like an overpowered MC playing on easy mode that actually cares about and helps the people around him, this is for you. I love that it's not just people just trying to mu*der MC for whatever reason all the time. There's a little of that but it doesn't take up the entire plot. I love all the 'face slapping' scenes too.

It starts off with an exciting new premise, a main character as a teacher from the beginning! Cool premise right? Too bad there's very little teaching going on. Even when there is, there is nothing profound about how he teaches. Use your left hand to punch instead of your right hand, you're heart broken about a girl so you're weaker than you could be, it's just very lame stuff. Everything that happens is just a bad excuse for the main character to look cool one chapter later, and don't even... more>> get me started on the arbitrary power levels. You can become a Master Teacher if you can get X amount of students to have over 60 points of loyalty towards you? Utterly ridiculous. I advise to skip this but it gets frequent updates and maybe it will get better, who knows. <<less

It's only up to the chapter 11 for now, and it's taking its time to start up, so I can't really assess it as a novel.

But for what is there, it's entertaining, and it has potential. So far, it seem to aim to be a different xianxia, a bit similar to the founder one, and the setting has enough grounding to keep the story interesting.

The writing seems to be fairly good, and the translation is at a level where you can read without being bothered by typos every line. Also... more>> to be noted is that most of the Chinese terms seem to be translated too, you won't be seeing all kind of words that are not English all over the place, like you tend to see in quite a few translated novels. Of course, it loses a bit of its meaning along the way (how a character says "I" or how they refer to each others can give a lot of context to the character's sentences and standing), but it makes it easier to get into for those not used to those terms.

Overall, what is there was a nice read, but it's usually the case for most unusual novels, so I'm reserving my judgement for when it will have more content to judge it on.

On the plus side though, the translation seems to be daily chapters, so if the translator doesn't disappear mid January (December and June are months where a lot of translator pop out, most sadly disappear fairly rapidly without warnings), it might become one of the novels I check daily when I have the time. <<less

I kinda like the novel at first but I stop read this novel because it getting annoying.

  • If you read this novel, you will realize MC is a tr*sh, s*upid, reckless and got no honor/pride.
  • Everyone can talk tr*sh about MC, plan to humiliate him in public, and MC will just ignore it because he think it troublesome. and if MC are trying to prove his worth against people who humiliate him, he will fight him.
  • And if Author in a good mood, he will forgive MC opponent no matter how EVIL his opponent are. And if Author in a bad mood, he just beat MC opponent (not kill him) so later, author can use that character to get revenge on MC by using many dirty trick author come up with.
  • Author also make it difficult for MC raise in cultivation. I know many people said MC can easily increase his cultivation unlike other character but I don't think so. MC need around 1000 type of cultivation book for EVERY CULTIVATION LEVEL to raise his cultivation. But, if you see his disciple, people who listen to his lecturer, they can just rise it like that. (MC need many spirit stone to increase his cultivation level while his disciple do not need it at all)
  • Any cultivation novel, they just need to learn one cultivation technique to increase their cultivation level until MC found new stronger cultivation technique. But not for this novel. Every level (1-dan, 2-dan, 3-dan,........ 8-dan, 9-dan) need new cultivation book.. A thousand book for every level.. not to mention, that is just one realm.. If each realm have 9-level, wowwww... sooo s*upid.. His disciple can just increase their cultivation without cultivation book.
  • Not to mention, the MC characteristic, Author makes MC soooo s*upid that he know almost nothing about the world even after read million book..
  • his opponent behaviour are all arrogant.. Almost all character in this novel are arrogant.. Everyone keep condemn MC.. All MC decision will be laugh and condemn.. and later, when MC prove they are wrong, they will shock. Later, same thing happen again and again and again... Every test, every tournament, every chapter are exactly like this.. You will also read repetitive sentence which have same sentence every side character shocking word in every situation, every test, every tournament, every chapter.
  • Even MC has super OP library in his head, MC not use it properly. or should I say, Author not knowing to makes MC use it intelligently..
from this novel, you can tell the author just write whatever he want, such as:

  • not planning
  • not building story properly
  • not building character (MC sometimes s*upid, sometimes kind, sometimes show respect, sometimes arrogant, sometimes humble, sometimes generous, sometimes materialistic)
  • keep changing situation (cannot patient)
They are sooooo many thing for you to not read it.. and they are many novel are better than this novel.. So, don't waste your time on this novel.. It is a waste of time..

Not my cup of tea. The cheap power, you will find it really quickly, is so s*upidly overpowered and 'meta' breaking that it is not interesting. The main character is also not likeable.

I think the main issue with this this novel offers nothing interesting in a very saturated genre while utilizing a super broken system cheat power that takes a lot of suspense out of storytelling.

This is literally one of the worst web novels I have ever read. It has an interesting premise of having the MC be a teacher, but then immediately throws it away by having him not teach anything. All he does is "read" a bunch of books and have his magical library summarise them into a godly high-level technique capable of turning the worst tr*sh into a god-like genius. He barely even sees his students and goes from place to place, face-slapping anyone who dares to question him. He's literally a... more>> Gary Stu, perfect and infallible in every conceivable way. He can almost immediately become an expert in any field just by flipping through countless books. The comedy was funny at first, but the author overdid; it becomes very stale, quickly. As for cultivation? Don't even bother with that. The MC just has his magic library to create a god-like cultivation skill for him which he can use to instantly jump through multiple levels, becoming the youngest expert in his country. Even for "brain-shutting " standards, it's bad.

Some of the side characters are pretty interesting, but since the MC is always going to a new area to teach the art of face-slapping, they're quickly forgotten. It could make a good first-read, but for someone who has read dozens or over a hundred such novels, it's pretty boring. Typical wish-fulfillment novel. <<less

This is one of the webnovels I would rate highly. I've reread it about 5 times over a few years, and it never fails to make me laugh every time. The story is a lighthearted, and the main focus is on face slapping. The best way to enjoy the novel is probably by turning off your brain and just taking everything the author writes at its face value, the novel becomes terrible if you think about how shallow the characters are and how formulaic the plot is.

Story:

As mentioned previously, the... more>> plot is extremely formulaic. If you've read 100 chapters, you've basically read the entire novel. This also means that you should really stop reading the moment you stop enjoying the novel, including the beginning chapters. It will never get better. I would say doing this is what makes the difference between viewing LoHP as a fun read or leaving with a sour taste in your mouth.

The Formula:

It's been a while since I last read the novel so my recollection of the formula isn't as clear, but this what I roughly remember.

  1. MC goes somewhere because he wants to get something
  2. Someone there (rightfully) thinks the MC is completely out of his field
  3. Usually, there will be a few geniuses that will be there doing the same thing as the MC, and they will typically will go first, setting their results as the standard.
  4. At this point, attention is drawn back to the MC and he's forced to play his hand
  5. MC does/says something extremely misleading and/or absurd, shocks the crowd in a bad way
  6. Despite the criticisms from the crowd, MC then shocks everyone further by proving the absurd thing he said or did was actually 100% true and correct.
  7. At one of these steps, the author makes sure to narrate from the point of view of a spectator, where there will always be at least two people. One person will be in charge of saying something along the lines of "There's no way he'll be able to do this", upon which MC will instantly do it, causing this person to puke blood. The other person is usually in charge of patting the disbeliever on the shoulder and pointing to the MC while the disbeliever is going on a long spiel about why the MC can't do it.
  8. Rinse and repeat for thousands of chapters
Face-slapping:

Something I like about this novel is how it doesn't have one of my pet peeves, which is when the MC gets stronger but the enemies he has to face get stronger just as fast or even faster than him. Or when the MC faces a huge injustice and has to watch the opponent revel in glee, with his revenge only coming hundreds of chapters later. I'm a fan of instant gratification, and LoHP really scratches that itch. Every time the MC gets treated condescendingly, he always instantly retaliates, and completely crushes them in every aspect. If that sounds like something you would like, then this novel is likely to be for you. It's one of the better-written pure power fantasies I've seen (though the standards are extremely low). <<less

Synopsis, the ability of the protagonist and the world itself is interesting I can give it that. It's similar to Absolute great teacher, with all the professions and mastery level; the only thing that's different is that at least Sun Mo learns about the basic knowledge of the world and know how to go with the flow. Zhang Xuan in this novel on the other hand is an absolute idiot. I don't even understand why did he become a teacher when the novel seems to like to focus on him... more>> alone and not his students and his supposed "Badassery" with the help of an omnipotent glorified search engine.

The repetitive formula of not knowing something, reading a book about it, becomes a master and shocking everyone that disdained him, is such a bland and boring way to progress the novel. <<less

Okay I see mostly terrible reviews for this novel so I thought I'd chime in, as someone who finished reading the whole thing.

I would really recommend this for people looking to read light comedies, in fact for me the primary genre was comedy. And it may be a very typical face slapping type of comedy but it's very very good face slapping comedy!!

That being said, after about 1000 or so chapters, the story shifts to be more about the plot and less about the comedy, and the MC somehow does... more>> mature quite a bit. So if you're into that and have the patience to wait, go ahead.

I would've given this 5/5 stars except the second side story (second to last chapter) ruined a lot of the characters for me lol so I'm gonna try and pretend it never happened.

tl;dr: worth the read for the comedy, would recommend <<less

Once again, a novel that relies far too heavily on the comedy trope, ignoring almost every single aspect that makes a good novel.

First of all, characters, one of the major problems that plagues this novel. There are two types of people in this novel. Highly impulsive, arrogant, rich, impatient, ridiculously vindictive, s*upid, and very gullible. This constitutes around 95% of the characters in this novel. The rest are characters who reverently praise the main character, they have no other significant character traits. With this explanation, I have just listed just... more>> about every side character in the novel, your welcome in advance.

Second, the plot. Somehow even worse than characters. The plot is basically two things in this novel. Absurd cultivation speed that defeats the purpose of having cultivation involved in the novel in the first place, and face-slapping. The main character constantly face slaps people, and people who provoke him usually have almost no reason to do so, they do it anyway. I mean, at least at the beginning they had a reason to provoke him, but the further along the story the more incredulous I got. He has such a high status yet people still are intent on provoking him. For example, early on he becomes a alchemist which, in terms of jobs, are basically second in status with the top being master teachers. Despite it not being a secret, and despite the fact that the news of the main character becoming a alchemist via the hardest way possible, people still try to find trouble with him. Furthermore, there is almost zero variation in the plot. It's just face slapping and the main character learning various ways he can face slap people.

The world building is meh. I've seen worse, I've seen better. I can't remember if they ever mentioned any other Kingdoms besides the one the main character was in, even though its been 165 chapters into the story. Aside from that it's okay.

Overall, this novel is pretty bad. The comedy is basically putting the main character in a awkward position (which is always avoidable) and the main character somehow face slapping someone. Theres no depth, I don't recommend this novel at all. <<less

The story had a potential but never lived to it, pity.

Being a cultivation teacher in a fantasy high school, a cool underdog protagonist with a very interesting power in several chapters begins eternal face slapping and uses his godlike powers to skip reading and learning activities. Actually, teaching is skipped too, with cheats.

Everybody complains about cliched arcs, but even all the catchphrases are cliched too and will be repeated time and again. It's a pain to reread all this in several dozens cookie cut face slapping scenes.

Now about humor. It's... more>> about your typical arrogant uncles accompanying genius young masters everywhere and a dense miserly protagonist without common sense who will miraculously humiliate them. Everything is exaggerated and may surprise you a little for the first time only. You will have several hundred repetitions of this though.

And now about the big mystical plot. The first time we had the foreshadowing of MC's big birth secret, I had the feeling that I won't like it. Well, I didn't. All the big mystical story is about MC's parents who lack the common sense too. Pity. <<less
