“Little miss, drink a mouthful of soup. Forget everything. Your next life is a new beginning, without any earthly desires or pain.”
Looking at the soup in Old Lady Meng’s hands, depression rose within me, “But what about that person in my heart?”
Old Lady Meng smiled faintly and said, “Do you see the waters below this bridge?”
“I see them.”
“Do you see the stones in the water?”
I was stunned for a moment, “Stones?”
Old Lady Meng nodded, “Go down there and become a stone. Watch the great changes in the world for seven lifetimes. After seven hundred years, you’ll be able to bring your longing with you as you reincarnate into a new life to look for him…”

The story is incredibly sad and it really broke my heart when through all 7 lifetimes it was the crown prince that had waited for her, while she waited for someone who didn't share any feelings with her and even wrote his name on her in hope of being with his lover. While the crown prince stayed and waited for 7 lifetimes, and even before in the previous lifetime he knew she wanted to use him, but he still loved her. And maybe just maybe she might have loved him as well.
The way I understood this story is that the seventh prince wouldn't marry FL because of his position as prince whereas the crown prince was willing to give up everything to marry her. I wondered why she didn't think about why he went that far for her. But then again, she was possibly just one of many in his large harem which could make her think that he was just adding her to his collection because she was the top courtesan and it was nothing deep. Still killing someone in cold blood after marrying them is a bit....
In any case, the FL thinks seventh prince was likely bitter that she chose to marry his brother (he probably didn't care either way) and she never got the chance to explain to him that she did it to create a chance for him to become the King. He chose to forget everything from that lifetime and move on while she struck around wanting to explain to him. I wonder what though - "I killed for you so love me"? Anyway, I can accept it if I think of it more as a case of excessive feelings from the previous life preventing her from moving on.
In a way, the crown prince got his revenge because he managed to prevent the FL from explaining to the seventh prince and continue on as his concubine after his death. The tragedy is that she only realized that her actions were s*upid and that someone else was waiting around for her for 7 lifetimes when she was about to lose her memories. Also, since he won't be waiting anymore, he won't be able to remember her when he moves to the next life either. So, basically clean slate for all of them. Then what was the point of all that pain??????
