This entire novel seems like an unbearable nightmare for the MC.

He may be a excellent guy but all in can say is he lacks the strength needed by a king.

Spoiler

The female lead is just revoltingly selfish, judgemental, iresponsible and turns out a complete religious fanatic.

I mean refusing to have any kind of relationship s*xual or otherwise with your husband is not extreme it's border line insanity.

As a queen in a monarchy one of her major duties it making offspring and in any realistic setting she would have been forced if she refused to do so.

And this is only the main point even the side characters are there to give unhelpful advice or torment the MC by not being able to do simple things like getting the commoner food he likes because it would hurt the pride of the royal chef.

I question who the King is at this point.

[collapse]

This is too much of the standard Japanese trope of women allowed to do whatever the want misunderstanding situations and beating the MC for no reason without any consequences. <<less

I'm gonna give this novel a three star

I've never read such a bad Heroine like this. The only saving grace of this novel is the innocent MC. Even I who is a half masochist can't take this novel. If anyone of you likes girls who will never love you then this is the novel for you. The True epitome of "Nice guys never win" with a pinch of "Suffering"

Seriously, to give low score just coz you dont like the female lead.. She might not be your ideal heroine, but she had her quirks, and cute, naive, lovable... She had her own circumstances.. For me, this novel is wonderful, I just felt the complicated romance is so beautiful.. The MC is "good guy", the story were flowing beautifully.. I can't wait for more..

At first, the character is very adorable to read. He is an unselfish and caring man who is prioritized his public image and he's interested to become a fine man that he wishes to become. However, it suddenly changed after I read the part of the future Queen.

She is cynical, paranoid, selfish, cruel, and other than that, s*upid. She is throwing away the MC to have his own harem while she is enjoying her self-preservation. Not only that, but the other side character's advice are also too pathetic and dumb.

The... more>> MC who is the rightful king doesn't even do any type of King's duty. He's too pitiful and s*upid like the others. The author has lost his own accord at this moment when he misused the words about the duties and responsibilities of a king. He forgets that the character can be asked for some good advice from his Regent and Councilors but he didn't.

This is why I rated it lower than the others. It is lame so I apologize in advance. Forgive me fellow readers who liked it and rated it with four/ five stars but this is what I can offer to this novel. I can recommend this but it is going to be rated in the same way as I did. <<less

By the time I got through the first chapter, I had already solidified in my mind that this was gonna be a novel in which the protagonist slowly collects his harem while dodging his bit*h of a wife. Only to be surprised by a story that had me wishing more was translated.

I'm just going to say that the ending of the first volume left me with a sinking feeling that only well written drama can leave someone with and I honestly couldn't love it more. I can predict that the... more>> path the novel is going to take is something that you rarely see in wish- fulfillment novels that you have going around now all the time.

Probably would have rated it a solid 5/5 if I had a bit more than the first volume to read. <<less

The title of the novel sounds like it's going to be another cliche, but I can definitely say that this is actually a very refreshing story.

The protagonist isn't a pe*vert and doesn't "accidentally" get into ecchi situations. Think about your definition of a "nice guy" and that's basically the protagonist. He's a nice guy that wants to fall in love with a nice girl and really thinks about treating her right but doesn't actually get her.

The setting of the story is well done and not fleshed out in indigestible chunks.... more>> The writing is smooth and the little tidbits that come up in conversation about the country and it's culture are interesting such that I actually hope to learn more about the country than the characters. It was also a nice touch to include little references to real European cultures that might fly over your head as well if you don't know them.

The way in which that characters think and act are also a plus. Their inner thoughts are hilarious and their conversations with each other are even more so. There essentially good people as well, and I personally find them all likable.

I believe that reason that the novel has a lower rating is because of the main heroine. She's actually a pretty cute girl but her fist impression is so bad that it offsets further opinion of her. This turns out to be a misunderstanding in the end but if you get through that, then maybe you'll come to like her.

I hope someone would pick this up so we can see more of the story and these characters, especially the main heroine that so many seem to have come to hate. <<less

A story about a bubbly and a happy man meeting his cold wife. A bunch of resistance and misunderstanding making a funny and awkward situations for both MCs.

Rated it 3/5 because I just hated the FL for being a pretender. Duh

I rate this 4/5 stars--apparently you can't change your rating once you rate it... I've miscl**ked.

I've read this way way before, and I figured the story was alright, and definitely had skim through chapters--I always find dates quite boring; I want conflict on those.

That's my impression. The characters was alright, though I had a hard time finding their motivations.

... more>> Since I've read this way back before, that means I've forgotten some things, therefore I am not sure about the prose.

However, what stands out the most for me is that the translator--to which did a good job on translating--said that the LN volumes did not sell as much, and hence the amount of volumes it had shrinked.

If my memory is correct, the translator said that readers did not like our main heroine--to which I've also forgotten the name. Therefore, people dropped it--of course that is not the only reason, however that stands out to me.

The translator said he/she did not mind that because he/she knew that as the story progresses, we would find out that the main heroine is not actually what she seems she is (spoiler alert?).

Honestly, I thought of it the same, and when I found that out, I kind of thought, isn't that obvious? Yet, there are indeed people who dropped it because of that. And then, I realized how the readers' experience affect their patience. So here I am, I found out why some readers dropped it because of our main heroine.

I think the author should have put a POV of our main heroine or someone close to them at the beginning; it defines our tonal promise. It would show us that main heroine is not what she seems to be to the outsiders and therefore gives us a sense of mystery. It would also shows the reader that ‘she is like this, and how she acts in mc's chapter is only a facade, and in the later chapters, we would see her having that personality. It would take a while, but bare with me.’

People who had read many stories like these tend to realize that our main heroine is not actually what she seems to be, and that includes me. People who had not read something like this before, probably thought otherwise.

So, in the end, it was the readers' experience, and the author not realizing on those factors. Of course it's not going to be accurate, but I still think that was the case. That's it. Thank you for reading this thing 'cause it's pretty long. <<less
