A phoenix is a creature of legends, a wonder of the world, an imagery of life and destruction. This fabled creature signifies the rise of a hero in a virtual world where battles occur for the sake of honor and glory!

Zhang Yang was a professional gamer in the first and most fantastic game that revolutionized the world: God’s Miracle. A game where traditional knowledge in RPGs did not matter anymore, players would have to manually target and evade attacks, giving rise to a significant gap in skill between a professional and an amateur gamer.

Zhang Yang’s downfall came a little too soon. His girlfriend was snatched, his guild was harassed and disbanded, and he was even driven to commit su*cide! Jumping off the top floor of a hotel, Zhang Yang seemed as though he was soaring like a phoenix. Little did he know that the end of his life also signified his rise from the ashes.

I will not lie this a very standard VRMMO type with the only added exception of a time travelling MC. It might not be the best in the genre but is still a god read nonetheless. I started reading this because I thought this novel was somewhere along the lines of LMS or SAO but it is quite disappointing when compared to them and is when looked at as a induvidual piece of work.

I would not recommend this novel to the casual readers out there because this novel hasnt reached... more>> the bulk of its story-telling yet mainly character motivations and a general lack of direction in regards to where the story seems to be going. If you are a fan of this genre I would still not recommend starting until around half of the novel have been translated. <<less

It's generic and I like that. I'm mostly in it for the interaction between people and it's good enough that I want to keep reading.

Edit: The interactions are becoming pretty shit. There are a couple of guys who are just blatant pe*verts which I don't think makes sense in the real world and talk about it constantly. I would think no girls would be willing to put up with something that annoying. I wish those pe*verts would get like a new dimension to their personality.

I'm pretty bored by the fighting... more>> too. <<less

I tried to like this Novel I really did... if anything even though nothing out of ordinary, the game is done well and the boss fights captivate the MMO-essence, with difficulties of bosses and valid strategies to counter them. The novel tries to introduce the concept of competition for first kills and there are even PVP tournaments later on but because MC and his group are so overpowered, this whole thing is a joke. It's typical MC always wins no matter what and never suffers any real setback or even... more>> hint of it.

The fact that MC always wins in the end and the author dedicited to never let him suffer even a single bit already makes all future challenges the group faces absolutely without hint of uncertainty but still, game aspects are done well and even though the victory will always belong to MC at the very least the process of winning is interesting enough for me to read and like.

Still if everything I already wrote wasn't bad enough the entire real world part has me crying and raging any time it appears. I won't write anything else about it because I don't want to suffer when trying to recall all the idiocy that has happened. The worst part however was that while I tried to skip most of this sh*t eventually, it starts to influence the game part with it's atrocity as well, making the game part of the story even worse than it was.

Last but not least, concerning the MC relationship with women in this storyline... well simply put it, the okay good ordinary MC is always an idiot/as*hole in all those scenarios.

In any case, I tried many times to stop and start again after few days of resting from the absolute garbage this story is but I AM DONE! <<less

Overall not a bad novel, but it has some problems that lower its value.

One of them is: what are the objectives of the MC? It gives some reasons (professional gamer, girlfriend, revenge etc), but they feel vague in terms of the importance they have for the MC. He only talk of it but we see little to nothing... The 1 chapters did a good job, but after that: the MC rarely confront its feeling about the issue. We ear about it in passing like if it has minimal relevance, just... more>> a mark to pass in the future road.

Because of this, as a reader, I do not feel great attachment for these so called important reasons (i end up forgetting about them), so why must I continue with the directionless effort?

This sentiment (or lack of it) correlates with a weak emotional investment from the reader (me) to the MC in many others things. That is in other words: where is the enticement?

Where are the great and little antagonists? It all feels to easy at this stage.

The rhythm and style of the story reminds me of Zhan Long. Interesting in the beginning and always full of action but the more you read, the more tedious it becomes.

I will give this novel some more chances, but, already chapter 98, and it is beginning to be a little boring. It will surely change later on (when the so called important reasons finally appear in the flesh), but it really is slow coming : ( <<less

I got interested reading MMORPG themed novels after finishing The King's Avatar which became one of my favorite novels. After finishing reading The King's Avatar I got hunger for more and found this.

It has similarities but still different. Being that this is more supernatural at the start compared to The King's Avatar being realistic.

It's MC's struggle in life having had different bad lucks in more ways than one and a bit exaggerated bit still has somewhat realistic life like stories that happens in real life.

Second chance in life is mostly... more>> themed here like trying to change what happened before it comes to past. I had really a good time reading it, quite different when I read The King's Avatar and gave me a different feeling of MMORPG. Supporting character are quite memorable and I have someone one I dislike as a supporting character. Which means that the character building is just that detailed and well thought out.

A great read and became one of the novels a really liked not my favorite one but I really liked this novel. It's much more shorter compared to Chinese cultivation novels I read in the past that stretched too much. I feel like this length is a much better one and I felt satisfied after finishing reading it. <<less

It is cliche but horribly bad.

Spoiler

He has a fatty who's a pe*vert does bad things, r*pes women (literally bringing a gang of men yuck) I literally wanted to quit then but continued reading hoping it would be better. But what was I expecting... Bad friends who mock him every single time, scam him of thousands of dollars (despite them being rich), taking advantage of him, acting b*tchy and so many bad things but the MC literally ignores their bad deeds like it's normal. Then there are the s*upid racism, or I could say it's the MC having a mentality that every non chinese is a bad person (and the author fking portrays every pro players of other countries as some extremist and calling chinese as sl*ves, etc. And I know many esports pro players showing really good sportsmanship even after losing) and does whatever he can to stop then from progressing in the game especially japan and korea.

Irl version is also so unrealistic like every woman wants to have s*x with MC. It's like women are really happy selling their bodies to the MC and I don't really think anyone would like to sell their bodies even if they would get a job which obviously is shitty.

I tried reading it further but I'm out of patience from all these literally unnecessary and not so funny jokes, and repetitive plots which are really boring. Idk why it has so many 5 stars. Wasted so much time being frustrated and bored...

If you're only looking for some casual entertainment, this novel is good enough for that, but don't expect high stakes or intricate plot twists.

The later parts of the novel get a bit tedious and repetitive eventually, to a point where I had to force myself to finish the last 100 or so chapters, but for the most part it was a fun read.

The three major things that annoyed me though, where (long spoiler filled rant inc. you've been warned) ... more>>
Spoiler

the weird and over the top racist tr*sh talking and nationalism that many of the characters exhibited, the anticlimactic ending of the main villain, and the very poorly developed harem.

I get that there's racism and tr*sh talking in online games, since I played enough of them myself to have experienced them myself, but the way that some characters talked in the novel was just weird.

It felt really forced and oddly specific, like the enemies where over the top racist (especially the Japanese and Koreans), to justify that the main cast was being racist back.

I was also very disappointed how the author handled Liu Wei, by basically turning him into a cheap henchmen for some other last minute villain and then killing him off screen.

After all the hate and build up towards that guy, his ending felt really anticlimactic and unsatisfying.

In my opinion the author should've just fused the story and character of Liu Wei and Zhong Xiu Hua into one villain.

The harem had the same bad points as most harem stories that being that the authors get to ambitious or greedy, and introduce to many spouses, who end up being just a name on a long list instead of proper characters.

The story could've easily just have had only Sun Xin Yu and Han Ying Xue as the MCs wives and that would've been enough, and even somewhat justifiable.

The other wives Cheng Xue Yao and Luo Yu Rou where basically and literally forced into the harem, and had barely any character development or even screen time at all in the novel, and while Yu Li was introduced very early in the novel, she also turned into a footnote for the rest of the novel after her arc was done.

As a side note, I don't really count Dusk Phoenix as part of the harem, even though she's technically his mistress, because they pretty much don't do anything together, and she doesn't even live with him and his other wives at the end.

Honestly, if the author wanted more harem members to badly, they could've just used Daffodil Daydream or Snow Seeker, who both had more screen time than most of his wives...

Hell, even Wei Yan Er would've been a more understandable choice, and even a somewhat funny development.

I wasn't expecting much but got disappointed anyways.

90% of the novel consists of the Main 10 man Party tr*sh talking each other with repetitive Jokes the Rest is half decently written levelling and fighting.

MC has a contribution point System for the guild but it doesnt matter anyways. Whenever they get something good it just goes to the girl that shoves her breasts into his Face the hardest. Unwanted items get sold off to other players and the money gets distributed evenly to the Main Party. Not a single % goes... more>> towards the guild Bank or other members even when they only got it because thousands of members helped.

One girl makes millions a year from her Parents Company and MC still has to pay for her Equipment thats in the thousands of $ even when he gave her hundreds of thousands just before that by only giving rewards to the Main Roster.

How well you can move your body doesnt influence the battle. In the Start MC is always amazing at dodging everything by maxing his speed and moving well but after that it doesnt matter and he just maxes hp. Boss does huge aoe and MC just Face Tanks. Everything is auto target (melee as well as range) and skills are used by Pressung Buttons. Why make it a vr game then?

The stat System doesnt make sense. This is a fricking vr game but your weapons Auto attack at a Set intervall depending on its base attack speed. Skill doesnt matter, only weapon speed stats matter. What do you Raise strength and dexterity (speed) for when it doesnt improve your weapon handling at all and only increases the dmg numbers.

Somehow "lucky strike" made it into the game its like crits but depending on luck stat and is usually below 1% chance to triple dmg. So whenever a fight is close and MC almost loses BOOM LUCKY STRIKE + CRITICAL HIT 6X DAMAGE MULTIPLIER. 0.01% chance ggwp.

Apparently the game Company makes $$ from taxing the Auction House? But buying Gold is free market between players? So the game Company doesnt get money but you just lose some due to the tax. It just doesnt make sense. <<less

The MC is extremely s*upid, he tries to ‘lay low’ and make sure no-one knows his time travelling secret but he constantly tells his teammates what to do with precision to the point where being a beta-tester wouldn’t cover and the characters all s*upidly believe him. Also the guardian sounds like such an unbalanced class, once block gets to level 10 it doesn’t have a Cooldown so the guardian is basically invincible, WTF? But with all that being said it’s nice to turn off your brain and just read a... more>> bunch of numbers rise, I enjoyed it cause the combat was short as well, no 70 chapter long battles just nice and short although there are usually 6 bosses back to back in a dungeon and he usually goes through each dungeon 3 times. <<less

I don't think I ever hated an author so much like this one.

The way he treats every single female player that shows up as nothing more than a piece of meat to be delivered to another player is simply infuriating. Twice he played with attempted r*pe, and at one time the main character even hands a girl that was drugged in the hands of his fat pe*verted friend, and then it just so happens that "she begs" for him to stay...

At other times whenever the main characters does something incredible... more>> that gets announced to the server, the author makes sure to write how some female players beg for the MC to take them, that they are virg*ns waiting for him, just so he can later place some males calling them ugly sluts.

I could ignore how massive unbalance the "game" is, or how cliche it is, as long as it was a fun read. But when every other chapter the author has to stop and start talking about how sl*t another female character is it made for a really really irritating novel. <<less

This novel isn't terrible, there are interesting parts to it. There are a few major issues that this novel has.

The game system.

It is very repeatative. Lvl up. Dungeon raid, kill minions then kill boss. First clear bonus. Repeat.

... more>> No real story for this game. Demons vs united species army. Not any real plot game wise.

The mechanics of the game don't make sense, so the writer adds in "patch updates" the devolpers make to the game to fix his mistakes.

the characters.

the MC comes back to life but doesn't have any real goal. Just wants to game really.

the best friend is that annoying kid in high school who never stopped bugging everyone I class and couldn't stop himself from saying a s*upid dirty joke every 5 minutes, and repeats the same jokes every day.

most girls tend to fall in love with either the MC or the best friend, if they don't than that female character matters very little plot wise in this story. <<less

Immersing.

At the beginning, the only goal of the MC is too become rich enough so that his girl friend won't be forced too let him go because of a forced mariage.

But after playing the game for a long time after reincarnation, The story explain an interesting arc that is developing in the real world and explains loopholes that the MC as created because of his reincarnation and explains certain things that stayed unexplained from the very beginning of the story.

I like the characters development that is nearly perfect with everyone... more>> having unique characteristics and the change of course created by the reincarnation of MC that let the rest of the story fascinating.

The 18 chapters a week cannot even satisfie my hunger for wanting more.

VERY GOOD NOVEL for the people who are like me and read it entirely.

THE NOVEL IS NOT ONLY Incurring IN THE GAME. There is also a lot of things happening in the real world.

THE MC MIGHT HAVE HEAVENLY LUCK IN GAME BUT GOD D*MN IS LUCK SUCK IN REAL LIFE.

thank you all,

5 ⭐️. <<less

I both really like and really dislike this novel.

First off, the setting of the game is fairly interesting, I personally enjoy the balancing act of the game, I like that like the typical Xianxia novels, a majority of a character's personal achievements will rely on a combination of luck and skill. Missing either one would result in a large drop in efficiency. Whilst this also leads to the mc's group becoming overpowered well over their peers, I think there's enough comparison with normal players that their powerlevel feels more powerful... more>> without trivializing bosses (players are basically worthless though as far as pvp is concerned from what I've read thus far.) I actually quite like reading about the various skills and ways that players can become op over time, not a particularly robust setting imo but an acceptable one.

The monetary setting though is more than a bit absurd, it just doesn't make sense to me, I wouldn't mind the setting if the ratio of gold:real money took it's time escalating slowly, but by the time money is introduced, I believe even the initial amount is a staggering 300, 000 dollars. Even if it's a mistranslation and has a 0 too many, that's still an absurd amount of real cash. Adding in that where I am in the story, the MC is literally spending millions upgrading.... I lost all hope of realism from this aspect.

Characters are mostly shallow although somewhat fun if you enjoy their personalities. Nothing to rock the boat here, they fill their role and that's about it. The women are probably the most amusing characters, but at the same time, the author is trying a bit too hard to turn every single woman into a sl*t imo. (... although given that most of them know beforehand that they're flirting with a literal millionaire based on very basic math.... might be more understandeable.) Now the problem is that some of the characters actually end up being too tropey to the point of being relegated to word count essentially, being tools to easily let the author get in more words without actually saying anything. Much like the sentence I just wrote, it's a bit of a lengthy and boring way to get more words out without actually saying anything.

The plot kind of gets lost in translation really early on, it's obvious what the mc's goals are but at the same time, most of the actions that are taken don't seem to be the most effective/efficient ways of obtaining what the MC wants until you look at the scenario significantly further into the future, and that's not a setup where it's "MC set everything up in advance" but more of "everything that MC did led to this conclusion unwittingly". Adding to that, the novel setting of the MC is a beta player and hence gains access to more information is seriously hard to take when the game updates (i.e beta players don't know anything about these "new" features) and yet the characters all decide not to bother reading for themselves and rely on knowledge from their beta player..... the logic doesn't make sense to me.

So far I'm still not sold on the concept and am still waiting on more plot to really cement my opinion, but I like where the plot is finally heading to after 200 odd chapters of wondering when something relevant of why he's doing all of this would appear. My personal rating is 3.5, it shows promise, but at the same time, there's a LOT missing to make it become great.

Edit:Removing half a star because I can expect to see low brow humor and terrible nicknames everytime I see a new chapter. It might be somewhat true to reality (Being abusive to friends in mmo's is pretty normal from what I've seen and experienced.) but it makes for a terrible novel setting. <<less

It might sound strange but this is typical Chinese vmmo novel. Somehow OP MC, starting from random training village and then travel to nearest big city when real game starts. Everybody are crazy over first clear and every guild is wallet (sponsored) guild. On the other hand even though there are few surprises there are not many big mistakes in writing. Add to that frequent update make it good time kill if you download enough chapters on your mobile. Interactions between characters are quite not bad even if somehow repetitive.

I didn't particularly like it.

It felt very similar to The King's Avatar in some aspects but still held some individuality (not really). Didn't really like the female characters he teamed up with, idk but they seemed really annoying. I liked the fatty tho. The one thing that really got me was how he didn't really mention his (future/past??) girlfriend nor the guy that pretty much killed him (or did he, I have bad memory. There was a gun and stuff but I dont remember, anyways it was like in the... more>> first chapter so it's not really spoilers). Like I mean it's like he forgot about them. Seriously. (I skipped some parts so u shouldnt really believe me)

It's still good, I guess. I might come back to it, maybe around 400. <<less

Fast translation. I love that. Translator also doing good job. Easy and nice to read.

The story also quite light and enjoyable.

The MC are not the encyclopedia type. He only know common knowledge and has more experience of the game. Not OP equipment or skills.

... more>> MC know that the game are only on beginning stage so he doesn't control his friends and colleges to totally focus only for playing game. But select to nurture few people a little.

Heroin are not yet got into game. So I don't know how the romance will play out.

BTW, I recommend this novel to all. <<less

Fairly straightforward novel in terms of story, nothing special, reincarnation/second chance combined with VRMMO, we got a lot of them lately and this one joins the fray without standing out, but without falling off either. So it's mostly about a way overpowered MC getting records and crushing noobs, so far so ok, fun read.

The translation is decent, the writing ok.

The main problem I currently have with this novel is the dialogues. It's mostly boss fight with insulting each other how the fatty is a pe*vert or the girl has a... more>> flat chest and it's literally every chapter and it's sooo annoying. It makes the characters unlikeable, stalls the progress and is just repetitive. Hope this changes. <<less

This could have been a decent 3/5 story. The IRL plotlines completely ruined that.

Overall the start and the way the novel was going was pretty average, the usual- little monotone gaming with no great twists. MC doing dungeons with his friends, nobody questions where does he get all this knowledge that allows his ragtag team to best the whole world, it's just him and bunch of noobs and extremely juvenile and s*upid "humor". That kind of stuff.

Then something happened. The IRL plotlines came into being. And damn if they weren't... more>> absolutely horrid hot garbage. Every single time MC leaves his home something bad happens, and every single time he will end up with his paws in someone's tiddies. Last straw for me was when he ended up, for the second time, mol*sting the same person and when that person then was about to kill him (wtf) he suddenly came up with the plan to confess his love (his inner monologue was that he didn't actually even like her) to her so she would let him off, then they start dating. It's just ridiculous plotlines like that all around. Walking down the road he'll meet scammers and visiting a bank it'll be robbed while he's there. Author really needed to chill and not overfill every single situation. MC's life truly is f*cking tragedy if you manage to read as far as I have and look back at what's happening to him.

Sad part was that I was actually going to stick with this novel too, the game wasn't all that interesting and by no means original, but it was still alright enough to kill some time. That was me being really generous by to way. And look where it got me, slapped right into my face with this garbage dog water.

I can't be arsed to explain and quantify further why this novel isn't worth neither my, nor your time. You'll just have to take my word for it. I'll be generous one last time before putting this book in my dropped folder: 2/5 stars. <<less

I haven't finished the book yet, I'm about halfway through. I'm taking away two stars for two reasons. One is because the conversations always fall way too short. Two is because the author obviously thinks an 18 year old girl has the same mind as a 7 year old girl, for example,

"Noob tank, what’s ‘gayness’ and ‘anal’ relationship?" Wei Yan Er asked, out of her curiosity. (I know, you need context, but it's not necessary to see how s*upid this is.)
