Formerly written for c9:

This feels like a lesser version of.

Very little narration, background, description, context or characterization, it's just a series of very short chapters where a guy is OP against anything that counts as food and cooks Japanese food that obviously is going to be far better than anything existing in that world.

... more>> It feels just like all of those throw-away web novels about being OP in the other world just because they happened to get a superpower for no reason.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading those novels once in a while too, but I don't expect great writing or anything like that, just a few moments of entertainment when I am bored.

EDIT:

Sadly, as of chapter 16, the author proved that his writing skills are really poor, the story is not directed at all and it fails to even be entertaining because the characters are basically just names and little else.

He could have built upon the strengths and weaknesses of the skill, but it stayed at a mess, with barely anything worth reading as a result of a lack of focus and poor writing skills overall (descriptions, characterization, flow, world building, plot...).

On the plus side, there are not that many chapters and not much actual content per chapter, so it's not like it wasted hours of my time. <<less

It is early in the story at this point, however from what I can see so far it is somewhat of a slice of life series. The chapters focus on our protagonist being a cook, that has the skill "absolute cook" basically he is a great chef and cannot be harmed by ingredients, which even in chapter 1 you will see, can include very dangerous beasts that would require a group of elite soldiers, or a small country to handle.

The chapters are relatively short but seem to be released at... more>> a relatively quick pace so it is good. Personally it feels like something worth 4 stars so far, but it shows promise so I boosted it up to 5 star. Our main character isn't completely OP though, as his skill does not work on everything, such as slimes (which I think is odd as I have seen in at least one series that slimes are edible with certain preparation; though I guess that is just me nitpicking about different author's interpretation of slimes which can be extremely diverse, my main example for an edible slime being a small bit from "A realist Hero's kingdom reconstruction chronicle" for those who are curious)

All in all, I look forward to more. Keep up the good work translator! <<less

Well... that was... undeveloped, to say the least. The only thing I really got from this is that the main protagonist can cook, the things that can be ingredients get cooked, and his cooking is good.

That's pretty much it.

overall 3/5

Pretty bad in all honesty. Best way to describe it is as a bunch of words. It lacks everything that makes a story an actual story. No characterization, no setting, nothing. It's a waste of time more and I would recommend just reading Cook of the Mercenary Corp.

This story is pretty cute, even if it's about grown ass men and women.

Grammar: 3.5/5

Story: 2.9/5

... more>> Writing: 3.5/5

First I'd like to start with the fact that I am enjoying this light novel very much thus far. It is not a super serious novel and should be taken as a comedy/slice-of-life kind of story.

The grammar is about standard, just a few instances of awkward wording/phrasing. The story isn't very unique but makes up for it in some inexplicable charm and cuteness. The writing is about standard but again the inexplicable cuteness just shines through thanks to its simplicity.

I look forward to reading more of this series. <<less

I felt this story was very cold and not well explained...

Spoiler

like how 46 out 50 in the order died but the MC was of course devastated and killed the demon king but other than that it was very cold... like the author could have use it to make it more emotional. After he killed the demon king it was more about his feeling about what to do rather than the sorrow he is feeling of losing his mates, which is very sad in my opinion. Also they could have put more interaction with the captain and strengthen their friendship and partnership as teammates because they both lost lot of people. I understand how the MC lost motivation but like I said rather than losing teammates it more like he lost his job kind of sadness. And the killing off 46 people in the order as well as including the god was kind of forced and didnt create a flow within the story. This is just my opinion thank you♡♡♡

[collapse]

There is lots of undeveloped relationships and characters
