I Reincarnated as a Noble Girl Villainess But Why Did It Turn Out This Way? (WN)

Description

Eliza Kaldia, who reincarnated as a noble girl villainess in a fantasy otome game, was stuck in a world that seemed far from her image of how noble girls should be living, as the fated events of the game were still far off while she remained a child. In the first place, it was suspected if she could even live to make it to the school setting of the game. Due to changes in the situation of the neighboring country which never appeared in the original game, the world became nothing like the flowery school life from the game. It was a world where even young girls had to take up weapons. How did it turn out this way…

I don’t have any cheat-like abilities. I can’t use magic. Though, my sense of ethics might have become a little twisted due to being reincarnated.

Captivating. It delves into the darker and more psychological side of 'Noble Girl Villainess'. It slowly builds up its characters and plot as opposed to rushing characters into superficial relationships. It has earned a place as my all-time favorite Japanese novel.

Awesome. So far, in my opinion, comparing it to the other 'Isekai' novels, this one has such a solid plot!

Her personal situation all the way to the national level are complex, you just could not predict it all.

It is not like a generic Shoujo, Shounen, or Seinen (with Mature, obscene parts) novel with dealts with plots heavily based on its genre, rather, it is almost realistic that I think characters are alive.

The MC is not OP, she's a super hard worker, and is also a HUMAN, meaning every time she... more>> does evil deed, she felt tired and crying. These also applies to the other characters.

Lastly, the +200 chapters of the story were not put into waste, it is worth reading it. It is not comedy but I could say that I enjoyed reading it. BTW, it feels like reading [ Release that Witch ], a C-novel.

YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY IT, as you weigh both the positive and negative commentaries of this book. That's all. <<less

Good stuff! In a world, where the market is dominated by generic upon generic stories, one girl is.. The MC.

That's right folks, we have characterisation and worldbuilding galore! Turn back if your wish fulfillment fantasies don't include following the literal growth of a character, where mistakes are made and friends are lost. Characters say mysterious things, and the mystery unravels.. At some indiscernible point later in the story. If you are reading this story just to reach some kind of easy satisfaction of the MC being amazing, once again, turn... more>> back. Despite some silliness in the otherwise serious story, such as the MC's exact age during some cookery with hemlock, or the length of a certain catatonic state, I find myself unable to be turned off by something like that, they are not even plot points. I just imagine that it is a translation error and adjust the time a bit. I don't think people are dropping this novel because of something like that, since otherwise the characters are treated more realistically than in any LN I have encountered.

If emotional issues are not any interest of yours, turn back. Go pick any of the large majority of stories that make you want to be in the MC's shoes, loved by some harem or endowed with unique or important talents. This is the first LN that might not be encapsulated by the term YA, and you bet that feels good to someone who is sick of all kinds of promising fantastical premises being explored to the depth of a male equivalent of 50 Shades of Grey. In a way it is cathartic to find the immense equality in the truth that men do read and want to read just as much low-brow literature as the women who made Twilight so successful. Nothing wrong with any of this. To be disappointed in so many LNs as a fantasy fan is probably the same as being disappointed in the aforementioned blockbusters as a vampire/romance fan.

To the ones blaming the author for mentioning reincarnation in the title, but not milking your fantasies of whatever advantages you want MC to have due to being reincarnated: The author simply chose this title to fish more people to try out their story. Who doesn't want some modicum of success for their story? I wish this author all the success and this might be the first LN that I finish reading.

Of course, JP to ENG translation loses nuances and the first-person narration felt clunky at times. The third-person narrator might be better suited for describing emotions. The first-person narrative does work well in building the mystery, as the MC does not read minds and people do not say everything on their mind, nor do they do something as idiotic as blushing. The cuteness of the child characters in the story comes through their way of talking, and the way their small size is referenced in this world, where childhood is short. Just turn back, if tropes are all you look for in LNs. If this story turns to shi-te later, then too bad, but so far I must applaud.

P.S. Most Isekai LNs seem to be like the Star Trek episodes, where Kirk goes somewhere, demonstrates his superiority in solving a local crisis and bangs some alien chicks. Why they didn't make Kirk 15, I can only wonder.. <<less

Statement: I was surprised by this novel. Good characters, story, and setting without tropes or cliches. The pacing is good, with no slow points or flashbacks. Read the first 15 or so chapters and you'll know if this novel's for you.

Strengths:

The characters and story develop in a natural way at a steady pace over years. There's no real slow points. Stakes are real, and bad things do happen to characters, but not to the point where the story is depressing, keeping the story interesting. Additionally, the MC isn't op.

... more>> Notes:

The reincarnation element is used to add maturity to the MC, which is neccessary for the story, but is otherwise mostly unused. The otome's time period doesn't begin until ch 204. There's no major defining event causing the MC's trust issues, other than her experiences with her family in general.

Weaknesses:

Nothing in particular. The author didn't seem to know where they wanted to take the story in the beginning, but quickly found their stride. <<less

One of the better novels on NU simply because of its approach: instead of focusing on otome aspects, it revolves around government, politics, military and all-around behind-the-scene schemes and harsh reality. Another good point is that the protagonist is by no means ridiculously strong (OP) nor does she have any common-sense-breaking knowledge from her previous life – in fact, premise aside, her knowledge is basically useless, as she was a normal young girl back then.

If I were to pick some shortcomings, I'd say it's a bit on a slower side... more>> sometimes. Also, because of first person narration, Eliza's character and emotions are barely visible.

Spoiler

There are some suspicions around Earl Terejia and Priest Faris – and the way the seem to know something about her reincarnation – but it's all glanced over for whatever reason.

It is an okay story but it is so slow. Nothing is happening and everything is so boring. Chapter 100+ and she is still 9 years old. For fvck sakes, I can't even be bothered to check the latest chapter what age she is and I am not going to be surprised if she is only at age 10. And while she is a minor, she can't do much herself and is subjected to being pushed around by everybody. Meanwhile, she still can't fix her relationship with people after a... more>> hundred or so chapters. So much for an overcooked character development. <<less

It's a wonderful transported into a otome game story that takes things to a whole different level in terms of how quickly it diverges and how massive that impact is, along with having a main character that struggles with her sins, even though she knows what she did was for the better. The only thing that might break this story now is if the upcoming arc ends up with things occuring that act as if the previous events never occured. This would only serve to create an odd mismatch in... more>> how up until now, ever since that first divergence, things havent't been the same due to that which we all know and love: The butterfly effect. <<less

Quite dark, but I was engrossed with it

I feel something for this MC. The amount of burden she has to carry is so heavy. The only "cheat" like ability I can see from her is her 'maturity' and even that wasn't much of a help. It did get her started though.

To be honest, I'm waiting for her happy ending. Her light at the end of the tunnel. The silver lining if you will. I want her to maybe find someone? I mean it's romance right? Or at least be contented... more>> and safe at the end. <<less

[Edit2] Time of the review : chapter 70.

From my point of view, this is really an impressive work !

How to make this typically mild and unprofessional work suddenly incredibly dense, dark, mature and well written ? Ask the author ! I’m really impressed by the quality of this story. It’s unusually dark (you would understand at the first chapter), realistic and sad in some way.

The MC has only dark thoughts. It can’t be helped when you know what she passed through and when you see what kind of people she... more>> has to withstand everyday. She has to pass through a really rude and brutal formation for a young child and nobody seems to spare her. It’s really difficult to be guilty per procuration and in ones own heart.

This novel shows us a lot of militaristic, economical and political things (there’s even an entire arc where the MC goes to war) because Elisa is a countess but also a lord who has to learn how to rule her own territory. This is a long and hard road for our MC to redeem her family’s deeds and to regain a sort of freedom in her heart. Each tiny progression is a well deserved reward.

Until now, we have not attained the time when the game’s story is supposed to begin but I really want to know what will happen at this stage after all what she passed through. <<less

I think this novel is not for people who fuss about 'too much monologue/internal narration'.

Srsly speaking, u won't even feel like the story is supposed to be otome not until ch140+ and even then it still doesn't feel like it.

I'm not really too fond about reading too many monologue-ish/narration kind of novel however I did stick with it and eventually got used to it. Majority of the the FL's monologue is psychological and political with action.

This is probably the first time (as far as I can remember) I felt like... more>> I i can't trust the characters or that all the characters around FL will absolutely betray her. The way the first part of the story was written appealed like that to me and her thoughts and anxiety about betrayal caught up to me. And when she slowly opened up I constantly feel anxious and hurt that the people around her will get killed. I can't empathize with the FL but I sympathize with her. Her unstable moments breaks my heart and I just wish I could hug her.

Is it dark? I'd say yes.

My thoughts about Kamil:

Spoiler

I know that there's not a lot of intimate moments or narration about Eliza and Kamil's closeness/relationship but that death scene fckng hurts. Every time she recalls Kamil for the little happiness and nostalgia that rarely appears in her life I feel hurt. I spoiled myself some details and found out that in the LN Kamil didn't die and that he's kind of turned into an enemy and got amnesia or smthng like that but damn it. I'm not even sure if I want him back to the story.

[collapse]

I'm just very frustrated about the fact that it would probably take a couple months for another update bec the author is busy (work, I think?) Haaaaaaay <<less

Interesting and complex story with very different and distinct arcs and has a definite mature rating.

Well translated but the Japanase flavour comes across quite clearly in the MC's narration. (Not in the nationalistic or patriotic sence).

This story will take you on an adventure. The arcs are all very distinct from one another and the plot will keep churning out unexpected elements and surprises. This story won't reveal it's charm all at once so it is worth persisting through.

If you've just found this LN and want to try reading it, you should know this first:

This LN is kinda different from all other isekai LN. Don't expect the MC in this LN is the same with all other isekai LN out there. The MC doesn't have superpower or cheat ability, neither a very smart brain or vast knowledge. There's no cheat item either. The only thing she has is her hardworking attitude.

After knowing that, at least you will know what to expect from this LN.

This is an interesting novel. It technically has an otome setting, but the tone is more like a weak-to-strong demon lord scenario where the MC slowly builds an elite team of loyal servants. Lots of violent battles and intrigue. Plot-wise it drags a bit sometimes, but there are lots of entertaining side-chars and the occasional lighthearted interlude. MC is not "likable, " but she isn't frustratingly brain-dead either. If you are looking for fluff, go away, but if you like more politics/battle stuff you might enjoy this.

One of the best novels with a female MC that I had ever read. I can not wait for the next chapter to be posted because the translater is quite busy with life. Hopefully, she'll remember us and take pity on us. The story is very eventful and the MC had a bad start and had quite an uphill battle to turn the tables. This young lord had to carry her own share of reponsibility managing the land and many other turbulance which makes her weary regarding the people surrounding... more>> her. Do have hope though because our MC is awesome and she will meet and exceed your expectations. <<less

A pretty fun story about a broken girl trying to find her way in a world that becomes increasingly difficult for her despite supposedly being the setting of an Otome game.

Eliza starts off in a low place and never quite recovers from it. She tries her best to improve her situation and in many ways she succeeds, but she unfortunately suffers a lot of trauma and it colors a lot of her actions throughout. It takes a long time before she even starts getting to a better place. So take... more>> that into regard if you dislike that sort of thing. Otherwise though, she's a very enjoyable protagonist that bewilders those around her with her unusual intellect for her age, and also ends up being quite adept at fighting.

The story itself has a tendency to skip around more than it should. Not to the point it should lose you, but it definitely has a tendency to jump between separate plot threads and inform readers about events after they've happened. Or even just ignore it altogether for a few chapters after leaving readers on a rather meaningful note. It's not the most pleasant reading experience at times, but the rest of the story is pretty good and what we do get is fairly interesting.

The pacing is pretty slow and it takes a very long time for the story to get anywhere. That's not to say nothing happens and what we do get is pretty interesting, but it's definitely something to note for people that prefer faster moving stories.

The translation itself is pretty readable. Definitely better than most translations you'll find, though that's admittedly not saying much. I'd give it a 7/10 or so? There are a lot of translation errors and more than a few times that the translator confuses the speaker. There are also many cases where it's clear the translator was making guesses with his translations, with the results fairly off from what was originally written. At a guess, I'd say the translator either is Chinese or knows Chinese since a lot of the mistakes make a lot more sense in Chinese. Overall the translation is more than passable though, and though I feel some of the awkward translations are easily fixed with even a basic JP->Eng dictionary, there's nothing I would say is wrong to the point it ruins the story. <<less

First few chapters were a little bit hard to get through, but it soon gets better. Somewhere around chapter 20 maybe I realized I loved this novel. The MC has to work hard to get results and doesn't have OP cheat abilities or knowledge from her previous life that makes everything easy. Great world building and characters, and it also has reasonable politics and military elements. Even though the premise is an otome game, there hasn't been any real romance up till c199 which makes perfect sense in this story.... more>> So if you want some real sappy romance right from the start, this isn't the story for you. <<less

Well....

First of all unlike what most reviews saying the otome is not entirely deceiving...

Its not that they are wrong but the otome factors only appears in recent chapters and probably we will see it more often in the future.

... more>> Now about the story its dark (not too dark} noble and wars type and realistic to some degree. (not really but its still more realistic then the average novels)

The story progress is SLOW and sometimes boring and dry but interesting and the world backstory is good.

About the MC will its better to read the story and get to know her because most of the first chapters are about her and her ch development.

In the end of you are someone that don't mind reading long story with a lot of emotions plus world building and little action then I recommend this novel for you..

Btw

The translation is good and I don't think translator-san intend on dropping the novel. <<less

A good story, while it has the setting of an otome game, it is quite dark and somehow mystery. It focuses on politic, administration and interaction in the nobles’ world unlike other stories so it can be a little complicate for some people. But still, I think it’s a great read and you should try it.

Akuyaku Tensei takes on a distinct theme; while it was built on otome game setting, it strayed from the usual fluffy and funny plot, instead threading on a darker path. Just consider this: the 2 years old MC poisoned her entire family in the first chapter.

Needless to say, it started off great. Another plus is that up to the latest chapter (22nd), we can experience not only the world development but also feel the underlying ominous atmosphere all around.

I’ve much expectation with this novel, but it’s early days yet. I... more>> might come back in the future to revise this review. <<less

This is heavy and tiring to read. This ain't fun. All I feel is negative energy and I just hate how the chapters get dragged by some useless fillers. It's already slow-paced and hard to read so there's no need for fillers!!! It was translated back in 2015, and the story is unusual. I'm only in the first few chapters and I'm giving up reading this.

I'm not going to rate this as I had only read the first few chapters, but for those who love interesting stories from the start... more>> that will get you hooked then this is not for you. It's heavily into the [TRAGEDY] genre.

I'm tired. I want to read this but it's confusing.
Spoiler

and WTF? Kamil died??? I just saw a spoiler... I'm really never going to read this sh*t again
