A feeble attempt at a sci-fi short story.

The short story bites off more than it can chew, trying to answer too many questions with too few words. What is the sun? What is light? What is time? What is existence? In the end, the answers are as meek as the questions are lofty.

The author is unable to grasp the crux of a sci-fi story. Depth is given when a brief summary would suffice. Yet with all the superfluous background, gaping plot holes remain unpatched. The story is devoid of logic... more>> and things are the way they are "just because".

Spoiler

Why is the robot girl planting sunflowers? Where did she even come from? Why does she look like the doctor? What the hell are those sunflowers? What is the point of sending out those robots if humanity is going to die anyway? Why are the robots so enraptured with the robot girl and her sunflowers? Why is light so important? Are they all just plot devices?

[collapse]

The author seems to have spent all his words painting a vivid world, and when it came time to drive the key points home, he was linguistically bankrupt without a penny to buy even a vowel. I've read the story twice and still can't fathom what exactly the author is trying to say. In fact, maybe the author just doesn't have anything to say, and the story is just a cute little pseudo-scifi story. <<less

it actually made me cry. The author having the robots listen to build a home by the cinematic orchestra was brilliant imo. A beautiful song, a beautiful story. I liked it a lot

It's a very nice short novel without any complications, albeit a little sad, it's still enjoyable and it also gets you thinking. It has a nice depth to it, and since it's a short novel, lengthy explanations are avoided so it's a story that can be quickly enjoyed even without making you feel there is something missing.
