It's a good novel, but I like to state things that are repeated a bit too much.

MC bows down to literally anybody who give him a bit of gratitude. He bows to a postitute, when she says she buys his energy drinks.

Do not expect any badass moments from MC. Despite being op he doesn't like fighting so all those powers goes to waste.

... more>> Gets played by humans and demons. Instead of getting revenge he just curses his incompetency.

MC is basically naive, even he knows that but still doesn't change.

I don't know why the author created an op MC if he is just gonna not use his powers.

Spoiler

There was a merchant representative who spats all foul words towards MC for his lack of knowledge about business and how his unfit for business etc.. he literally abused MC with words. Then our MC just goes and curses himself for his incompetency. In the next chapter the author tell us that the merchant representative is a tusundre and was trying to make him a bit likable. I mean wtf then why create such character in the first place.

It's all right if he just doesn't wanna show off his powers etc.. but one thing I really don't like how he literally bows down his head for thanks to literally everyone. If the MC sneezes even then he will bow down for forgiveness lol.

The lack of badass moments is really one of the reasons for the low ratings. The author hypes about few events and when those events takes place it will be a complete let down.

When u expect a cool fighting scene, what you will get is boring business monologues from MC. How he should do this and that etc.... <<less

I already see from afar that this will be have a very bad story telling, but I am defeated by my curiosity and read till chapter 280 or so.

And only regret that come, I am never so angry for what I've done reading so many novel, I am angry for myself, I should drop this from early.

The author sure have some serious problem about sexuality to the level of nonsense, all romance and physical relationship here is nonsense big nonsense, ... more>>
Spoiler

while some fMC clearly want the MC and MC is know that, he is just a very herbivore man, it's a complete nonsense. While some antagonist character raping countless girl, woman, married or not and make them pregnant, a country practically become his harem, and somehow there is no resistance at all, he keep the fun and just fine for so long ? Nonsense, And some character just a pe*vert that sleep with whoever she/he wish, while still married, and the husband is a cuck who let her gangbanged by his own friend and he himself is dickhead who have love affair with many, nonsense and their group of modern people just fine with that, nonsense. Some character is cheating having daughter with unknown man whithout the husband knowing and strangely they have high social standing, somehow no one know it, really ? Really ? Nonsense

I should believe some reviewer said author is virg*n who know nothing about love and romance, I should believe it beforeeee, The lack of sense it's so frustrating to read this. <<less

Really happy that it started again.

whatever the comment I advise you guys to start reading, the novel is very interesting and the fact that the MC is “special” psychologically or how he act are really realistic when you take in consideration what he is living and the experience that he have been through.

enjoy your reading

Want to start this off by saying I enjoyed this series for a while. I also want to state that I haven't read it in some time and that I dropped it.

I can tell you exactly when I started to lose interest in this series. It was when "Hibiki" came into the picture. I could not stand her character. To make it simple she's a character that believes in her own set "justice" and anything outside of it is evil or wrong. Her ideology was simply a childish dream of... more>> change brought about without action but with immense strife. Her idea was, effectively, to go back to s*avery and hope that one day the Goddess and her followers change. That's it. Which is at odds with the main character's idea to eliminate the root of the issue while saving as many as possible. His idea is faster and comes with more casualties in the short term but solves the problem without leaving it to chance.

It was incredibly difficult to read when her character was in the lime light. I read on for a while and eventually dropped it not long a after that as the story seemed to go downhill from there. However, up to that point the story was quite enjoyable. I binged through most of it which is definitely worth some praise in and of itself.

With that said I would still recommend this series. At least up to that point. I can't rate it highly as a whole package but it's a decent 4/5 up until Hibiki really comes in and drops to about a 3/5 after that. <<less

Well I like the story.

No harem. That's a bonus. I don't like harem

No romance. Yeah. But I still like the story so much that I follow the trans to the latest chapter. I don't know. There is something in this story attract me so much that I can't stop reading it.

... more>> I don't hate MC. Instead I think he and I are quite similar. Sometimes I just see myself in him. Like "if I were him, I have done that too".

Sometimes MC is really annoying. I mean he is kind of dumb, too kind and generous. Sometimes he, like the comments said, being a story-killer. But I just accept that side of him because he is still a highschooler, a boy and more importantly, a traditional type of Japanese. Put yourself in his shoes please. And I'm more annoyed about the Heroes than him.

However I'm more curious about Makoto's future and the hidden talent that's so great but he refused to accept it. The author have done very well in developing the store line so that reader cannot easy guest the end. Plus I like this kind of writing style. Reigokai also made excellent work. Thanks Reigokai a lot.

All in all, love the genre, love the story, love the trans, love the writing style, love the-sometimes-annoyed-characters, love the other characters.

So 5 star ? <<less

This is one of the most amazing novels I have ever read. I will start with solving many ambiguous things that other people have said. This novel has many resemblance with novel OVERLORD in terms of characters, their power levels and plot (world domination is not primary objective but comes as a result of even greater objective). The MC is thrown into a parallel world in the middle of wasteland with almost no support from the goddess of this world but got many benefits from moon god whom he deeply revers. This story is mainly about his journey in the parallel world as different event occurs and how he fares through it.
Spoiler

1) MC- misumi makoto

The MC is an average guy with exceptional mastery and will towards archery. The MC has no significant talents except archery and is easygoing. But he loves and treasures his subordinates like family and will go to any lengths to protect them. The subordinates reciprocate and will do anything for their master's (waka) well being. Due to his tenacity he endures the harsh world he is thrown into and gradually gets power comparable to god. The MC is no Saint (doesn't value lives other than his subordinates) and thinks of himself as a side character to this world by not involving himself in the ongoing war (though he eventually gets involved because of his overwhelming power). The MC is in midst of finding an objective in this world, which might be related to usurpation of the current goddess of the world. The MC is also neither hot headed nor impulsive unless any harm comes towards his subordinates. His subordinates are similarly extremely powerful as compared to the the inhabitants of the world. The MC is jovial, loves exploring and finds joy in smallest of things like hot springs.

[collapse]

CONS: The novel has only one con and that is very slow start. If you can endure 25-30 chapters and get familiar with authors unorthodox style of writing, you will be craving for every chapter till end. Pros

1) politics does not involve major portion of novel. The kingdoms are relatively stable. 2) important events are described with multiple povs so you can get a full picture without missing any detail. 3) the magic techniques used are limited & simple and are described very nicely which are easy to remember. 4) the characters aren't annoying and s*upid (except few) most of them are rational and can think with reasons. 5) unlike many other novels the MC is not extremely lucky that everything goes his way. His journey is full of ups and downs and has to rely on others in certain ways. 6) the novel gives you a warm feeling as of family. The romance is there and the MC has an idea of the the people that like him but has not straight forwardly accepted them due to certain reasons which are yet undisclosed. 7) the story involves comedy, suspense, action, romance, character growth etc. And is not monotonous unlike other novels where the MC just wants to become strong or wants revenge etc. 8) the nerd details are not given like weapons rarity or attack power etc

9) the story has different perspective which is not of common people but god's, heroes, emperor's etc. With some exceptions.

What is this novel?
Spoiler

None (nothing), I AM SERIOUS, dude. Don't believe everything on genre and tag about this novel.

Why is author writing this?

Idk

Would you mind deconstruct this novel in short, very short sentences?

  1. MC = normal hikikomori (Japanese: ひきこもり or 引き籠り, lit. "Pulling inward, being confined", i.e., "acute social withdrawal") it has been listed in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
  2. We can incure 2 points here. First about MC that's mental disorder has different view of truly anything and second about MC Inertia' behavior.
  3. MC hiki, so until the dead of all life, he wanna stay as hiki (without changes)
  4. Author has been hint it, since earlier times. At 1st cover of LN, MC is being carry like in parade (show us a limelight of grandeur, but takes alook at his expression not very suitabale like pig that's gonna be beheaded/slaughtered [superb-contrast].
  5. Now take alook at MC's portrait in the latter cover LN, he or it's behind (he/it's like usoop in one piece). Who's in the fore front? -Protagonist
  6. There's a theory about false protagonist (Character who reader thinks was protagonist but not)
  7. e.g. #Danmachi, Bell Cranel is only one of the character in the world of Orario, he become side character in the story of sword orario in which telling the life of Ais Wallenstein.
  8. #One Piece, MC is Luffy, but more accurately are Straw Hat Pirates, the whole crews are Main Characters.
  9. #Reverend Insanity, MC has second life, he make thousand plans and struggle thousand li, upon which in the end, he simply makes a wedding dress for the true MC, Ma Hongyun (Bearer of Rank 8 Immortal Gu), his remake of life none other than for Hongyun.
  10. Conclusion, MC = side character in the making, his true ambition = become loser, hiki, stay-out of limelight, always turtle, full of naivety, lord of sour-faced, douchebag guy, man of yesterday, advocating unpopularness, lazyness, stillness, roundaboutness, and shitness.
  11. Maxim; Lamborghini will have a hard driving in mud road, and so Asphalt in need absolutely, so be it, MC = asphalt's role.

Update: I've now caught up at C280. The translation has gradually improved to a 3, maybe 3.5. The story is slightly better; positives are somewhat weighed down by negatives. The author fleshes out the characters and the setting, but the rambling monologues are still a problem. The author also tries out many interesting and different ideas, but he could've spent more time developing each one before suddenly jumping to the next one. For example: there is no specific training in between serious fights, and MC will start using new abilities... more>> with little explanation. There isn't much of an overall direction; the MC's 2 initial goals (revenge on the Goddess and learning about his parents' history) barely progress.

********************************

Rating: 2.5 stars, Translation: 2/5

(My reviews may sound negative, but my format is short on positive comments (avoiding spoilers), and often lists reasons why I didn't give 5 stars.)

[5 star = almost all readers may enjoy. 4 star = large majority of readers may enjoy. 3 star = 50/50 of readers may enjoy. 2 star = niche audience may enjoy. 1 star = portion of niche audience may enjoy.] [5/5 = Infrequent minor errors. 4/5 = Frequent minor errors or infrequent major errors, no difficulty to read. 3/5 = Frequent major errors, some difficulty to read. 2/5 = Difficult to read. 1/5 = Unreadable.]

My intro (minor spoilers from prologue) : MC is a 17-year-old high school student, whose parents are from another RPG/fantasy world. Because of a contract his parents had with the goddess of the other world, MC is transferred to the other world with the help of one of Earth's gods. However, the goddess of the other world doesn't like MC, and she wants nothing to do with MC. The goddess sends MC away to "monster" territory with a "curse." The Earth god tries to make up for it by giving MC a unique ability.

The MC starts out alone and disoriented. He has some OP physical ability and magic power, but doesn't know how to use them. He slowly learns, while he gathers followers and wanders towards human territory. His goals are a bit vague, MC does mention wanting to search for his parents' history or relatives. Fans of the summoning/reincarnation genre will find the format to be familiar. The story seems to be a variation where the summoner is an antagonist, and the MC is the misunderstood underdog. However, the execution, and the translation, is not so good. The story is in 1st person POV, and the narrator usually rambles on for most of the chapter. The train of thought can get so off-topic, and continue for so long, that I forget what the chapter was originally about.

The story can be too vague. 3 examples: 1) The MC says his 2 main followers feel like sisters to him, but there are no scenes or dialogues that make it seem like his followers have that kind of relationship with MC. 2) Descriptions of locations and people are lacking, so I have trouble imagining this new world. People are faceless names, maybe with a certain hair color. Locations are just a "town" or "village." 3) The magic/fighting/leveling system is not fleshed out. MC seems to only use 1 spell and 1 ability, but somehow does dozens of things with them.

Because of the issues with writing style, I think most readers who aren't hardcore fans of the genre may quickly lose interest. Thus, the 2.5 star rating on my scale. I'm sure the translator worked very hard, but I am having a lot of difficulties. There are chapters where I have to guess what's going on, so I rate the translation a 2/5 on my scale.

Many sentences are bizarre, and seem like minimally edited machine translation. Here's an example: "I want to say that the inside is but from the taste of people it would be faster to count them backwards." Even if I understand a sentence, their context might not make sense.

I also discovered that I'm bothered by sentences that inexplicably end with the words "but" or "so."

I think some fans of the genre, despite the flaws, may still want to read this series, but be discouraged by the translation. <<less

The story premise seems interesting but the protagonists monologue is not coherent enough and his mind seems to be all over the place I cannot seem to get into this character place and follow along at all the protagonist thoughts seems to start in the middle go to the end and then finish at the beginning if I had to describe it and it's hard for me to follow along.

This story is... how do I even describe it? I guess, like everyone said, it's your everyday generic JP LN. I do remember really looking forward to it when I'd started reading ~6 months or so ago, and read all the available chapters over the course of 2-3 days. So it's not an unbearable read by any stretch of the imagination. But that's it. There's nothing distinctive enough to make you want to check back on it and continue reading (hence why I have yet to even look at the... more>> 70+ chapters waiting for me). If, one day, I'm bored and just want to read an easy story with an OP hero and pretend drama, then I might pick this back up/start it over. As it is now, I'm a bit burnt out on nonsense stories going nowhere- I'd like to read a story where I can get attached to at least 1 character.

And as for the harem thing- as a girl, I can't say I love or even like them. Most of the time, they're downright awful and read as the author trying to live out his desperate fantasies/fetishes through his characters and, if I didn't like it in Twilight, I'm not going to like it here. HOWEVER, an "almost" harem is nearly as bad as an actual harem (and can definitely be worse when taken too far). "Almost harem" is what I'd use to describe this situation here- you have a ridiculous number of women in love with and desperately pining for the MC and the MC, despite being so OP in just about every other aspect of life, can't even pick up even the most obvious of flirting signals. Our MC has sailed past dense and completely become a vegetable at this point. I'd rather he just screw a couple of his entourage and move on, honestly.

The rest of the story... since I'm behind quite a few chapters I won't really say much about it. But, plot wise, I'd call it lukewarm- the type of story I'd read while knitting a sweater or waiting for a cake to bake or something where I could spare some attention. <<less

I'm here for the true harem end,

I've been reading this since the start of the series on 2013, but chose to wait for bulk reading later on.

I just get back to this series, but a lot of reviews said that the romance was quite bad. I did some skim through to validate their findings.

Sadly to say, this novel was amazingly disappointing. A lot of new possible heroines, with nice disposition, good background story, but then just to be rejected or neglected without any clear reason and purpose.

Meh, author-san don't just add harem element if you're unable to get a proper closure for each of the heroine you introduce later on.

Just put your Impotent MC in a world of erectile dysfunction instead.

I feel like I'm just wasting my time while reading this novel. I gotta be honest and it isn't bad for an isekai but that's it.

Vast amount of lackluster and uninteresting characters, Root specially is f*cking disgusting even though it was interesting to see it's point of view since it lived thousands of years. Main 2 girls were decent characters (barely).
The Main Character is almost like a typical japanese MC just that he doesn't mind to kill and he's ''drifting'' away from his humanity, but apart from that he's... more>> totally cliché. Of course there is the eternal c*ckblock, which I didn't even mind.

Like someone below said it feels like a chore to read so the fact that I dropped it influenced my rating a little bit. Thinking about it I'd give half a star more.

Anyway I gotta be honest with you if you like generic Isekai you'll like this and it will be just above average. I think it had potential, of course the author made sure not.

Mushoku Tensei is much better even though that novel isn't one of my favorites either. <<less

Probably the series that got me into Japanese WNs. I even re-read it a couple times and was super excited to see the author return after a 2 year-long hiatus. It's really sad to say that I wish the author would've killed the novel and just say it's canceled or something.

Reading the newer reviews really made me realize that I'm actually not enjoying this and every chapter feels more like a chore to read than an actual novel.

The translator is pretty epic, so there's that at least.

I am so close to dropping this one. I'm honestly temped to rate it 1 star but I won't cause the translation is still excellent which saves it. Why? You may ask. It's cause this novel loses sight of itself. The friggin title is called "Moon Led Journey in Another World" one would think it would focus on adventure, sight seeing and the culture the author comes up with, and you'd be right for the first 150 or so chapters. Afterwards this novel completely devolves into a socio-political commentary with... more>> a recent focus on various company logistics and business management. In short it's a total snooze-fest I feel like I'm reading a college textbook or a how-to run a business manual than a light novel. There's seldom any action anymore which is the biggest shame cause the author wrote very interesting characters with various interesting abilities yet nothing seldom comes of it

Speaking of characters as of the current chapter there's way too many! It's approaching Korra levels of character numbers. Outside the MC and his 3 companions I can barely tell who's who anymore cause new ones pop up almost every chapter. The villains are interesting but due to the abundance of characters and the stories de-railment they are stuck as the generic types. The evil goddess, Neo-nazi in a skirt and a hero who such a puppet to the princess you can see the hand up his butt.

To be frank the only reason I'm reading this is to see the inevitable destruction of the villains and to see the fluffy moments of the MC and his 2 love interests. I cannot recommend this story to anyone in good faith unless they want a die-hard political commentary. I finally figured out it just wasn't that interesting once I started dreading seeing a new chapter in my inbox

That aside the translation is amazing if this story was in someone else's hands who's more prone to errors I would have been dropped this and so would have alot of people <<less

Let me say this in advance... my rating above is unbiased. Subjectively I'll give this just 1 star.

The reason is clear, I personally hate everything about this story, probably because I consider it above your standard isekai genre that I'm expecting something from it.

You can feel the author held back, to the point it makes the story a chore to read.

I think arifureta would make a good benchmark, so I'll put this simply... if this's arifureta, the number of gods MC had killed would be comparable to the amount of... more>> fingers in one of your hand.

Maybe this's what happen if you grow up... I hate problems not being solved, if you could solve it as soon as possible then why not doing it? start some progress, if you had the means to deal with it then why not? the author probably think problems are not worth solving as you can't use it as writing material anymore... and I hate it. <<less

If you're willing to sit through for the long-haul, there's some pretty rewarding introspection on how the 'normal' protagonist succumbs to feelings of bias and even as that evolves into racism. While Makoto for the most part follows the dense protag archetype in regards to romance, his main love interest Mio, lovable in her own right, does get recognition much later on down the road.

Makoto does eventually tackle most of the atypical LN protag tropes in his monologues, it's just a matter of whether you want to read through 300... more>> chapters to get to that.

I am fairly biased, as I'm a fan of the series, mostly how Makoto is portrayed fairly early on (around chapter 50) as having some glaring flaws that dictate his choices which do lead to genuine conflict, just not the shounen power-conflict I'm sure many readers want, though again I'll reiterate that if you aren't willing to sit for the long haul of 305 chapters to get some sort of resolution, I'd suggest you pass this one up.

It's worth mentioning that the author, having lost a loved one had taken a long hiatus on the series, but has since picked it up and in full force, which is commendable to say the least.

Also, the early translation, or at least where I read it was EXTREMELY shoddy, if you're a native English speaker, beware! <<less

I'm ambivalent about this. This is one of the earliest isekais that I read that tried the (still-rare) approach of starting the protagonist out with a socially-unacceptable party and having the entire world be against him because of his looks and companions. Some higher-tier characters did have the real feel of challenging him even when he is pushed to his limit, and could probably still threaten his life even at this stage, with a bit of luck and plot; that was also surprising to read in the isekai genre. However,... more>> as it moves past 150+ chapters, it starts slipping deeper into many of the same ruts that plague power-fantasy isekai stories.

He realizes he has a pretty broken reality-warping skill from the get-go, but that's still fine because he doesn't really abuse it too much as a win button. The story also introduces multiple isekai protagonists with completely differing aims from the get-go, and only one of them is an outright scumbag, so that was interesting as well. While Makoto usually coasted through, tension was still maintained through Hibiki having actual stakes and being far less overpowered than him, providing a good contrast.

The problem is, as the story goes on (c200+) and Makoto's power level continues to ramp higher and higher, the sense of danger for his faction is lost, which is a pretty big deal for a conflict-driven plot. He increasingly just seems to play around, sending weaker allies to deal with conflict rather than stepping in himself, even though he could. That smacks more of artificially-generated conflict than any real challenge. Furthermore, the moral standards of his party continue to slip further and further as his comrades only hew to his morality standards in front of him, but would really rather kill anyone who insults or resists him.

The only possible saving grace is that the author seems to be increasingly hinting at a bloodthirsty, careless and irresponsible persona that he will grow into if he continues on this path, if he is not simply using those scenes to show that Makoto will be way stronger in the future with no other hidden meaning. If the author reveals that this is a subversion of the typical path that the protagonist is going to figure out how to slip out of, it might redeem the WN. Otherwise, it will become one of those series that starts off strong and ends meaninglessly.

Holy shit...

This author must have some mental issues... all of those suppressed emotion and buildup... never resolved properly... it feels like you're drinking lukewarm water.

I get it that he tried to make MC's thought to seem 'jumbled' for emphasizing his attachment of modern day peace-drunkenness. Author keeps saying that MC is naive, then proceed to build some suspense, made the MC depressed, and resolve it in : (1) some shitty lighthearted way --- (2) or not at all. These kind of suspense are okay, if resolved correctly, and in timely... more>> manner... but you aren't supposed to keep doing it for like 130+ chapters, frustrating readers for on every possibilities of catharsis. I don't even know why I keep reading this, I felt like I am turning into a masochist.
