A phoenix is a creature of legends, a wonder of the world, an imagery of life and destruction. This fabled creature signifies the rise of a hero in a virtual world where battles occur for the sake of honor and glory!

Zhang Yang was a professional gamer in the first and most fantastic game that revolutionized the world: God’s Miracle. A game where traditional knowledge in RPGs did not matter anymore, players would have to manually target and evade attacks, giving rise to a significant gap in skill between a professional and an amateur gamer.

Zhang Yang’s downfall came a little too soon. His girlfriend was snatched, his guild was harassed and disbanded, and he was even driven to commit su*cide! Jumping off the top floor of a hotel, Zhang Yang seemed as though he was soaring like a phoenix. Little did he know that the end of his life also signified his rise from the ashes.

This is by far one of the worst novels I've read. It starts out harmless enough: we follow Zhang Yang as he uses his knowledge and skills from the future to conquer dungeons, slap bosses around, discover incredible secrets, etc., all while unintentionally adding new girls to his harem. The characters are stereotypical and one-dimensional, there's not much of a plot, and the setting is fairly standard. So it was definitely not a literary masterpiece from the very start, but it was okay as far as web novels go, something... more>> you could read quickly to fill your craving for power fantasy, gaming and virtual reality stories.

But it gets worse.

The characters go from bland and mildly annoying to obnoxious and downright awful as the story moves along. They keep spouting memes, terrible jokes, pop culture references, innuendo and sarcasm, which often add nothing to the story or the characters. Rather than making them more relatable, it turns them into poor caricatures whose only purpose in life is being the local court jester. We have the fat pe*vert, the other pe*vert, the serious man, the stoic girl, the greedy loli, the greedy b**b-lady, etc. Rather than quirky companions, their actions paint them as terrible friends whom you only put up with because of their skills (not even that, in the case of fatty).

But it gets worse.

The story gets really repetitive and uninspired, with a few interesting developments only every dozen chapters or more. Even if this is an MMO, you could come up with interesting quests, sophisticated AIs, creative bosses, and whatnot. It's fine to display the first boss battles and showcase the equipment and skills, but after a certain point, it's just meaningless if they don't add anything. I know the MC is a super tank, I know the b**b lady is good at healing, I know the bosses are typically hard... what's new? Why would I want to read what's essentially the same fight with some extra flourishes over and over again? There are a few cool quests, dungeons and bosses here and there, but it's mostly filler.

But it gets worse.

The novel becomes increasingly self-indulgent as the game breaks every rule of design and common sense to make Zhang Yang more special, our MC goes around doing whatever he wants in the real world and getting away scot-free due to his connections, entire chapters are dedicated to little more than face-slapping, and the sexism runs rampant. We get female NPCs drowning in fanservice as if the game were made exclusively for h**ny guys, women ready to sell their bodies at the drop of a hat, endless descriptions and discussions of breasts, female characters (including the main characters) displaying shameless greed and vanity as their standard behavior... the list goes on. There's one particularly repulsive scene, which I don't even want to describe, that seriously makes you wonder if the main characters are actually the bad guys of the story (the answer is, of course, no, because the author lacks any hint of self-awareness).

But it gets worse.

As the game progresses and the servers around the world start interacting, it's time for our favorite pals: racism and xenophobia! That's when even Zhang Yang becomes one of the characters you hate, as the author tries to justify the MC's petty bigotry by turning everyone else into bigots, as well as incorporating national rivalry into the game, which encourages players from different regions to kill each other. You have world-class, respected players screaming about the superiority of their races and how the Chinese should be s*aves, and the MC always ready to defend the glory of China, humiliating them like the dirty foreigners they are. Who cares if Zhang Yang is a bit "politically incorrect"? His enemies are the unreasonable ones, not him!

But it gets worse... no, not really, that's rock bottom, at least as far as I could endure. There are lots of awful things I could mention, but they're just pieces of dirt on top of a mountain.

This novel is not a power fantasy. By diving so deep into its own ass, it fails to excite, inspire or empower anyone. This isn't just because it's poorly written, but because its idea of self-fulfillment relies on hatred, exclusion and favoritism. It's an awful world filled with awful people, so is there even any merit to being "successful"? If anything, Zhang Yang is a tragic figure, doomed to become the man he hates the most. He's surrounded by bootlickers, gets all sorts of unfair advantages, has special connections which let him accomplish whatever "justice" he feels to be correct, is more than comfortable ignoring morally dubious things done by his allies, and judges people by their birthplace before they even have a chance of saying or doing anything.

No, I don't want to be Zhang Yang. I'm not even sure if Zhang Yang wants to be Zhang Yang. <<less

First: anyone calling this a rip-off of (insert novel here) must be new to light novels because they're all pretty much rip offs of each other.

Second: this novel is genuinely terrible.

I was into it for maybe the first 50 chapters, but then things changed.

Here are the top 5 reasons you should not read this novel:

  1. Terrible plot with tons of repetition
  2. Harem is already forming, including underage girl
  3. Supporting characters are one-dimensional and s*upid to an irritating degree (Fatty Han's pervyness as an example)
  4. MC puts up with so much sh*t from party members (at one point one of them cheats him out of a lot of money and he treats it like a joke)
  5. The way it is written, the description of skills and classes and really everything about the game, shows the author does not know the first thing about MMORPGs; it is completely unrealistic from a gaming perspective alone (not even going into all of the other problems).

The lack of description makes it move quickly. However, whatever happens doesn't

really matter. Some moments have potential, but the writer is unable to capitalize on them. The story's not awful, but it doesn't have just a few problems either, and is poorly written. -Weak characters. A poorly constructed MC, the crappy rich-young-master antagonist, a generic harem of beautiful women who all need the MC to save them, other players rarely exist and are even more rarely given any depth.

-The writer's terrible with basic math and logic. Numbers... more>> used, whether counting amounts or time, don't make much sense, and translation errors don't help matters. You can only do your best to ignore them.

-Awful descriptive abilities, usually doesn't even try to describe.

-No sense of greatness in the MC's endeavors. There's a lack of worldbuilding, and major quests and dungeons are uninteresting.

-Other problems from bad writing and lack of thinking. (Copper above steel? C'mon bro.) <<less

I'm done with this. Seriously.

It was an almost OK time waster for me, but I can't take it any more. The last chapter killed me.

This is the story of a professional player of a MMORPG named "God's Miracle" who fell in love with a girl who once was his enemy. Sadly, the girl came from a rich family and our unfortunate soul of an MC wasn't wealthy enough to keep fate at bay. She was then forced into an arranged marriage and during the night of her weeding, the jealous... more>> husband decided to visit our poor MC to end his life (because why not). After an intense fight the MC jump from the balcony of the 19th floor taking the jealous husband with him in his downfall.

Sigh... and that's the end of the story, thank you for reading the novel.

Naaah, I got you, that's just the first chapter.

OK seriously, this is a novel about an MC who "failed" his life, died, is given another chance and try to do better this time. "God's Miracle" is a game that will be heavily monetized, our MC with his memories of a time traveller (and my gosh, that guys has amazingly precise memories) will take advantage of that to turn the wrong into right. Nothing new here but I didn't mind.

What pissed me off the most was how unrealistic it was even for a novel with this setup.

The characters are extremely one dimensional, and it rapidly starts to become annoying because there's no surprise it's the same thing over and over again : you know that the childhood friend and the second tank will make pe*verted comments, you know that the little girl will get angry or whine, you know that the thief girl will not say anything, you know that the priest will hit on our MC and you also know that the MC will tr*sh talk each of them. And then... they will all merrily laugh (except the thief girl, remember she never say anything). Yes you read it right.

Even if they were the best players in the universe I still wouldn't want to play with them. The sad part here is that they aren't even that good (except our dear MC and the thief girl) DPS with tunnel vision that ignore fight mechanics and Healer that have zero fight awareness are nothing but subpar players. But thanks to the magic of novel they will get First Clear Achievements.

Ah ! First Clear Achievement. It's pretty straightforward, if you're the first to clear a dungeon, you're rewarded with a skill point and everyone in the server is notified of your feat. As you can guess our MC will earn some lots of them. So the entire chinese server knows that our MC has godly skills, despite of that he still has trouble to find decent players to complete his group. Facepalm.

In the end our dear MC decide that better be alone than in bad company, which is true, but you know why staying alone when you can thanks to your fame easily be "normally" accompanied ? (And I'm 100% sure that this normal company would be better than some of his current party.) Meanwhile the elite guilds are left in the dust with their elite groups composed of elite players, when our MC destroy the content of the game with his half-group.

Come on ! How balance can this game be ? This, and the fact that he keeps killing bosses way higher than his level... sigh. (OK, I can believe that some of his feats are possible because he kinda exploit bug, or exploit unintended mechanics I should say, but that's a minority.)

The c212 Ragequit incident :

Spoiler

So in this and the previous chapter they fight the last boss of a 20 player Raid in "Hardcore Mode" with the First Clear Achievement on the line. Yes, Hardcore.

Note that some of the members of his group already killed the boss in other modes.

Here is the strat : things will happen but it doesn't matter because there's ONLY ONE dangerous ability. The boss boss will teleport 4 players and will link them with a fire chain that will deal damage. The only way to remove it is to go away from one another.

OK so, 4 people will always make a squarish form, it doesn't take a genius to guess in which direction you need to go to run away from the 3 others. Yet our MC lost 12 of his group members (maybe 16 but we don't know the fate of the last 4 people teleported) because of an ability as simple as this one. Yet again, our MC still manage to have the First Clear Achievement, even with assisted team mates like that.

H A R D C O R E _ M O D E.

I can't even imagine how bad all the other players of the server are.

This was a little too much for me.

[collapse]

In my opinion, the IRL part are even worse than the rest of the novel because of how unrealistic it seems to me. I won't talk about all the different events, maybe Chinese daily interactions are like that, but I can't believe how s*upid and petty the people of the novel are.

It's sad, and it was said in other reviews but if you played WoW (especially if you played Warrior and Priest like I did) you'll notice that most of the skills are taken from it.

Another little thing that made me smile is how amazed people are when they see the MC dodge the attacks of the monsters. "God's Miracle" is an Action MMORPG, my first one was Tera in 2012 it took me two enemies to figure out that in this kind of game you can dodge everything. The story takes place in 2039 people should have even more experience than us, and even in a classic MMORPG you don't facetank everything.

(And yes, I know the story is from 2011.) <<less

Takes the MC 5 seconds upon waking up to be 100℅ sure he travelled back in time. Seriously? Wouldn't your first thoughts be wondering if you were day dreaming or experiencing deja vu? The completely unbelievable, "oh I must have time travelled back into the past" is so ridiculous that it ruins any suspension of disbelief I had.

Also, why are there so many WoW clones even in damned vrmmo novels? Is it really that difficult to come up with a different system? Makes me wonder if all these writers have... more>> actually played an mmorpg or an rpg before.

This and The Great Thief are almost as bad as one another. Copy and paste WoW dungeons, skills, characters, item and classes. One dimensional MC focused on making money in order to right the wrongs of his past life. Honestly, it's almost as if these writers are using the same template as a guide.

Why can't these writers spend one day to come up with a different system? They take plagiarism to a whole new level, it reminds me of that dark souls novel rip off on amazon. <<less

I read this for entertainment and yet finished it acquiring patience and a whole lot of tolerance. Managed to get both aspect to grandmastery and almost, almost made it to transcendent.

Every paragraph in the story, every description can be replied to by saying "duh!".
-
Item: Bazooka
Description: Can launch missiles causing tremendous damage that will turn your target to meaty particles. Absolutely overpowered weapon, designed only for the MC.
-
Every time it is used, the story will go on like this.

-
The MC used the bazooka, dealing tremendous... more>> damage to the enemy and turned the target into meaty particles. As expected of the bazooka that can launch missiles causing tremendous damage that will turn targets to meaty particles. An overpowered weapon that is made for the MC.

-

Add to that every item, every skill, every damage dealt is being explained over and over again. EVERY SINGLE TIME for the 856 chapters.

Rant vs reviews

My greatest fear is that, this story even managed to get a 5 star from people, meaning a PERFECT SCORE!!! Have we, as a civilization really has fallen so far? I only managed to finish this story after using the technique of detecting then ignoring all the mentally challenging hurdles. All those that gave this a 5 star, I dare you to read this over and over and over again, word for word, for the rest of your life. After all, you found the story perfect, right? In case you were like the author that has no sense of awareness, then highly advice you to ask for help. XD

Basically a rip off of kings avatar. First 10 chapters were good, then it sorta went downhill after he joined the parties/dungeons. Half of the next 15-30 chapters will be about other members of the party calling MC newb, but when they see how he strong of a tank he is while out damaging the dps, the idiots go full derp mode. Meanwhile there's one guy that gets especially jealous only to make an idiot of himself. Afterwards you will see the MC forming parties and getting world first while sharing loot with other people. I read up to chapter 30ish before I stopped cause it got so boring. Story has been very predictable so far.

Spoiler

The MC sure loves to give strangers items worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in rl cash, on top of that theres this new big breasted girl that always seems to get lost (while stumbling upon world bosses, whom the MC help kills) calling MC a newb and taking advantage of him, and guess what, the MC seems to actually like it. With how the author is describing the MC, he can pretty much solo anything, but yet he chooses to give others credit. If the side characters weren't so useless I would not care as much, but they're just there to either insult the MC or praise him and call him a god.

Started out mildly decent, it had some interesting pull for an MMORPG story, but eventually some flaws emerge. Some REALLY serious flaws. Let's do this in an ascending order shall we?

Like usual, these guys want to write MMORPG stories, but somehow they don't seem to have ever played one before because when the f*ck have exclusive quests/items/classes have ever been reasonable in any actual game? But then again, this applies to naerly every single MMORPG style story written by Chinese writers because who wants to read about Average Joe when... more>> you can read about the special snowflake?

Racism is present because world war type events are around, but the MC really takes the cake sometimes. Story intentionally portrays the Japanese and the Americans as complete idiots that give the MC all the opening he needs to abuse them and then kill them.

Little details like positioning, critical weak points, physics and mechanics only ever seem to apply when the MC is losing, never when winning because at that point, he can overwhelm them with raw stats anyway. Similarly, all the tricks he uses is never used by his opponents because somehow no one else ever thinks to experiment within the game so only the MC knows all the loop holes. Again, very standard trope in wuxia styled MMORPG stories. All these little loop holes allow the MC to essentially do everything solo, to the point where after chapter 100, the team is essentially just there as cutboard cutouts to show that no, this isnt a SINGLE PLAYER GAME, when he eventually needs to fight a boss that can deal more DPS than all his broken self healing/ damage avoidance skills/ unbalanced pets / summons / equipment can tank, or an event doesn't let him do it solo.

And when they DO get involved, almost every single boss fight simply turns into a matter of counting down their hp percentage after they inevitably overcome whatever trivial mechanic said boss uses via whatever special snowflake item/trick/skill that the MC managed to get against all odds.

Let's ignore the completely skewed drop rate while we're at it because if we started, we'd never finish.

Thanks to all of the above, after chapter 100, the entire goddamn story becomes meaningless because the MC will win. There is literally nothing that can overcome his raw stats, there is no other player than can pose a threat, so the plot becomes increasingly boring and mindless.

there are only three categories of men protrayed in this novel. And a grand total of 5 males who appear for longer than 5 chapters (Somehow there are god level beauties everywhere, including the NPCs, but i'll talk about this later). The first category is of course the alpha MC we have. the second category will naturally be the 2 pe*verts that never seem to be attracted to the MC's fishes, but can eternally make pe*vert jokes like the most desperate people alive. Every other guy falls in to the third category, including the last 2 male consistent male antagonists whereupon they are all, without exception, complete tr*sh/scum.

There is LITERALLY NO OTHER KIND OF GUY IN THE STORY. Last but not least : Sexualization of women. It wasn't so bad in the start, in fact i'd even say it was non-existent. Just the usual "more beautiful than any living person" white peach/lotus/nice descriptive word/jade nonsense that you find in any other wuxia.

But then somewhere down the road, around the time when he starts banging his former teacher because he paid for her mother's surgery, the descriptions about women turn really vulgar and disgusting. It also happens at least once a chapter and every woman that approaches the MC essentially becomes a giant walking pair of "badonkahonks". Literal word used by the way, and a very often one at that.

Note that this includes NPCs because apparently this is the chinese version of League of Angels. <<less

Spoiler

The thing I always anticipated from this novel is the items and skill Mc's got.

The story of this novel is predictable : get stronger, more items, more powerful skill, slap the enemy's face. Well of course there is an unexpected events like

Spoiler

Mc's decided not to pursue his previous lover, his biggest (previous life) enemy dead by his other enemy, or the ending (for me, I expect MC will conquer China or something like that)

[collapse]

For his harem, the most normal encounter is his first lover.

Spoiler

if I recall correctly there are 5, and no underage girl in his harem like some comment accused. And yes, his previous lover is not included

[collapse]

Story got flat in the middle near end. And the authors apologize because of the op'ness of MC and his plot armor in ending.

About the similarities of this novel with avatars king, I think there is no problem with it.

Overall I think this is a decent read, I don't feel any regret for completing this series.

Tentative review.

A well executed if not particularly imaginative entry in the genre of reincarnated VRMMO players trying to change their future.

The best part of this so far is that the author 1. Keeps the action moving and doesn't waste time describing the exact minutiae of every move the MC makes, and 2. Keeps the game mechanics/skills simple and easy to understand without dumbing them down too much. This allows him to focus on the what rather than the how, leaving the reader to fill in the blanks with their imagination... more>> (and isn't that a great part of reading?)

If it continues on at this level, it will be a solid 4 stars:
Worth reading if you like the genre a lot or are totally new to it, but not if you are tired of the tropes. <<less

Quickly forming harem filled with all the annoying characters you can find. All of the characters are shameless and not in the funny way.

Also wastes chapters in ALL levels of difficulty in dungeon runs so the MC keeps on fighting the same bosses over and over again.

The party members are all annoying, I wonder why the MC puts up with them.

As someone who loves this kind of genre, I am very disappointed.

The first few chapters were interesting, hower it got really bad after. I should have dropped this by then but I wanted to give it a chance.

I am now at chapter 418 and I asked myself; "was it worth it?" - NO.

... more>> Characters with no growth appearing just to stand on the sidelines. Their actions and words are always the same or similar that you can already predict who will talk next.

The comedy scenes are not funny at all. It makes you cringe so hard that you will develop wrinkles on your forehead - seriously.

Spoiler

What really got me is the introduction of robots. In a world of swords and magic a robot is still acceptable. However, it is just a waste of time if the author blatantly added the autobots and deceptions just to make the MC OP.

[collapse]

Tha MC has not failed at all. I have skipped reading half of a chapter - 3 to 6 chapters from time to time and I still understand what happened. It proves how lacking the novel is in getting you immersed.

I do not get bored with repetitive grinding.I grew up playing these kind of games. That is also why I do not easily drop these kinds of novels - this one is an exception. <<less

Currently giving it a high rating. The start of the game is VERY similar to Shura's wrath. But that's a bad thing, in fact I like it and I think it is well done. My only hope is that the progression of the story will not be like Shura's wrath which I thought became crap.

Currently on chapter 6, I recommend giving this novel a chance as it is quick to like/dislike and thus won't waste much time.

Now on chapter 28. Its stayed decent and I also noticed that it seems... more>> like a mix of Shura's wrath and Master hunter K. I won't say its a copy as I don't know when each of them was released but I'm downgrading the rating to a 4 as I feel that this isn't a perfect novel, just a good one. I must admit I liked master hunter K more than this.

Edit: chapter 48. Putting rating down to 3. Why? Because 'The cold policewoman took her time to think and then said'I'll give you a chance. If you could defeat me I'l let you go! Otherwise you'll follow me to the police station and confess your crime!" - The utter f***. This is in "real life" where a scammer tries the scam the MC. It fails and the MC beats him and his hooligans up, earning applause and respect from passersbys. Policewoman comes to arrest him for public fighting when he says it was self defense. Audience also tells her it was and then she says this despite knowing he had done nothing wrong.

There is so many things wrong with that quote from her that I just had to put down the rating. It feels so forced to further the plot/ or if it isn't to it seems so useless.

Final edit: chapter 49. I'm dropping it. Very generic story, you average chinese gaming humour

(not insulting or funny at all) but worst of all it seems to be dropping in quality. The plot is getting more boring and etc. Go ahead and read it if you want but I cannot stomach something this average when there are other much better stories to read. <<less

I don't understand the harsh reviews. I find this novel fun to read and the MC is intelligent. Not only did he go back into the past, but he makes decisions based on the fact that he's aware that if he changes things too much or does things unproperly, the future won't be the same and the stuff he knows would be essentially useless so he's both intelligent and careful.

I also like his personality, and find him to be a fun character. I think the writing is also pretty... more>> good.

This is almost completely different from TKA so I don't understand the comparison...

All you need to know is that if you're on the fence, then this is definitely worth reading. I almost didn't read it, but decided to and am glad I did. I am finding this very enjoyable, and the quality has in fact gone up rather than down, so I recommend people try it and stick around for the ride.

Edit: c 140 ish

Yeah, this got worse. Still isn't *that* bad though. But would bump my review to 3.5 stars. <<less

I give this series a star an a little for the interesting main quest in the Online World.

The quality of the translation is actually good, but the editing is not. Sometimes a paragraph is missing, sometimes we have two paragraph in one, but we can understand what the autor wants to tell.

The "real world" of this series is just so poorly written that you want to cry, the quality of the MALE secondary characters is absolutely the worst they are just reduce to a concept "the pervy"; "the fatherly figure";... more>> "the gambling snoob"; "the rival" and "the archnemesis that so bad, snoobish and rich that you want to punch him". You think I confused and that's the "online world"? Nope, in the online word they have a class...

The FEMALE side characters are reduce to a body "the b**bilicous", "the other b**bilicious", "another spit-swallowing beauty" and so on, nothing more... what that's good! Because the ones that are not in the party of the MC are the same but "s**tty" "b*tchy (in the bad sense) " "underhanded" and all the other 'bad' adjetives you want to add.

All in all, other than the MC they are all just a "reaction", "concept" or "body".

Now, the original premise was "He time-travelled because he wants to have his girlfriend back and will do anything to be at the most adventageous position so the bad-guy and her family can't do anything but acceot the relationship"... welp that all b*llsh*t, he really did time-travel, but we see that he actually forgot and move on in the 100+ chapters, I mean he was IN LOVE ENOUGH TO LITERALLY DIE with for his girlfriend and then, in less than half a year in the story, he moves on, why? because he think all the harem he has will put him before the family.

I don't say he shouldn't move on but the reason and the time was too soon and too poor.

Obviously, he is an ALPHA MALE, a MACHO-F*CKER, a TOREADOR, the MANLIEST MANLY MAN, and we'll read him f*cking, touching and harrasing beautiful and oversexualised babes. He's ego it is not the only "monumental" size thing he have, and of course, he is so hot all the babes described in the previous paragraph are waiting for him to "deflower" them (there has been only one that wasn't virg*n and, of course, it was a "bad b*tch"). Did I mention the babes he has, usually, are decendants of a big power clan?

Enough of that, let's talk about the virtual world. He has knowledge of almost everything until lvl 100, but that's also not true, because he was a lvl 100+ before his death, so of course he knows it. Supposedly he power leveled so, maybe, he shouldn't know every knot and cranny of the dungeons, level zones, secret missions, chest locations, etc etc etc. but he knows it, why? Because he read it in an interview of the game in the fifth aniversary.

He is a Guardian, as you can see in the title, but he has the damage of a DPS class, the control skills of a Control-Support and the hability to vanish of an Assassin. How? He was rewarded Skill Books. He is the faux-King of the game, I mean, if you already played 5 years and you were an A class PVP player just because your team was bad wouldn't be sad if you are not the "King" of the game? Yup, he basically bully his enemies, but don't worry they are so bad you will feel good when you'll read it. I refuse to acknowledge someone like that a true player that must be revered as a king.

The gold in the game makes no sense, first it's said the bosses and mobs don't award too much, then the all-mighty money conversion makes more gold... till there is good, but then we see them selling A LOT of thing in his store for A LOT of gold, so are all the players rich in real life?

And lastly, the other quests in the game are just a ripp-of, we have Harry Potter, Grimm's Brothers, Disney, Lord of the Rings and a bunch of more ripp-off... <<less

Hahaha! What can I say... it's grinding hell.

When battle scene starts you can just scroll down until the battle ends and you'll still miss nothing.

Plot is stagnant, it's like playing a game, worse, you're watching someone else playing MMORPG.

The story starts good with possible story lines and characters but as soon as he enters the game all you find is him exploiting that bug, kill that rare boss, get that high grade equipment which from my point of view, irrelevant in the story. It's not like you'll remember them anyway.... more>> There's no character development either. What's worse the main heroine, which drives the MC to play the game doesn't appear and all I know is her name which i've soon forgotten.

Even with 100+ chapters, even if you skip all the battle scene, which, you wouldn't miss, the story is as good as another's novel 10+ chapters since all you can see is him playing and no actual storytelling. <<less

This is a true MMORPG Novel!

Doing the same thing over and over and over and over again. Really boring, no character development, no friendship/relationship development. Just the same thing (killing enemies) endlessly.

Drizzler (Wei Yan Er) is the most annoying character ever created in the CN novels. 17 year old woman behaving like a 4 year old child. Every dialogue that includes Drizzler, will give you thoughts about dropping the whole novel.

... more>> 2 Stars -> 1 Star, thanks Drizzler.

Updated: 185

Half-Dropped...

Back to where his guild waited, Wei Yan Er cried out when she saw Zhang Yang returning. "So? Where is my horsie! Horsie! HORSIE WHERE ART THOU!"

"MINE! GIMME! MINE! MY PRECIOUS!" Wei Yan Er cried.

She is the daughter of a powerful family and expected to inherit the business of her family, she is just a greedy little kid.

This woman has "17 years old", so annoying, I can't handle it anymore.

The MC is just doing whatever Wei Yan Er (Drizzler) told to now, he can't even deal with highschool girl and even afraid of her. Pathetic. He does a lot of things for her and the ungrateful liitle kid still wants him to pay and make him responsible of everything, he is okay with that.

Wei Yan Er (Drizzler) : GIVE ME THAT ULTRA OP GOLDEN WEAPON!

MC: But that's useful for me...

Drizzler: *snort* a pity, this lady took a liking to it so it's now MINE! Oh, btw, go and get me some golden coins and get me op mounts, you should feel grateful for helping me you dumb noob tank.

MC: *nods with a smile*

Why is my review mostly focused around that annoying little girl? because she appears so often that I can call her a "Second Protagonist" and she makes the novel so boring and annoying to read that your hair will turn white. <<less

So first 2-3 chapters suck. Then get pretty good for about next 11 chapters then next 22 chapters are okay. Then whenever a new party member is gained. Add a layer of cliche sh*t on to your impression of this book. But before I talk about that I say my opinion on the other points in this novel.

Plot: genric plot C. Could not get married to loved one because not enough power to cancel her arranged marrige.

You will quickly forget about her. Just like everybody else. Because of her complete... more>> lack of influence over everything. I stoped reading about chapter 60 somthing and her name might of been brought up twice.

So to some up the plot. Shows up for 5 min then is completely forgotten about till the author rereads his notes and remembers.

Setting: genric game setting. With sh**ty game mechanics.

Characters: the worse part about the novel by far. All of the side charachters but 1 are so over the top annoying, genric, a*ses. They are completely unfunny and unenjoyable.

You have the fat pe*vert that can't shut up. Even in the middle of a boss fight. Which on numress times almost gets everone else killed, because they don't just ignore him they stop and have a conversation in the middle of the fight. Leaving the MC to fend for himself. He blows off the MC a number of times when the MC is just trying to help him and instead just ignores him to chase after some women. Moving on because I am getting pissed just remembering all the stuff that he has done.

Next is the tsundre loil. Who is nothing but a money Gruber, who acts like a 7 year old that does nothing but annoy you while insulting everybody.

The next character who I think is named snow? Is the healer in the party. She does nothing but screw over the MC and insult and make fun of the party. To the point that no one would ever like her let alone party with her. If some one makes her made. She won't heal them. She stole a few hundred gold from the MC, he just shrugged it off. She thinks that everybody is in love with her. When no body cares about her.

The last member of the part is the type of guy the even tho you know he is with fighting helping and fighting every enemy and boss with you. You for some reason still forget about him till its time to split loot. You then remember him and have feel half bad about forgetting him and half pitty him. So you give him the best loot.

I would say something about the MC but after chapter 40. He becomes nothing but a tool to level up and keep the other party members from dieing and help them get more OP

So that is what I think. Alot of theproblem I find in this story stems from. The fact that it does not translate well to a westren audience. Unlike most cliche Chinese novels where I understand the reason for the cliche and why it tured our like that. This story makes no sense. I just don't understand why it was done that way or the reason. <<less

Have no complaints about the novel. Its a more than okay restart game type setting. Certainly not the best, but I'm mature enough not to complain about originality or top tier writing when the author certainly wasn't aiming for it. At least its a skillful OP character rather than a dozens of OP equips or special classes found one after the other.

One reviewer compared it to King's Avatar, but they are nothing alike. Especially since this is vr game, MC not a top tier pro with three titles, no special... more>> weapon, no super overlooked class, this is a restart, MC trying to start not just a team but a big business as well, and the game is more complex except battle mechanics... why are we comparing this to King's Avatar again? Anyways, only thing similar I see is that they go over actual game dungeons, and this is more realistic than King's Avatar.

I later gave this a one as MC and others are disgustingly racist. <<less

Read till c652, skipped to a curiosity inducing title c786 - c793, then skipped to the last chapter.

This was bad. I got to c652 thru scrolling through the chapters until a raid is complete and they've won. Which will absolutely happen.

The characters were bad (I actually liked reviews dissing the younger cousin, it was that bad!) I mean, who in their right minds can call people who leeches off you in-game and IRL friends? Hundred guy and Daffy girl at least works legit jobs in the guild, so he pays... more>> them. Fatty? MC feeds his whole family but still complains he doesn't get enough. The cousins? They supposedly are shareholders but they needed money from MC to holdup their dying company, then they decide which house he buys while expecting that he does everything for them; cooking food and feeding them, going as the 'CEO' for their company while busting his as* in-game to earn money, and well MC is fine with it, after all that talk about him being taken advantage of in his past life (seriously, that's not what you call generous). Then the Thief girl, she's actually one of the characters who has done something for the MC, multiple times actually, getting him out of trouble everytime, but she doesn't get much screentime cause she's the 'cold and cool' girl and obviously because her bo*bs aren't as LARGE as the older cousin (please, cold and cool does not equate mute)

So yeah. No plot whatsoever (PVE? They win. PVP? They win too. IRL enemies? Duh! Of course they still win!), world building that is usually one of the corner stones of a nice MMORPG novel is absent (the open world was basically described as big, really big, really really big), character development is nil, the pervs will stay as pervs, the leechers are still leechers, the cold and cool will stay mute, and the MC? Well he's almighty. <<less
