(a) She's a member of a rare yet powerful race with a valuable artifact (and therefore a target)
(b) She somehow manages to make 3 successful young men infatuated with her/want to protect her almost immediately after meeting.
(c) She's willful and seems to think she's smart, but she's dumb as a brick. Some of it can be attributed to the initial plot setup, but this story is full of holes. I can't even bring myself to care about the fact that the MC is in trouble.
