The only reason I gave two stars is because the story is readable and had potential. (mostly for the translator)

But why is it also disappointing?

First of all The ML

He is forceful, to a high degree. I have read a lot of stories with forceful MLs but this one is too much.

Spoiler

He forces her to marry him (he doesn't really give her much of a choice actually). Doesn't listen to her when she says she isn't ready. If things doesn't go his way he either put on his sad face to make her feel guilty or throws the blame at her for making it seem as if he is 'raping her' when she doesn't have any experience and she is scared/embarrassed about how and why she is feeling like this.

[collapse]

Also, he is super controlling to the point of actually it being disturbing.

For example:

Spoiler

She was talking to someone she considers as a potential lover (Cause she just doesn't want to be with the ML) and then the ML finds her smiling and laughing with this person. He brings out the rings box (he told her to always wear their engagement rings even tho she already said no and refused to marry him) and showed it to her from afar. She remembered that he told her if he saw her without the ring he is going to propose everytime, in front of everyone. He then tells her, "come over, " and she comes running cause she is scared he is going to do that in front of her friend. Not until she is next to him did he hide the ring box away.

OH also, he acted super angry.....

.. what?

[collapse]

Second thing is the FML

She is an idiot... a snowflake almost. She doesn't clear up things which is annoying and she just let things 'flow'.

Spoiler

At first she didn't want to marry the ML but didn't tell anyone. When people mistake him as her boyfriend she doesn't say anything, but gets angry later about how everyone thinks he is her bf.

She literally admitted that she maybe has Stockholm syndrome because she can't leave him and shit. Oh she also tells him to go away one second and the next moment she calls him over......

A childhood love story of the wolf (male lead) as he cunningly sweep off all the obstacles to obtain our endearing female lead. Whether through scheming, begging, and trapping. A sweet romance that will leave you speechless and swoony.
Spoiler

Gu Tian Tian: Say, you're really shameless!
An Yin Zhu: Shameless? What's that? It doesn't belong in my dictionary.
Gu Tian Tian: I'm not your fiancee.
An Yin Zhu: Of course, because you're my wife.

Haha. Don't get it? Read it!

Plot: 3.9/5
It had a very simple storyline. The build up is kind of fast. But nonetheless it gave a clear description of the whole circumstance between the male and female lead. So if you like a sweet, witty romance with no drama, then this is it for you. Character development: 3.7/5
The male lead, An Yin Zhu lives up to his character. While I got little bit confused for the female lead, Gu Tian Tian, as she is a seemingly confident woman at first yet it turned out she has such thin skin. And in the face of our formidable male lead she owned her image of a typical teenager. Its very straightforward, and you can see the slight development as the story progressed. Satisfaction: 4/5
The novel is entertaining. It's interesting and will hook you to read and yearn more. Hotness Level: 4.1/5
It will leave you hot and bothered. *Wink* For those of you who like a little spiciness in their stories, this is your type of cake to try on. Romance level: 3.9/5
My impression of their romance is a somewhat slow and easy ride at first, then a full throttle to reach the goal. The male lead decisiveness will really make you giddy.

This is not romance, this is a romanticized abusive relationship. The controlling ML pursues the FL even though she doesn't have any reason to trust that he cares about her experience of the relationship. She's 18, he's 22, and he has always used his strength and energy to manipulate her, but they call that being close since childhood. When he is jealous of her interest in dating, he traps her with physical strength, proposes to her, and progressively sexually assaults her over time. The only reason the story doesn't label... more>> his actions r*pe outright is because he eventually stops at forcefully penetrating her with his fingers instead of with his g**itals. During the first 28 chapters, she feels justifiably ambivalent and distrustful, until the story has her develop her own possessive feelings towards him, of course. I don't know how realistic that is, but making a person feel like they have no other choices or romantic prospects is definitely something that abusers do to try to capture the focus of their abusive obsession. <<less

I was quiet disappointed on how the ML kept on pushing his feelings to the FL, and how other people that surrounded the FL does not take her side (except probably SML and the ML's mother, who although tried to stop the ML from doing whatever he likes, still helps him in the end). I mostly dislike people who try to ignore others' point of view. One of the reason I gave it a 1 rating is because I cannot accecpt this concept or theme. I believe that in a... more>> relationship, partners should try to look at each other's point of view as to not have misunderstanding and then failed relationship. Truthfully, I like the ML falling in love first themes. I quiet appreciate how not always the FL falling in love first then turn into a shoujo type girl who does not have sense of dignity and self-respect. So I always try to look for this kind of story where ML fall in love first. But it's very disappointing when ML try using LOVE as an excuse to bully FL. Their love was destructive and detrimental to the FL. So FL will always try to get away from them. <<less

Almost didn't read this after reading some of the other reviews. This story is about childhood sweethearts, where the male was a tsundere when they were younger and he also realizes that he loves her earlier on. His theory seems to be 'all is fair in love and war' as he has been keeping all possible love interests away from her (therefore, she has the feeling like she hasn't been able to experience dating etc.,). It is really not r*pey, however he uses blackmail and coercion to get his way... more>> with her. It has to be noted that whenever he backs off or is upset with her insistence that she hates him, she feels bad. I feel she would have realized she loved him on her own if he had given her the space and time. However he is in a hurry.

It is no different from a lot of other Chinese novels where the male lead is black-bellied and uses cunning and Other means to get the girl. Not everyone can like it. Is it the cutest, is it the most heartwarming? No, it is still not as bad as mentioned by other reviews. We are supposed to accept his forced loved because he really is not evil. He just loves her. <<less

I am a sucker for childhood love stories but this is quite disappointing. The ML just keeps pushing his affection toward the FL, without considering her feelings. While this can be thought of as an evidence of his strong feelings for her, for me, his approach just comes out as him forcing his feelings to be accepted.

The translation could also use a good editor.

The male lead was indeed very shameless and kept forcing the female lead. I initially thought he had become a gentleman, but he actually remained a bully.
Spoiler

I somehow don't mind he forced her to marry him, but I don't agree with forcing her to sleep with him. Even though she did like him, he should have respected her wishes and waited until she was ready.

A simple story where the male lead attempts to coerce his childhood friend into marriage, which can only be described as cute and funny on the premise that she realises she actually loves him and that they'll end up together anyway. Otherwise there'll be a lot of s*xual harassment lawsuits, restraining orders and broken friendships between the two families. Overall, it is cute and sweet enough for a romance, with the smut scenes being the main draw, but it's not particularly moving or memorable. The writing style also appears a... more>> little abrupt, making the female lead come off as more frustrated then the author probably intended, while the conversations seem more like immature bickering than playful banter. 3/5 <<less

I'm a sucker for childhood novels and I do love a good possessive ML but this was too much. This was too much for me and this is coming from someone who loves Yanderes.

A borderline abusive relationship is romanticised. I tried turning my brain off to read it but it just made uncomfortable. I don't like the ML, he's forceful amd manipulative and very, very abusive.

I'm also uncomfortable with the FL. Like she's just a little Mary Sue and seems to not be able to think or say something for... more>> herself. So no thank you. I wish I could give it lower than one star. <<less

I am sorry🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

But I can't torture myself with this any longer. The writing style is bad. And the plot is even worse. The worst is the main lead characters.

The ML is a manipulative and immature bastard. If a five year old became a creep then it would result in producing a character like ML.

As for, FL? She is a doormat through and through.

In my opinion, bothe are tr*sh. And this novel is also tr*sh. There's just nothing salvageable about it.

Oh well, this isn't a first story where I equally dislike both FL and ML.

Spoiler

ML was so forceful. I know he was frustrated by how dense FL was but still, forcefully made FL accepted his proposal just after he confessed was a bit too much. I know he already loved her for many years but she didn't know that. She didn't even know how she actually felt towards him because he didn't give her any time to think it through. Not only that, he went straightly to 2nd and 3rd base not long after he confessed.

Meanwhile, FL kept pushing ML away but when he started to distance himself from her, she got anxious and asked him to return. But when ML tried to advanve again, she pushed him away again and then regretted it almost immediately. The cycle kept repeating again and again until I want to ask FL myself what was it that she actually wanted.

[collapse]

And the ending, was it really the ending?

Spoiler

ML and FL finally got engaged but at the party, suddenly came FL's admirer who tried to crash the party. He was actually both ML and FL's childhood friend but he really came out of nowhere because the author never mention him in other chapters before.

Of course, he failed to do so and then the story ended just like that. I mean, why bother adding insignificant character right at the final chapter? It's really so unnecessary.

It's good.

I know that ML is so forceful but if you look at it, FL is the one making ML forceful. She's so oblivious and so indecisive. She says she doesn't want to but she goes along. And when ML finally backs off, she gets mad that he's mad and calls him petty. Dude, if you want him to stop liking you then give him space and don't call him and say he's petty for getting mad at your insults.

She's spoiled. ML gives her everything she wants albeit with a... more>> touch of teasing and bullying. But if you truly look at it, ML always surrenders to what she likes. And when finally ML can't contain his feelings, he takes action and it looks forceful because FL thinks like that when in truth her body does the opposite and wholeheartedly follows him.

Translation is great. A good short read. <<less
