If you are looking for refreshing to read and funny novel, then this one is certainly for you. Slow paced daily life story with fluffy character, the MC is super OP so you don't have to worry about repetitive "miraculously survived" plot armor, he doesn't need any miracle since there is nothing can harm him.

This is not typically serious action novel where the MC keeps fighting a strong opponent and experiencing near-death situation and then survived due to his sudden fantastic power-up... no! This is a story about MC... more>> who leisurely visiting various place to find some delicious meat and vegetables, playing with sand and stone, then accidentally kill a demon lord because he is throwing stone to hard. I really enjoyed this series because the author seems just to make random event with bunch of side story, but actually in the same time he puts some hints which will know the meaning in the future plot.

The only problem about this novel is there are so many character on the story. even the side character who I had already forgot will eventually re appear on the story. sometimes I read the comment section hoping there are people who discussed something I forgot. lol

Overall, I really recommended this novel for everyone except people who dislike slow paced storyline <<less

This WN started as one of my most favorite WN of all time. At least in the beginning. The story was a little slow pace. It seems to follow a pattern of

First: Do something fun socially (play with kids, cook, loli jokes)
Second: Learn something new (crafting, magic, level ups)
Third: Major event (demon lords, rebellion, promotion)

For every volume. For now, that formula would work for the first (and I'm pushing it here) 10 volumes. But even a little before that, the story goes bland and... more>> in a way too complicated. The MC keeps getting more and more side characters added to his group that now its hard to focus on the side characters we love in the beginning. They are slowly disappearing as just random 3--4 lines or something to fill in the side stories in. I get where the author is going, but it is going out of control and doing the same formula without anything world turning events in terms of character growth or story progression is not helping. Some good and bad points in the spoiler, note I'm no reviewer so its not organized like the pros and doesn't cover everything.

Spoiler

Main Character: [Good] In the beginning, I understand his need to hide his OPness to everyone. I get it. He doesn't want to stick out and get things pushed to him just because he has the power to. A very smart and nice man. I like him (at least in the beginning). Now he's getting on my nerves.

[Bad] Oh man, where do I begin, as you continue on to the story he creates alter egos so he can do stuff like "save the country" which was simple at first. Now he has like I have no idea how many secret identities for each category of his needs (one to be an OP warrior/crafter that owns a company, another that is a kingdom's hero, another name for when he sells his crafted jewelry, another for when he engineers some new magic or something, the list can keep going). It gets really bad to keep track at this point it is so confusing. How he refuses every offers from nobles and kingdoms are starting to get on my nerves. I mean even the other characters are so annoyed they force him anyways to join the ranks. He's a straight up liar! (Spoiler within a spoiler), many people have told him and hinted how the world works, so the girl he loves told him "do your duty as a human and make babies" (I know not ideal in ours, but I get it in this world's culture). He says "Sure" and in his mind he like "F that shit, I won't sleep with girls who love me and make babies, i'll just pay for s*x when I get h**ny but not make babies" Now he really doesn't say the s*x service part but he has took part in it in the past.

Side Characters: LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM. Someone mentioned it before but yes, Pochi is life and is the only reason I'm still reading this.

First I don't see why people hate this web novel so much!!?. It has slice of life tag you people, open and see with your God da*m useless eyes. He just wanted to enjoy his otherworld life as he wishes and what is wrong with that?.

If you hate food stuffs so much, then don't read slice of life novels. What do you expect from SOL novels? Do you have a life only filled with action scenarios and no sleeping and eating and other ordinary everyday stuffs!!?

The people shouting justice so... more>> loudly, if you get transferred to unknown world so suddenly, will you just jump into justice stuff without caution and without knowing anything!? Don't BULLSH*T you HYPOCRITES.

You can shout justice all you want but when it's becomes reality you hypocrites will definitely run with tails between your legs.

About his God like powers and why he can attain them easily are explained in the final Arc. About the RPG system, it has decently explained in the final Arc too. If you want complaint, read completely you dumb idiots.

About his Harem, not everyone is falling for MC and he also not a pe*verted dog to put his hands on anyone. He relieves his libido by going to brothels because He loves his companions as a family and they are all looks young for him so he felt bad for putting his hands on them. AND he truly loves only one of them as his life partner. What is wrong with that morales!!?.

He is mentally 30 years old and he clearly defined he like old matured women, then why are you mad dogs upset about not putting his hands on lolis!?.

If you gentlemen only prefers lolis but your surrounded only with older women like some Saga empire hero, So do you still fu*k them cuz they loved you and you have no choice!!? Are you a spineless h**ny dog or what. Be clear with it you hypocrites.

The reason he wants to hide his powers are mainly because he wants to enjoy his second life and to avoid bothersome things. And you pe*verted mas*chistic people loves bothersome things right!!?

Later when his traveling companions increased he mainly hides his powers to when ill natured someone targeting him or his companions, instead of his companions he wants to be their target by underestimating him so that his companions won't be harmed until they have strength to hold onto their own.

What, do you Pe*verts still wants to show-off your powers even while your family might get hurt before you stabilize your position in an unknown world!!!?. Stop with your Bulls*it's.

He is not Saint or hero of justice. He was just an average programmer you idiots. They don't gave him a mission to save everyone and he has no obligation to do so. He is just average guy, doesn't like gore stuff, doesn't want kill humans because HE IS NORMAL HUMAN, not your edgelord pe*verted psychopath who likes to Kill People. But he is not some spineless beta MC. He clearly deals with his enemies, he really doesn't wants unnecessary kills.

For example

Spoiler

When zaikuan bullied aze, Satou clearly beat the sh*t out of him.

When pochi transferred to the weasel empire, he tracked down the mastermind but couldn't track down the Main body, but clearly warned the Saga emperor and the emperor scared shitless for days and ultimately dethroned from being the emperor.

[collapse]

Its not like he doesn't take revenge or something. And he kill the one's he absolutely have to kill. Like

Spoiler

Demon lords cannot be reasoned with and Goddess Parion.

[collapse]

The ending is slightly unsatisfactory but overall it's a good slice of life story packed with power fantacy, action and adventures and I have not many complaints. Those who are not reading, atleast give it try. It's one of the not bad for heart and good for light reading. Light novel have the same story line with Web novel but with different encounters and plot lines. And latest light novels have complete new characters and scenarios too. In Light novels some of vague stuffs that are not clearly defined in the web novel are explained more detailed and world building are clearly elaborated than web novel.

I personally hate some heart wrenching dark stuffs and NTR stuffs. I mainly prefer feel good type stories and this story is one of favorite feel good type one.

I won't say this story is amazing but it's not something worth 1 or 2 stars. Don't bother the negative comments just give it a try guys.

Finally sorry for english. I am not a native speaker. <<less

Every one who says it is a good story but I will tell them to f*ck off why because I haven't read such a half assed story for a while.

If it wasn't for shutdown due to corona virus break I would haven't even dare to finish it to the end

They atleast should have told more about akon kagura and satou relationship. how or why she became dragon god when the met why she was so interested in him but it was a sh*t web novel.

MC is overpower... more>> but he won't kill humans and even save those who hurt him or his companions he goes about killing demon lord and gods in which fact former where once humans he contradicting himself. If you are not killing anyone than don't also kill Demon lord and etc

Yet another stereotypical Japanese protagonist who is incredibly overpowered but wants to avoid any and all recognization. The only reason to read this is to see what kind of food the Main Character chooses to make on this slice of life web novel.

The main problem with this story is that nothing ever really happens. Problems are solved as effortlessly and easily as they suddenly appear. There are no interesting fight scenes, or satisfying character growth, or interesting gotcha moments. It's just MC goes to a new city, things happen in... more>> the new city, MC leaves for another city, repeat forever. The MC is also a 29 year old computer programmer that accidentally genocides the entire valley of elder dragons right after he goes to the fantasy world making him Lv. 300+. He is almost 5 times the level of even the strongest previous legendary Heroes.

You'd think oh levels then he'll have interesting abilities! Nope, in this story, you get 10 points per level up (Only for the MC, other people get less) and every skill is on a 0 to 10 rating, where 10 is extreme mythic level. Not to even mention how boring every skill is, from close listening, bargaining, to spear, sword, cooking, just really boring mundane abilities that the author doesn't even bother keeping track of and there are a ton of them. This web novel gets a 10/10 in being as boring as watching paint dry. The MC pretty much maxes everything he can. I don't even know how many points he has remaining because the story doesn't even care about its world's rules or limits. Why would I as a reader care more about the story than the author? Why would I continue reading a story that goes nowhere, with no real tension or threats at all? Even demons who can wipe out entire kingdoms are maybe level 40~60 to give you an idea of how powerful and effortlessly the MC will defeat all his enemies. The worst part is the constant parade of women (most of them either physically or mentally underage 11-14) throwing themselves sexually at the MC because he had the bravery to treat s*aves like a human being. It pretty much happens every single chapter after the initial story arc, so unless you enjoy reading about multiple 11 to 14 year olds trying to have s*x with a 29 year old man every chapter for hundreds of chapters I'd avoid reading this.

For a fake merchant who just wants to travel the world living a laid back life, I was expecting more... merchant skills, nonphysical difficulties/challenges, or character development. I would've loved it if they made it all about cooking, that also works. This story has none of that, he's pretty much King Midas everything he touches becomes gold and goes his way almost instantly and effortlessly. In fact, most of the time, the only obstacle to getting something done is because the MC just doesn't want to do it because he finds it to be too troublesome. Oh, his only flaw is being unable to use normal magic but he can make scrolls that are just as good, usable by anyone, and worth an insane amount of money. Also from him killing that valley of dragons he has a ton of legendary weapons, more money than most kingdoms, magic laser guns (Yes I'm serious), he can even run faster and longer than a galloping horse, he's pretty much the most powerful and rich person/nation the world has ever seen.

I don't understand how anyone can defend this MC, he is so devoid of any character, passion, drive, or desires. He even treats saving people like its a huge burden. What the hell else is he going to do? Hell, he doesn't even bother to put in the effort to set his large underage s*ave harem free even after talking about how he abhors s*avery. There is no plot, the story goes nowhere, he's afraid of people knowing his true strength so prepare for a bunch of hamfisted attempts of pretending to be a normal weak merchant. Of course, every woman falls in love with the MC after a short chat and every other characters' only role in the story is to lavish the MC with compliments. The MC is a self insert Gary Sue and I wish I could fall asleep under my desk and never wake up or if some comets could hit me so I can finally forget all about this poorly written story. <<less

My favourite Novel ever.

I actually started reading Web Novels thanks to Death March and even after 16 volumes it continues to give me that fuzzy, warm feeling.

Its secondary characters are mostly well written and the intermissions and side stories make most of them tridimensional, the main cast evolves and grows without, however, losing itself; and Satou.

Satou is the Miracle Chef, Tourist as a main job and Demon Lord Slayer as a part timer. He loves cooking, but the Author manages to not making the chapters heavy with it, often relegating... more>> the full time cooking to the intermissions.

I could probably write for an hour about what I like, but then I'd probably spend the next 3 deleting and re-writing it because I'd feel it's not enough well written, so I'll keep it short.

A fantasy slice of life with an op MC, with fuzzy warm feelings, with some of the typical tropes of the Isekai genre, bur in a well written way.

I love it. <<less

This series is enjoyable, not great, but enjoyable enough--that is, if you can read past the first volume, which is complete nonsense.

But, putting aside the first volume which is way too rushed and incoherent, there are 3 major problems with this series:

  1. The MC, even though he's literally the most powerful person on the planet, he still has that Beta-Jap personality; I don't want to stand out too much. As a result, his s*aves who he personally trained take credit for all his greatness (through the MC's own design), while the rest of the world just considers him a frivolous s*ave owner who mooches off of his s*aves accomplishments. Moreover, the MC's sense of morality is lacking in logic. The MC is in the body of a 15-year-old, and he's followed by a s*ave girl who's 14 years old and is absolutely in love with the MC (for good reason), but he says: No, I'll at least wait until she turns 18, it's immoral to have a relationship with her at this age, but then in the same chapter he'll go visiting brothels like it's no big deal. Somehow that's how his sense of morality works, to forsake an innocent girl who loves him and has nobody else in the world to rely on for the sake of a prostitute. ugh
  2. The cooking, so annoying. The author describes, in excruciating detail, every single damn meal the guy eats. The story is supposed to be a Fantasy Action/Adventure but there's more information about the food than about the actual plot. Somehow it's like I'm reading Shokugeki no Soma.
  3. The skill system is bugged. Some things like Magic and Magic Resistance I can understand, but somehow you can't become proficient at everyday things like cooking, arithmetic, or even talking to people, unless you allocate skill points to it? And you can't obtain skill points unless you beat monsters and level up? How did society function in this world before the MC came along, I wonder?
The Pros:

Tami and Pochi are cute af... That's about it. I'll give it one star for that, and another just because I particularly enjoy Isekai novels.

This is one of my favorite novels among the numerous stories listed on this website. The lead characters are memorable, and most are likable. It's hard to read novel after novel of arrogant or gritty protagonists in xianhuan that trudge through days of slaughter and brutality, so for me, this is a great break from those. If you're coming in hoping it to be full of action or plot, this is not for you. This novel does have an interesting story, and there is some action here or there, but... more>> most of the novel is just peace and happiness. Expect slice of life and cute things.

(Note: If you start the novel and enjoy it, be sure to read the intermission chapters and short stories at the end of volumes [the first few volumes don't have intermission chapters]. Some of them contain information key to the plot.) <<less

It's sad to see people take this so seriously. Even worse, those same people will give stuff like [A Step Into the Past] and [Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou] a good rating and review because of the "realistic characters."

This is not meant to be taken seriously at ALL, it's a light-hearted easy to read novel. With a shallow plot meant to be viewed as a slice of life. The OP characters are nothing more than a plot device the author created to get rid of any uneasy and dark drama.... more>> Because without it, this world would be horribly dark. The s*aves, especially the women and demi-human s*aves are used to satisfy nobles lust and greed, that is all.

But since Satou is so OP that doesn't matter at all, if he wanted he could essentially rule the world, only the gods have enough strength to challenge him. So where is the drama? There is none! That's the whole point. If you can accept that, you'll love this novel, if not, go read a dark fantasy that has unnecessary amounts of r*pe and NTR.

As for the women throwing themselves at Satou, I find it funny and cute, because most are little loli's, so his harem is basically him being the parent/big brother.

And no he isn't a dense whiny MC if you're looking for one you won't find it here. That point alone makes this a great Japanese novel. <<less

This is slice of life in a magic world novel rather than a action adventure one. Everything about this novel makes me want more. I usually hate loli chars but this novel makes me give exceptions multiple times. MC is not s*upid, naive, warmonger. Just cool.

So much early promise... but it was disappointment, wrapped in a popular genre.

The beta boy MC is not "rare" by any means (WTF is wrong with japans writers? Are they seriously see their own young one like that? It bloody every where...)... Why would you drop your MC in RPG style world and give him godly powers and actively try and avoid to use it? Why gave him in the first place? It turned me off.... Im not gonna go on plenty been said by those before me.... I don't know why people criticized way too much about the novel that is not interesting for them. For me, this novel has a good plot and the author has developed every characters very well, even with side characters. I enjoy reading both WN and LN of the series and following the adventure of the MC. If you don't like it from the beginning, just get out and read your favorite novel. I was originally planning to rate it 4 stars despite the MC has a disgusting monologue to be specific he wants to remunerate everyone even strangers to him and do him bad things he still likes to do them good. I am not gonna be shocked if he ignores them or stop saving them which he did to some people but that's a minority. My point is this MC who is stuck up on being goody two shoes is a BIG hypocrite I'm not saying that it is bad but... more>> too much of that without reason for plot convenience sake and it's gonna make me puke rainbows for him doing saintly martyrly and dumbly. Gods in that world has better personality than he is. The author is good at writing details of the story but when it comes to personality and interpersonal relationships skills is kind of lacking BUT it is still ok for me to read this through the end. When I finally at Volume 16 things get bland, his monologue started to suck and the harem speech lines are very predictable and redundant but I still continue reading until I get to read V16C36. Which is the MC is getting forced to have a relationship tie with earl seiryuu. He could have avoided it. He says he doesn't want to have anything to do with that aerl seiryuu and now I see again his hypocricy activating. He could've told hikaru which is also known as the ancestor king yamato and tell the king about it anonymously, but yeah he didn't. Which is why after I read through all these chapters I will finally stop reading this story full of hypocricy, lack of complex relationship, bland conversations etc.. I don't want to list it all. But most importantly of all he is in love with "aze" or "aialize" the high elf and he is attempting to ascend to godhood for him and aze to be together. So what's the point in going around announcing everywhere he is engaged to girls. He even doesn't want to commit to the princess sistina because he is in love with "aze". I know it's just a story but it lacks some sort of realism to this jumble up relationship trying to make a harem but fails to interpret it in a good way. From the girls and fiancees who is in love with him and from a point of view of a third person it looks painful to look at the girls or should I call it his harem is in love with him but he is not even looking at them in a romantic way unlike "aze" which he deeply yearn for.

So let's wrap this review up. I am a fan of pure romance. Even if there is a harem it's ok if the characters and situations interpreted it splendidly but here in this novel it fails and sink to bottom so it's a negative 1 star here.

2nd the thought process of the MC of the beginning is normal. If a normal person who knew about novels, manga, or anime with transported and reincarnated to another world would react to the way the MC did. I approve of that. Then he goes to next town and everything falls into place splendidly but after volume 10 the MC starts becoming more of a hypocrite. Yeah he has powers and all. He could save the suffering while he is on his way to tour around the world it's ok but even the bad guys and bad people doing bad to him and rude people he still saves them then let them be executedby the governing kingdom. He says he doesn't want to see people to kill each other but he still go. He could've prevent it while disguising himself but no, he let them kill each other for the sake of incognito in front of him. At volume 16 it got worse through the roof that it fails to building personality and appeal. It should suppose to appeal to readers what he is doing is good and saintly but it only does to me is making vomit rainbows at it for being not human personality. Maybe if he is real I could study his brain and find out what could be wrong with it. But it's not real, such a disappointment. Now back to the topic. For short the MC is a big LIAR or should I say hypocrite cause he didn't say it, he just thinks about it. For the last example = He let's his harem retreat their airship from a naval battle to not let them see people killing each other but it's ok if it's not people or used to be people and people getting killed by used to be people then it's ok for him to see. GREAT negative 1 star and stops at reading.

That's my experience in this novel. But its fun to read until volume 10 so I recommend this but not volume 11-16 or onwards. I suppose the author just ran out of ideas or some editor mess with the story so this novel is going to the path of ruining itself until it ends the story. Goodluck to the ones who read through this review and finish it. <<less

Not really sure why this novel is rated so high. Many people complain about how rough the system is, and while I agree completely, this isn't my main reason for disliking this novel. The problem lies, primarily, with the MC. This utterly overpowered MC is completely useless. I stopped reading directly after the fight with the demon because the MC somehow struggled to fight something he 250 levels above. Not to mention the fact the he struggled to even convince himself to fight, even though it presented no danger whatsoever... more>> to himself. This novel appears to be one riddled with frustration due to the sheer incompetence of the MC and the author's failure to correctly use the system of his own creation. <<less

Best slice of life novel, adventure isekai I've ever read. I pity the people who drop this series. Please read until Volume 7 before you review/judge. The story will got interesting after volume 5. I got bored at first too because the story is slow (Because vol 1-5 is like the introduction of the story and the characters) But keep reading it. The hype starts at vol 7, after that I promise you wouldn't drop this series. Dropping it because you read the first 6 volumes and you find it... more>> uninteresting is s*upid. It's more s*upid to drop this series when you got at the end of vol 7 or more. This story is long, so keep your time reading it.

If you find it boring, just keep reading I promise it will be fine in the end. This is a 15 volume novel at the present. And the translation is just one day late from the raw. The raw release every sunday (except when the time the author is really busy and we have to wait for two weeks) Patience in reading is the key in finding the greatness of this novel. <<less

I understand that I did not read much to get a better view of the story but I just couldnt take it anymore of forcing myself to continue. Like I understand that people will probably assume that I read a bit and started spouting bullsh*t about the story... but you have to understand the first chapter of this novel was the biggest bullsh*t you will ever read... and let me explain what happened... the MC arrived in a new world and somehow created a meteor strike (out of fuc*ing nowhere)... more>> killed sh*tloads of different creatures including a god and instantly levelled up to lv.3000 something... I would not care about it if it was explained within the entire 1st volume about how he managed that bs... but nope it is not it just happened and we are meant to understand that as logic, then he walks about gets millions of different skills just by doing simple things... like although it may be seen as being on easy difficulty and I wouldnt complain about those simple skills that he acquired by doing simple things, but how the f*ck do you explain a meteor strike as an easy skill to grasp? and then it went on and on until
Spoiler

he got himself two lolis and a normal looking girl just because... and he decided to raise them like pets...

I mean if it just had a bit of sense, like people bash xianxia because of s*upid reasons like filler, harem or something else but IMO this is the biggest bullsh*t I have ever encountered from the beginning of reading light novels... <<less

First of all, Do Not read this Novel if you are looking for some action, battles or some sort of epic story.

This is meant to be a very light hearted tale of an over powered Main Character. Give it a try read 3 - 4 chapters and decide if it's for you or not. Don't just tr*sh on the novel if it doesn't cater to your needs, it appeals to me and I am completely addicted to it. This is a piece of gem, I have read many light novels... more>> and it's pretty damn good in what its trying for, meaning light hearted entertainment.

So guys just give it a try for a few chapters and decide for yourself. <<less

For starters, this novel is a bliss. Laid back MC, traveling the world in search of sights. Sounds generic, I know. However, it starts way more epic than other summoned/reincarnated stories.

Trust me, this one will have you restlessly clicking that F5 button when you see the progress meter going up on Sousetsuka. I'm already hopelessly addicted, with no chance of rescue, so see for yourself if you can live the terror that is Satou.
