Villains...

What is the nature of such a character?

They are malevolent, exemplify Machiavellian traits, devoid of mercy, and well-crafted ones possess intricate motivations for their actions.

However, what if I were to tell you that we have been deceived? Yes! Deceived! Hoodwinked! And bamboozled. Most villainous novels nowadays claim their protagonists are cunning criminals. But their characters are far from that. Instead of malevolence, they practice benevolence and show understanding towards their friends and allies. Rather than pursuing classical Machiavellian schemes, they shun exploiting others solely for personal gain and seek enduring... more>> relationships. Instead of ruthlessness, they are portrayed as misunderstood paragons of their era. And, in my opinion, the most egregious offense is that they are mere caricatures of the hero archetype with only a ruthless façade. They claim to have grandiose visions, yet they are driven by base and lustful desires for the members of heaven's harem.

Well, allow me to present you the antidote to novels such as "I am the Fated Villain" – a scholar who deftly manipulates the tapestry of fate, leaving an indelible mark on the Immemorial Heavens.

Contains an unapologetic protagonist who stays consistent throughout the eras! <<less

Great Novel, MC is much much better than 'I am the fated villian' while he doesn't have everything in control since he rises from a prince of small kingdom but he is ruthless enough and has no emotional attachment all people and everything present can be exploited to increse his strength, not boring like other novels with repeated troupes instead its always exciting how he destroys his enemy step by step while strengthening himself at the same time, not a hypocrite for himself he even sacrifices millions of people. Before spoiling anything, I will just mention it, he is evil and cold, rational and calculative. Anything you wonder about is poisonous in this novel, don't worry. it won't be. Sooner or later, it will be solved with an explanation. So everything has a reason. OK.

MC is evil, cold, cruel, no romance at all, so no chance of a harem.
How evil? well I will say, he is arrogant [ which might be a bit poison ], he is a bit moody too, he is also like a madman sometimes [ but these things don't happen often ]
So MC is Calm, Rational, Calculative, a Great Schemer, and Smart.... Most of the time. [ like, 9.5/10 ]
But still, sometimes some things happen that u might question. So I will say, ignore those small problems/poisons.

I will not give too much info. Just know this, it's a good book, if you like FFF Class tr*shhero, but want to see a MC who doesn't have romance and is also evil.
Protagonist Hunting and the plot regarding it are very well done.

This is a villain novel and, though not a 10/10, the plot seems to be entertaining. The MC doesn't have scruples so he is a true villain.

The only caveat I dislike is that the MC has a system and it is overpowered imo tending to make this less realistic and more wish-fulfillment fiction.

P.S. The translator is very based. Translation very good.

TL;DR: The epitome of wish-fulfillment and self-insertion by a very s*upid and very mentally ill author.

Before judging the amount of chapters completed, this post will give specific examples of why it was given this rating.

To start, the positives.

... more>> There is an interesting cultivation system, where it seems that unique and unseen methods of gaining strength are present, in contrast to the basic "sitting in a lotus position" cultivation. An example of this is the main character's Bloody Poisonous Acupoint, which is reminiscent of the Gu system.

There seems to be some attempt at proper and distinctive world-building, instead of copy-pasting from other established novels. For example, the royal family owns the second most-wanted and evil cult.

Lastly, the concept itself is very interesting and could have led to a great story.

That is all for the positives, and I will continue with the much longer list of negatives.

The main character is portrayed as this extremely evil protagonist who is willing to do anything for his goals, no matter how low. However, it seems the author never even attempted to explain why this is. Before transmigration, the MC was a completely ordinary man, one plagued by illness if I remember correctly, but nothing that would explain his extreme evil. Even the body he transmigrated into has no tragic past or other reason to want strength and authority.

The author tried to give a sad backstory for the prince at least, but even that fell flat. He attempted to say the poor third prince, who the main character transmigrated into, wasn't supported by any organization and had the cultivation resources of someone at the second major cultivation realm despite being a prince. His hatred for this situation is so intense he feels the need to get revenge on his maternal family, while his mother is a literal courtesan with no power or resources to give him. But... it isn't even true. The third prince literally owns an organization with 4 people at the fifth major realm, 32 people at the fourth major realm, and thousands below that.

His backstory not being tragic wouldn't really matter in most situations, but he is so over-the-top, comically evil. He is the kind of guy that authors create when they need someone for the protagonist to kill. An example, immediately after the MC transmigrated, he ate a meal composed of uncooked bloody rats and water infused with blood.

Now we get onto the main problem. This is so clearly a wish-fulfillment story, and specifically a wish-fulfillment story of someone who never grew out of their chuunibyou phase.

Let me preface this with saying I love dark or evil protagonists like RI or even Ascending the Heavens as an Evil God. The reason I dislike this one so much is the, frankly, very poor work by the author.

This is shown in multiple ways even in the first five chapters. Beyond the fact that the author cannot give any reason or motivation for the main character's personality, there is the simple problem of the author not knowing how to write an evil MC. He just talks about blood and grinning cruelly and posing soooo cool-like that everyone has an "air of deference" when facing him (the author wrote that at least a dozen times in the first 5 chapters.)

For example, the main character is tasked with killing this person at the first major realm of cultivation, while he is at the fifth. This is literally the equivalent of a Soul Formation cultivator needing to kill a Qi Refining cultivator. It is simple and straightforward, right? Yeah, right.

The main character starts by capturing this Qi Refining cultivator's woman, and then raping and torturing her. I am not leaving anything out either, that is exactly what happened and it also was completely pointless. Sure, the Qi Refining cultivator had a protagonist halo and this was supposed to diminish it, but even after he still had the halo! And he was still powerless against the main character!

Lastly, the main character's system seems to have the power of "whatever the author feels like." It is originally said to take protagonists' halos and convert them into currency which could be turned into anything in the system shop. However, when the MC visited a Scripture Hall, it suddenly had the power to read books instantly for the main character? While this is something small, it is clearly a bad premonition for what is to come.

One other note about the system, even the system itself has "deference" to the main character! It is a sentient system, has a groveling attitude, and calls him "Master." Just a small thing that really showcases the wish-fulfillment of the author.

Now, despite this horrid writing and poor author-work, this could potentially get better later. Perhaps there will be retconning, and perhaps the author will learn how to write an evil main character. However, for now, three stars is already the very limit of what it deserves. If I continue to read this, I will update this review accordingly. <<less

Tbh, I never read protagonist with this chara. Compare to other villain MC, Murong Lin just beyond their league, human literally worst than ants. Killing millions of people without reason. I swear this MC will be the worst villain in those "righteous" novels.

I like the story the protagonists here isn't weak that MC killed them in one move. MC need to use his brain to destroy the protagonist halo. Some of those protagonist do escape from Murong Lin's plot and scheme.

Uhhh what's up with the synopsis?why is it so misleading

Like any other chinese novel, the character in this novel suffer from having too much ego and also a little bit s*upid because of it.

the MC? Yeah he's ruthless and cunning I guess. That's allowed because the situation he's in where the strong eat the weak.

there's one time when MC leaked his info accidentally (?) and the author went nowhere with it, which is weird

Finally find something that pique my interest! And a good one indeed!

MC wears such a high quality villain, I've never seen one since Reverend Insanity. Finally found this gem, I am truly happy 😄

I prefer this kind of MC than a good and a meek one 😆

I am desperately looking for evil MC stories where MC does not simp, does not act lolrandumb, does not altruistically self harm for The Greater Evil, and is not a moron. But rather an MC that is simply aiming at his own benefit only. Those are incredibly rare.

This story can join the short list of such fics. The MC is a little cunning too.

The main problem with this story is suspension of disbelief. The system is just handing him massive organization of fanatically loyal powerful people that it pops out... more>> of thin air.

There is also a multicross that damages suspension of disbelief. He has a system shop, and when he asks "where are XYZ from stories ABC" the system tells him that only items native to the current universe can be bought. However, while he cannot use system shop to buy such items, he can get them from random system rewards.

I am barely maintaining my interest in this story. <<less
