Kaleidoscope of Death

It started off peculiarly; first, his domestic cat refused to let him cuddle it.

Lin Qiushi soon found that a sense of disharmony and incongruity began to pervade everything around him.

Then, one odd day, he pushed open a door, and he discovered that the hallway he was familiar with turned into a boundless corridor.

At both ends of this corridor were twelve, identical iron gates.

He pushed one of the doors

Thus, the story begins.

Ruan Nanzhu said to Lin Qiushi, “When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss will also gaze back into you.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Qiushi sank into deep contemplation. He then pulled down the zipper of his trousers and aimed at the abyss…

Ruan Nanzhu: “…Put your pants on properly!”

Super shameless, ill-pampered gong X Shameless, calm shou; a combination of double [or extreme] shamelessness.

I really love every world inside the doors because the events or ideas are unique. I also love the irl world they have because of different people, side characters rathers, that MC meets. The only thing that really upsets me is the ending, I like the worlds they have gone to, including 11, I also quite like the twist at the end to be honest but the ending as well as the extras really disappoints me a bit because it feels like it seemed abrupt like the author just really... more>> wants to finish the story by adding that kind of twist at the end. Seriously, when I read the ending and the extras, the story just takes a part of me which feels like half of my soul is gone. I know it seemed exaggerated but that's what I'm really feeling right now.

I truly respect the authors ideas for the story and I also know that they cherish it as well but still, I'm really not satisfied with it. There's a lot, like a lot of holes in the story that the readers needed an answers to like why the sudden change at the end? Or why the doors exist? and many more that you can see in others' reviews.

Anyways, I still gave it 5 stars because I truly like the story to the point where I didn't do anything else beside eating, laying down in my bed, and binged reading this story and to the point where my mother got mad at me for not doing our clothes 😂. I love the worlds, the comedy in it, the pure souls in it especially qianli, I love the plot (but minus to the ending and extras hehe), the characters, the drama (which really made me cry... damnit), and of course the stable and perfect romance (HE). So yeah, I think all of that are enough for me to make the stars as 55555/5. No less but yes more... <<less

I definitely recommend this novel !!! The plot is unique and really scary. Well I get scared easily but it really got me on edge... In my opinion the MC personality was great, even tough some people might find it plain. Rnz and Lq chemistry was really good !!! The direct interest is a bit strange (explained later) but it didn't look forced to me

Towards the end I litteraly cried so much, the fright is less present with the last couple doors but the emotional side is here: more about... more>> their feelings, backgroung...

Spoiler

As for the 11/12 door I think it was a good conclusion to the doors. They had to have something special not to fall in the scary pattern doors with nothing new. I found it great that we could see all the people who died again and the night setting with them getting less and less time made me bawl : ((

[collapse]

About the plot twist, I do think the novel could have ended before it but the idea was still good (but rushed) but still good

Spoiler

The fact that all of the doors we've seen were in fact just the 12th door was chef's kiss

[collapse]

Well this is for sure a good novel !! Give it a try !! <<less

Simply put. I got scared. Elements from real life get put into this story.

10/10 because we got a cross dressing. That’s it. You should read it because it has a man with a big dong in female clothing :)

PSA: To get the complete story, you HAVE to read the FIRST EXTRA!!!

Absolutely gripping! This is a survival game story set in a world of horror and (lots of) gore with some romance.

Premise: When you are near death, you are invited to the world of the doors. Each door is a world with its own set of rules and dark creatures. You must solve the puzzle to escape the door world. When you pass a door, you gain extra time in your real life. If you die in the... more>> door world, you die in real life.

The MC is one of those quiet but smart and steady characters. The ML is a unique character who has different personalities inside and outside the doors. I enjoyed the gradual progression of their relationship as the CP go through the doors, but it is a pretty slow burn - the MC is slow to realize his feelings and there really isn’t much time for romance as they’re fighting for their lives in each door which takes up most of the plot.

Each door is like a mini arc so if the gore gets to be too much, you can break this novel up into a series of short stories to read. I also found it really cool that most of the worlds are actually based on an urban legend or ghost story.

Based on other reviews, I know that some readers were unhappy
Spoiler

with the unexpected world of the 11th door. I do understand their disappointment as we all thought this high-level door would yield an even scarier monster than the lower-level doors, but I also thought it was interesting how the author chose this twist. Living in a world without each other was an even more frightening prospect than facing ghosts and monsters for both the MC and ML. That’s my take.

ok, author did a good job, I was ok with other horror bl but this one just gave me the chill from ch1 until last! Good job author! Anyhow, I found this plot to be confusing and meaningless at the start until the middle but from middle to last especially the EXTRAS, I found it very plot twisting and mind blowing and most amazing of all reality just hit me again with the "this kind of love only exists in books", I'm left alone with even thicker layer of never... more>> ever fulfilled standards *sighs*

Last episode extra -> must read at all cost!

I never would have imagined that a gardener would one day want to be a flower too just because of his love for the flower, so if he loves you for real, why wouldn't he sacrifice the whole world JUST for you? Time to think again my dear people. <<less

10/10 stars

Very good novel, I started reading this about 3-4 days ago, and I finished the novel today, (currently on extra chapter 2.)

... more>> I saw another review saying "the ending didn't make sense", or "all the doors meant nothing to the plot/development."

And I have to disagree, it is stated from when the MC got out of the first door, that his main goal is to complete all twelve doors to survive. Not only is a main goal established, there are also mini plot developments in the middle that slow down the 12th door plot point.

The world building was very good, I liked how even though they entered life threatening doors, they also allowed the characters to come back to their original world, to have breaks and stuff. It created another kinda space were something new could happen in the plot, and it wouldn't just be going into deadly games 24/7. The author also created a place for other new things to happen, thus the development of MC joining obsidian and meeting more people. It also helped with what was going to happen once MC left the doors, and what he was going to do after.

In the reviews someone had said:

"It doesn't even matter if you skip a few arcs, it doesn't involve any plot developments."

Which I also disagree on.

Not only is this a horror/action novel, it is also a Romance novel. Going into the doors doesn't just mean development for the characters strength, it means development of the MC and ml. Each door they went through, the relationship improved.

The doors/arcs were each very interesting, The author made sure that the readers shouldn't take their eyes of the screen, because even zoning out of a minute would result in us missing something important or interesting.

This story has the perfect amount of Horror, Comedy, Romance and action.

The Dialogue is perfect.

The Gorey stuff is perfect.

The Comedy is perfect.

The Action is perfect.

The romance is perfect.

Even the side characters were perfect.

Everything about this novel was very good. Though I do have mixed feelings about the ending, it definitely wasn't bad, i'd also say it was very good, I think the reason some people are complaining, is because they were maybe expecting a different ending.

I also saw a review saying the MC was a bit "boring" which is something I also disagree on.

Anyways I definitely recommend this.

EDIT:

I do agree that the author could of made the giant plot twist in the 11th door a bit better with the foreshadowing.

(Although we do get little snippets of foreshadowing like ML being interested in MC the second he entered the first door, or how the MC is described to be born for the doors.)

Like, with a plot twist that big, the author should've foreshadowed it better. Some people feel that the giant plot twist came out of nowhere and it was kinda sh*t bc of the lack of foreshadowing, which I also kinda agree on.

I feel like the author tried really hard to make the ending seem so surprising and unexpected which is kinda what happened but not in the right way. I personally feel like if you want to create a crazy plot twist ending, you HAVE to make sure the foreshadowing is perfect, You don't have to give too much away, but don't give too little either. If the author added a bit more foreshadowing in the middle to end I think it would've been really good, but overall the entire novel was incredible anyways. <<less

If we're ignoring the extras (don't downplay the other reviews on how unneeded the extras are which are quite literally too extra. Personally just going to pretend it's unofficial and a spin-off world)...

This novel is fabulous. Glorious. Spectacular. Amazing. Hear me out okay! Although the ending wasn't really... my cup of tea, it's about the journey, not the destination my friends. Well maybe the destination a little bit but the journey sure is fun!

If the horror tag is what brought you here, then you'll be pleased to note that... more>> this novel scores a 11/10 in that department! Add a dash of comedy (actually maybe a bit more than a dash), and it cooks up to quite a nice read. And for the real horror fanatics out there, the true scares are the background stories that the rooms are based off of. If you read up on each tale, I guarantee you might be a bit nervous going to bed. I personally only read novels in the dead of night though, so maybe my experience is a bit biased...

Anyways, novel is a 5 gold star outta 5 gold stars, even considering the end. However I did have some tiny qualms in the main story:

Spoiler

Wu Qi died a true cannon fodder death. I definitely feel like there was potential to be made of an additional side character, but alas the author really wanted to awaken Lin Qiushi's revenge arc. It really did feel like Wu Qi was just killed off just because though...

Another thing, I think there's been a bit of feedback on the very last arc, door 11, and it's alright, however it lacks one critical feature. Every door world we've read has either some sort of horror, gore, or a bit of psychological warfare tied into it. Door 11 is definitely focused more on the psyche and emotional well-being which is a stark difference to previous themes. I definitely got misty eyed and felt trepidation while reading those parts, but it didn't quite fit the novel's overall atmosphere just quite right (it was a bit... off I'd say, but not bad to read).

Also Gu Longming... this guy's personality is a riot!! fingerheart. jpg

SPOILERS BELOW! If you have not read this novel yet, you have been warned. If you have read the novel, please enjoy and reminisce on a collection of funny moments I saved:

Gu Longming:

Spoiler

Gu Longming, "f*cker, what are you so scared of?? Like you won't die if you weren't scared? Be good now, and hurry up and talk to us. If you talk you might still have a chance to live. If you don't, you've got no chance at all." (Nothing hotter that starting a sentence off with a bang am I right?)

_________

"Got it got it got it, protect you, I'll tie you right onto my belt and bring you absolutely everywhere, " Gu Longming said. "I'm not the smash and dash kind of man you know... " (Wow, a gentleman with chivalry, this opportunity is quite hard to come by)

_________

Gu Longming, "I'm saving my back for my future girlfriend!"

Lin Qiushi ruthlessly exposed a certain cruel truth: "But he just got off from your back."

Gu Longming, "... "

Ai Wenrui peeked at Gu Longming, a little shy. "Sorry, I still like women... "

Gu Longming, through gritted teeth, "What a coincidence, me f*cking too." (Gu Longming, I am a woman, hello)

_________

In the end Gu Longming couldn't hold it in anymore: "f*ck dude, are you really an art student? What the c*ck and balls is this supposed to be!" (They say words say more than actions... right?)
_________
Gu Longming was entirely soaked. Once he came in he began to curse under his breath: "f*ckers, throwing me on a lifeboat—why don't you just throw me into the ocean huh? Goddamn jealous of my beauty or what—" (Gu Longming starting his sentences off with "F*ckers": a saga)

_________
Gu Longming watched as they pulled out a bottle of chili sauce, eyes bulging out.

"You guys even brought Lao Gan Ma? Did you come here to picnic?"

"Want some?" Lin Qiushi drizzled the Lao Gan Ma over some noodles they'd brought out of the dining hall.

"Yeah yeah yeah. More please." Gu Longming's expression was shameless. (Gu Longming are you sure you aren't already a bottle of hot sauce?)

_________

"Motherf*cker." Gu Longming hadn't seen this coming at all, and said blankly: "This brother was a mosquito demon?" (This sister is living for Gu Longming's lines LOL)

[collapse]

Other funny moments:
Spoiler

"Great." Seeing this, the group had irrefutable evidence to the truth of the hypothesis. Someone at the table blew a fuse, swearing in dialect: "This d*ck shite of a door, son of a c*nt." (I think we've found the theme of the novel?)

_________

Just as she wanted to ask why they were sharing a bed, she saw Ruan Nanzhu press a kiss to Lin Qiushi's cheek, calling, "Linlin, time to wake up."

Lin Qiushi mumbled drowsily, "Good morning."

Liang Miye, "... " Oh f*ck, she seemed to have learned something she shouldn't have known. The leader of Obsidian was dating one of his own members?! Wasn't that a bit too similar to her own boss?! (Liang Miye and her iconic thought process pt.1)

_________

Lin Qiushi watched her: "we're inside a door, and you're doing a face mask?"

"Why not do a face mask?" Liang Miye batted her eyes before really getting into it. "Oh don't you know, they all say face masks are the most effective inside the doors. Outside, the mask just goes on your flesh, but inside, it goes right onto your soul. It's true inner beauty. And cost-effective." (Liang Miye and her iconic thought process pt.2)

_________

Ruan Nanzhu smiled brilliantly. Sidling up to Gu Longming's ear, he stopped using his false voice. Instead, he spoke in that deep and magnetic timbre, that voice that definitely belonged to a man: "Tell you a secret, I'm not actually Yu Linlin's girlfriend—I'm his man." (SHAMELESS CONFIDENT KING!)

_________

"Who do you think is better looking, me or her?" Ruan Nanzhu asked.

Gu Longming was honest: "You." Even though you have a huge dick. (HONEST KING!)

_________

Ruan Nanzhu: "That's a bit of a shame, isn't it."

The group: "... " Not a shame at all, thank you. (I feel this is also a very appropriate novel description. Vague, mystifying, yet very in character)

[collapse]

What happened in the extras if you're curious:

Spoiler

In the extras, or more like the first extra since I couldn't bear to read the rest, the author plays more with the idea of Lin Qiushi's hallucinations coming out of door 11, where he thought Ruan Nanzhu was his door 12. The author... quite literally makes Ruan Nanzhu's identity a door/doorkeeper, not really sure what else I can say about that. I think the idea is fine, although common for the ML to be the big boss of an unlimited flow, but there needs to be justifications for the role change up. There were no signs or tellings of the ML being non-human (and please, no one should tag this novel "human x non-human relationship" because that's going to create misjudgments), so its just difficult to accept the ML suddenly being the big boss. Personally, the ending is almost perfect if you get rid of all this out-of-the-blue stuff.

IMO MC fits the bill of big boss way more. No relationships, estranged from family, minimal friends, only a cat that he's heavily reliant on in the beginning. This kind of identity could be fabricated much easier than ML's. Also what's with that special ability affinity to the doors? Bit of a missed opportunity there but oh well.

[collapse]

Shoutout to Xiao Mei. She gets her own little section in my review too. Girl helped the team get through that door but had to suffer so much. : (

Let's not forget our guardian angels, kudos to the two translators, great translations and especially loved some of those funny TL notes and tags!

Side note: amnesia tag isn't really that relevant, so I wouldn't sweat about it (personally)

And to wrap it up with my last ghostly grievances:
Spoiler

I am very regretful about the mystery surrounding ML's reason to entering the doors. Can we also bring up that god forsaken red, cursed bracelet?? ML literally resurrected and got a tattoo to show it. How does a door die? Do one need to knock it down? Or do I need to superglue it, channel my inner Hako Onna, then cast "Moving Things"... I really don't know at this point. Just don't tell me the extras are cannon, that ain't an excuse and if I need to grab my slipper to wack some sense into y'all then I'll do just that! : (plus the 12th door being sealed off?! What?! I'm gonna end my rambling frustrations here and state that I'm suddenly illiterate and cannot read the last few words on ch139 about the sealed door. Next, I think I'm about ready to spit out a Gu Longming number...

I'm not good with expressing my love for stories sometimes (because I mostly just express it while reading and end up running out of juice when reaching the end so bear with this not so emotional review. Still love it tho!)

I just finished reading the story and I'm all dried up (my tears and emotions) finishing this book, but what I can say however, is that it's an amazing story and the ending did not disappoint.... it may seem dissatisfying to some cuz we all expect the last two... more>> doors to be the most terrifying and the most intense out of all the arcs adding the thought that the author seemingly rushed it. But.

Personally, I actually like how it went and I feel like it was supposed to end that way. The author went for a plot twist rather than the most expected.

The most terrifying door of all was the 10th and the 11th held the hardest decisions and can be considered scary (not to readers but to the characters considering they have to face all 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 again).

11th seemed more a reflectory trial and as for the 12th I don't have much to say since I don't know how it was supposed to originally go since we only know of Lin Qiushi's special situation, but it's not really expected to be scary for sure. Anyways that's what I can think of rn but later imma brainstorm some of the plot mystery lol.

also def a 5 star👌 (first chapter had me not being able to get up and pee for fear of... the woman 😨) <<less

I have not given a review in quite a while and this book made me do that. That should be enough for me to tell how good this novel was.

Plot

The plot was in a very good pace. It was intense and there were moments that actually scared me. It kept my attention throughout and every moment was filled with suspense. I did not expect the twists in the end and for the amount of novels I have read, I usually can predict the plot points. The monsters were taken from... more>> real life objects which made the horror element more scarier. It was truly too good and kept me interested throughout. The translation was also wonderful that if I had read this in MTL, I would have lost the essence of the book itself.

CHARACTERS

What can I even say. The characters and their development was just spectacular. The MC going from the scaredy person to a more calm version of himself was shown appropriately. His fear when dealing with the monsters would genuinely make the readers also scared as we see everything from his eyes. There were subtle hints throughout the novel regarding his character that all unfolds when you read the end of the book.

The ML was a surprising character and a breath of fresh air. His antics changing the atmosphere of the novel from scary to lighthearted atleast for a few moments was welcome by me who read this novel at like midnight everyday. I myself have been getting a few dreams influenced by the story in the past few days haha.

Anyway, the characters were top notch and I applaud the author for bringing this novel into fruition. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I recommend for everyone to read it.

Plot: 5/5

Characters: 4/5

Scary value: 4/5

Recommend: 10/10 <<less

Highly Recommend! (First time leaving a review cause the story was just that good and it seriously changed my brain chemistry :)

I absolutely loved the novel, and the way it was written, it made me experience a rollercoaster of emotions and I do warn you about the horror tag it gave me (an insomniac who rarely ever dreams), nightmares for a week in a row. But it was also absolutely funny, I adore RNZ and love the chemistry between the main couple.

I really liked really everything in the novel,... more>> and it brought me back to reading Danmei after being in a major reading slump. Love the plot twists as well. <<less

One word: READ!

even though I have read countless novels already, this is my first time writing a review because I don't know where to share my excitement of having found such a great book after a long time!

Most of the plot is filled with gore and horror but the HUMOR, it was such a nice blend. The main cp and side characters were very much likeable. RNZ is super shameless like OMG, he is one of a kind and has become my fav lol. LQS is calm like a mountain,... more>> nothing can shake him. Personally, I liked that (since its relatable for me) Not to mention the romance, it was one of the BEST things you could find in this story. Literally super romantic when you look back at the entire plot after finishing the book.🥰

At certain points it might feel repetitive, but you just need a small break (that's what I felt at least)

Though I expressed how much I like this novel, to me, some doors were uninteresting. Others might not share the same opinion as me and that's fine. My fav door would be the hako onna (not sure if I spelled right) one; it was interesting and had me glued to my phone lol.

and the twist!!!! I was super curious about it because of all the hype and it didn't disappoint me😭 previously I came across this novel a couple of times but the summary and the tags didn't interest me so I kept pushing it back and now I regret doing that, I wish I knew.

Anyway, if you're still not sure about reading this novel, please go for it! If you don't mind the tags, its such a gem you shouldn't miss. <<less

Don't get me wrong with how I rated it. First of all, it truly is a brilliant and such a well-written story.

Especially when you're looking for horror, tragedy and of course not really having a problem with characters coming and going (I emphasized it this way. Hope y'all understand what I mean).

The horror stories without a doubt almost always made me shiver and get goosebumps all over. Especially when the main characters have to hide somewhere or run from the ghosts. They were all scary af. Moreover, because it's my... more>> first official experience reading a horror story. This novel indeed caught my attetion from the beginning.

I like how the author wrote MC's character as a kind person but still knowing the bottom lines of everything, not some sort of foolish MC who would either save everyone or save himself no matter what. He's clever. I also like the twin brothers too. They are by far my most favorite characters in the entire story (and also the additional characters such as YN and LDY)

But the reason I didn't give it a full rating is because the author didn't go in deep with the other characters' development, particularly the other members of MC's org. I also feel that there were some additional characters whose plot could've been more interesting if they could show up again in later chapters just for the audiences to know more about them.

Anyway, it's still a good story tho, because the readers won't be too confused with too many characters. In this novel, there were only a plenty character who got more of their "screetime" than the others and their appearances were really likable.

Summary: it's worth-reading and those horror-lovers should watch it. <<less

I enjoyed reading this immensely. The world building was just so good. The stories for each door and figuring out how the rules worked while trying to stay alive kept me on the edge of my seat. The author really knows how to paint a picture and the translation made it flow very well. It's become my favorite horror novel which I might re-read in the future after I get over the nightmare inducing scenarios because damn, it went beyond my expectations and that's how I love my light novels.... more>> Going above and beyond what I expect.

I also enjoyed the side characters. I felt like the author really made them come alive and I found myself wanting so desperately to root for them too. The chemistry between MC and ML, I loved the gradual build up overall only to get mindf-d by the twist in the extras. I mean that in a good way.

Definitely recommend reading, just a word of warning for the squeamish that it does contain graphic depictions of violence, gore, body horror and nightmare fuel. I also did take a day or two break in between when it became too much sometimes. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it only showed the author did an excellent job in making their readers feel, but it's also important to be aware of your own limits. <<less

Hi~~ *smiles cutely (terrifyingly) *

Hehe, Iʼm back for another long-ass review. Again, those who know me and my long-ass reviews (... Itʼs actually embarrassing to admit that I only made two... Oh well, I guess thatʼs the consequences of being a procrastinator) will know me.

Like I said, I love typing. And rambling.

... more>> So here I am off making a review (rambling) although thereʼs probably more out there that could help you more so than mine!

Letʼs go!

This novel doesnʼt make you squeeze your brain to predict what happens next... At least if you choose to read it that way. For me, I did. To be honest, I binge-read this until somewhere a bit more than the half, before I stopped.

Because having vivid imaginations and then reading, watching or even hearing horror stories at night is not a good idea.

And~~ you know what happens next when you leave a book as a procrastinator.

You read it some months later, or even some years later. In my case, I fell into the first one.

Well, at least my vivid imaginations about some of the monsters disappeared. A bit. I read it again and stopped again when MC and ML got together as a couple, if you dislike slow-burn then perhaps this is not the one for you. But yeah, this one do teach and tell you to appreciate life better.

Major spoiler alert, please avoid and move on from here...

The build-up to their get-together was super good and yet chilling since the actress died. Right when she got her award too! That really made me sad, but yeah I think the author did a good job at making that climax so they finally got that one last push to get together. (I forgot her name, Iʼm sorry, huhu)

By the way, Cheng Qianliʼs death made me so depressed, huwaa!! I really thought the author would be kind enough and bestow us a little kindness after killing the actress, ehek. Which was also why I couldnʼt read the second extra and so on. Iʼll probably read it some time later on just to finally, finally say that I have finished it for real now. But now is just nope. Huhu... Well, if you consider months later (again, yes) is still hurtful.

However, Iʼm still grateful as we can see that he is still living happily in the eleventh door *crying a river* I still feel bad for Cheng Yixie, really.

[collapse]

Ehem, that was quite long. For those that are still sticking along, thanks... I guess??

Uhh, yeah. Like some said too thereʼs a surprise waiting in the first extra, although... itʼs, uhh, I donʼt know?? Itʼs about the ML if youʼre curious, I was sort of surprised too but then itʼs actually making sense. Actually, I guess Iʼm still having mixed feelings about that one.

Anyway, MC is not your typical overpowered, cold, experienced protagonist—uhm, no, no, no. Heʼs also not your weak, white-moonlight, needs-help-always protagonist. Blank your mind, interested readers.

Ehem, you could say that he has nothing interesting about him at all... Thatʼs it if you exclude his exceptional good hearing and how he adapts well to his surroundings almost in an instant. Oh, yeah. Do we have cat-lovers here? Because he has one. Its name is Chestnut!

Also, he is one of those MCs who grows from being inexperienced to... not an expert, no. You can say that heʼs like a normal person, although a tad bit higher in mentality, perhaps. By the way, his name is Lin Qiushi... if Iʼm right... Iʼm bad at remembering names, oops.

MLʼs name would be Ruan Nanzhu, and yes he likes to cross-dress in the doors. Oh, right, I didnʼt explain even a bit about the plot right? Uh, itʼs basically like what everyone else says. In this world, those who are about to die will find themselves with twelve doors in a hallway. And, you have to open one of them—the ones that are not locked. You can enter the previous ones too, if I remember that correctly?... Iʼm not an expert at this.

You can sort of think of it like stages of a game. In order to advance, you need to play where you left off, but that doesnʼt mean you canʼt enter the lower ones again. But, it would be different. The stage, I mean. Example: you enter door five again but itʼs not the same one you cleared. The difficulty lies in the number of people that entered the door, if I remembered that correctly.

Oops, weʼre sort of straying from my main point here. ML doesnʼt become infatuated immediately, but... heʼs kinda interested with MCʼs great adaptive skill, thatʼs why and how they became closer. Their love grew stronger with time and I think the slow-burn plus authorʼs teasing is great. ML also helps people with the doors, and he has a... sort of business in the real world about the doors. You get a clue about the next door at the end of the door you entered, I think thatʼs cool.

Other than that, there are the twin brothers that are my favorite. Their names are Cheng Yixie and Cheng Qianli. Some more side characters that I donʼt remember their names, and... I guess thatʼs it. This review was a mess because I donʼt remember the facts, so sorry about that!

The monsters are scary to me, so... goodluck with that.

Spoiler

My favorite arc would be... Hmm, I think the lady with paintings and the twin sisters. Oh, the slender man too and the burning hotel. Other than that, I donʼt remember, ehehe.

[collapse]

Uh, conclusion is: donʼt read this novel at night if you have vivid imaginations and a strong fear of horror.

By the way, I think the theme would be to be kind and treat people nicely, even when youʼre in distress. Youʼll know why later on. I think itʼs cool how the author highlights that.

Spoiler

It isnʼt until the eleventh door that this theme kicks in. Yeah, the theme is really, what you give you get back. Itʼs cool and I like how the author portrays it.

I'm not really fond of Horror, so when I read the first chapters I was really down and not particularly interested, thinking I might even drop this. GOOD THING I PERSEVERED! MAN, THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!

The plot! Every arc is interesting, you'll never get bored. Might just be confused at the first arc but the plot will be enlightened bit by bit as the story progresses.

The romance is indeed slow. Maaaaaaan, almost at the end and... Anyways, even if it's slow, there's enough dog food to swallow as the story... more>> progresses, I ASSURE YOU. And when the time comes, it will come to the point you might even blow up from too much dog food. Btw, there's no smut but the hints are AAARGHHHHHH!

Anyways! The end. The END! IS JUST REALLY MIND-BLOWING.

First, before the last arc, it dropped a bomb that pierced an immeasurable void in my heart.

Then came the last arc. This arc is so nerve-wracking, I don't have any clues about what will happen, gee!

Then the end! Yes, it's a happy ending, don't worry!

And the extras. THE EXTRAS! The first extra. Really. The 1st extra's content is so contradicting to the word itself, extra... Man, at first I was so bewildered. Then I accepted it. I actually felt quite empty because of it... And then I read the last extra... Gosh, the romance is just... It makes me melt so much... The MC, the ml, how the ML discovered the MC, their fateful encounter, ml's love... mc's love... It's just too wonderful I might melt— if I can really melt, then I have already melted away minutes ago after finishing it! <<less

this is the first UF novel I read and also the one which makes me like UF novels. This novel is my favourite book ever!!!!

I thought I have a high horror tolerance until I read this book. I can feel the chill to my bones while reading this (especially if you read at night, in the dark). I love how the author based off some doors on real stuffs, this make them creepier. Amidst the horror, it is quite funny too. Dw the ML will keep you entertained throughout the... more>> book.

This is not a fluffy romance story and the romance happen very late in the story but it is totally worth the wait. Not to mention, the FREAKING BIG PLOT TWIST at the end. I don't know why some people are not really satisfied with it but I'm totally amazed by it (like the meme Never let them know your next move LOL).

The world of the door is totally amazing! Btw don't grow too attached to some side characters T T.

Anyway my point is JUST JUMP STRAIGHT IN READ THE BOOK!!!!!! I swear you wont regret it!! TRUST ME!! <<less

I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY... EXCPET I CRIED AT THE ENDING BEFORE I REALIZED THE AUTHOR PLAYED ME SO HARD. anyways if you like mystery/thriller then you'll absolutely love this, all the scenarios they go through are wonderfully written and thought out. what I most admired was how there were still bits of comedy in this otherwise completely horror movie-style situation, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the MC and ML's interactions!! they were so refreshing and fun to read about. call me s*upid, but in the beginning I... more>> didn't realize who the ML was and was thinking "wow I love this character, I wish the MC ended up with them" HAHA I WAS s*upid <<less

This novel had me proven that my imagination was indeed too vivid. If you're not up for a detailed gore, please don't read it. But if you're not a fan of horror but have enough guts and still got intrigued by the novel like me, then give it a try!

A little (un) helpful advice, if you really want to read it despite being scared because of your vivid imaginations, then read it during the day, it's less scary that way... just creepy :)
