The novel is okay. Lore wise its pretty fine, nothing outstanding to make it stand out from the rest of cultivation novels. Translation though is infuriating, 200 ch. On every page there are a lot of sentences I have to decipher in my head and I really hate that as it breaks the immersion. The worst part is not the bad translation to, its the translator, for some reason he decides to translate one page out of 20 okay, god I consider my self a peaceful person but I never... more>> wanted to punch someone in the face this badly before. When ever I start reading a novel I check for translation quality from comments and that plays major part in if I want to read the novel or not, I wish someone said that the translation sucks so I wouldnt dedicate the time to start this suffering.

BE WARNED THE TRANSLATION 200 ch IN IS NOT ''OKAY'' IT SUCKS. And I have a feeling that if I continue to read this novel my level of english will plummet. <<less

This is a terrible novel just like authors other novel Warlock of the Magus World. In the novel even though author tries to show MC like a smart opportunist he is definitely a ret*rded f*ck. All the problems MC have in this novel are from random encounters and he handles all encounters in the worst way possible and because of this smallest conflicts escalates to comedic degrees. There is literally 0 menaningful conflicts. Also one of the serious problem of the novel is that if MC says that he doesn't... more>> want something to happen you know for %100 it is gonna happen. I saw many people here complaim about the MC being cold heart. In this novel any commitment to someone can bring you weaknesses, which do not allow you to move forward. At a certain point you will have to sacrifice everything to reach the top. This novel has a determined MC aways seeking the top of power, and the good about this novel its how its is done by MC.

Spoiler

The dreams its a way to travel through worlds, than he reach the top of martial art, but later he discovers that this is only the begining because there are other dreams travellers in this world that are stronger than him. After reaching the top of dream travelers, they discovers that there are other races that travels through world that are stronger that then. Not only that but there is the concept of gods, that rules the words or galaxies, when you think that its over there the novel show you the concept of multiple universes and between then the void, where not even the time exists, its pure void. The novel its about the MC reaching the top of all of that, the main reason/motivation to reach the top its to not die by his enemies, but the real reason you will find at the last 200 chapters, not only why he is a very gilfted person but why he have a system.

A dissapointment... It may not be so dissapointing for those newer to these kinds of Chinese novels but it's so bland and boring coupled with the usual Chinese novel disease of being too long winded for nothing it's tr*sh. The MCs emotions are moot, goals are duh, relationships with others may as well not exist, funny or exciting moments are few far between and even then still lacking in the entertainment factor. I'm afraid this might actually be a standard for most Chinese authors... I really hope I'm wrong!

Would be a great story if the author put more time (but less words) into it. Instead it's eventually a loosely connected collection of short stories without any real content.

I don't want to discourage anyone from reading this novel.

I had finished WMW before reading this.

The Plagiarist is a rank 9 magus among mortals, WMW is too epic to be of this World.

So I was deeply shocked when I read this novel.

Spoiler

This feels nothing like the plagiarist. Reading the dream traverse arcs feels like a chore (starting from zero all over, too repetitive for a small gain of karma or godly origin force which becomes useless garbage only until a multitude of Dozen Chapters later), the whole population seems to be made up of 90% males, and all in all this novel is garbage. Not sure if his novels in general don't have much "ecchi" / romance or OUR translator or HIS editors are censoring, but come on the guy isn't even cultivating his yang energy, zero romance is not acceptable xD

Human interaction feels shallow and not satisfactory, the guys character is not consistent, at first he was portrayed kinda like leylin but he then becomes compassionate, while still claiming to not care.

Rules are made only to be broken later on cause the author never thought that these rules might be kinda OP.

At first when dream traversing he had this skill of leveling up real quick, but later on it was said that the world wouldn't let him do that anymore. Which is kinda questionable. It feels like the author decides on a whim when it applies and when not. This feels too much like every bad cultivation novel out there *MGA*.

I seriously hope this novel was written before WMW, or else Overgod Ascension might also be ****`?

I hope not. WMW is still THE best novel out there.

Rated 5 stars, cause why not.

It is true when others have said that whole dream traversing arcs can be skipped... They can be very long and monotonous.... otherwise similar to WoMW.... too bad the whole dream traversing thing is too prolonged... it sucks due to that. MC is similar to WoMW being cold and calculative but... he also cares for his underlings more in this novel.

It seems like many don't like this novel, actually this novel deserves four stars. There are indeed some classic plots, often played in other novels, but that does not reduce its superiority because the end of the plot is different, especially the writer makes the MC does not kill anyone, except those in the world of his own dreams.

MC just wants to live quietly in his small valley, even the reason why he increases the power because of threats from outside, like; love rivals, ex-fiancé teachers, sect elders etc., because... more>> they have bad prejudices there are MC. Not sure about the continuation of the story for now I give five stars because the novel rating is 3.8. <<less

the story is pretty fun at the beginning with MC op with a cheat but the quality deteriorates as the story progresses

some cons

1> in this novel everyone is driven by profit with no moral grounds at all, I mean ya in real world nobody is a saint but still this novel takes it to extreme levels, people who were friends with the MC just betray him because he became powerful and could threaten them, girls are just gold-diggers and the just want to use the MC for the wealth and... more>> power he posses. To be honest it's unrealistic and tiring to read

2> MC is just an idiotic fool, who is brutal (without any reason), practical (*cough* coward *cough*), and pathetically alone in the world. He is not righteous and I think the author is not able to decide a fixed personality for him, sometimes he kills innocent people for no reason whatsoever and sometimes he acts all high and mighty arghhhh.

3> cultivation system is crap

pros

1> the story concept is interesting

2> MC is op with a plot armor harder than adamantium

3> the pacing is good and the arcs are not dragged unnecessarily <<less

The series is good with a clear mental path for the character (usually revolving around 'clearing up loose ends'; which makes him shoot right past a lot of the steps in the usual 'revenge by villain faction' cycle).

Things eventually get weird because the author introduces more systems. First, the progagonist is a reincarnator has a stat/skill system unique to him because of course he does (this also ends up going into a 'lets be a farmer' start of the plot). But this is easy enough to write off, and it... more>> doesn't exactly clash with the regular 12/13 level system in a 'special technique and level' focused setting every one else uses. Those compliment each other well, since he mostly just gets to see his progress bar for training and he uses available, if rare, items to boost his stats.

But then the author adds alchemists and spammy spell casters. These new guys START OFF at the same about power as the peak level martial artists (but it is written off as 'high stat requirements to join' and the martial art system lets relatively normal people build up to that power level).

Then things get reeeeeallly weird

Spoiler

The titular system is brought in about 70 chapters in- dream master. Which allows you to go into dream worlds... which can have their own cultivation systems (the one in the first world it is pretty silly, with like....20 distinct level names and things like 99 tribulations in a 'we have cool magic items' setting; very dream logic based, so that is easy to write off). At first, this seemed like it was just a "lol, do whatever" method of training your mind/soul/magic- you can do whatever in the dream world without worrying about dying or hostages. There is also an hint that he can set the setting, so he can make his own scenarios to live through.

But then, the character brings up how dream masters can bring certain things into the real world if they 'follow natural laws of the real world'. Which seems more like he is modding skyrim and he can only insert certain files of the right type. This makes me realize that the other systems in the 'real world' are probably just things that dream masters imported in.

[collapse]

Generally... don't come for the world building of cultivation, because the author throws monkey wrenches into that. Stay for the protagonist that can follow the plot and plans to cut it off. He is fairly goal oriented, and he would honestly stop with the sneaky stuff if people would just stay off his lawn. <<less

I have finished this novel, the review will contain mild spoilers and overview.

My Rating is 8/10, I put 5 stars to counterbalance 1 stars from people who either did not understand or did not read the novel.

The story starts of a country bumpkin growing plants. This is extremely misleading as it has nothing to do with the story once the prologue chapters end.

There are similarities with WMW, WMW is probably a better novel overall, the differences is that Leylin is more of an Evil guy, while Fang Yuan is strictly... more>> neutral. He does not kill things on purpose, but in many cases about accidental causalties he does not care, and strives for his personal benefit.

The whole novel is a series of stories of dreamtraversing, similarly to entering other worlds. In each world MC reincarnates or posseses someone, and climbs to the top, before earning or plundering some rewards from the world itself that allow him to advance in cultivation. As he gains more experience, you can see that he becomes expert and competes against other similar beings.

As he is dreamtraversing in different worlds, each world has its own pecularities, characters, and represents a short story/arc. There are some arcs which were poor/boring/slow and I honestly skipped, (ancient world, hellsing, netherworld et.c.) and some that were better in writing and more interesting.

Spiritual world, Pirate King, Starcraft, and Barbarian arcs are among the better ones imho. The writing quality felt much better and you could genuinely enjoy those arcs.

The writing quality is fairly decent, it is not a novel about making a large harem, winning tournaments, and Uncle of an Uncle taking revenge on MC. The story has a very slow accumulation/build up, with the main story arc starting from around 500C.

As it goes MC does not develop any faction, romance or attachments, and as soon as he makes a significant jump up in level, all the past acquintances dissapear like dust or ants. As if they never existed, he cannot even return back and check on his homeland Daqian. Late story time skips of 30, 000 years and 1, 000, 000 years in particular make it feel like all the previous universes were irrelevant stories.

The ending itself a separate mini-arc and is kind of dull, but far from the worst endings out there.
The precursor of him being a traverser incarnator from earth, that incarnated in superb universe only to incarnate in another world and all that he saw in some dreams e.t.c., is a complete mess though. <<less

The only thing that's carefree is the authors writing. Not particularly interesting in any aspect. The MC, the story, the cultivation... none of it measures up to wmw.

All the same, it wouldn't be all that bad if it just didn't feel so lazy.

Example

In the journey north out of the starting area of the story (around 200 chapters) the MC comes across a tiger and decides to tame it as a mount. He spends half a day wrestling and riding this tiger. The MC can tame animals, plants and manipulate people... more>> using his cultivation technique but he spends half a day breaking in a tiger while he's in a frozen tundra...

Just a lazy novel.

Btw, side characters are completely unimportant if that matters to you. To me, that would be fine if the MC was a psychopath but this guy is just completely apathetic. The author will have the MC chastise disloyal characters while the MC has no loyalty to anyone himself. The MC will call certain cultivation techniques evil but in the end he does sh*t that's as bad or worse. Actually in hindsight he is a psychopath, just not as mu*derous as Leylin in wmw. I suppose the major complaint is just how boring the MC is.

So you're left with a mary sue and a hypocrite for an MC.

Finished the whole thing and my opinion never really got better. The MC remains the least interesting person in the story. <<less

The only reason why I didn't dropped it's because the genre scratch my niche. Started reading it because its from the same author of the great WebNovel Warlock of the Magus World. But this one seems is not that good.

Reasons to read it: You enjoy transmigration; xuanhuan; a peek into many different worlds each one with its own power systems; makes you reminiscent of other novels or stories that were not completed or didn't had a sequel; very little to no sexism, xenophobia, LGBTQ hate, and/or distasteful Chinese nationalism; and... more>> the novel is actually completed (I hate hiatus status and I already have too many ongoing).

Reasons to avoid it: too long for its own good since it doesn't flush out good stories from the many worlds; MC is not relatable, interesting, not much character development other than the power level; Story lacks cohesiveness, side stories are dropped. <<less

As usual it starts off great, then falls off. Protagonist tends to be really lucky but not as bad as some other WNs and he's a pretty reasonable guy for the most part. He is pretty much indifferent toward everyone else so there's no romance and side characters are constantly forgotten.

After the intro bit he goes around to a bunch of other worlds that each have their own unique styles and cultivation systems, and all of them have been entertaining so far. He even starts off as a fish in... more>> one, so definitely worth a read for that alone imo.

The main problems are that he tends to rush through the worlds and the addition of new power levels and such feels like it'll just keep stretching as long as it can. Most of the worlds are worthy of having a novel set in them alone, but he's able to use his cheat to finish them quickly. There's also a pretty big plot hole involving creation powers which I found annoying. <<less
