I was thinking, oh is it another Overlord again? But it is not. It is more like The New Gate. And he is also overpowered, simply overpowered. But there are lots of contents in this novel. He is cursed or system malfunctioning because the skeleton skin is a cosmetic skin he bought before he was transfered inside the game, his original starting character were dark elf. the MC (named Arc) is more like "i was cursed to look like a skeleton" instead of an actual skeleton knight
he can eat with no problem, his huge armor can somehow fit perfectly even though he's just bones inside, basically he got no downside of being a skeleton other than.... looking like one (even his somewhat dulled emotion can be put aside since it's too minor)

not saying that it's bad... but it got none of that uniqueness that other notable isekai novels has (or maybe I'm starting to get too used to this genre, idk)

well, it start out pretty slow, then picks up the speed, and suddenly it's rushed like a manga getting axed

nitpicking aside, it's actually not that bad of a read, it's got some funny moments, some fan service, a bit of political schemes and pretty intense and gruesome fight scene (when the side characters are the ones fighting lol)

it's in the "read and forget" category, but at least not in the "dropped after 5 minutes" category

PS : the novel got more details, but somehow the manga's story flows better despite cutting some (unnecessary) side quests and changing some scenes and the accompanying character

it's actually fun to read both and compare the differences

The novel is about how OP he is but you can't feel he is OP he is always stronger than his opponent but you can't see any fighting sense its just spamming the same 3-4 skills over and over

This is something different. Instead of your shy, average protagonist, you get a tall knight in super flashy gear.

The novel is about a guy who becomes his in-game avatar and starts to explore a brand new world in his new OP body.

This is a very interesting and fun to read novel, but it lacks a bit in the "OP fanservice". What I mean by that is that when we get an OP protagonist, we want him to actually show that he is OP, otherwise what's the point? Quite a good novel. Plenty of world building and details for every place the MC travels to, background characters are well fleshed out so it really feels like an adventure. Fights and action scenes are interesting and easy to visualize. The translation is ace too, so it's a joy to read.

I also wanted more casual interaction and development between MC and his party, something that the author doesn't seem to have much interest in. What interaction is there is largely related to the mission at hand. (Therefore, please remove the 'romance' tag from this novel).

I read everything available, but feel like because of those two points above, I wasn't strongly compelled to read on/really engrossed with the story.

TL:DR: It's just OK. Characters are boring. MC is more of a side character. World-Building is slow but nice. There's lots of overarching plots that you get a glimpse of in each volume.

It's pretty slow, honestly. There's a lot of exposition about things from scenery to culture to the world's history. It's also standard fare of MC being OP enough to solve any problem instantly.
