After graduating from the prestigious magic academy, Noelle got a job at her hometown’s magic item craftsman guild to look after her sick mother. Although her mother safely recovered, her treatment at work continued to worsen due to prejudice and harassment of the guild master. In the end, she was called useless and was fired.

It was a friend from the academy days who came up and talk to Noelle, who was at her wit’s end looking for a job. Apart from being a royal magician, he was the youngest to have ever been promoted to sacred-gold-ranked magician. Now, that famous person told Noelle, “I want you, the only one whom I haven’t been able to win against in my life so far, to lend me your strength.” Thus, Noelle went to the royal capital and started working as a royal court magician.

She, who went towards the sun’s light, became an existence that attracted attention from the whole kingdom before she knew it——

Chapter 82 and no review? Well I'll start then...

This one is typical "kicked out, turned out OP" kinda thing, the not isekai one. MC is OP fo sho but not without struggles and there are still many people whose strength are above hers so it's not like she's the ultimate OP protag, no.

Story is light hearted and a little bit odd considering the MC is a girl but having her storyline written like a shounen, while the male lead has his storyline written completely like a shoujo instead.

5 stars because... more>> it just happen to fit my expectations, objectively speaking there's nothing new or super brilliant. But still it's well written and translation quality is very good so for me 5 stars is justified. <<less

I consider myself to be an avid enjoyer of the romance genre; with that said, that isn't why I like this story. At nearly 200 chapters, Luke's love for Noelle is still entirely one-sided. I know this novel has the slow romance tag, but this is far too slow for my liking. With my only complaint out of the way, here comes the d*ck riding.

First off, I love how while Noelle amazes the people around her, she isn't the only amazing person in this story. Far too often do I... more>> see stories whose main characters are basically gods in all but name (and intelligence), while everyone around them is either a brash fool or spineless coward. While Noelle may end up leading the charge in many of the more important moments, she isn't the only person to charge forward. Luke is usually not too far behind, but even many of the supporting cast have their moments to shine.

The fights are honestly some of the best I've ever read, and this isn't even a shounen action novel. I usually end up having to put something on in the background, since it would just be so jarring for such a vivid action scene to not have musical accompaniment.

As for the goons who fired Noelle, I can really only thank them for allowing her to be taken to an environment much more conducive for her to shine. I don't really care to watch their downfall, hell I usually just skip their chapters altogether, since they don't have any relevance to the plot. Those chapters are just there for people who find catharsis in watching pretentious fools crash and burn.

I ended up knocking one star off for the complete lack of romance despite having the tag, but aside from that, I cannot recommend this novel enough. <<less

This could have been good if the magic had more weigh. You really don't understand the system or how much effort until the last book. Which is kinda writing issue. The flashbacks are a little annoying. I'd rather a play with the toys approch and lighter on the flash backs. Make now moments forward motion early on. Just slowed the book down without a huge emotional reward. I care, but I don't really care.

A massive amount of awww shes a hardworker. Oh I'm so sorry. ANd that isn't the most... more>> fun to read. She's a magic book loving nerd but we don't get to feel her geek outside fight scenes. The interest and what's held in those books. The expermentation of our OP chararcter that made her OP seems to be one big skip for instead random flashbacks that could have been built via forward story motion or a flash later in a better moment.

The concept though I absolutely love. I don't mind an OP char. But mostly, I like the fact that she isn't iskei shes just a nerd who fought to get where she is through hard work. And through that hard work she suceeds. I'm mostly not a fan of the way it's layed out. I enjoy the subplot of the guy, the mom is FUNNY, the random best friend and even the old guild master is interesting but it's almost like author is willing to give a flash back instead of actual character development for the now.

Only 1 really good well place flash back though if im honest.
Spoiler

when it explains how her mother saved the money for her to go to magic school but she didn't get tons of presents but she was thankful. It caught me in the feels and punched well with the my mom worked hard so I could be there for when she meets the dukes son rich boy. But then there's tons more flashbacks without us getting a chance to care about the char in the now and it kinda ruins the story

[collapse]

sold 4. Worth reading would not recomend though. It's like a dahlia in bloom but without focus in the now. <<less

It’s a comfortable read and besides that Noelle is an overpowered clueless airhead a real nice story. Nothing special but also nothing annoying. The male MC is in love with her but because she can’t read the signs and even dismissing them despite her mother constantly telling her she should go for him it goes nowhere for now. Also there probably is a rival lurking in the background already.

The PoV changes sometimes, usually to show what is going on elsewhere but also to show what other people really think. It's... more>> not annoying but I believe there would have been better ways to submit this kind of information. <<less

This story is a diamond amongst stones. Most JN novels of this genre are written in a very plain, simplistic and shallow matter. Forgive me for over-generalizing but that is based on my observation after having read or at least browsed through dozens of such stories.

This story is unique in the sense that the characters have actual personalities and depths, the FL is OP but not in a boring manner and she has actual rivals who allow her the opportunity to grow even more. There are people who are as... more>> equally strong, and sometimes more, than her, and it's refreshing and humbling to read because it allows for character growth. Speaking of which, the side characters are decently fleshed out, and the plot is logical as well (iirc; I was taking a break to let chapters accumulate). The translations are also very good. The writing is also detailed and flows pleasantly, rather than the more monotonous style favored by most JN writers I've read. Alongside "Silent Witch", this has become one of my favorite JN novels of the OP FL genre. <<less
