My favourite novel so far out of the countless novels I've read, it just has such an interesting and different vibe to other novels ive read. It's just good idk how to describe it, it has like a sort of dark tone following through the whole story with the MC really trying to succumb his demons

This is a second chance story but a little different from the norm. In this case the protagonist was given a second chance in his life to redeem himself of all the atrocities and sins he comitted in his previous life.

The novel takes place in a martial artist world where our protagonist (Gu Yangcheon) is the heir of the Gu clan. The protagonist after dying returns to when he was 15 years old. At the time he was known to be an as*hole who always gets angry and insults everyone... more>> that aproaches him.

After realizing that he has regress he decided that he won't make the same mistake he made is his previous life and all he would do is to live a normal without any responsability.

The MC is an aloof and cold person that doesn't interact with another person unless it's necessary. Although he may look expresionless most of the time for me Gu Yangcheon is always depress. Although he grew numb to all the pain and suffering it feels like he is always in a state of pain because of his sins.

For me the mystery of his past life, his development as a character and his relationship development with the other characters is what makes this novel shine. <<less

Just caught up. I’m not gonna rate it because it’s far too early, but the start is definitely promising. As long as it doesn’t go down in quality, this will likely be one of the best current wuxia series. So far characters are solid and the plot seem interesting, but there’s still plenty of ways the plot points can be mishandled, which is why I’m unwilling to rate it yet.

This is a unique one, I wasn't expecting it. Normally, I don't like Murim because its the same old plot and abilities over and over again but this one was enjoyable. Not life changing, but definitely something I'd prefer sinking my time into.

The fusion of Gates and Murim is interesting and I'm definitely waiting more of the plot to be uncovered since it seems like it hides mysteries of the MC's past and lots of plot developments. Speaking of the MC, he seems to be the typical regressor, though I... more>> do like his way of approaching situations compared to other MCs of the same tags. He is fun to read about in my personal opinion.

Now of course a series such as this needs to have a harem, I am proud to say I do like the Harem in this series, none of the characters are annoying and all have their charm (Namgung Bia all the way though) and even the side characters like the MC's sister and ex-fiance have interesting dialogue. Overall, looking forward to more chapters. <<less

This is a character-driven story by a skilled author. It's very entertaining, although to fully enjoy the story you must tolerate the harem-building with a somewhat dense MC. I would say that the MC and the plot are the main weaknesses to the novel. If not for those, the novel would be simply incredible.

In short, the 'plot' is that the MC used to be a "bad guy" and was reincarnated back into his younger self. He wants to defeat his former master while being a good guy, this time around.... more>> The story takes you to different events disconnectedly, gathering new waifus like trophies everytime while reporting on the MC's and cast's increased strength. The execution is good, so it probably won't influence your enjoyment, but it prevents the novel from reaching excellence. There is little at stake during the event, except the vague threat of the demons mentioned sometimes. There is little to no personal stake for the characters either with one exception (during the Mount Hua arc).

As for the MC, he is... inconsistent? Chaotic? He is a bit all over the place. One of his repeated desires is avoiding certain characters (half the time it's the waifus, who he banged in his former life though it's dubious with how dense and as*xual he is). Of course, he fails every time because of... plot? Comedic relief? Irrationality and inaction? It's hard to understand the MC when all it takes to solving a 'problem' is literally communication. <<less

It's honestly pretty good I always started reading it for the comedy tag otherwise I expected to be the average regression novel. In some ways it is an average regression novel but the major difference is that the protagonist gets character development.

The right mixture of serious, fun, cute and awkward! I think you either enjoy it or maybe at most find it boring, but I dont see anything to dislike. Give it a try!

I catch up with the whole thing in two days. And as a person who has never touch a murim/wuxia novel before, this one really surprised me.

I won't say anything as the good things have already been said by the other reviewers but if there's one thing I really like about the novel it will be the character development and their relationship.

Ok, 10 chapters in and you're already having as much chapters about other characters you don't care about than ones about the main character... In short if the author is already bored with his MC why should we care about his story...

I'll push through further to see if it keeps going and edit the review if need be, but I'm pessimistic.

Okay, so I gave up on alot of wuxia and xianxia novels for alot of obvious reasons. Mainly due to cycling the same plot to each arc.

But I gave this novel a shot because genesis tl picked it up and clearly this novel is a couple cut above the rest.

So, the story revolves around the MC but does have the occasional pov shift amongst the cast. It's not really annoying but provides a little more insight on why certain stuff happens.

At the moment this story is more of a regression... more>> wuxia. Yeah, chi, martial arts, and time line nonsense. It keeps the chi and martial arts training simple and doesn't jump from elementary to college. It's more like 1 2 3 4 5 peak etc. Keeps its simple and isn't all focused on grinding.

The story focuses more on the character, the past, present, and fighting. The fight scenes are satisfying and doesn't involve like the nonsense pokemon type match up or the ranking abilities bs. You actually get descriptions and imagery on how the fights go.

There is tropes that do get followed, some of them deconstruction, others don't really stay for long.

Please don't confuse the MC for being dense, he's not dense, he has a very strong bias due to his past. But he is aware just confused.

Alright now to the stuff I dislike.

It's a regression novel, it follows 2 timeliness. The past timelines and reset timelines. I really dislike that cause alot of novels use that to fill in plot points where they have to be. Ex. I have to be there cause that's where the treasure is kinda nonsense. The good thing is, it's barely there, because guy doesn't care. But it does touch alot on pasts, people, and regrets.

It's harem, but so far the girls have personality at less and they progress as he does. At less its not he's gotta save each girl and then move on and they're fences to his house or anything.

The comedy really syncs up with my humor though because he has moments where okay it looks fun and then immediately regrets his decision.

Overall, the novel is fun, the fights feel alive, the characters are intriguing, and mystery just keeps getting more interesting. But I will say don't take the main character too seriously because he's a tsundere. <<less

Listen up lads.

MC is someone who has f*cked up way too many times in his life that he literally just straight up forgets them. All of this leads to him feeling all those cool negative feelings which pushes him to change.

Surprisingly MC has been gifted with another chance (not really suprising) in life where he tries to redeem himself and to also save the world to boot.

Need I say more. A cool sad backstory and a redemption arc.

Go read go...

First of all, thank you to the team responsiboe for translating this series! I kinda regret reading it because the following chapters needs to be paid to unlock (I'm now considering to buy some chapters, though). The premise is good and I enjoyed it even though some "cliche" tropes have been used here, it still managed to execute it in a way that I will find it fun rather than be annoyed. Also the build up and mysterious feel to it as the chapter progresssed keeps adding up; making me... more>> engaged to this series, as I cannot wait to learn more about the mysteries lingering to these characters and the events. <<less
