Arrogance personified that the apex itself cannot contain and can only bow its head before him.

It's quite sad to see people here that can't get past the superficial arrogance that the main character, Li Qiye, exhibits and scoff at it as if its another rich arrogant prince from some faraway kingdom with nothing to show for that most Xianxia novels show rather than the profundity deep within his characterization.

Li Qiye lived for tens of millions of year in the story. Think about that for a second, tens of millions of years. Living that long and experiencing those long years as the Dark Crow, the teacher of Immortal Emperors, the beings of pure supremacy in the novel. As you read through, you realize that this man commanded Heavenly Generals, Powerful Beings,... more>> and Unfathomable Monsters that have slaughtered billions of people each generation he lived.

Ancient sects? Powerful cultivators? Arrogant princes? Massive armies? He has killed them all throughout his life multiple times and the next thousands and so will be no different. Humility? He reserves those to one closest to him and arrogance's name is Li Qiye.

This novel is the "Epilogue" of his existence and you read through the fluff and encounters, you read his melancholic lamentations deep within him and the weight of the goodbyes, farewells, parting with loved ones, and those who knew him personally. This is a journey of a man seeking an answer beyond his world and the preparations he made is now bearing fruit and on that journey, mu*der and blood will flow.

If you can't stand arrogance in MCs and rather prefer silent and meek ones, sadly, this novel is not for you. This novel is a train of arrogance and it breaks its way through every chapter/arc. I can't explain my love whether it be the lore which is very unique among its xianxia counterparts or the how Daoism/Buddhism in this is another world of its own, or the underlying Philosophy that is masked beneath the story. I rank this novel amongst I Shall Seal The Heavens and Release That Witch, novels that really made me love translated Chinese Novels and have been blessed to read.

I leave a conversation from Chapter 1148 which really showcases Li Qiye. No major spoilers in the story.

Spoiler

"Li Qiye held her hand and stared at her incomparably beautiful features then smiled: “Sometimes, I feel that the world is too far away. Why the need to travel so far? If possible, I want to stop and start a family. Perhaps this isn’t a bad idea.”

“Don’t say that.” Her fingers gently pressed on his hand as she spoke with a tone as soft as water: “A man should be ambitious. Don’t worry about me or other women, we are only your shackles. You should go further, to the end of the world.”

She stared at him deeply and gravely spoke: “If I become something that impedes your path, then I shouldn’t have appeared in your life. In fact, this should be the case for any woman that you have met.”

Li Qiye chuckled and said: “It jolts me when you put it that way. Am I heartless, or is it because of the circumstances?”

“It is neither you or the circumstances.” She said: “In fact, I have never blamed you before. In this vast world, you have traveled for so many years. Even after suffering through countless hardships and troubles, you kept walking forward. Your life is at the end of the world; if you suddenly stop and give up... I don’t care what you think, but at the very least, I feel that I would become a sinner if you did it for me. A sinner to the history of cultivation.”

Li Qiye gripped her jade-like hand and stared at her wondrous eyes to say: “Although the years are endless, when you put it that way, how can I not persevere?”

She firmly said: “Many have gone and fallen on this path. Emperors, gods, and heroes... all have become dried bones on their journey, but I believe that in this generation, only you will reach the end and discover a new world, an entirely new world. After the primordial chaos, it will be a world created by you.”

  1. Repetitive plots.
  2. Lack of in-novel society development. No changes in technology, language, dress and food in all worlds after millions of years. Which means the worlds are in stagnant for millions of years.
  3. ret*rd level enemies.
    1. Small scale quarrel between juniors always get escalated until the entire clan get destroyed.
    2. The enemy just saw him doing something even their most strongest ancestor can't do, yet they still thinking they can beat him.
    3. He just totally destroyed three clans as strong as their's, yet they still thinking of defeating him.
    4. They can't beat him when their are at 100% strength, yet continue to fight even when they already at 10% strength.
  4. Full of clichés.
  5. Full of ant crickets.

From the novels I have read this novel is one of the few which truly stay true to its title. MC has lived for many eras and experienced a lot of things. So when he is no more immortal, he started executing his eras old master plan.
Spoiler

the guy is almost like the ruler of whole 9 worlds and a very big short in the 10th world also

[collapse]

So when he acts he is unstoppable. Through out the story we can never see the MC being defeated or in a desperate situation. He dominates all like the title. While MC likes to have women as his followers he is not a womeniser. He is extremely picky when it comes to taking women as his wife or concubine. He doesn't have to interact much just his calmness, vast knowledge, strength and mysticalness charms every girl. His emotions fluctuate mainly or only when he interacts or remember his past friends. We can see him sad or low spirited only when it comes to a farewell forever. There are lot of repetitions in the story and in the writing prose as well. Still I read the story only to see MC dominates everyone including old theif heaven

Ruthless, domineering and manipulative. MC is basically a near omniscient, walking remote control who can set off massive explosions, slaughtering annoying airheads (yeah, the villains are brainless dicks), because he has figurative nuclear bombs planted in every single territory within the story. MC's arrogance sparks trouble wherever he goes, but I think that instead of being a flaw, this characteristic makes the story stand out. His supercilious personality has been pretty much hammered for millions of years, why wonder why he acts like he owns the world? He literally has... more>> seen and experienced everything so I'm pretty much convinced with his actions. Only, I wonder why he always drawls on how beautiful girls don't move him, but he seems intent on collecting them (and the author is very fond of physically describing them, i.e. Skin, breasts and fragrance, and he repeats it so often as if he was afraid readers are not convinced that they are alluring, country-wrecking Helens of Troy).

But hey, I enjoy the plot so I'm giving it a thumbs up. <<less

MC is arrogant but unlike MGA and similar fight -> powerup -> fight novels this one feels very natural and MC is actually very likable.

Highly recommended for everyone.

Currently read up to chapter 18, usually I don't give a review, or even think to deeply about a series until at least the 25th chapter, especially these Chinese LN's.

But this is one of those exceptions, it has everything you want out of a novel like this, badass MC, not afraid to do what needs to be done when the need arises, and surprisingly intelligent. I mean if he wasn't at least somewhat smart after those millions of years, it would be a waste right?

Anyway onto the actually novel,... more>> it has descent plot, can't say too much about it at the moment, but it's enough to keep me guessing and interested, and that's enough for right now.

Characters besides the MC, are sadly boring, at least right now. They either talk tr*sh about him, or just straight up disregard him until he slaps them in the face, satisfying...... At least at first, if this continues the way it is, than it'll just be another PMG, MGA, MGS etc. But hopefully based off the direction things are heading and the MC, it'll only get better.

So overall, I'd say to those sitting on the fence unsure if they should start anther novel for various reasons, give it a chance it's worth a read. <<less

I don't know how to put it into words, I can just say it's tr*sh but I liked it but at one point it got too repetitive and boring and predictable. I just feel weird about it, I have a lot to criticize about it, yet it had it's charms too so was good to some extent, that's all.

Edit: currently at ch 3243.. It's not like I like this or something.. Just bored. Heh

Edit: 3811 currently, getting boring.

This novel is long, very long. So much that various character designs, worlds, main arc tropes, character conversations are repeated throughout it. The number of small fries with zero basic reasoning that come out in each chapter is abysmal. But at the same time there is something magical in this story and it is nothing more than the MC, Li Qiye is unique among all the OP protagonists from the beginning that I have read. It is clear that he has lived a very long life, so much so that... more>> all the interactions throughout history, except for a few, are mere memories that are forgotten as thousands of years go by. I like to divide the current story into two, repeating parts: The past that we do not know and the "new past" in which we accompany it.

The MC has a gigantic adventure throughout all the worlds, meeting various characters to whom he gives fortune if fate warrants it. After that, he leaves them and after countless years LQ returns to those places and experience what his actions caused, find them still alive, discover that the sect they founded was completely eradicated, see the descendants and commemorate the times in which they spent next to the ancestor. The novel begins just like that, LQ after millions of years of fighting against Ancient Ming and OVH recovers his original body and begins to wander through the 10 worlds commemorating the ones he once taught and and puttinghis plans into action. It is a bit strange the passage of these chapters because as readers we have no idea what happened in that time before the novel except for small explanations among the hundreds of filler chapters, something that we must unearth for ourselves. The second part of the work is after spending innumerable years to revive in Eight Desolates, here the arcs of meeting old acquaintances or legends of them also return, BUT this time we has readers know who they were, it is an experience that I love, make associations of who that person could be, to whom that object belongs, etc. And even with the immense number of chaps, there is still a lot of history to be revealed. <<less

I've followed this story from day one and at 4000 chapters I think its time I gave me impressions. As you can tell by the stars, I adore it but I should let you know why, though beware of light spoilers.

... more>>
Spoiler

There was a period where I was exasperated by it, ready to drop it. Normally for a cultivation story you would think it would be about a character growing in strength as they progress through levels. That is what I thought too but I couldn't be more wrong. Let me give you all advice I wish I had gotten when I started.

Ignore cultivation levels entirely!

When I started this novel I thought it would be a nice relaxing, if long, power trip. Nothing to think deeply about and something that would be some dumb fun. It is that but it is so much more as well, even if it has some issues. My biggest gripe would be that whenever Li Qiye (the MC) travels to a new place for some reason or another his cultivation resets and leads people to underestimate him which leads to some sort of s*upid conflict and eventually he shows his badassatude by casually slaughtering tons of people. By fourth time his cultivation is reset at about 2000 chapters in I was ready to drop it. There was no tension in fights and the author's overly flowery writing made it all but incomprehensible. He's so overly prosaic with his writing that fighting in chapter 500 uses the same description as in 4000. This is the second point one should be aware of:

Li Qiye wins! Period!

At no point in the 4000+ chapters has he been anything more than annoyed by fights. No matter his power level, he wins. Either through trickery, or OP items, or reputation, or connections, he is never even inconvenienced by his opponents. It makes sense in a way, at the start of the novel he is already millions if not billions of years old. One does not live that long without building up knowledge and resources that most cannot even imagine. But it does lead to a lack of tension.

Now, you might be wondering, why is the story good if the writing is over the top, the fights are boring and there is no tension? Simple, the third and most important point to be aware of is this:

While Li Qiye is the main character, the World is the protagonist!

Because Li Qiye is so OP and his story doesn't have tension, we turn to the world around him. And what a world! Whether by accident or intention, the author has managed to make the very first (that I have found) wuxia/xainxia/xuanhaun world that I feel actually reflects how a world with crazy strong people with super long lives would actually be like. For good and bad. At the start of the story we know the world is old by the fact that one of the disciples of the main character (someone who supremely influenced the world) has been dead for hundred of thousands of years and the sect he left behind is well past its prime and in decline.

Spoiler

We later learn that he didn't die for sure bur rather ascended to a higher realm where he also might have died (there hasn't been confirmation on that yet)

[collapse]

That is only the first hundred chapters. Where I am at millions more years have passed since the start of the story, the world has almost wholly changed. Sects and people we knew are long gone but the hints of them are still there. A side character here and there have managed to stand the test of time but others have lived full lives, achieved great things, shaped the world, and passed on. As an example, a turtle the MC used as a mount for a few chapters went from a nobody to sect leader before passing on. As readers whenever we get these little stories we are faced with the melancholy of what being a cultivator would be like. You are traveling a path to power but for all that, you have to say goodbye to friends and as the years pass you say good bye and must leave everything behind if you want to progress.

We often read in these stories that to cultivate is to go against the heavens and travel a lonely road. This is the only novel I've found that actually represents that well to the readers. Li Qiye acts as an anchor for the story, the only constant in an ever changing world. He isn't even the oldest being in the world, but what makes him special is his determination and steadfastness on his path. Everything and everybody changes with time, only Li Qiye remains. I feel that is what it really means to cultivate. Most novels have gimmicks, whether OP items, skills, or lucky chances, or side characters. This one has them but the only thing that is relevant to progress is a steady heart and determination.

[collapse]

I've rambled a bit too long for a review but it is hard to get across 4000 chapters and what makes this novel unique So if you want is summed up in a simple blurb here it is:

While the main character never changes, the world changing around him and the feelings that generate from that have kept me coming back to this story for six years. This is the only story where the vicissitudes of cultivation, the wear of millions of years of life and the changing world are conveyed to the readers. The philosophy, relationships, and burdens of cultivation are portrayed in a way that, while long winded, compels the reader to think. All in all a wonderful read if you can spare the time to really get into it and I can't wait to get more. <<less

This novel is a big disappointment through and through.

If you like OP MCs, then this novel might be good for you, but there are big caveats.

I thought that the majority of the prologue of the story was good. I'd say the first 1500 chapters is pretty good, and you get the overall feeling of the world the author is trying to build and the overall ending he's trying to write. Then after a while, you realize that the author doesn't give any shits about all the characters that he has... more>> introduced previously. All the author cares about is increasing chapter and word count - after reading enough chapters this is the overall feeling I get from the story now.

All those characters that you liked? Yea, they're just food to be ingested for a few chapters and flushed down the toilet NEVER to be heard of again. The way characters are thrown away is an absolute travesty and I wouldn't recommend this book to people unless they don't care about side characters. All I care about is side characters for a novel with an MC like this.

If all you care about is an OP MC who runs around on a journey and doesn't have any character development then this might be for you. He just goes through different sects/worlds/areas, picks up a few jewels, throws them away and the cycle continues. <<less

I'll be real my opinion is heavily biased. Edit: hahaha I made so many dumbass mistakes lol it's funny. Kinda embarrassing though, sorry for any pain inflicted to any who read. (Read at your own risk)

I'll put it simply I think LQ is the greatest thing about this novel. From what I've seen your either like me who thinks he's the greatest MC ever even though you basically know nothing about him. It's hard to really understand him not to mention the author can sometimes get the character wrong (in subtle ways of cause) like I'll be reading and I'll think to myself would LQ really act like this.

Back on point I've seen many people call him arrogant beyond compare and a genocidal maniac and slaughter (I believe the correct term is Butcher) your right his actions are exactly as mentioned. I feel it important to mention that behind ones actions you should always look at the intent of those actions.

I won't deny 70%-80% of this novel is tr*sh. Amongst that tr*sh sure there are the occasional moments where I genuinely enjoy my time reading this garbage content, you could liken most of ED to MC Donald's and the occasional moments I genuinely enjoy this tr*sh can be compared to MC Nuggets. For the most part I really don't like MC Donald's this has been the case for years, however I don't mind the occasional (every 5-6 months) 6 piece of MC Nuggets.

Thats my relationship with ED for the most part and if that's all ED was sorry but no matter how much I f*cking love LQ I'd have dropped this shot long ago. But that 20% that's what keeps me and any avid reader of ED hooked.

ED in my extremely biased opinion has all the essential elements to be the greatest f*cking xinxia LN of all time. The author just doesn't put them to proper use. I remember reading a comment quite recently regarding ED and it said "I prefer action instead of talk." Author: "Here you go all talk no action". That right there perfectly captures ED's strongest point and greatest flaw. ED has the greatest 'talk' I've ever seen but no action is taken to match it.

The author masterfully weaves these interesting characters, world lore and storyline's to create a rather profound universe but it feels empty because for the most part that profundity is thrown on the back burner and covered in a pile of shit.

SPOILER BELOW!!!! Warning below is full of spoiler I don't know how to use the things props hope I've done solid.

I mean one of the greatest ED moments is the time LQ spent millions upon millions of years convincing a clone of himself that he was someone else leaving this trump card lying in wait for millions of years. When that trump card finally came into play he used it to bring an entire race to extinction, a race so powerful, talented and terrifying that it once wreaked havoc on all nine worlds enslaving the myriad races.

A race so terrifying even the legendary tenth world had to banish them down to the lower nine worlds essentially skirting any responsibility and leaving it to the 9 worlds to not only settle the problem but also suffer the devastating damage this race inflicts in its destructive nature.

If not for LQ this race would have long ens*aved the 9 worlds, if not for LQ who else could possibly bring this race to extinction. I mean the only remaining member of this race that comes to mind is an Immortal Emperor who posses but a sliver of the ancient Ming bloodline and he's only alive because LQ forced him to periodically burn/cut this bloodline from his system otherwise LQ would kill him. I'm not sure if he's dead he wasn't mentioned much in retrospect but I thought it was of relevance.

Now I brushed across a lot of crucial information that would make the above even more impactful and make sense but this is what I mean it has the greatest talk I've ever f*cking seen and when the author uses that talk to take action you get some of the most impactful and insane sh*t ever. This is why ED has a average but stable community of fans who support it strongly. We read through all the sh*t because we love LQ enough to take the journey of sh*t with him even if it breaks our souls, I can't tell you how many times I've gone ape sh*t crazy because of this novel sometimes.

Not once have I thought of dropping though because every once and a while this author will speckle nuggets of gold along the path clearing the sh*t from my eyes and even rarer than that you'll get moments when sh*t down. God tier content comes out to play and every waking moment of every f*cking chapter is some of the best sh*t you'll ever read.

I can go on and on about how f*cking amazing it's cultivation system is specifically how LQ cultivates to him his cultivation realm isn't really important what he cultivates is the self or Dao Heart.

Spoiler

It's one of the only Xinxia novels I know that makes immortality such a distant concept and has a really intriguing take on its specifics, even immortal emperors who basically have infinite lifespans constantly have to hide away in fear of the almighty heavens awaiting the chance to send a tribulation down to smite them.

Speaking of the heavens unlike most novels this mother f*cking is written like a vindictive bit*h seriously, it's constantly hounding top experts and is no joke anxious to send down some lightning to smite them.

I mean you'd think at this level you'd either die in battle, to old wounds or even cultivation deviation (cultivation in this world is actually incredibly hard from the immortal emperor realm onwards in comparison) but no if your unlucky to head out of your hiding hole and the old Villainous Heavens spots you pew, it'd be the first to send an impossibly difficult lightning tribulation to smite you. (This actually happened, an immortal emperor shot took a split second to shoot an arrow killing a vicious and rather heinous character and well the Heavens spotted him and the rest is history.)

To sum it up, it is enjoyable early (first world), then MC start acting out of his character and novel turn into self fulfilling kind. Only read ahead if you enjoy skipping big chunks of novels.

[collapse]

This novel have many flaws, but let's talk about pros first.

Cultivation world is kinda realistic. You don't have endless stream of enemies, only bit stronger on paper then than MC, constantly getting wrecked. That's honestly pretty amazing, as most authors constantly just send protagonist to new "stronger" worlds/places when he run out of enemies. So here strength of enemies more depend on their lineage, treasures, arts than place they were born.

Another pros, people can think. Sure some are arrogant/provoke MC, yet especially older ones have some intelligence.

Cultivation system, not depending only on "energy" absorbed but more on comprehension, make it quite unique.

Fights are enjoyable early.

Well, that's it. Now flaws:

Cultivation. While earlier I mentioned it as pros, when it come to protagonist, nothing make sense. His current realm is rarely mentioned. All his starting "tr*sh" fate/physique/predisposition is changed into highest possible pretty quick. It take away enjoyment of MC crawling cultivation road, as he IS the best almost from start.

Treasure hunting. Did I mentioned that MC know EVERYTHING? Kinda ruin the fun.

Fights. While he had some challenges early, now he is just screwing around.

Companions and world building. Both are closely connected. While early companions still had some sense or purpose, they are quickly replaced by ignorant, weak, untalented beauties. Everything they do is pester around MC, while asking ret*rded questions. He then proceed to maybe answer them and grant them peerless treasures at the end. While some males exist around protagonist, they are only followers, not real companions.

Harem. First two woman were decent, as they had their purpose. Third one was bit forced while forth one was more comedic relief, then concubine. Then all went to drain. Every random woman were "accepted", only for not having something between legs. All this while million years old MC proclaim he is not interested, and saying stuff like "dao way is lonely". And as I mentioned in before paragraph, neither of them have talent nor knowledge.

Dialogues. More more then half of talk between MC and fluffy companion consist of: "Have you been here before?", "How did you knew that", "What it is???". And his responses are almost ALWAYS: "counted with my fingers", "some secrets shouldn't be knew". So MUCH fillers.

And final nail to coffin. Protagonist. You can swallow his arrogance, yet he soon start acting totally unfit to his literally eons of experiences, almost as from any random japanise isekai+second chance (time travel). Harem included.

A "praise me" novel.

1- Battle: Full of bullsh*tting, resolution comes with 1-2 moves and the result is obvious.

2- Logic: MC is an Avatar, a divine being in a human body and for some reason author tries to make it a secret... while the protagonist is awful at concealing... EVERYTHING! Come on, why is everyone so dumb? He's 14 y.o., 14! He activated Ancient Sentinels, defeated high leveled people and taught 300 random dudes with profound knowledge. And that's not even a spoiler, these 83 chapters are just an introduction.

3- Plot:... more>> Millions of years already passed and no tech? Why would anyone even pursuit cultivation after being cursed for so long?

4- Romance: There's a girl being abused, for no reason. <<less

If I had to use 1 word to describe the novel then i'd use 'frustrating'.

1. It has the rinse repeat method of storytelling where once the MC is acknowledged a 'bigger' villain pops out.

2. For the most part of the chapter, you can just skip it. I'm talking about 70% of the chapter. Like freaking useless half chapter cannon fodders just can't shut up. Oh he just killed lvl 6 person, surely he cant lvl 7. Oh he killed him with his fart. Now now now he sureeeeelllly can't handle... more>> lvl 8.

3. The MC is like a 'nobel laureate' who is 'reincarnated' in the body of a 6th grader. And yet he can't stop f*cking with toddlers to 10th graders. When he meets other say '10th grade toppers' he can't f*cking show some talent but just blabber rubbish like 'ill deal with you with my smelly fart'. If the opponent doesn't know about you how the f*ck is he supposed to behave in a meaningful way. Get your sh*t together. After that he just indulges in a meaningless slaughter.

4. You seriously question the sanity of literally everyone in this novel. Things go something like this:
Oh you defeated a 6th grader of my school. Let me send 2 7th graders. Oh u fked them as well. Let me send 4 8th graders now. Oh they are also fked. Lets just end our school like this (and this has happened more than 15 times already in the novel).

5. The female characters are the only characters in the novel with some personalities. But they loose it as soon as they become his companions. Like wtf.

The only good thing about this novel is that the main plotline of this story seems pretty interesting. This is the only reason I've read it till now. <<less

The plot is repetitive, MC is OP, lots of filler, lots of annoying characters, cliffhangers everywhere but even with all that said I find this novel very satisfying.

This story started off really good and then it went way downhill. The author is dragging this story out to make more money. It has a lot of pointless talking. The author makes random filler arcs. The MC stopped getting stronger. This story will have at least 5000 chapters and it may hit 10, 000. I dont got time for that. The author gives us tons of questions and very few answers. Countless things will remain Unsolved by the end of this story.

Let me start by writing about this novels good qualities:
- Story is very refreshing - MC has spent literally millions of years planning, gaining knowledge and planting items through the world;
-The most domineering MC ever with the ability to back his behavior;
-Supporting cast is fleshed out and have very distinguishing features, but from the spoilers I gather their development is neglected just to introduce more followers, so they too can be neglected and forgoten;
-Physique types are a very cool feature;

Now i'll start the bashing:
- This... more>> is the most dragged on novel i've read. Translators do insane job in translating 3 chapters almost every single day, but even if you drop it for 10 days and come back to read it you'll find out that barely anything happened. The chapters aren't short, but the dragged out dialogues and completely useless garbage fillers destroy any good will I have about the novel;
- Very complex cultivation. It is very hard to follow cultivation levels in this novel. It doesn't help that cultivation is never fully explained either. That with the 3 way cultivation means and different level of techniques make it borderline impossible to gain any idea of strength levels other than take the author on his words (which are also very vague). Physique types aren't well described- if you're gonna waste chapters atleast use them to make some impressions other than- this one is super strength, this one is super speed this one can go through attacks (and that is all the describtion we get for the immortal physiques) ;
- Useless fodder are constantly introduced. That is not bad in itself if they were killed immediately, but the author goes out of his way to describe them and their clans and their brothers and sisters and uncles and whatever, then we start a 5 chapter fight with the random fodder, then the fight get interrupted for 2 chapters and then and then....... So what should've been 1 chapter conversation fight and kill becomes 10 chapter one.
- Character inconsistency of MC. He is the most knowledgeable and unparalleled under the heavens and fears no one but is extremely reluctant to reveal his identity going out of his way to hide it at times, not letting even his blood sworn in on it. If anything he should've been like "Yeah, I'm the crow, f*ck you!", to be in line with his usual behavior;
- Not a giant fan of the harem gender either- for me it shows lack of imagination on account of the author failing to think of other ways to move the plot;

I could've lived with this novels shortcomings but the authors intent to strech out every single moment into ethernity. I rly hope translators drop this to focus on some more deserving project. <<less
