It is enjoyable enough to read to be above average. It is a pretty generic story with a good enough execution and difference to be interesting. The greatest strength of this novel has to be the fight scenes especially the one on one fights as the intensity and the details are conveyed pretty well. But honestly the harem here is implemented badly in my opinion. It has the good parts you can expect out of a harem but also the bad parts. The shuraba moments and the heroines are good... more>> while giving them enough development but you also have to endure all the frustrating denseness of the MC, the annoying background characters that get mad when MC gets close to a heroine, and the needless misunderstandings. I'm not against harem if it is done well but in this series the usual harem tropes are breaking the emotional significance of some good moments of the novel.
Spoiler

An example was when the MC is expressing his heartfelt gratitude towards his Master for taking care of him in the last iteration going even as far as sacrificing her life to save his but the way he is doing it is way too flirty (I mean who in the hell isn't going to misunderstand when first he said to go on a date with him, he then did a kabedon and kissed her on the forehead) despite how MC does not seem to love her in a romantic way leading to his Master misunderstanding what kind of relationship they had in his last life. Instead of focusing on the deep emotions of gratitude the MC is feeling, I am distracted by how unaware the MC is that his actions are conveying something entirely different than what he is intending and how weirdly innocent this thousand year old goddess is.

It is still a good series overall but it has a lot of things that could have been handled better. <<less

The standard run of the mill OP protagonist who got s**ked into a game story. While the execution is better than you'd expect, the tropes are still as standard as they could get.

The protagonist does no wrong, with things working out in his favor one way or another. All girls which are named and recurring end up falling for him, while he stays either unknown to their affections or uncaring.

The story gives a feel that the author was making up story points as he went, which is fine given that... more>> most of it is enjoyable to read.

Would recommend as junk food, read in a burst. <<less

The main character kills the video game protagonist because the VG protagonist is as close to a psychopath as possible in a video game world. Killing the protagonist grants the main character his own game system.

The story subverts my expectations. I expected a side character to fulfill the role of hero without any of the upsides. Heroes start out with better stats, higher growth, and exclusive end game gear. After the main character kills the VG protagonist, he gets the [Hero] title along with a limited system. The limited part... more>> is that he cannot distribute his stats or use the pay to win store. Everything else is permitted. The main character uses this advantage to create a better way to save the world. The author sometimes repeats chapters from other character's point of view. This can sometimes get tiresome, so I recommend skipping forward a little to when the changed POV covers new details. The harem and comedy part is kind of lacking, but the action may redeem the story.

The whole story onwards follows the same standards for Litrpg stories. The main character levels up, gets higher numbers, and becomes very strong. The story does get better, but readers have to push through the initial chapters to reach the better parts of the story.

I think it is good for what it is. I am just disappointed that I could not read what I wished to read. <<less

I Killed the Academy Player is an entertaining transmigration novel with fun adventures and a likeable protagonist. It follows Korin, who regresses back in time to prevent the world's destruction by killing the villain who caused it.

Korin has a refreshing take on the regression premise as he actively trains and prepares to alter the future, rather than just following the plot. His responsible use of knowledge makes him proactive yet still grounded.

The story utilizes the academy setting well, with school events and relationships proceeding organically. Korin builds up his abilities... more>> and allies at a reasonable pace through classes and practice. The system mechanics blend seamlessly into the storytelling.

The novel shines when it comes to action scenes. The battles are thrilling highlights, with slick choreography and clever use of Korin's expanding skillset. He's powerful but not invincible, still facing challenges.

The supporting cast provides a fun dynamic, with the female leads especially getting meaningful character arcs. The relationships develop slowly from friendship, avoiding instant romance tropes.

While mainly episodic, the novel manages to maintain an overarching narrative amidst slice-of-life chapters. Korin never loses sight of his ultimate goal even as he enjoys student life. The story balances high stakes and lighthearted moments.

I Killed the Academy Player executes the academy transmigration premise admirably. With a likeable main character, entertaining adventures, and excellent action, it makes for an engaging casual read for fantasy fans. The story remains consistently enjoyable throughout. <<less

I Killed the Academy Player starts off a bit slow, but ultimately delivers an entertaining transmigration story with likable characters and solid plotting. The protagonist Korin regresses after the hero fails to defeat the villain, vowing to save the world and help those he couldn't before.

The novel shines in its action scenes, which are vividly described and paired well with the heartwarming story arcs focused on Korin helping the heroines. The positive tone and the MC's heroic motivations make for a refreshing change from the prevalence of evil/antihero protagonists. The... more>> comedy sprinkled throughout also lightens the mood.

The pacing is fast but not too rushed, finding a good balance between Korin's strength development and progression of the storyline. Side characters feel fleshed out with their own purposes instead of just being wallpaper. Romance develops naturally over time instead of the heroines immediately falling for the MC.

While the setting of an academy in a game world is fairly standard for the genre, the novel still manages to feel unique thanks to the charismatic protagonist, well-executed action, and uplifting plot. Fans of transmigration stories looking for a heroic lead and addictive plot will find I Killed the Academy Player delivers plenty of entertainment value. <<less

The story starts with our protagonist regressing after the hero fails to kill the main villain of the story and the world is doom.

Korin Lork, the protagonist of this story, swears that he will be save the world and save every person he couldn’t in his past life.

One of the greatest aspects of this novel is the action combined with the story arcs of the heroines. And also, but not as important is the comedy tone this novel some time has.

Most of the first 80 chapters revolves around Korin saving... more>> people at the same time he does everything he can to become stronger. Also most of the arcs until now are about Korin saving or helping the heroines of the story with their problems. So you should be aware this a harem novel.

Overall the main apeal of this story is the MC, the actions scenes and the heroines plus the comedy undertone this novel has from time to time. <<less

this is a good novel. To be honest I didn't get my hopes up at first because it had academy written in the title. But it turns out that the content is good enough, so it's suitable for killing time.

and what I like the most about this novel is the development is fast but not too fast. Unlike other novels which are also about transmigration to the world of games and academies where even in 100+ chapters his strength stats etc. Are still F and even the storyline has only... more>> been running for a few weeks. <<less

Protagonist:

Spoiler

The protagonist of the novel, after regressing, sets his sights on killing the player and single-handedly saving the world. The protagonist is a morally upright individual who does not let his principles become an impediment to his goals. He is rational and strives to save as many people as he can within his scope of awareness. His oaths of saving the world and not ignoring the misfortune of others reflect his commitment to doing what is right.

The protagonist in this novel should not be referred to as a saint, as he values allowing good people to have a best ending. However, this does not mean he hesitates in killing those who he deems necessary to eliminate. He embodies the characteristics of a chad, a definitive hero, distinct from the self-centered individuals found in typical cringe Chinese novels and the hesitant beta depicted in junkfood Japanese novels. This unique hero is perhaps only found in this masterpiece, making the protagonist a truly remarkable character.

Pretty interesting so far, all characters do have their roles, not just MC and his harem, we can see real homies, friends. Plot are enjoyable, pretty good twist (afro teacher).

Harem:

Spoiler

Rich Potato mommy supermacy. The female characters in this story are all exceptional and play critical roles in the plot. Each of them brings unique qualities and charm, making it difficult to choose just one as the "best girl." Their contributions to the story's development cannot be understated, as they provide depth and complexity to the novel. In short, it's refreshing to see a story where every female character is a standout in her own way.

I definitely enjoy this series quite a lot. The main character has to put actual effort in to get stronger and actually plans ahead in a way that most series don’t bother with. Most character interactions are reasonable. That being said, character events happen faster than feels realistic, like some other reviews pointed out, however that itself is mostly fine because it’s based off of a game.

its still interesting, but it is starting to feel a bit like bog standard character writing. We have immensely dense MC, and perhaps too many characters. It kinda feels like the author is struggling to manage all the character relationships while not giving them each enough time to grow. There also seems to be a kinda heavy parallel with Ending Maker where the MC and crew can't really do any real wrong, but this story is missing the witty banter and endearing antics that make that aspect enjoyable.

C78 review

It's still... more>> really fun and the story arcs have been interesting. I don't think it's the most innovative sorry, but it is well executed.

Marie (blue girl from cover) is an absolute babe.

I don't normally do such early chapter reviews, but I wanted to just put a review out there since there aren't any others.

The first arc of the story is pretty good as far as reincarnated with game knowledge genre goes. I also really enjoyed the first couple chapters that had the twist in it, but it really doesn't play that big of a role in the story at least so far. It does provide nice motivations for the main character, though.

I think it has potential to be a pretty good variant of this type of story although you have to be worried about how the romance is written... I don't want it to fall into the standard harem tropes where girls fall for MC for no reason. To be clear, this hasn't happened yet but I am still early story so I think we will see more of how the author approaches that in the second arc.

It appears genesistl is picking this up, with more releases starting in December 2022. I'd recommend giving it a try. Will update as I complete more story arcs. <<less

Without a doubt, one of the best novels I have read in a long time.

Very good world construction, characters with well-defined background and evolution, interactions between characters or world-characters also very clean. I was delighted.

It is clearly not perfect, for example, at the beginning several secondary characters appear who seem to be very important to the plot, but in the end they are forgotten and do not have much background, being removed when they are busy in battle.

Or also elements like the inn that was very important in several arcs... more>> for several chapters, but was never mentioned again at a certain point.

However, regardless of its flaws, this novel gives us epic battles, funny moments, a nice romance (most of it at the end), and a beautiful happy ending.

On the other hand, I liked the harem in this story. I'm a person who definitely says no to the harem, but this story was different, I really enjoyed it, not only because the majority of the female cast is very fun to read (excluding Marie, who is annoying), but also because of the attitude of the protagonist towards the harem, since he is a supporter of monogamy, but he was forced to have a harem by his precepts because his survival depends on it haha.

In short, a very good novel and totally recommended. Although warn that, although it seems short because of the few chapters, those few chapters can last between 15 and 20 minutes each because of how long they are.

Not good at making reviews so here goes

The novel has a good start, it starts off a bit slow but delivers a consistent story. It has decently paced development with enjoyable content with a unique-ish plot. Works well as novel junk food honestly.

It has well written characters with good writing with reasonable interactions with the side characters. Although MC being thick as a brick in some situations is kind of annoying, like I get bro went to an all guys school and the military but bro is either denser than... more>> tungsten or consciously avoiding them most of the time. While it may not be the most creative plot wise, it offers a good romance and comedy filled read outside the more serious parts, which is entertaining, especially the mindsets of some of the female leads lmao.

I love how the MC, despite being the cardboard cutout goody two shoes kind of guy, doesnt feel as annoying to read unlike the other mc's who act like this. MC also shows considerable growth considering all he really has is his flunky player system, runes, and his honed spear skills from the first run.

As others have said, while the early parts feel slow and dont do the later parts justice, it is definitely worth reading through the slower parts to get to the meaty and better parts. Overall this novel deserves a 4/5 and is a fun read, and spear users are cool man.

If my grammar felt off in the review, I am sorry as english isnt my first language. <<less

the plot is great... and the characters are well fleshed out, but goddamn it turned into a generic harem by the time arc 3 finished... its like playing a galge, you have heroine arcs that you need to conquer and then off to another one... also its funny how the MC Korin is oblivious, or maybe he is pretending to not notice considering he had the nerve to say can I kiss you to his master in the time loop - but to be obsessed with being called Oppa when... more>> 2 of the 3 want to marry while the other trying to do adultery is downright ridiculous... <<less

The novel is good so far, in my opinion for the reason being:

•Yandere Harem-many may dislike it but in my opinion it is one of the charms of this novel.

•Kind mc- although he is kind, he is not naive enough that he will actually spare an enemy which is good enough for me.

... more>> •Side Characters are not there to just glorify the mc's achievement.

•Comedy- the interaction between the love interest is just hilarious.

•Weak to strong mc- the MC actually trains to get stronger after all his cheat is non-existent under normal circumstances.

Now the reason I gave this novel a 4 star is:

•The MC is just extremely sense thus the romance aspect is just as slow as a snail. <<less

One of the top Yandere novels currently available

Pros:

  • The prologue utilises slapstick comedy, and unexpected events to drag the reader in. Although it may seem odd and rather out of place, it sets the tone for future chapters, both in its comedic storytelling and the events to come
  • Characters feel realistic and the climax they face builds upon their character
  • Each character is brought to the forefront thus making each "love candidate" resonate with the reader, giving a fair reason for the female leads to fall in love with the protag
  • Translations are clear
  • Arcs do not drag, rather they complete as if a present wrapped with gaudy ribbons
  • Female leads are adorable
Cons:

  • At points, especially those that do not concern the female leads, but rather develop the story, does get rather... boring at times, however, the grind to see the leads jealous is enjoyable
  • The main villain fails in appearing as a significant threat, which undermines the stories progression

A good novel overall, one of the better ones with the academy/fantasy setting from Korea.

However.

I am honestly tired of MC being a pushover with the love interests. It honestly doesn't work like that with women. Or maybe it works because the love interests all have a screw lose lmao.

... more>> Otherwise, however, the setting is good, the premise is good, the characters are, well, good or at least original. It's just that MC is one dense MF and the things author thinks work on women don't work IRL.

Btw, the TL site has another good novel, with similar failings but even better (Demon Limited Hunter). I recommend that one more. <<less

It is the usual tropes. The only difference is that some aspects are better written compared to most others. Characters are more developed, their inner monologues are quite common to read and add more personality to each of them.

It's a unique story as far as the game based genre.

MC is a likeable guy and all other characters are also somewhat likeable.

Story plot is a bit different compared to demons vs hero trope.

... more>> The power system is a bit vague but kind a based on the hardwork and talent.

MC is a funny enough to not being a drag.

And it is a mixture of regression and possesion based story, as MC is possessed a game character but then regressed after the first iteration failure.

And don't worry this not BL or focused on harem so It is quite good.

MC is quite relatable and rational guy.

Scenarios are a bit different then other game based novels

Overall it's a good story as of 41 chapters so you can give it a try atleast.

i really like this story its a consistent and well rounded novel if you came looking for a complex story then this is not it. First of all something really nice is that korin actually acts like a adult and deal with things maturely instead of beating someone up the moment someone looks at him wrong. The characters also feels flesh out with each playing a purpose in the story whether minor or large also the FL don't immediately fall for him but develop their feelings over time.
