If you're fine with an completely unrealistic plot line and a complete bit*h of a female lead, then go ahead and read. The story follows no logic at all. Female lead gets hit on by annoying cab driver so she throws a rock at him and leaves him a big ass bruise. Female lead gives the male lead a black eye, never apologizes, but barges into his house and eats dinner with him, literally the next day and practically every day after that. And the male lead is perfectly okay... more>> with some random chick who physically assaults him, TWICE, coming into his house and cooking dinner for her. <<less

The summary doesn’t really do the story justice.

The female lead, Lan Shan is fairly normal while the male lead, Qiao Feng, has a high IQ but low EQ. After a few misunderstandings, they end up as neighbours, where they start to develop a slow but sweet relationship based on their daily interactions.

LS and QF are both likeable characters – strong, adaptable, flexible but slightly immature in terms of romance and they take their time realize their feelings. The story is not particularly complex, but it reads well. QF... more>> is also a very sweet and caring house husband despite his low EQ.

However I do have a few issues:

Spoiler

1. Song Zi Cheng was left off lightly despite spiking LS’s drink and attempting to r*pe her. Since the roofie technically didn’t work on her, she let him off... yeah the story loses a point just for how this situation was handled.

2. Their initial interactions and misunderstandings weren’t paricularly funny and felt rather forced i.e. mistaking him for a s*x doll, thinking he was gay, etc did not feel particularly believable or realistic.

3. Aside from the two leads, the side characters weren’t really noteworthy – so much so that I wasn’t even motivated to read the XYC and WW love story. Can’t tell if its because their interactions just werent appealing, or if they were completely overshadowed by LS and QF.

SWEET and it is the perfect length! I love the two leads! I am glad the female lead is not dumb and knows how to scheme! The male lead was a total sweetheart and so pure, loyal, and dedicated. The perfect waifu!
Spoiler

Not to mention, he even knows how to cook and cooks for her daily~ I wish I had a hubby as sweet as him... /Sigh~

It's a sweet one. Surprising at first (because of the scene in first chapter, then I remember this novel is targeted toward elder female), and had a lot of light misunderstanding, but without drama. Which is nice.
Recommended for people who are searching for light hearted comedy romance.

Spoiler

I gave the main story 5, but the side story with Xiao You Chai 3. I just felt like their relationship is not healthy and is one sided. That, and I dislike "Lie to Me" drama that the translator used as novel image source

Incredibly dull. The writing that is. It feels like there is absolutely no detail in the story.

"So-and-so goes to work only to find out "Male Lead" is the one they're meeting. She worries that he'll out what she did so she keeps staring at him. In the end, he rejects the meeting's offer and her boss blames her, accusing her of leering at him."

This is how the story flows, in a weird present tense monotone. It's almost like someone is recalling a more detailed story they read and they're summarizing... more>> what happened in it to a friend. Just so.. Incredibly boring and dull. <<less

A really sweet and funny story. The comedy comes from the super genius Qiao Feng who really lacks common sense in his interactions with the various people around him. Plus there is the adorable little Schrodinger.

The interactions between the MCs are hilarious and I love how their love story progressed.

Overall, it's a light read. Not too much drama, just the right amount to make the story more interesting.

I love this so much. I often go back and re-read it.

Ch 1 - male and female lead meet unexpectedly in
Spoiler

an adult exhibition where the female lead and her friend accidentally think that the male lead is a male s*x doll.

I swear I was hooked from that point on.

The bad ratings are likely because the female lead seems is quite shameless in the beginning. By shameless, I meant that she did intrude in the male lead's house because of the nice-smelling food and has been coming there ever since uninvited. Honestly, as someone who's moved out of the house and sucks at cooking, I'd do the same. If she wasn't so intrusive, we wouldn't have a romantic plot to read to begin with. Maybe some readers didn't like that she didn't apologize at first? Well, she does apologize later on. There was that one time where she hit a rock towards a cab driver hitting on her which I admit was going too far. But, I'm not cool with the constant cat calls irl either.

Maybe, the bad ratings were due to the assumption
Spoiler

that seeming as*xual = gay for men?

[collapse]
Although, that was more of the friend's fault rather than the female lead's fault.

Other than that, I don't know why you shouldn't read this novel. I try not to be offended/think too deeply about a plot when I'm reading this to relax myself.

That's all I can remember right now. I'll likely read it again. Even the side characters are hella amusing. The relationship between the brother and her best friend. Too funny. All I can say is give it a try. <<less

The main story is so cute. Both characters have very good personalities as well.

My favorite thing about this story is that you actually see the two main characters fall in love with each other.

No big conflicts or serious misunderstandings! Just a really hilarious and sweet romance. Almost every chapter had me grinning ear to ear. While not exactly alike, this is almost like a Penny x Sheldon pairing from Big Bang Theory, but without the gag humor.

For those not familiar with the TV show, the heroine in Rice Pot is basically a rather charismatic and upbeat girl, but not necessarily the most “intellectual” person out there. While the male love interest is a smart eccentric man but falters a bit when dealing with... more>> people. <<less

The story was quite entertaining with a very minimal drama involved but still not enough for me to give it 5 stars. Maybe because I couldn't agree with one of MC and ML's action where:

Spoiler

They used other people to test each other's feeling. MC used her boss who had a crush on her, inevitably hurted him in the process while ML used her ex-girlfriens who obviously still had a feeling for him.

But overall, this story was still okay to pass the time since it didn't take long to finish it.

Story 4.7/5, TL 5/5

Moonblossom did a wonderful job w the translation and I love her musings and little notes at the start/end of each chapter.

Sceond time reading this story as I've completely forgotten that I did and I find myself loving it as much as the first time for the very same reasons.

... more>> I enjoy intense, heart stirring and gut wrenching romance very much but at times, a light hearted fluffy piece like this one just hits all the right spots.

Who doesn't want a high IQ, rich to boot yet humble and domesticated Husband? Oh, not to mention his incredibly supportive family? Brb while I find myself a Feng Qiao. <<less

I can't say I was expecting such an entertaining romance given the synopsis, so this story was a pleasant surprise! Still, despite cheering on the main couple, my favourite characters remain Big Wu, Little Xiao, and their Baby Bears.

Good story, both FL and ML have this amazing chemistry that feels so natural

i just think it was a bit lengthy and it could have ended with about 60 chapter, some chapters were dragged

the transition is really good and generally it’s a fluffy and light hearted story with nothing major happening just goes with daily life events

The translations are okay but its only a summarization so.. :/ Although it does not affect the whole story, im uncomfortable at the fact that it is only a summarization lol.

Anyways, Lan Shan and Qiao Feng are so cute! The misunderstanding aren't too heavy, it's a light-hearted novel that you can read with ease. I love how Lan Shan is an independent woman and Qiao Feng is the typical High IQ nad low EQ male lead but thankfully does not affect the overall sweetness of the novel.

The friendship between Lan... more>> Shan and XCW are quite realistic with advices that makes you want to smack them but when the other is in trouble, the other will be by her side kind of friend friendship.

I have some misgivings with the 2nd ship though. I do not like Wu Wen's bullying. Sure he likes XCW but how can he make fun of her feelings like that? I'd really be hurt if the one I like for 12 years makes a joke of my feelings. Is he a f*cking primary schooler to be so mean considering that he also likes her?? God how annoying.

I had to grit my teeth to continue the 2nd ship's story- and at some point, I Just sigh.

Simply because it's so fluffy and it makes a reader feel good.

The translation is well done.

... more>> The plot is not too convulated, there are no major conflicts. And I really really appreciate the laughs.

I had a few hearty laughs because of the lines, they have caught me off guard time and time again, making me feel that these are realistic conversations between real people. How else do you expect people to follow a script in real life, right? And for me, that part of the story is really well done.

The dynamic of the characters is very very well done as well. Even the side characters that are not fleshed out doesn't seem 2D and just 'there'.

There are clichès, but it's never to the point of being grating on a persons nerves, at least to me, in fact I am willing to overlook it.

Although there is a feeling that you are reading about teenage people instead of adults, but, since OTP is both virg*ns in love, it's understandable.

Spoiler

Big Brother and Baby Vegetable in the epilogue are more 'adult', in terms of conflict and overall interaction, if not for these two, I will grade this novel lower.

What a sweet sweet romantic fluffy and funny novel????

With a genius handsome ML of high IQ but low EQ and a beautiful FL with normal IQ but who seems dumb to our ML.

The side characters are cute too and there interactions are intersting too.

The summary doesn't do the story good. So I hope that everyone would give it a shot.

I was fun reading it. Story was different and interesting. Characters were well crafted. Loved the ML and MC and their interaction was very fun to read. Pacing was good I just felt that female MC's parental side should also be treated the same as the male MC's. It was a bit unjust.

This was quite funny and cute... in some places, improbable, but this is a romance, so a bit of suspended disbelief is necessary! The leads are both sweet and charming. Male lead is typical high IQ low EQ person while female lead is a beautiful girl, but defensive and wary of males. I love how their relationship develops.
