In his previous life, Shen Zhen was in love with his childhood friend Qin Yue, and was willing to give up anything for him. But in the end, Qin Yue’s true love was someone else. He hated the other, but he was unable to do anything about it.

However, during a party, he somehow ended up in a one-night-stand with another.

After his death, Shen Zhen discovered that he was only a malicious antagonist character in a book – the protagonist being Qin Yue’s true love, the person who directly caused his death while putting on an innocent facade.

He had previously believed that being kicked out of the Qin Manor was because of his drunken mistake when in actuality the whole situation was part of Qin Yue’s true love’s scheme.

In this life, Shen Zhen returned to the day after his drunken mistake. With the opportunity of rebirth and starting over, he decided to keep far away from the main protagonist couple and instead hug the golden thigh of the head of the Qin family.

But what Shen Zhen did not expect was that he would became a source of calamity in the eyes of others.

Immaculately dressed in a fine three piece suit, looking very dapper and genteel, Qin Xing said while smiling: “Let everyone know, you are mine.”

It's just OK. At first I had high hopes because I like the reborn & revenge type, but towards the end I enjoyed it less. Presumably it was because of that annoying white lotus, he was like a c*ckroach that always appeared but never died when beaten.

Truly, I have almost never had hatred for white lotus like when I read this novel. This hatred even bothered me in enjoying the story. I feel that the author is too exaggerated for this white lotus behavior. I feel okay if white lotus... more>> sucks, but the way the author describes it disgusts me. And most annoyingly, he didn't even die.

I'm not a good person, but the author is too kind, he doesn't let a single criminal die. If you can endure a story like this, please give it a try. I'm not going to read it again, it's a bad experience <<less

To be honest, IDK why I read this. I'm usually not fond of modern-day romance novels. Wait, no. I remember, it's because I read one of the author's other works and was curious about how a person who wrote such deep worldbuilding fics would deal with a book for ordinary romance. Turns out, it's still pretty good! Definitely far from my favorite, though that's more a matter of taste. This novel is a lot better than some I've read before for things like character development and plot. Each character felt... more>> very real to me, even if their main characteristics were sometimes overexaggerated. The plot too, despite being somewhat unbelievable, was interesting to read. ALL IN ALL, This is a novel with a lot of problems. But most of those problems become not so problematic because of the good points. Like, it's not meant to be perfect, so don't take it too seriously. Just enjoy the character angst and drama, as well as the face-slapping against the typical white lotus character.

__________

SUMMARY: The MC of this novel is called Shen Zhen. He's the oldest son of the current master of the Shen family. However, when he was 5, he was sent to the Qin Family -- the most powerful and most wealthy household in China -- as a "hostage" for benefits. Ever since then, he grew up in the Qin family and was raised with Qin Yue (the ML of the original story). He thought that the two of them would live happily ever after and was content with life, for the most part. At least, he was comfortable enough that he felt it was okay to save others from suffering. This 'other' is called Su Shiqing (the MC of the original story). Su Shiqing was your typical white lotus. When he cries, everyone feels sorry for him. Also, as the protagonist of this world, he was born with luck and the ability to attract the strong and powerful around him.

Overtime, Qin Yue, who had always loved the MC, began to distance himself from him. A rift was formed between them time and time again. Until, finally, the MC accidentally slept with someone and was forced away from the Qin family. Just like that, his life was over. He had no future, and before long, he died. The story officially starts at the moment of his rebirth. It's the day he had accidentally slept with someone. But this time, he chose not to leave the Qin family voluntarily. He stuck around, wanting to find a way to officially break off with everyone and establish himself. It's a surprise that he catches the interest of the master of the Qin Family, Qin Xing (the ML of the novel). From then on, his destiny completely changed.

_________

RATING: 3.85/5

Since contemporary romance is not really my thing, I didn't give it too high of a rating. However, I still enjoyed this novel very much, and would probably read it again. Though it will be a while before I do. <<less

Shen Li is my favourite character, there that's how much I love this novel.

MC leading a band of mini villains for redemption was the best part of this novel

Also looking for handsome uncles with good body, rich that want to pamper me. I would forget what I want to do after I was reborn and just want to go driving with him and play around 24/7.

I love this novel even though there are many illogical and unrealistic things. However, that is the fun of fiction. Whatever you want and imagine can be true.

I honestly don't understand why it has a poor rating. I found it both funny and tragic. The characters are distinctive and well-written. They have their own personality and changes as the novel progresses.

My favourite part is the extras. I like that there are conclusions to other CPs. If the Main CP feels like their relationship is very natural and destined, then the... more>> other CPs feels like an explosive chemical reaction due their personalities. <<less

The plot is pretty old school with rebirth and revenge as the theme... classic but drama is always a good thing in novel as it keeps the reader intrigued. I haven't read that far to see any character development so I can't say for sure if I'm going to like the MC/ML...I'm even considering dropping it but a couple chapters more probably won't hurt to read.

What really bother me was the transitions in the novel. It's so weird almost as if there is no transition. For example, you see... more>> character A and B having a conversation and then suddenly character C start talking with character D so you assume these 4 characters are in the same time and place but nope out of the blue the scene shift to a random character and the reader is left with "huh? what happen earlier? Did I just skip a few paragraphs?" It's very, very weird that it breaks the flow of the story and emotional build-up in certain scenes.

My understanding of Qin Xing (ML) and Qin Yue (Protagonist in the original novel) are like the emperor and the crown prince. Our ML is the emperor while Qin Yue is the crown prince meant to succeed the ML in a modern setting. Qin Yue valued both MC and the white lotus differently. For Qin Yue, MC is the general meant to slay his enemies and pave a path for him to be the next emperor while white lotus is his queen who exist to support him both emotionally and sexually. From the start of the novel, it was implied that white lotus and Qin Yue have s*x quite often and everyone in the Qin family (even servant) know so they treat white lotus better than MC since MC has no backer.

After rebirth, MC decided to climb the emperor (lol, the ML) bed instead and be the queen to slay the crown prince and his lover (future queen). Qin Yue still values the MC but only because he wants MC to be his right hand man and pave the path for him; he does not like MC nor want to have s*xual relationship with MC. There was a part in the novel he told MC he needs MC and he also needs white lotus because white lotus have a different position in his heart and hold different position from the MC. <<less

Think I read up to Chapter 5? 8? But anyway, realized that the MC has 0 morals and everyone else in this novel also has no morals which is why I felt like I was watching the usual "MC and the strong backer ML" trope but written from a villain view point😂😂 the MC even said that if he was this other guy he would have killed his older brother before he became an adult because if you're mediocre in the family you need to remove those who are better... more>> than you "early". The ML is another one with a weird no morals villain vibe where he's actually acknowledged as having killed several of his siblings for the family business...... this isn't a palace story but in modern times which just makes it that much weirder. <<less

Don't be discouraged to read this novel because of some low reviews because I could testify that the novel may have some plotholes but it was a good read. The drama is not lacking, face slapping is not too gruesome, and the romance was just right.

Side characters also have personality which is a good point.

It was truly a fun and heartwarming novel. Even though I was on a trip yesterday, I couldn't resist leaving some time to continue reading from where I left off.

And honestly, Qin Xing's love for Shen Zhen was charming. After a life alone and with the person he liked, now deceased, he took a risk and managed to be reborn just to see him again. However, he had to mask all those feelings while hoping that MC could fall in love with him – although he also understood that if... more>> that didn't happen, he would have to settle for seeing him happy.

I also want to highlight one of the characters I liked the most but unfortunately couldn't read more about, Shen Li. In the past life, he ended up badly. MC recounts that despite his entire family completely ignoring and mistreating him, it was Shen Li who approached and gave him some money, even though he had also fallen into disgrace due to the white lotus.

Ugh, speaking of him, he was definitely the character that annoyed me the most. I can't believe he was given so many scenes that were very difficult to read. Su Shiqing is completely ridiculous. I didn't understand why he kept reappearing. Even MC and those with a normal IQ understood that Su Shiqing seemed to have something wrong in his head.

I also want to talk about how Su Shiqing's luck disappearance was explained. I won't go into details, but I want to say that I really liked that they mentioned it and explained it a bit.

And don't even get me started on the extras – I loved them. They added an extra layer of fun and showcased much more romance. Specifically, I loved seeing the conclusion of the couples that were shown and the plot chosen for them. Boss x secretary, and the versatile couples. I mean, I didn't even see them coming. It was like a gift from heaven. The first couple added a lot of fun, and the second couple brought some more excitement.

Although tragic, it was a very fun and entertaining novel. ❤️‍🩹 <<less

It was pretty good, but still had some flaws. The original protagonist Su Shiqing had a strong flavour of green tea, being annoying and funny at the same time.

Spoiler

Personally, I felt like the author should have made Qin Yue regret a lot about treating MC the way he did for the sake of his green tea Su Shiqing. But maybe the author is right to let him have his own HE, because he probably was just blinded by protagonist halo and lost his free will.

[collapse]

By the way, I liked supporting characters a lot. Strongly recommend to read extras about them. To be honest, I even liked them more than the main pairing. <<less

This novel is definitely entertaining, I didn't stop and read it until the end. There's a lot of face slapping and revenge going on. In terms of romance, I didn't really feel the romance between MC and ML, the age gap just felt weird and it felt like ML groomed MC in some ways. I just didn't feel the chemistry. There's quite a few plot holes too and things that were not covered. However, I really liked the romance of the other extras, wish there was more about them actually.... more>> Overall it was entertaining and cliché. <<less

It's not as bad as what the other reviews say tbh. It a little dramatic but I think thats what makes the novel so entertaining hahahaha. Very cute and sweet but at the same time, the face slapping parts are not bad. I also like the side characters quite abit. For example the MC's business partners/friends and Shen Li. Even the female secretary is kinda cute.

I like the ML the most tho. Hes v doting and in some ways patient. I like how he never pushes the MC's boundaries and... more>> always wait for him. He also shows him how much he cares through his words and actions leaving almost no misunderstandings between them. Communication is key guys! <<less

I really want to give 4 star rating but I just can't do it. I like reading face-slapping dogblood novels. And the much older gongxyounger shou is my favourite. But there are things in this novel that I just couldn't brush away like ... more>>
Spoiler

when the antagonist went to ML's office to do the cleaning, the ML was so angry and demand to know who entered his office. And then his secretary asked the cleaning service supervisor about who did it and the supervisor framed other people because he was close to the antagonist. I mean, didn't they have CCTVs in such a big company

[collapse]

Like, most of the characters have no brain. The ML is so OP and there's no setback for MC to reach his goal. And idk why, after reading so many transmigration rebirth novel I just can't hate the antagonists the way I used to be. I mean, just imagine if we saw the whole thing from their POV and they're just the same as other characters. The world's consciousness force them to do everything according to the plot.

How sad that would be. <<less

4.5 really

A standard faceslapping novel, with low IQ villains but at least its explained by plot

What I like is that this MC is truly cold and ruthless with feelings yet at the same time we can see the tiniest bits of softheartedness, even if its very pragmatic and only returns favors for people who helped him in this and in the last life no matter how small. He remembers each small kindness and each large insult

About the past

Spoiler

I wondered why didnt ML help him in his past life but the reasons are truly excruciating, imagine being a lifeless puppet for decades before regaining control, and we can truly see how he does his best to shelter MC to compensate in this one

[collapse]

The communication in this was very good until the end, both parties talked clearly even through embarrassment or insecurity so there's very little drama even in the few spats there and there, and I like that ML always does ask MC before doing a truly big gift or offers his help, the knowledge that what he thinks is best or what he wants to give MC may not be what he himself wants and is ok <<less

It’s not a bad read. It’s an usual trope of reborn and face slap, bits of dramas and mental brain dead villain. The plot actually doesn’t write too heavy dogplot, if anything I feel its a bit slice of life, as MC tries to better his life and lives better in his second life. Its just he can get more or revenge his grievance because of the ML support. Along the way he also free himself of his past and heart knot. There’s a sparingly mentioned of the world consciousness... more>> and reborn factors and halo. So it’s kinda explained the background plot. But not throughly. Maybe its short so nothing too explicitly explained. I like the extras, the side cp s deserve a HE. Thank you <<less

To be honest, for me this was decent: it's not my favorite novel but neither is the worst one I've read

If you read the other reviews you'll get an idea of its problems but maybe because I wasn't expecting much (or anything) I enjoyed it more than I thought I would

I think its current rating is pretty good (3.9)
