Amakawa Haruto died before he’d the chance to reunite with his childhood friend who disappeared five years ago. Rio, a young boy living in the slums seeks revenge for his mother who was mu*dered in cold blood in front of him when he was only five years of age.

There exists the earth many know of and there exists an alternate world. Two people, each with their own backgrounds and values. For odd reasons, the memories and personality of Haruto, one who should have died resurrects in Rio’s body. As the two are confused over their memories and personality fusing together, Rio (Haruto) decides to live in this new world.

Along with Haruto’s memories, Rio awakens an unknown but special power. If he’s to use it, it looks as if he can live a better life, but before that, Rio encountered a kidnapping which results in involving the two princesses of the Bertam Kingdom.

After saving the princesses, Rio is given a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy, a school for the rich and powerful. His background being a poor orphan who once lived in the slums, the school full of nobles was rather a detestable place to stay at.

The author tried to write a novel about Gary Stu, her ultimate boyfriend, but realized that it wouldn't actually make an interesting story.

To solve this problem she made Gary emotionally female so he wouldn't be able take basic steps to resolve simple problems.

That took care of the plot because now Gary needs to spend all his time resolving drama which could have avoided with literally by speaking a sentence or two at the right time, however this solution created a new problem of I don't care about any of these... more>> characters or their self-inflicted drama any more. <<less

I don't know what to say or how am I supposed to rate this novel.....

I've once decided not to read this novel cuz of the comment but after few months of forgetting it now.... I decided to go ahead to read it w/o checking the comment.......

MC had this super loyal love for his childhood friend but got saperated...... when they reunite in high school.... he saw a man and lost his courage there and then...... the next day the girl when poof but the MC still loves her till college......... more>> and delivered by truck kun.....

In another world he still felt atrachment for the love of his life.... and even tho several female show interest on MC.... he stayed loyal to her..... and after 50 chapter or so enters the childhood friend and I finaly feel that it is going somewhere..... but few chapters into this new arc I felt a very bad premonition from the foreshadowing and decided to once again read the comment section......

All I can say is THANK GOD I read them before going too far...... I thank you all commenter of this novel for pointing out one of the most s*upid NTR (resulted from mc's inability to be a man) ever...... I'm outta here before I read another spineless jap MC create another misunderstanding that COULD BE AVOIDED IF THEY JUST WENT STRAIGHT AND TALK! Sorry, can't help it..... this remind me of another story where the hero was kicked tricked into leaving just cuz some third party told him some lies and he didn't bother to use his mouth to ask his party wheter it's true or not and just leave!

I guess i'll rate the novel 2..... sigh..... such a waste of potential.... <<less

First of all I don't know why every one think power is everything.

In this Ln MC wants to live a quite life at start. Than after many trials and error he tried to change himself but don't want to be used by others. And I love the pacing of the story and how every character gets development time.

And if I have to complaint about something that would be lack of MC male friends.

And one more thing Wn and Ln are totally different after volume 4 and chapter 110.

The MC is really knows how to get on my nerve. If only for not his weak minds I suppose this novel would come to an end without wasting this many chapters. With his overpower strength he always slow when push come to shove, like taking long time dealing with enemies he could annihilated them in an instant even when his comrades facing another danger. His everlasting denial when other party expressed their gratitude for his deed, it happen throughout this series. Or when he thinks he's not suitable for... more>> the girl his love, while one sidedly decide others feeling toward him (their feeling mutual though). Let's ignore the fact that he is dense protagonist, chick magnet and flag breaker because it's typical harem story. <<less

Gonna be talking about and comparing both the LN and WN here, also will only be giving vague and minor spoilers.

First off I'll talk about the WN. Lots has already been said about the plot and characters so I'll concentrate on about the pacing of the story which is my biggest gripe.

Up till Act 4 (chapter 50) things are fine, but starting that Act the author decides to throw in 4 heroines each with their own problems into the plot. The problem is that the author can only focus on... more>> 1 plot-line at a time and because of this only 1-2 heroines are part of each of the following Acts the heroines not involved basically do nothing. To make things worst is that the following Acts may introduce more plot-lines further pushing some heroines back. Like for the 4 heroines in Act 4, 1 heroine is part of the story all the way to the end of Act 6, but doesn't reach any sort of conclusion (author decided to make her delay her confession right at the last moment, also when I mean conclusion I mean the current problems/plot-line is resolved). Another played a small role in Act4, did nothing Act 5 and finally had some conclusion in Act 6 cause she was the main focus. The 3rd heroine is the childhood sweetheart of the MC and is he main focus of Act 5. What has frustrated me and many others is that here the MC had hidden his real identity and near the end of this Act the MC was FINALLY aboit to tell the heroine everything, but author decides to pull the cliche of someone coming in to interrupt everything, then proceeds to set up an entire scenario where they get seperated and the MC doesn't chase after her so it leaves us hanging for who knows how many more Acts before the MC reveals everything. Finally for the 4th heroine her plot-line has been constantly delayed and hasnt even been started yet despite being in Act 7 which starts at chapter 143, also doesn't help that shes the mysterious heroine with very little known about her and that the hint to her story is already known but keeps being pushed back for other plot-lines. Another thing is that the heroine introduced in Act 2 basically hasnt been even mentioned since the end of Act 3, but wouldve been part of the plot again if the author had pursued the plot-line of the 4th heroine in Act 4.

The LN on the otherhand has fixed most of these issues from what I can tell (at the beginning of vol 5 now, Act # = volume #) the story remains pretty consistent to the WN version all the way to the end of volume 3 with minor differences. After that it really deviates. Instead of having 4 heroines introduced only 2 are really introduced and are the main focus, the 1st and 2nd heroine is mentioned only is mentioned in passing and only becomes part of the plot starting in volume 5. The 3rd and 4th are the main focus and at the end of volume 4 its decided to pursue the 4th's plot-line which also leads back to the heroine from volume/Act 2 instead of leaving it for several Acts later like in the WN. So overall the pacing is much better so it doesn't feel like some heroines are useless tag alongs for entire volumes/Acts so far. <<less

In the world where people have more than just a few screws loose, the MC makes his entry. Somehow, some unknown special drugs (or local shrooms) give everyone a "nobility madness", which makes everyone think that the whole world revolves around "nobility" or even more "royalty". Those in question seem to be mostly elevated reincarnations of your everyday leeches, who seem to be not producing anything, except problems to each other, which they try to solve afterwards or make someone else solve them. The whole "royalty" madness is mixed with... more>> out-of-place drama moments, which, in most s*upid ways, are made into even more complicated situations by the characters, who are seemingly cooperating probably under the influence of the aforementioned shrooms (which are blocking any rational thinking, most likely) to make the things even worse.
In the beginning the MC has some, albeit very little, ability of sober thinking. But skip a few tens of chapters and you will see that the MC is getting infected by the "nobility madness" and is gradually losing the ability to think for himself. The story is progressing... towards somewhere... in the "nobility madness". But that is it.

The drama introduced against the plot consistency combined with the world building defects create more and more plot holes as the chapters go by. The author is desperately trying to cover the plot holes later, but, like in Apple software, one patch to cover a single bug, creates 2 new bugs instead.

From around chapter 150 the author starts losing it, meaning that the new chapters are just inconsistently and randomly populated by some hallucinations without regards to the whole story, i.e. poorly linked with the rest and not enjoyable for literature content immersion (i.e. you could see the plot holes instead of enjoying the reading).

Verdict:

World building: 1 out of 10 (plot holes, almost everyone is outright insane about the "nobility" and "royalty" thing).
Characters: 8 out of 10 (only a few though).
Story continuation or completion: 1 out of 10 (the author loses it in the middle, making the following chapters not quite enjoyable to read "... it makes no f*cking sense !") <<less

It start off with the MC being reincarnated into shitty condition, father died, mother died horribly too, ended up in slums. Things got lucky for him, when he manage to saves the princess and enter the royal school. However sh*t goes wrong again, MC got bullied and targeted, had to flee due to being framed.

The later part shows his "training journey", going to his parents homeland and learning skills from near extinct demihumans.

Around c 60?, the plot starts getting interesting. Without spoiling too much, his parents are actually quite important... more>> ppl in their country, in addition actual heroes from japan were summoned to the world (including his crush).

To make it realistic, some of the heroes are dicks (allied with the bullies), some almost got captured into s*avery, some were being used as war potential.

The reason I only gave it a 4 star is because the author chose to take it realllllll slow. The MC goals always get disrupted along the way
Spoiler

(he originally planned to revenge his parents, however the summoned heroes event added alot of complications)

[collapse]
He still did not confess to his crush (OMG its almost like those draggy love drama). Judging by the translation speed, we will probably be dead by the time the story is fully translated. <<less

I thought that the chapters so far have been phenomenal, maybe I am a bit biased here compared to everyone else, but I think they are being somewhat unfair in regards to the novel. I felt that this novel was one of the more realistic isekai novels in regards to how people will actually interact with others and behave in society and gave that sense that everyone is just trying to live their lives, ie. Not everyone will stick up for someone else especially against nobility or those higher than... more>> you in society. The story proceeds in a way that Rio is ostracized due to this black hair and commoner background and he is trying to live idly at the academy after saving a princess from being kidnapped, but no one wants to get associated with him and he ends up being bullied. Keep in mind that this novel also caters to the protagonist later on which gave me much joy as it would other readers. You always know who the protagonist is as he is quite capable and earnest, albeit OP, but still generally caring for people. He has his own problems as does everyone else, but he makes up for that with his own effort and his interactions with people are always great to me, especially when he makes a genuine connection with someone. The reunions are also especially looked forward to. <<less

Frustrating. It's just one downward spiral. The lack of plot isn't a license to derail mid-story into a 40-chapters plus bender of a slice of life.

You get all this setting, but no effort to expand on it. At some point, it became that average isekai novel people love to dump on.

Weird pacing, and I get the feeling author crammed too many qualities in MC, but those could be biased.

despite some negative review, I quite like this novel.
if I have to call it, normal. Pace, character development, romance, and other things are pretty balanced and in normal level. Despite all those normalities, I find the story is a bit better than the stereotypical fantasy novels.

so far this novel don't have much action, and more into traveling, and (I'm sorry) translation is a bit rough at some chapters since translator doesn't have permanent editor or proofreader.

It's great and all, but romance is tragic had almost no progression at all we can see how the all the females around him are in love and confirm each others feeling about him (without him knowing) and they try and the best progression for some is to sit near him on the sofa or ask what are his preferences. One actually kissed his finger (once) but that's about it from double digit woman. With how much there is written about their fellings and affection there could have been atleast... more>> a kiss with one with them.

MC is OP apart from the moment his childhood he could control spirit arts he overpowered most of his oppments. But there are some logic fixed needed like he struggled with an oppment but latter defeated several times stronger or he says the oppment he faced could have struggled with a monster when he was struggling himself even when we know he won against that oppment easily

Character development around volume 15-16 don't get close persona latter he gets closer.

If you don't like harem novel with 0 romance progress basically over 20 volumes. Or that most of the contents are for developing more affection with each other Better not read.

Still will give 4 starts for the trouble of reading that muuch <<less

Ch117 in - if I could rate this lower I would. The MC gets dumber and dumber the longer the story progresses. At first I though he was just naive and a wimp tryng to change but men this sucks he became dumber and he became more balless. This is the worst MC I have ever read.

I must say the MC here is the very being of what a man should not be. A wimp, pushover, not to mention rejecting a girl with no proper explanation or closure. Having... more>> powers but no balls. The story is quite nice at first because I thought that the MC would improve but no. Ch50 and there were no visible improvement. Its like the author is destroying his own story. It would've helped if the MC had some kind of unique personality like other novels where the MC is smart but shameless. Here what I can see is a balless MC that should be matured enough but isnt, should be smart but isnt and whole lot more. If you want to read this novel, just dont. Its a waste of time. <<less

Well, this story isn't bad, but isn't that good either.

Almost all of the male heroes (except one) are annoying, typical jealous-arrogant brats, who seek nothing but women the MC has.

The MC isn't exactly dense, but he always tries to avoid answering others' feelings for them. He is also really passive, not killing or blaming anyone or hating those who destroyed his life. The author tries to make him look intelligent, but the way he doesn't take advantage of his position as the ... more>>

grandson of a powerful king, and use that as a leverage to find the mu*derers of his parents, which is his end goal

[collapse]
is just dumb.

The female characters are bland and feel 2D, but none of them has any annoying traits so that isn't a problem for now.

The author always tries to make his volumes thrilling and suspenseful, which is why reading this series is kind of like torturing yourself, as you already know that the volumes won't have a satisfying ending for the suspense they had built up (ending as in a volume ending).

Overall, not a bad story, but not really amazing.

It's better than those tr*sh isekai novels (like Isekai Wa Smartphone), but it falls short when comparing to novels like Overlord, or Isekai Tensei Soudouki, or maybe even Sevens. <<less

It's easy to understand why the author dropped it, this novel is so incredibly frustrating it's actually amazing.

In short, the MC is a gary stu-type of character, i.e., he's perfect in every way, except that he's suuuper dense, you know how it is. The twist, however, was that he had already a romantic interest he was crazily in love with. It goes without saying that my expectations were not fulfilled.

I kept reading expecting it would get better, because, early on, there are some really good moments. There are some actually... more>> satisfying character development moments marked by a slightly darker tone compared with most harem isekai WNs. Yet, the author just kept adding useless harem members, useless exposition, and useless plot devices.

The translation quality also somewhat ruined the experience, though it did get better on the later chapters as there's an editor with a good level of English working on it.

Despite everything negative, it did provide me with entertainment, so I guess it's okay.

Side note after reading the 10 volumes of the LN that are currently translated by J-novel club: The author does fix a couple of major issues that completely ruined the WN version, namely, everything regarding the main love interest, and thus making it substantially better. However, it made me realize that there are still really badass moments that the author either skipped entirely or is planning to made them somehow fit later on, so the WN is still worth a read, at least up to chapter 150 or so. <<less

The typical isekai "revenge" plot, except it's even worse

The OP-ness and harem has already been described by earlier reviews, so i'll skip on it.

The MC... he... is dense and beta ?

... more>> Nope. I'll put in the correct word. He's limpy and s*upid.

He just let everything goes on, from bullying, abusing to being the third wheel that broke off and fell somewhere on the road. I can't even tell if he gives or not some f**ks at all. Dense and s*upidity is two different things. If you put any other MC from other isekai's in to his place, they would have done it differently, I'm sure of it.

Do you even ask a guy who's clearly on the girl to deliver a love letter to her ? Before that, he even lived together with the girl, no less.

Also, aside from being pacifist, I suspect that he's also an M.

The world building is nice, but the guy's a lost cause. I guess that the ending is they'll reunite when they're 80s or they're on heaven, or something. <<less

Stopped at chapter 105 since the MC just got to a level that I couldn't handle. This is from chapter 50 onwards of the WN

I get why he is treated like tr*sh in the beginning even though he saved the 2nd princess. He's basically a political prisoner who's lacking in education and power, and doesn't understand anything about the variety of magic that appears to him. This does happen in certain countries in reality. Also about not telling his childhood friend that he is Haruto. He's nervous (who isn't... more>> when theyr'e close to someone they like) and doesn't want to guilt her (Hey, I' dead ya know) but his weird idolization towards her is creepy.

That being said, he doesn't act like a guy at all. He makes no effort to clear up any misunderstandings, is overbearingly humble, does not use his new knowledge about his background to his advantage, is indecisive towards women who have feelings for him. Also the additionally characters add nothing to the story.

Spoiler

When he saves Miharu under his alias Haruto, here's a certain part of the conversation

Miharu: Your name is familiar to a childhood friend of mine. (This is a golden opportunity)

Rio (what he should've said) : Is that so? Do you like him? Is he someone special to you? (Easy closure, done)

What Rio really said: It's nothing. (What the hell is with this s*upidf*ck answer?)

Finds out he's a prince, so he's technically Royalty, still let the lower nobles treat him like tr*sh in a foreign country. Why? He could've mentioned he's a higher noble from the Yagumo region and says he knows the king there.

He defeats a new demon in front of Liselotte, save Natalie's friend, while Natalie is witnessing the fight, cut two knight's swords in a restaurant, and stops unknown bandits in the castle and once again saves Flora with a bunch of witnesses. And then when he's thank he could just go with a simple it's nothing. But no, he just has to say some dumb long flowery prose about how he's totally unworthy, unskillful, there are more talented people around there. The heck? That's just pushing it and kind of disrespectful.

He's decent looking, is multi-skilled and talented, so of course there's gonna be a lot of girls that like him and flock to him. Still doesn't do anything about it. Here comes the weird obsession with Miharu again. He saves Celia from her political marriage, goes home and ignores her and talks to Miharu. Goes to a ball with Liselotte, ditches her to talk with the hero girl (Satsuki), Basically frees Satsuki from the castle for a while and yup, doesn't say anything about it.

Miharu and Aki and Masato basicaly do nothing for months. Don't find out anything about him. We learn about the 4 heroes, and they're useless. Barely any insight into their personalities.

[collapse]

LN goes a bit in a different direction though and Rio acts a bit more like how a guy would. Still dense though, just not as dense as WN novel. So that's a little improvement. <<less

I started out with the manga which caught my attention and picked up the novel from its latest update.

All in all it's a nice read. Chapters provide enough detail on the world and the novel doesn't take itself too seriously.

The problem lies with the author's perception of the male character. The main point is that our MC, after reincarnated into another world still holds an unrealistic sense of loyalty towards some childhood friend. Which some readers may find romantic, but when the author tries to emulate human relationships realistically this... more>> 'red string' trope sticks out like a sore thumb.

The author depicts her idealized version of a male persona, which would not be a problem if she stayed consistent with the MC's actions to his granted traits.

While displaying an emotionally intelligent mindset, the MC does the 'Orimura Ichika' at the most improbable times.

The author tries to instill some weird monogamistic virtue by presenting 'flags' and possible 'harem routes' just to wrap them up and cut em off by saying: the MC is loyal to a girl who supposedly is already dating someone else.

All in all I would probably f*ck the author and then her best friend to make a point that this weird possessiveness is really reflected in her writing and maybe she should tone that down. Give some balls for her 'son'. <<less

Pros:

MC isn't an otaku, chunnibyou, or in his teens when he is reincarnated. (He is relatively a normal college student with high specs ie. Looks, upbringing, athleticism)

The beginning starts off dark and mixes it into the story well, there are moments where you can see the ugliness of society/humanity (there is r*pe, mu*der, abuse of power from other characters)

MC shows proper japanese style culture, ie. A lot of respect, formal tones, greetings and bowing. (You don't see this often in other novels where the MC... more>> shows respect to authoritative figures)

MC's backstory is fleshed out well and explains his prowess and talents well unlike other novels where they received cheats from gods.

MC isn't completely ignorant to love and affection

Timeskips progress the story to gloss over unnecessary fluff and helps make the novel not feel too long.

Cons:

MC doesn't deliberately build a harem but it is still built trope

MC is near perfect, its hard to think up any actual challenges on his journey

Personal Cons:

In the beginning, the proofreading and editing made the novel pretty cohesive, everything fits well and nothing felt out of place. Several chapters in, around 30/40+ are when there is a noticeable drop in quality. Japanese words started to appear over their English counterparts, names were changed, meanings and purposes started to be jumbled. It is very prominent in the chapter I am currently reading. It is to an extent where I feel like dropping the novel solely because of terrible editing. Its as if they through a book into a paper shredder and tried to build cohesive sentences with whats left.

All waifus are basically lolis - My con, probably your pro. <<less
