I really love this story!!

The FL is strong, ambitious, talented and believes in herself!💓❤️‍🔥

The ML is STRONG, and also really cute☺️

... more>> The characters are also pretty good and each one of them has its own personality and characteristics which made it really easy for me to tell them apart😌

If you like FLs with really REALLY strong personalities then this novel is definitely for you!👍

p.c.: there's not that much romance in the main story cause the FL focuses on becoming stronger and making the people she cares about also stronger.

I'm not sure about the side stories cause I didn't read them🫣😳 <<less

Almost done and got to say this series was nice that it really put in perspective of support role part in dungeons. How they are unappreciated while they also guide in background.

I’ll be honest. I’m a full time isekai romance reader. If the romance is to slow or not really there I won’t read a story. But I had this on my maybe list for months taking it off and stumbling back to it, and when I finally decided to read it I found it to honestly be such a good read

It’s very entertaining. The MC is smart but also well portrayed on not believing in herself on relationships because of her past. It’s so well done. And there is constant... more>> cute moments between the MC and the ML that even though the romance is slow it’s still so enjoyable. I was skeptical about reading this but it’s so interesting and well done. <<less

It's a really well written story. Slow burn romance but in the end it was worth it. I just wish it had more side stories about Jun and Meyer bonding with the kids

A nice, light read :]

Romance

Jun (MC) is a strong-willed, stubborn character. She knows what she wants and always has her goals in mind. This makes Meyer (ML) a good pair for her because he's similarly ambitious and regards her abilities highly. They're both equally dense though, so much that the author included a tiny gag about how Jun acts like a typical romance lead that everyone (me) likes to criticise. The bulk of the novel is Jun trying to rationalise/berate Meyer for being overprotective and socially inept,... more>> while Meyer fails to understand that he's being Weird (and later on, Why he's being Weird). The Good Stuff occurs in the last quarter of the novel, and even then it doesn't really take the spotlight for long. I liked that the leads actually communicated (Ultra Rare in romance novels) and were able to settle their problems "quickly". I say this in quotes because

Spoiler

in the canonical timeline it takes about a month or two, but the author is so generous with timeskips that it's usually resolved either within or slightly over a chapter.

Background Lore

The worldbuilding is decent (the bar is underground) for a romance fantasy - there are brief mentions of the dungeon ecosystem and the mobs it houses, as well as different character classes. That's about it though. The dungeon crawling in the novel is vague and usually occurs in the form of character dialogue or brief descriptions of what they did. Skills are named and Jun casts spells, but every dungeon scene can be summarised:

    1. Jun says they will go to the dungeon
    2. Meyer is overprotective and Axion (Very Strong Fire Wizard) wants to come but he is too OP
    3. Sevi (Youngest Child) complains before and during the dungeon, Juelieta (Middle Child) is macing something, Nova (Oldest Son) sometimes banters with Sevi. August (Religious Man) makes a dry remark, and Began (Kind Uncle) is a nice old man
    4. Level up, timeskip a few months after they clear some dungeons
The dungeon scenes aren't really used for worldbuilding, but more for establishing the different characters' tropes and personality types.

On the topic of tropes, there was an attempt to subvert some of the common RPG character picks. There's August, a priest that isn't skinny because he tempers his body in the name of St. Marianne; Axion, a flame mage that acts c*cky in fights but is actually just a big magic nerd; Julieta, a shy monk in training that becomes a Mace-wielder. Nowadays, these aren't as uncommon anymore though. Because of the pretty large cast, the characters were given short backstories (some tragic, some normal) that were resolved within a chapter or two. The author really plays into the found family trope, which backfires because after the main story,

Spoiler

Jun doesn't really interact with any of them outside of Sevi.

Characters

The main villain, Fabian, is so mid. Like yeah, his dialogue is scummy and he's a terrible person. That's it lmao. Nothing much to say about him because he's very 2-dimensional.

The large cast made it really hard to develop the characters evenly and well. I really wanted to read more about August and Axion.

On August:

Spoiler

His main role in the novel is to mediate between the leads. That's because his character archetype is a stoic guy that is very blunt. Thankfully he isn't there to create a love triangle, because the author always emphasises through his dialogue that his only love is praying and St. Marianne. He's either used as a gag (i.e. Jun finds him weird because he somehow manages to justify all his actions in the name of god he worships) or a someone who spurs Jun to take action to improve her relationship with Meyer. I wish we learned more about his backstory (there is none), but there's nothing to him aside from he is Very Religious and has Dry Humor.

[collapse]

On Axion:

Spoiler

I wish the author used him more to expound on the Magic Lore since he likes to talk about magic so much. I also wanted the author to address what he does/how he feels after the war, especially since St. Marianne said that magic would eventually die out since she's no longer around to give blessings to people. Not to mention, there was so much of him nagging Jun to go dungeon crawling with him, but it never actually happens. Even the fake dating arc was boring because the author didn't write about whether he and Jun spent time together, let alone the details of their fake relationship (like. Not even a mention of how they started dating aside from "6 months ago"). If you're gonna include a fake dating arc then at least let it have some impact on the story, or include some funky dialogue about them coming up with the fake deets. It didn't even further the Jun-Meyer relationship because Meyer knew it was fake the whole time GAHHHHH. Anyway. Axion is just a silly little guy and I wanted to know more. Alas, he was relegated to the Jester role.

[collapse]

On Tragula:

Spoiler

I liked Tragula. He was someone who was shackled by his past mistakes, and I'm happy that he was able to break free from his abusive relationship with that weird countess. I especially enjoyed the few paragraphs in the last side story, about him and his son :]

[collapse]

On Jun:

Spoiler

Nawt gonna lie. I laughed when it was revealed she was just a Jun enjoyer in her previous life. The whole reason she transmigrated was because she was the only one who finished the game with a max-level support wizard in her party. All because she liked Jun. She's so Real. I, too, keep characters in my main roster because I like them, and not for the stats.

maybe i'll get hit by a truck too and become sylvain jose gautier fire emblem because I kept him in rotation for every battle

[collapse]

On Meyer:

Spoiler

He's like. Perfect. He respects Jun and her boundaries, and the memorandum thing about only dating after defeating the demon king was so funny. Me personally I would not sign that but I suppose he loved her enough to wait for her. It's sweet but also kind of pitiful how he molds himself into Jun's ideal type after he asks her about it though. Every interaction after she answers his ideal type question is just like. He hears that she likes obedient men so he stops voicing his concerns. I suppose it's because he trusts her more, but I just don't really like the idea of it? It's also funny that he basically becomes a trophy husband by the end of the novel. Like slayyy keep on earning money with your black knight merch? Good on him for finding a purpose outside of dungeon crawling I guess?? It felt like he became a gag character at the end of the novel. That is his fate as a puppy dog male lead I suppose.

[collapse]

The novel is neat and I finished it in one sitting. It's not perfect, but definitely in the upper ranks of KR romance fantasy novels. I'd recommend it as something to pass the time with :] <<less

First the good. MC is fun, reasonably active, competent and smart. ML is fine and there is a good number of interesting side characters. The overall premise is also pretty enjoyable.

Now that bad. The pacing. As of c99, nothing has been done. Our MC still sits in the ML organization base and is yet to venture out to get any achievements. Next, repetitiveness. The number of times a side character went 'Wow, captain is doing X (handholding, complimenting, etc.) ! He never done this before!' for a paragraph or so... more>> and then FL retorted 'no, it can't be' is probably above 50.

Next, I personally have a problem about handling 'stigma against enchanter supports.' The way the abilities are presented, it's completely justified. It is 100% not worth to bring support mages like our MC into dungeons. Numbers are just too low and there doesn't seem to be buffs that can affect the entire party. It can only benefit parties with hypercarries like ML or OG ML, but then all the glory inevitably goes to hypercarry which brings us back to step one.

Edit: gets much better after c100 when things finally start happening. C100 by first translator, so about c60 by second translator. <<less

I just love all the tropes in this novel so much. We have the overprotective male lead, selfless but still smart MC, and the antagonist who gets what he deserves in the end.
I really enjoyed how even though Jun is selfless and totally willing to risk herself for the sake of others it’s only for the people she especially cares about. She doesn’t go risking herself in situations that she isn’t sure that she is going to still be safe if the end except for once. The ending was... more>> predictable but the writing was good enough that I still cried. <<less

Meh it's 50/50 great ln if you're looking for adventure story. Not great if you're looking for romance. Because it happens like in the last what? 20 chapters of a 180 something ln.

Jun and Meyer have a coworkers to lovers relationship where they are squad captain and vice captain first, sort of friends who respect each other later and fall inlove way way way after their dungeon closing goals are done with. Sort of like the CEO and CFO who say they're too busy for love because the company needs... more>> to become a fortune 500. And AFTER their career goals are achieved. Then ok, they've been inlove all along. They're dating now. Which is mightily convenient if you ask me.

But as an adventure story I highly recommend. I was invested in the world building and the elite squad leveling up and all the secondary characters going from underdogs to elite superstars.

I just forgot this was supposed to be a romance. Because the title is 100% right. She is NOT the lover of the final boss. There's actually very little loving written in this story. She's his comrade, his vice president, his ally. I honestly find it baffling that people in the story would think she's capable of having a romantic anything. Because like seriously, nothing about the FL indicates she's capable of romantic attraction to ANYBODY. An as*xual being who lives for the job. Why do people think she's got a lover?. Which honestly is a little ridiculous with the almost asexually monk like attitude the character was written <<less

Its a really slow romance - not much romance here so far actually, so this novel is more to the adventure side. But still its a good read. Its well written and well translated. I actually love the plot and yeah it got me curious about what will happen in the end. Can't wait for the next updates~

p.s: i'll edit again later when I reach the ending

----------

... more>> Finally finished reading this. My conclusion: I love this novel until the end!

This is a novel full of adventure, exciting fiction stories about dungeons and demon war. Slow romance, but really, it was a beautiful love story between the two. Would totally recommend this novel!

Btw, thank you for the author and the translation team for this novel :) <<less

It's pretty good but the early chapter (first 8-12ish) are really boring. The pacing is slow but the characters are likeable. The romance is also very slow and the MC and ML both seem completely oblivious to their feelings over 100 chapters in, especially the ML. The MC is smart and capable, although at times it feels like she has a support spell for everything, and it really makes you wonder about the logic of supports being ostracized.

It's worth reading the first ~30 chapters to see if you... more>> like it, they're pretty short chapters so that's only 30 minutes to an hour of reading depending on your speed. <<less

The translation beginning from ch 85-ish was kinda bad. It was understandable tho.

The whole story was kinda so so. Like not bad but didn’t rlly sway my emotions and it wasn’t something groundbreaking either. Nothing was extraordinary.

All in all it was an okay read but it definitely isn’t a must read.

10/5 really if I could rate it higher, the world building is very cohesive and things mentioned offhand at the start make more sense later on as the story develops. Jun is also a smart MC but not overpowered, rather she's smart because she played the game inside out before even getting transported to the first playthrough. The villains aren't just s*upid villains but are intelligent in some ways, and its their human hubris what causes their downfall.

ML is dense and MC is even denser so it makes for a... more>> bit of comedy but thankfully it isn't dragged on too long and they actually do talk and resolve misunderstandings. ML is very jealous even when he knows he should dial it down but it's less possessive and more jealous puppy type lol.

Don't want to write more just in case I spoil it but it's a very good novel and the extras are satisfying as well, will definitely reread again in the future. <<less

Truly one of the best novels that I have ever read, so much so I had to write a review. I love RPGs, and I love when characters are reincarnated into them, so to have a female protagonist for the first time is so amazing!! It may not be for everyone, but I will defend this novel till my dying breath. If you are also a fan of the OP male action novels, you’ll like this.

Read most of this on an official platform and finished with the translation from here.

This story is pretty good for a fantasy-medieval setting. You have the FL who is a bit of a brainiac, the ML who is a crouching yandere hidden sweetie, and an antagonist who thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Throw in some regression drama and you have a rather nice story that fits with a "in-a-game" setting.

It's not the most awe-inspiring plot or writing out there but it's rather enjoyable. Especially the parts... more>> about:

Spoiler

The fact that the main three characters remember the previous lifetime as that's part of how the plot worked in the game (just with the FL also getting the memories despite not being an actual character from the game). And the fact that the ML's personality is a 180 from the first time around because he experienced the betrayals according to the plot and watched his friends die (he chooses not to be close with them this time around so he doesn't have to suffer). The FL interfering in things does make him open up again but only to her. It's rather cute.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The ending revelation that the real "big bad" had set everyone up by infusing part of his soul into the person who was supposed to be the hero. Which meant that the goddess of that world now focused on the FL to help stop the utter destruction of everything.

[collapse]

There is a very sweet moment in the end of the story that I won't spoil but the ending of this does feel satisfactory. We find out what happened to the original owner of the FL's body, why the hero is batsh*t insane and why the ML acts the way he does. We also get some hilarious moments that fit with the characters.

Spoiler

Like the super strong ML terrified that he'd hurt the FL so he doesn't do the deed with her until she convinces him to. And then it involves drugs and chains. It's a lot funnier than it sounds.

[collapse]

All in all, a pretty good read for a day. <<less

For korean shojou novel it's 4.8, oh and I suggest u to look at ch 100 then search ch 1 from the translation, bcs there's 2 translation, after I saw someone who mention they're focus on clearing the dungeon well.. I reluctantly agree, bcs our MC and ML had such a setting. Workaholic MC and dungeon obsessed ml, their romance is ok.. I'm just glad that they 1vs1 although there's also some that charmed by MC.. but it not the annoying type.. they keep it around MC and ml.. for... more>> me that's what is rare for korean shojou :'' they need put pregnancy tag on it.. I thought I'm not gonna see the buns.. but they give us 3.. although it just a brief :'' idk it bcs the dungeon and ability leveling that I don't find their misunderstanding annoying (when ML keep denied that he love MC, and MC think so too) at least they keep the logic... their setting is not brainless.. they talk about their feelings.. and that.. a plus plus... <<less

As a great enjoyer of this genre, I would like to say that this novel was certainly better than what I expected. I liked the world-building, I liked most of the characters and also the story was pretty intriguing too. While I did enjoy this novel a lot as seen from my rating there were some parts were I believe could have been handled better.

-While I mostly did like the pacing of the story I have to say that it was a bit unproportioned if that makes sense. From the... more>> beginning of the story one thing that we heard all the time was the last Demon King dungeon that our couple would face at the end as expected. I would not say that it disappointed me but you know I expected more from the most anticipated dungeon of the whole novel. It could have been better fleshed out or idk maybe some more drama could be added at the end. It was too bland imo since I expected to be caught off guard in a way like the story had potential too. In 10 chapters it was over which really is too little

-I expected more from the antagonist. Idk why the author made him more s*upid than the first cycle. I feel like he was made to be too s*upid. Not even once did I think the antogonist would be a problem which is a really big problem. He just acted braindead all the time and somehow MC knew all his moves beforehand. I understand that MC is smart but it just didn't make sense at all.

-MC was too clueless for my taste. It wasn't too overboard but still sometimes I really felt like the author was deliberately trying to make the story longer by making her MarySue type.

-Ending could have been better it was meh

Now that I'm thinking storywise it was a bit lacking but in my case I rate based on my reading experience and overall feelings. I liked the story, I enjoyed it a lot so I recommend it <<less

I don't know why this story was marked as "completed" because the translation was still on going for the side stories. Well, at least the main story was finished.

I enjoy this story because the storyline and the world building was good enough but if you love adventure novel very much, maybe you would be a little disappointed because the adventure wasn't very detailed except for the final battle. The story focused more on MC's relationship with people around her and how she established herself in the Black Night.

If you want... more>> to find some romance, maybe you would be frustrated because the romance was very slow and both MC and ML were a bit dense. It took more than third quarter of the story before they got together so don't expect much from romance department.

But overall, this story was still enjoyable to read so I don't mind giving this full stars. <<less
