Xing Ye couldn’t accept the sudden death of his younger brother, and as he searched for answers, he recalled the QR code he once saw on his brother’s phone. Having a photographic memory, he was able to quickly sketch out the QR code. Upon scanning it with his phone, he then finds himself transported to an all-white room, where, at the very middle, a giant cube was afloat.

Xing Ye then learned that his brother was a player in this Game of Challenging Fate, and to learn how his brother died, he signed himself up to it.

Later, he gets ahold of a sentient mirror, and the very existence of it hints at the truth of what this Game is really about.

I have a ways to go before I get as far as the other viewers (my reading proficiency makes me rely on proper translations, MTL is too much for my small brain, lol), but even with just the two arcs I finished, I can tell it's a gem.

MC may seem cold and analytical, but he helps build up the people who prove themselves trustworthy and doesn't treat people like disposable cannon fodder. I've already fallen for the first side character teammate he gains, and apparently, the others will be just... more>> as dynamic and interesting according to others' reviews, so I'm very excited for the chapters ahead.

The ML is really cute and silly in your typical rich second generation way. Their dynamic is really great so far. As they get closer, I'm sure it will only get better. <<less

Although I've lost access to my original account so can't edit my review, I've now read many other books in this genre (of world hopping puzzle solving) and while many of them were good, this one still stands above the crowd. If other novels with have 4/5 stars for puzzles, 3/5 for characters, 4/5 romance, etc, this one is 5/5 for every aspect.

The characters and the worlds are developed in a maximally satisfying way, so that months later I still find myself thinking back to some of the best moments.

I... more>> guess my only caveat would be that the book gets better and better as it goes on, which means that the first two arcs in particular are good, solid arcs but don't really shine, and hence don't adequately represent how excellent this story becomes. <<less

I wish the translators would give up in their translation of this novel. Seeing about 15 updates a year means I'll be waiting another 10 years before this is done. Giving it up means atleast maybe someone else can pick it up. Cyan Wings is probably my favourite author of all time, and I really want to read readable versions of their novels.

I can't begin to understand all the effort and trouble that goes into translating a novel, but it seems like to the translation group this book is an... more>> after thought. They have a book with tens of thousands of chapters they're translating, but for this book a chapter a month seems to be perfectly fine.

Sorry for the rant. <<less

I'm so lucky for coming across this read. What can I say..... this story is a hidden gem among the numerous books in this website. From start to finish it was engaging and has my undivided attention. There is so many notable aspects to this novel.

MC is extremely intelligent. He is also my first BL MC who is a gong and not a shou. Everything he achieves in the game, it's because of his own hard work. I really respect and adore him.

ML is such a cutie. It's understandable why... more>> our MC fell hard for him. In many ways he's more OP than the MC. Having infinite luck, perfect instincts, eyes that can see the truth etc. Honestly, I've read many novels where the MC has his attributes instead. That is why it was so refreshing to read this novel. The underdog in other similar novels became the MC in this novel if you get what I mean. While other novels' main character is treated like God's favourite with everything he will ever need falling into his lap, this novel's author made the God's favourite character the love interest while the main character in this novel persevered through each world. That being said, the ML matured through the novel and started using his brain so good for him.

I've noticed that many BL novels tend to treat female characters as extras and have underlying misogyny in them. This novel makes MC's closest teammate a woman. She's hella cool and strong. We can see her mental growth throughout the novel as well. I have to admit she's my favourite character in the entirety of the novel. Other than her we also get some solid, multifaceted side characters and villains.

I like that the author didn't make this novel into every other revenge novel and let

I shall not be snobbish and admit the genuine marvel of this novel.

I got introduced to this author's works from Devil Venerable, this author's other work, which was also a good read.

Honestly, the world building is superb. The characters grow well. I actually prefer this to other such novel like Card Room or tr*sh Boyfriend. While those 2 do better in mystery and the whole system mumbo jumbo, the romance either sucks or too heart breaking (yeah, tr*sh boyfriend your system is too mean). This novel has sweeter romance. Romance... more>> is justice. <<less

I actually wanted to know more about Xing Shuo

「 Xing Shuo's bahavior 」 ↓

Spoiler

Although we got his POV at the last chapter and he had always been mentioned more than a few times throughout the story→ and even got to appear in a number of chapters, the thoughts of him were always changing.

Our views of Xiao Shuo weren't as solid since we don't get to see him much. And in the times where he does get to appear, one way or another, there would be plot twists and our opinion of him changes again.

I wanted to see how he and his prop interacts. This interest was enough for me to say I want to read a book that's about Xing Shuo's life with his wind chime LOL.

Since it turned out Xing Shuo isn't as obedient as he appeared in front of his brother, I could say he should probably have a similar personality as Xing Ye→but less cold, more reckless, and (as implied) he could probably leave his teammates too.

↑ But as a veteran, his thoughts has most definitely changed and he could treasure his prop throughout his life in the extended game unto the parallel world, since he knows he won't get to return to the real world and the prop was all he could have.

[collapse]

I've really thought deep whenever Xing Shuo's been mentioned and was excited to read his ending ↑ you could even see that I've planned out his whole future unto that spoiler box.

Nevertheless, the story's already completed, and I am satisfied with the ending. We didn't get to see the dinner they had or what they've done after, but it's been implied that they now lived stable lives with great friendship and I'm pleased enough.

「 Additional Quest after End Game 」 ↓

Spoiler

To be honest, I liked reading about how their lives turned for the better even when their game memories have been wiped.

Even if Guan Ling still can't understand Xing Ye's analyses, his character had developed enough even before the end.

LOL, I'm very sorry for Yan Hebi, that one world with the crossdressing Xing Ye might have affected him more than we thought.

The dinner and the life-after that we didn't get to read didn't bother me as much. Since their lives had already been showcased before and during their discussion in the Additional Quest World, I was content with the ending the group received.

[collapse]

「 Side Characters 」 ↓

Spoiler

Aside from from Xing Shuo, there were plenty side characters that clung to me even if I've forgotten most of their names.

Lin Jingxue and Liu Muqing - it's unknown whether they disappeared as Xing Ye's world system disbanded or was in the same game as Xing Shuo, which it said to be the system of all parallel worlds.

I thought the school setting was their end but I'm so damn happy to see them again. Unfortunately, they had no memories, but their appearance in the casino world really lifted my heart.

Tan Feng - this guy is at least half-human. Its the one person I'm partly glad about when I read that the players forget their memories. This dude spent years in this game and resolved to never receive the Final invitation. He knew he can't return and had no opinions on betrayal as long as he isn't permanently stuck on the system worlds.

- Losing memories is probably better. But there would definitely be a guilty conscience for those he killed in the game and not know why. He deserves it. I just wonder if he still killed players with his prop after knowing it kills them in the real world before accepting his fate of never getting to leave the game and finally killing relentlessly?

[collapse]

To enjoy a story is to not only focus on the protagonists even if the story revolved around them. Debunking the side characters were fun just as I enjoyed Xing Ye's journey to disbanding their world's system.

I also think its justifiable that there are other systems. With how Xing Ye had known almost everything, I'll say he probably knew of other systems.

If you were put under a system, you wouldn't think that was the only system in the whole universe, is it?

As for why he didn't destroy them - why would he?

Spoiler

From the beginning, he joined his world's game to find the truth behind his brother's death and to defy fate, the system.

The task of destroying the systems of other parallel worlds doesn't fall on his hands. And since I put so much trust in Xing Ye, I predict that he considered the consciousnesses that resided in the destroyed game systems.

If all systems were destroyed, that equates to destroying the 'NPC's, the failed players, props, and such. Otherwise, where would they reside when their death is permanent— other than to transfer to other systems and win the freedom to live in a parallel world?

[collapse]

I considered many aspects in the game and side characters, it was a really enjoyable read.

I hope my enthusiasm in theories encourages you to continue reading and appreciate characters no matter the evil, recklessness, or something that cannot make sense but can only be answered with luck LOL. <<less

Turns out this we have an MC gong here (found on reviews lol) which I usually skip since I'm more comfortable reading MC shou's. But, damn MC had to be very very manly, and handsome, and have I mentioned manly? He stepped on all the gongs on my list claiming number 1 spot (that is while San Lang is on seclusion of course). It is still early to say but I'm living my 5stars here so I won't forget later, reason is bec MC is awesome and I like how... more>> the game makes me dumb s*upid, and also, bec MC is awesome. <<less

One of my favorite novels.

Cough, excuse me for my bad english.

Both the MC and the ML really compliment each other. I love how logical and doting the MC's, I can see he's a responsible mature man. Meanwhile, the ML is really kind and has positive outlook towards life, you can tell he has a good upbringing even though he's kind of narcisstic, LOL.

The side characters fleshed out well. They have their own personalities and capabilities. Even MC feel like he can't get to where he is without their help. It's... more>> so satisfying to see their interactions throughout the series.

The plot is well done and engaging, you can't help but want to root for MC and the gang. By far this is the most logical surival games novel I've read. <<less

I love this Novel (what I read so far) so much, the MC is likeable and the plot hooks you immediately at the very start. As the chapters progress you learn the clues along side the of MC. Also it's survival game is my favorite thing.

The Translation of the new translator is very good and well done.

This was a great read, the world settings and the system is really well made.

This was easy to understand, everything actually made sense. Nothing is like pulling a rabbit out of his ass tricks, MC generally use his brain and the tools in his disposable to get to goal of each world.

The fights are out of this world, it's easy to understand but also complicated at the same time. MC activating his trap cards left and right, thinking 10 steps ahead. Always make sure to cover every point, it's not... more>> just out of no where, every part was calculated well. He doesn't charge out like some moron MCs in the other novels. Even in the first world he was outnumber he could up with unconventional way to win which is fun to read

The things thought the Villains in the novel lack IQ, none of them come even close to MC, therefore I found them to be dumb and unchallenging. The only bad quality about the novel, MC destroying everyone like has no rival at all.

Spoiler

In the middle Author gave up the revenge plot but he made the little brother a much complex character I really like that

[collapse]

I love the little brother abit too much, so I was sad how he died and their brotherly relationship and MC's past reading earlier on already make you cry.

ML is refreshing for a change, he's the happy go lucky type with a pretty face. He has ego but he actually has brains and is kind, the doesn't look down on people type.

I love all the characters, because of the character developments the MC brings them, it's not just him, it's all his team mates he met. He change their lifes and accept them, but not s*upid generous type but well though out and kindness that make them motivated to change themselves. It's really emotional driven and I like these stories. Though I feel bad about that guy who call himself ladies man. Help the poor man find his love!

The extras are so badly done, I do not want 18 chapters of a s*upid arc about nothing. I want post game character interactions or more on little brother and his.... So annoying.

Anyway read this guys it's recommended, it's short but really good. <<less

Really enjoyed it so far, but don't want to MTL this one as I think I would lose a lot of the story. Will absolutely read when/if it's ever completely translated.

So far I like all the characters and most of the arcs. The hospital arc being my least favorite ... more>>
Spoiler

because I hate the amnesia troupe

[collapse]

The romance is slow, but progresses nicely. The MC is OP but relies on teammates too. He is set up as a cold CEO type, but really isn't.

The ML is okay, I like him, but he hasn't been able to show his growth much.

The teammates are fun and I love that there is a girl that isn't vilified. She is strong and love her representation.

Translation is good, beggingg for more to be translated.... please? <<less

This is indeed a great read, and it has a relatively low threshold of acceptance too! I mean, a lot of unlimited flow novels have horror or suspense themes. And it might be a bit too hair-raising for the less brave (LIKE ME xD). With his novel, the horror themes are kept at a minimum (only the first arc truly had ghosts and the like, though there were also some instances that were a little creepy later.)

Summary: The MC (Xing Ye) discovered that his brother had died unnaturally. And,... more>> while he was investigating the cause of his death, he ended up being dragged into a separate space through a QR code. This separate space is a virtual game world (the person's consciousness is dragged in but their body stays outside and no time passes in between), and the task of all players is to find the true endings of all the different instances and make it to the Final Level. During the MC's very first instance, he meets a cute and mysterious Mirror (the ML) that he takes with him along the way.

When it comes to the characters, I think the author did the best! Not only is the cast varied, but they also all have their complexities without dragging down the plot. The romance is a little strange because one is considered a prop while the other is a player, but the author does it pretty well and builds the relationship slowly. As for the setting, I thought it was quite unique! Of course, there are a lot of similar unlimited flow novels out there, but there are several key elements in this one that I don't see often in other novels.

As always, because I read most of this novel through MTL (which is abut 70% readable -- it gets a bit miserable because the MC's strategic analysis doesn't translate all that well, but I bore through it T.T) I won't be giving this a full review despite having finished it. I will give it a star rating though! In my eyes, this novel will undoubtedly be worth 4.50-5 stars. After all, I read it all the way through despite the messy MTL. If you're interested, I suggest trying it out now! It's really only certain parts of the MTL that are not comprehensible. And, if you have a good enough understanding of the plot and instances, it's not too difficult to make sense of those parts. OH, btw. The first two or three chapters of this novel are really awkward. LMFAO I almost quit because of that, but luckily I persisted! <<less

This novel is really good. I love how MC solves each and every tasks. The first arc was really interesting. I was waiting for the ML to appear-oh dang. I came to the wrong place[facepalm]. I usually prefer stories like, supernatural movie actor app, thriller trainee, the earth is online where ML is strong but can't outshine MC. Sigh* again, if you prefer slow flow, this one is perfect for you.~
