After Jiang Liu Cheng’s parents divorced, both of them quickly formed a new family. Both his parents are married to wealthy families, but even so, no one wanted nor supported him. He was simply kicked around between them as neither family wanted him. Thus, Jiang Liu Cheng, who longed for a home his whole life had decided to find a partner of his own.

He happened to gather up to three blind dates:

A famous director in the entertainment industry
A rich second generation from a certain family
A well-known scriptwriter

……….

Later, he took his new fiance to the banquet and introduce him to others: “My date.”

His remarried parents looking at the face in front of them, which will inherit billions of dollars at any time:? ? ?

Qin Lu is an actor in the entertainment industry and the heir to a wealthy family. He had gotten into a car accident and was later saved by Jiang Lu. In order to repay the favor, he decided to fulfill his wish and introduce him to high-quality blind dates.

Qin Lu: He is a great director, upstarting in the entertainment industry.

Later: He is a male chauvinist, so I don’t know.

Qin Lu: Ah! This one is my good friend. He is a rich second generation. I know him quite well. It’s all good.

Later: He is a great guy and all, but he has this first love that he can’t seem to forget.

Qin Lu: What about a well-known scriptwriter? He has written several explosive scripts.

Later: Although, rumors had been going around, and it was said that he is not that very good in that aspect in real life… If you know what I mean.

Qin Lu then smiles at Jiang Liu as he was trying to hint at something while wriggling his brows: You know, I am not that of a macho man. I don’t belittle women. I also don’t have an unforgettable first love. And while we are on the topic, I always work out. I have six-pack abs.

The director, the rich second-generation man, and the screenwriter who was victimized by the wind commentary: “f*ck that man.”

I think what I really, really like about this MC is that he is actually smart. Yes, he's the typical famous uni scholarship graduate number one book tyrant blah blah but he has also studied psychology and is very aware of social cues. There's a scene in the recent chapters where a 'former first love' character tries to 'subtly' side line him in front of his date (the one who 'can't forget his first love') and although he doesn't react to it at all, he later reveals that is completely... more>> aware of what's going on.

And that's amazing because in most plots, either the MC is just unaware or he/she blows up on the spot. That's not really clever behaviour.

It's also super refreshing because he is the epitome of unmoved by outside opinion. He is really strong in character and mind. I say this because he remains unmoved even whilst being utterly committed and sincere to dating his partners. That's unusual because you typically become sensitive when it's the opinion of a romantic partner, but the author manages to toe the line between blossoming love and break-up. Each of his partners get immersed into his sincerity and open up, but he is still rationally testing the waters and determining their suitability.

You would think that makes him less invested, but actually he is doing it in the most sincere way he knows how. Every single action is meant to bring him and his partner closer to marriage or break-up (depending on suitability). <<less

Ok maybe it’s just me missing something while mtl-ing this novel but I was kinda dissatisfied with how the story ended: MC‘s parents divorced and left him behind when he was young. Therefore I was really hoping for some kind of face slapping but I don’t remember any scene where we ever see them again which really sucks. The only villain I can remember was MC‘s new „stepbrother and stepmother“. I was hoping for his father to step in and stop their ruckus but nope he completely forgot about MC‘s... more>> existence. I don’t even remember them ever meeting each other? It’s a bit of a let down tbh. I can understand that MC grew up and whatever but still... very unsatisfying. Like honestly what was the use of even adding step mom and step bro to the story if not for the dad to step in and have some kind of repercussion. <<less

Muah!!! Loved it! The plot setting was a bit different and refreshing from usual modern entertainment business bls. And the plot setting was properly used in the novel, i.e. Life saving grace.

Spoiler

The personality of ML and MC were nice, adorable, and admirable. And romance was definitely slow burn. It was more slice of life as how MC got fame as he worked as an actor with ML supporting him.

Though ML was the typical op type, he was both film emperor and heir to powerful family, MC nonetheless could easily make his career without his help as he himself had an alternative path (as he had awesome academic qualifications) if he was unable to make progress in entertainment industry due to suppression by his mother.

The chemistry between them was easy going and relaxed, though it would have been nice if there were more cuddly or intimate or tender moments.

The side Characters were reasonable, realistic, not vengeful or clinging, especially the blind date candidates, each one of them had their own persona, story, and aspirations.

This novel had a lot of potential but fell a bit flat. Not to say that it was bad, it's okay to pass the time with. It had a strong start and I did find MC and ML's interactions cute and there were times I definitely laughed out loud, but with its interesting premise and potential, it was a bit disappointing that it wasn't as elaborate as it could have been.

Regardless, it was heart-warming to finally see Jiang LiuCheng (MC) find someone he loves and who loves him back just... more>> as much. The story's goal: that was, Jiang LiuCheng succeeding in a blind date and having a family, was also met. Is there Drama?

Spoiler

There were numerous instances that could have developed into drama but didn't due to numerous reasons, but one of the contributing factor is MC's serious and straightforward personality and he resolves his problems quickly, and another factor is MC and ML not really making things too big of a deal

[collapse]

MC's Biological Parents

Spoiler

Jiang LiuCheng's biological mother left him in his paternal grandfather's home after giving birth and divorcing his biological father. She remarried into the Mo Family as a second wife and was the one who suppressed Jiang LiuCheng in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Jiang LiuCheng's biological father didn't appear in the novel and was only mentioned a few times. At the end, Win Lu (ML) asked if he wanted to find out where biological father is and he said that no, but guesses that he would be some rich woman's kept man based on his grandfather's evaluation of his father's character.

Antagonists

Spoiler

The antagonists had few roles and were resolved quickly. There was Cai Ze, a jealous actor who tried to ruin MC's reputation,

Mrs. Mo and Mo Yi, MC's biological mother and half-brother who wanted to suppress MC in the entertainment industry, but we're honestly just like mosquitoes buzzing in the background.

Jian Qiao a screenwriter and fan of ML who probably wanted something more and tried to befriend MC as a way to get to ML

Qin Dong (ML's father) and his illegitimate son who tried to get the power in the Qin Family (but with no way at all since the old Grandfather Qin left everything to his grandson Qin Lu (ML) in his will so they're fighting a lost battle and are just another set of mosquitoes in the background)

The Blind Dates and Not-Blind Dates (aka Love Rivals)

Spoiler

Director Cheng, a career-oriented person and ultimately fell in like with Jiang LiuCheng but was rejected to different ideals. Remained MC and ML's friend-acquaintance. Very professional.

Zhou Beiwang, a rich second generation and ML's best friend. Kind of a playboy and his first love recently returned to the country. Likes MC, but was rejected by MC because even though Zhou Beiwang didn't have anything to do with the first love, MC determined that there were personality conflicts. Remained ML and MC's friend.

Jian Qiao, the screenwriter, was thought by MC to be suitable candidate but ultimately ended up to be unsuitable. Broke ties.

Zheng Kailin, MC's friend and one of previous roommates. Is in love with MC but never confessed. In the end, he didn't confess and remained MC's friend.

Ok read.

MC just wants to find a reliable and compatible partner without taking feelings into account. ML wants to pay back a life debt and introduces 2 of his friends but while spending time with MC they become friends and later fall in love.

What I like, is the truthful communication between MC and ML. There are no dogblood misunderstandings. Whenever a red flag rises, they will ask or tell the other about it.

Unfortunately the ending is a bit short and left a lot of strings dangling.

The plot was interesting, well could've been interesting. I'm really pushing myself to finish it, I'm not even curious about the end.

What I absolutly despise are novels whose character's personalities change depending the situation. The author wants a scene to happen, wants a particular ending to it and totally change their character to make it happen. So MC is incredibly intelligent, good student, knows psychology, read situations well and has high EQ. Unfortunately, to push the story where the author wants it, the MC lose his high EQ quite often.... more>> Finally, he was robotic, flat when he could have been the highlight of this novel.

I was bored by the villains, MC knows who they are but doesn't tell anybody, because...? When the villains were informed the MC knew their identities, they should've stopped because they're afraid he'll mention them. But no, the author had no other villains, so they intensified their bullying which went against their interests...

The ML is so flat, I hesitated to mention him. The author tells us he is the best actor, loved by all, but not why (there're other good actors, with more experience, so why is he the most respected?). He'll, of course, use his influence to help the MC, that's the only goal to create that kind of ML.

It could've been a really great story, funny with interesting characters. Unfortunately a good idea isn't enough to write a good story. <<less

There are so many thoughts regarding this story that makes me conflicted.

Spoiler
  1. The translation is bit too hard to understand. Sometimes I wonder if I’m mtling the novel myself or not. Either way, I’m still glad it’s bit better than normal MTL
  2. The reason why JLC wants to go on blind-date spree. I feel like there was no explanation enough for this matter. Okay you want to have family? But why? What for? It’s like he’s in such urgency to have a family when before he just wants to study?
  3. Now why did he want to go to the showbiz? He clearly mentioned many times he could just quit. Why wouldn’t he? He even mentioned how much salary he could gain from tutoring and he can even get a lawyer’s pass. It’s not like he enjoys showbiz itself? It seems bit conflicting here
  4. The ML and MC interactions are sweet and slow burning in a way. Their relationship is also one of the healthiest ever. I love how they just quickly communicate the problem rather than dragging it
I also love how MC might be “innocent” in romance stuff but truly smart in regarding other. Like those things with contracts, his mother, etc.
  5. There’s another thing I need to highlight. For me, the story can be so boring sometimes. I have bit of expectations for the 2nd blind date with the first love but it ended up like that. There was no mention what happened to the first love. Like I don’t want whole chapter of them but like one or two paragraphs of what happened afterwards. It seemed that First Love came back just so he could get 2nd blind date’s help
  6. Ending is a bit rushed after all that. They just date for a while then suddenly marriage? What happened to all the flirting part?
  7. The ending also a bit anticlimatic for me. It’s basically the summary but actually told in different point of view. It’s quite disappointing ngl.
[collapse]

I don’t know what I feel for this. It has so many potentials but I can only give it 2-stars because despite the entertaining part, there are so many unanswered things.

I liked the characters and the premise of the story. The beginning was quite fun actually, watching all the relationships develop.

However, I felt like the translation got a bit confusing towards the end, which might have spurred me losing interest. I think the pampering and overloaded dealing with random enemies was unsuspense-ful.

I think he ending was a bit rushed, but I honestly wasn't interested in reading any more of the story. The author sure knew when to quit!

The overall message of the story I thought was also nice. That you... more>> can't predict where love will come from, and that finding love from someone you know and like is probably going to be more successful than trying to click with people predisposed to making a bunch of snap judgements. <<less

3.75/5.0*

The premise was interesting, but the execution was a bit dull.

The writing style and plot was simple and usually these type of stories need to rely on face slapping and some dog blood to spice things up and create sensation.

Author didn't pick this route, which I admire, but her story telling was lacking and the characters not distinctive enough to pull it off. On top, the romance and pacing is pretty slow.

Story is pretty cute. I like this kind of slow-stream, slow-burn story overall.

There's surprisingly nothing much wrong with the author's worldview (thankfully), and the cannon-fodder/villains are a bit brainless but they thankfully don't get a lot of screen time.

I'm actually grateful that the story is focused less on face-slapping and more on the MC's daily life / getting better as an actor / hilarious dating philosophies etc. Because if this was any more dramatic, I'd have taken a ton of stars off for having such annoying villains. They're complete idiots,... more>> yes, and already get too much screen time as is.

Very OP intellectual MC, but very direct as well, his character is pretty refreshing and very straightforward, a bit naive but not like other typical "dumb-but-sweet" protags. I really enjoyed the slice-of-life feeling.

The translation unfortunately seems to be nearly pure MTL or barely edited, there are a ton of mistaken pronouns throughout and a lot of pinyin or mistranslated parts (double negatives are basically all translated incorrectly because MTL doesn't catch that very well)

Spoiler

Note:

-Dao (eg. Cheng Dao, etc.) is the short form of "director" which means, "Director Cheng"

-Da (eg. Q Da) is the short form of "Q University", like how we would say "uni" ("da" can change depending on context, this is just one example)

-fen (powder) is the short form of fensi (fan) - it should never be translated as "powder" because it means "fan" and has nothing to do with particles or particulates, aka "powder." It would be as if an English translator wrote "sea urchin gonads" for "uni" instead of "university" when the context is literally "I went to uni."

Many of those pinyin are skipped or treated like "new places/things" when they are referring to the same people/thing. In Chinese (and other languages) it's common to shorten many frequently used nouns to a single world.

I'm having 2nd thoughts reading this at first due to rating, but I'm glad I did!! 💕

The story is literally as the title described. It focuses more on MC and ML (as a match maker and eating vinegar), NOT the film NOR revenge. Hence, the plot is not heavy but the MC's personality has depth. Since it's short, I feel a little lacking in some aspect. I want extra chapters

This novel was ok, I might pick it up again since theres only 33 chapters left for me but I didn't see what the point of the mother and stepbrothers presence was if MC was going to solve everything without a problem. Maybe for plot and climax, but I wasn't satisfied with the results after every problem being solved and forgotten like it wasn't there to begin with.

I'd say that this is a simple novel with not much action in it.

MTL'd and it was doable.

If you saw my heart monitor you would have thought I died. It's stale. The premise was interesting, and I did get hooked with how the story opened up, but it is awfully cliche and I can't click with the MC. Why do I always find MC's that exist just to be pampered and spoiled by the ML? I'm sick of this flavour.

First off, it's very very fluffy. There are no major setbacks for the couple and there was no major villain if you don't consider the MC's mother. MC is not your typical MC who is loved by many just coz he is the MC. He has substance and most often than not, his logic borderlines to meng.

The way ML is presented is good as well. Not your typical possessive, high-achieving, vinegar-eating ML (although I also like MLs like these). He knows when to step back and when to move forward.... more>> It was nice to see that their love story was not as sudden as some novels have, it's a slow-burn love but not slow enough to get bored.

Honestly speaking, I read this in one go, even forgoing sleep (yup, panda eyes after and I still needed to go to work). All in all, it was satisfying. <<less

It was a cute read. I liked the blind date plot, it’s a bit new for me. I like the characters.

One thing that made me want to put this down was the translation. While I am very grateful for the efforts of the translator, it was a bit hard to understand most of the time. I tried to MTL it but it was worse, so I had to push on. Still, thank you to the translator for completing the translation for this novel.

Another thing is when it comes to the... more>> drama, there’s not much of it. Everything gets solved easily really, even with minimal to almost no effort from the part of the MC. ML is still the classic all powerful boss, but at least he is a nice person. He’s not one of those ice cool stoic types that somehow changes because they fell for the MC. ML and MC has always have clear communication, which is really refreshing. They always ask when there’s something they don’t understand.

There isn’t much of the acting in this novel. Well there is in the beginning part, but later on it’s just not there anymore. In the latter part you won’t even think the MC is an actor anymore because he hardly do anything even though it was emphasized multiple times that he was really popular. Then again, career isn’t his main priority so maybe that’s why.

Overall it did entertain me and made me chuckle. It’s not something deep so if you are looking for some easygoing read, this is for you. <<less

MC and ML are both cool and decisive, making this a refreshing and drama-free read. However, it may not be for everyone, precisely because it is free of drama. Even so, it's solid and sensible work, easy on the brain and worth reading once.

I wanted to finish this because I liked the MC's personality but I got bored. There was just something lacking with the plot and the storytelling... it lacked substance? At least the peanut gallery isn't too long or overdone which I hate when reading showbiz novels.

I wanted to drop this but I really wanted to see if it would improve with the last blind date but after all that and even though it's only a few chapters until the end there was nothing else that made me hold on. There's... more>> just something I noticed that when the two leads finally get together, it's either a sink or swim. Will the author still make me continue to be interested when they're finally together? In this case, it was a bit bland and it failed to keep my attention.

In the end, it was the premise that made me reach until chapter 73 but it just didn't deliver. <<less

Love the character design of MC he is goal oriented person, straight shooter and simple down to earth personality.

This novel is more leaning towards slice of life but with more romance. The development of the relationship is what kept me going. It's refreshing and calming, no typical dramas or misunderstanding and there's a lot of respect given between MC and ML and sometimes it's rare to read about respect in romance novels.

The disappointing part is the translation I feel the multiple small mistakes are not a big problem for me... more>> to understand the plot but it is definitely noticeable.

You know it's really sweet when partner's just find there other, without the drama or trials you usually read and it's so normal that it's cleansing to the soul. I really like this short novel. <<less

Despite the suspicious cover of the novel, the plot and characters are all good! It was an interesting take on blind dates to be honest. Although I expected blind dates in the novel, I did not expect them being written this way haha.

Overall the plot is super cute and loving. I think for the MC and ML, only when they meet the right person will they understand what they want and what love actually is, which is quite obvious from the MC's character development.

A little sad because there wasn't more... more>> chapters about the MC and ML's relationship. I would love to read more about them :") <<less
