Ning Qingqing and Shen Zhiqian have dated for 9 years from high school to university, including 2 years after joining the workforce.

Their relationship was stable and they were financially stable. Everything seemed to be a matter of course; however, even after hinting at marriage multiple times, Shen Zhiqian never gave any response.

Finally, on Ning Qingqing’s 25th birthday, after giving her last hint to no avail, she resolutely turned around and flash married Shen Zhiqian’s nemesis.

On the day of the wedding, Shen Zhiqian attended the ceremony, eyes red.

It was also at this moment that he finally realized what he had lost.

This is my wedding invitation, it’s the day after tomorrow
I arrived in style, just to miss you
I chased my wife all the way, yet I’ll never catch her again

More often than not, there are only two outcomes during a slow marathon of love – either to get married or to break up.

Unfortunately, her’s was the latter, yet she was also very fortunate to have met someone even better ~

This feels ick. He genuinely loves her but she's "dropping hints" and using that as an excuse to end a literal nine year relationship. She didn't sit him down and say hey I don't need it now but I want a plan at least marriage is very important to me. I feel like he wasn't prejudiced or embarrassed by her, he just knows who his family is and how they are. They are also part of his business so he can't just disown them. I say this because he never... more>> his that he was dating her, he never cheated, he never even looked at another woman or agreed to date her! Like this seems like a good guy genuinely trying and messing up! And as cute as it is to think that money doesn't matter love does! Both matter that's why you'll rarely read of a protagonist who stays poor or has no skills that pay the bills. Honestly, this all could have been solved with her quitting and going home for awhile instead of breaking up with him while he's out of state and unable to do anything about it. Also have we considered all of his family troubles would be solved if she was more honest with him? Hey, your ex? She'll company hungry for your money? Hey, I'm turning 25 and I need some assurance in this relationship, family is very important to me and I know you are hiding me from yours so if this is going nowhere I need to know and I need to know by my next birthday are we going to get married eventually or not? Also on her birthday he had no time to think about that he's literally working! Give the man some actual time to breathe and think don't just text him a break up! Also, hey I'm stifled here and not living to my full potential I'm going to go work with my other degree. Btw your family's worries? I'm rich!

Secondly, the ML isn't likeable! We literally see him make money, stalk her a bit and then take advantage of her while she's OBVIOUSLY drunk and emotionally compromised pressure her into marriage and then tell her essentially, now that you've made this impulsive decision I'm never going to let you go! It's creepy like what if you're stalker had rizz when you were drunk and held you to a drunk and literally unintentional promise. That is what predators do and in the demon contract way not the cute business CEO way. This story is beyond wrong.

ML is the awful uninteresting character who I'm sure turns out to be so "loving" and "attentive" but this is his introduction and just no. Like in any other novel he'd be the not very well written villain. He didn't "save" her she literally could have gotten all the face slaps done without his help. He's literally just like a haunted prop in the background who decided to try to be the main protagonist and got lucky. But he's still a haunted broomstick in the end with no idea how to be an actually interesting human being. <<less

Loved it so much I finished it in under 24 hrs!

Something about how deeply the ML loved the FL just tugged at my heartstrings. Ah! So tired of living vicariously through these lucky FLs 🤣🤭🙈

A great story!

I love flash marriage tropes, especially ones where the couple is willing and active in making the relationship work.

ngl the concept of the MC and her ex being in a relationship for 9 years and then being married after 9 days was a bit abrupt. Essentially the ex was a great guy but clearly past trauma has left some scars on him, same with MC. they were both people hurt by their parent's relationship leading to different views on the matter... it did feel like they were built... more>> up grievances that weren't communicated well that just built to a point where they couldn't turn back anymore, but it was sad that there was no deep communication and even their relationship of 9 years they didn't know much about each other on a deep level...I believe the MC was already tired, but his indecisiveness made her give up completely. She also probably realized that, she would never be able to mix well with ex's family.

Honesty, respect for EX. Despite his small human flaws and mistakes, he was not the only one to blame. The MC clearly did not communicate well either.

edit: reading it for prolly 3rd time- I feel like I gave ex too much credit while I still feel ex was a great man despite some flaws the biggest obstacle was his family and more so his inner fear of marriage-not just to anyone but marrying someone whos not from the wealthy circle IMO. With him she'd always receive the shorter end of the stick-messed up in-laws and vicious sister-in-law but with ML she can got all the happiness and love as well as security who ex could never provide. THE ML IS LITERALLY THE BEST!!!! I really wish there were more scenes of them getting along or falling in love even the ones filled with tension would be nice.

I mtled the whole thing it's a good read, communication is very vital to have a happy sound relationship the exbf clearly didn't communicate his issues, he mostly didn't make any effort basically took her for granted that she will be always there he is too at the end the result of an ugly childhood but that ain't an excuse for the mistakes or slightly scummy behaviour well if had known better worked out throughout the 9 years relationship with FL to progress perhap it could have been saved but... more>> it didn't.... ended up giving us a good couple who are working on themselves improving and finally on the road of happiness.

A solid 3.9 story. <<less

So far it's a solid novel. The MC's thought process/emotions are well written and really do track.

She set a deadline. The deadline was ignored/played off as a joke. She acted decisively. There were emotional ramifications but she sticks to her guns.

The issues I have with the novel is the development with the male lead seem... Lackluster?

EDIT: I understand my issue with the ML. The MC is sooooo well-written and the Ex-Boyfriend is so well-written! By comparison the ML falls.... flat. His whole presence (so far) is a flavor of the... more>> overbearing president trope. There's not much going on in his emotional world outside of the MC. His character, backstory, even his family are there to faceslap the ML.

The issue is the Ex is so well-written that the ML falls flat in comparison.

We're being told the ML is better than the EX but the ML is written with a tenth of the care of the EX. The EX isn't a better person than the ML but the EX is a better-written person. The EX is juggling a rich emotional atmosphere of friends, family, work, and the MC. But the ML only has the MC in their world. It leaves them feeling one-dimensional in comparison.

Honestly a one-dimensional ML wouldn't be so glaring if the EX wasn't so well-written.

The MC - a 10.
The EX - a 10.
The ML - a 3. <<less

I rarely leave a review but I wanted to share my opinion. The story was actually quite good, even though I gave it a 3 stars. The reason for this rating is that I don't approve of the way the FL handled things with her ex. Although, it's true the relationship wasn't going anywhere because of their different views, and the ex kept avoiding this problem and kept lying to himself. He was actually a great boyfriend to her, but their relationship had hit a wall. What I do not... more>> approve of, is that the FL did not actually do her best for him. It is her right to leave him if they didn't aim for the same things, but she should've at least told him he was getting an ultimatum instead of being vague about it. But this was okay, what I disliked the most was that she broke up with her 9 years boyfriend via text message. That was very disrespectful towards him and towards their relationship. And also, getting married straight after is also such a slap in the face that, he honestly didn't deserve. She has the right to go after her happiness, but the author rushed it. She should've made it after few months at least.

However, her husband was also a great man and he was very sweet with her, so all in all it's a good read.

This was a bittersweet read. I agree with a lot of what other reviewers said. The way the relationship of MC & ex ended was unfortunate.

-Ex refused to meet their families, consider their future, or express his concerns. Thus he failed to give her security

-Her feelings changed & she failed to properly express her expectations & ultimatums

The breakup itself was very brutal. I felt it was shitty of her to breakup over a text message. Then jump right into a marriage days after the breakup. I sincerely felt sorry for... more>> him because from his point of view, I could see how he felt blindsided. However, her decision was really not impulsive. It was an accumulation of disappointments (his family, his childhood ex, his company, disregarding her ultimatum) & having different views on marriage; these are all valid reasons to breakup. You just couldn't enjoy his grovelling because he was really not a bad guy. He was willing to compromise & rectify his mistakes. He GENUINELY apologized. My heart just broke for him but it was really too late.

Midway I started getting annoyed that the MC was still so entangled with the ex. The "main couple" finally confessed to each other & then we see the ex in the next scene?? The ex is so much more memorable to me than this ML who had an unrequited crush for 10yrs (like a dumbass. Not everyone is going to get the girl so don't learn from his nonsense).

The ML was a stalker ok 😂 I don't care if y'all want to romanticize that behavior. I was glad that he fully admitted to manipulating the MC into a marriage when she was emotionally vulnerable & drunk. At least he really loved her otherwise this would be a whole other genre. <<less

I love this story. It's true in real life. As a woman I must say, we don't like a man. With the increase of our old there was a decrease of change to find a partner in life. It's not about partner it's also about our personal health especially fertility. Even Doctor not suggest woman above 35 years. The age-related decline in egg quality is associated with a higher chance of the child developing certain health conditions. This includes autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and schizophrenia.

This was a true story,... more>> my sister 26 years old have a boyfriend. When she ask when to get married, he will said his finances a still unstable. Then come a man tries to woo her and proposed to her. She ask me for advice. I give her the same advice, about the different between man and woman. I also add when we married the person who love us he will try to make us happy, but if we married the person we love, we will try to make them happy.

Now she happy with the man and a son. Even she have a problem with her in-law, her husband was there when she sad. Maybe he did not defend her in front of his parent, but he will took her on vacation or shopping to release her anger.

As a women, when we get married we have to let go our friend, our body shape, our time and some women even let go their job. So we must choose what the best for us. Life is about love not your love to other people but love yourself first.

My last word life is so short maybe you will live until 50, 60 or more, but it's still so short. Don't waste our time with something not important like being unhappy, angry or any negative emotion. When you feel suck and want to give up, take your time think back what you did before and what you want in the future. Only you decide the direction of your life. <<less

Its sweet but a bit flat. 9 yrs of being together and she just moved on like that. No regrets, no waves of sadness (she did cry the day of the breakup but other than that nada), no conflict brought up by her residual feelings. Her marriage a day after the breakup cant even be considered a rebound. It's so clean that it's boring.

But if ur craving for some faceslapping, this might be fun for you. Or maybe not, bec the og bf is not rly scum so the faceslap... more>> is not that satisfying, a bit cruel even. <<less

It's a 3.5 It's a cute story. Really easy to read.

The og bf is not scummy, no cheating, no real third-party or misunderstand from FL, no push and pull scenario with him neither. His biggest flaw was his definition of committed relationship was different than FL's one. He realized too late how important marriage was for FL. The moment he did, she had already checked out of the relationship. Else he was a decent boyfriend. I love how the FL is determined and level headed. She had taken a decision... more>> and had stuck to it. And the ML is a bliss, ideal for FL. <<less

I enjoyed it, it’s a no-brainer read.

But I really feel sorry for SZQ, feels like he doesn't really deserve what happened. Guy got undisclosed trauma, sure, but communication is a two-way street. MC and him both had their fair share of fault in this.

He was sincerely sorry, and he also admitted that he was wrong. But he didn't treat MC badly during that 9 years, he just wasn't keen on the idea of marriage. If they're the end-game, this wouldn't end like this lol.

NQQ married someone not even a week... more>> of breaking up, SZQ doesn't really have any room for manoeuvre. He’s way too late no matter what.

GYC feels like a character I could forget after just a few moments lol Also true, he’s sweet, but also kinda creepy in some way. Man’s a stalker and gaslighted coaxed someone drunk to get married to him lol.

ALSO THE ANTAGONISTS ARE ALL 1-D, NO DEPTH, NO NOTHING. Just there to be bad and so on.

But all in all, I'll give 4 stars coz I enjoyed the ride. Translation isn't done yet so I MTL'd it lolol <<less

Where should I start? I gave it a 5 star for how realistic it is (ignore the parallel world dream). The lack of communication (?) between Shen Ziqian and Ning Qingqing is something that happens in real life, when two people seem picture perfect from outside, but have different goals in life. For girls, the moment they cross the age of twenty, a wedding bell starts ringing around them, society, relatives, known-unknown people keep questioning their future plans about marriage. For boys, this issue is present, but as severe as... more>> it is for girls. Ningning and Ziqian are same age couple, which is a catalyst for their falling apart. Ziqian thinks they have ample amount of time before he has to make the life decision of getting married, but for Ningning, being 25 is like crossing a bridge of fire. TBH, Ziqian being ignorant to what others are saying about his girl, not knowing his mom and sister well etc are obviously his fault. On the other hand, Ningning not speaking outright to Ziqian about her complications leaves the breakup incomplete.

Now coming to the main couple, I must say, it is something that rarely happens, so it's a fantasy in the long run. A guy waiting for a girl for 9 years despite knowing that she's somebody else's girlfriend is sweet and creepy at the same time. The ending of Ningning and Youchen is like a sweet balm to soul. Overall it's a fluff story. We can ignore the antagonists, they are like brainless group of people making joke out of themselves.

All in all, it's a good read. <<less
