A good way to kill time but just don't get your hopes up. I think people are rating it too highly! MC is always hated or seen as 2nd place. So many characters are arrogant to the point of s*upidity. Almost everyone looks down on him and treated him unfairly. However the MC just lets it slide. He should just kill everyone or make them submit.. take over... or something! But he lets its all slide. I love the ideas the Author comes up with but this is to dam... more>> repetitive and predictable! I just don't like MC way of doing things.. The romance is just bad. The script obviously changes too much and you'll noticed these forced changes. So many Characters get discarded left to right... So why give it 5 with so many loopholes?!
Spoiler

I found it very charming how the Author made MC seem like the dense slow but OP type. But even the Author didn't make good use of this and just another standard Wuxia type. I had high expectations because of the Translator regarding this highly. Yes, it has crazy good twists and turns but you can see times were the Author is negligent with his writing. The Eye seems OP at first then at other times is not considered OP then suddenly there are others like him? Like wtf? You could make better use of it... The character I read this for is Zhao Yufei. She's a good girl with a cute personality but she keeps being discarded.. Then the MC gets forcefully engage to another chick but MC does not have the guts to say it. They all fall in love instantly. Sigh... The romance is just really bad. You can see how forced it is

A lot of reviews say that this novel is generic or common bla bla bla and I agree... for the most part. What I find awesome in this novel is the "eye" which is kind of different, some say it has the same uses as other cheat items from other novels but that's just some of the various abilities it has. Whats really cool is how it changes the MC's bloodline and talent which is quite different, another thing is the bow and arrow as the MC's main weapon ... more>> (unlike Ji Ning or Yi Yun etc. which is just their secondary weapon) as it is very compatible with his eye which is quite unique. He can also copy other people's moves or skills, albeit he needs to study it a lot of times.

Although the first few chapters are like every other xianxia it gets better as the story goes. Story is neither fast nor slow and storytelling is pretty easy to understand. <<less

Easily one of my favorite novels so far. It starts off slow with the usual weak MC who's bullied and whatnot, coming across a treasure, in this case the eye. For me, at that point the novel was fairly good, but as it progressed, it became amazing! The later arcs really make you appreciate how cunning the MC is, and a lot of the things he does can't help but make you laugh. Loving his newly introduced pet companion as well.

Would recommend to anyone who's looking for a new/good novel... more>> to read. <<less

It's a solid novel, but I felt like I was watching a speedrun of a xianxia. That's not a bad thing, and it didn't really feel rushed (to be fair most xianxias are slow as heck). But still.

Mostly generic xianxia spoiler:
Spoiler

It took barely more than 100 chapters for him to beat the top person of his sect's outer disciples, join the inner disciples, beat the best inner disciple, get adopted by another great teacher, beat the top person of that, join a sect in a new realm, and beat the top person of the outer disciples there, and become an inner disciple.

It's nothing special. It's good, but not special.

Distaste or I guess dislike for the romance. While I'm a sucker for garbage romance, I can't tolerate it written in the worse way possible. It's like a side gig that if it wasn't there, it would get more positive feedback/wouldn't even notice it was gone. It would've been 2x better without romance and while the story is mediocre it should be what you expect out of a stereotypical kind of novel. The story and world building and system of cultivation/power up could've been better and further explained/developed but hey,... more>> I don't recommend it to pass time. This should be a final last resort. <<less

Let's do it guys. Let's vote it all the way below 3. This tr*sh doesn't deserve a rating above 4 no way in hell. Let's do novel updates ranking system justice for I have always loved and trusted the reviews given by this community. But suddenly to see this kind of tr*sh having a rating above 4 in the homeland of my soul that is Novel updates, this is extremely unbearable for me.

Another mediocre cultivation story.

The premise is very generic. We have a mediocre youngster who thought he was a genius, but he wasn't, so he's reluctant to accept this, but fear not, [insert plot device], and MC gets a cheat or power-up or special item or special ability (and so on, you know the drill).

The plot is just generic crap: graduating from branch to main family, and then some sect, and the next sect, and the next... while fighting arogant young masters, enemies from the same faction (who often collude with... more>> external enemies), and so on. Nothing new.

MC is as generic as it gets too. I won't even describe him, because 2/3 of xianxia protagonists are like that: an immature brat. The only "twist" is that he's quite smart, which has stopped being a twist decades ago, and is another cliche now. Well, he's like 12-14 years old, so I can understand him being immature, but that doesn't mean I want to read about this sort of protagonist... especially when the plot is boring af.

The only part I enjoyed somewhat was
Spoiler

when MC was forced to betroth a girl, but didn't go along with it, and escaped from the wedding.

[collapse]
That's also not really original, but at least much less cliche than the other stuff in this novel.

Other characters, well, I already mentioned some. Antagonists are as generic as it gets: the same as in all xianxia stories. The same goes for love interests, friends, "masters, " and whatnot. It's all cliche and generic. Yawn. So boring.

Did I mention that I skimmed through most chapters later on, and even skipped some? And yet it didn't really impact my reading experience (I skipped tournaments especially). Repeatable plot everywhere.

I am not sure if there's anything to add. Nothing special comes to mind. King of Gods? More like King of Generic or King of Cliche. Yawn. Just thinking about it makes me sleepy. <<less

A good and enjoyble read overall, but there were somethings that could have been better. Some point are repeated more than needed

And I understand that world of cultivation is harsh but MC should atleast name his pets! XD

I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for some super amazing novel, but it makes for very good junk food. Compared to similar novels, I think this one is a bit higher up the list and if you just want to have a good time, it is definitely worth a read.

I rated this 5 star just because there is a lot of unnescecaarry hate targeted. Its not 5star for me. More like 3.5.

Anyway, I'd say they are mostly troll or just have tr*sh taste.

Check this guy's profile reviews for example @vikas_yadav1 (He is just a few reviews below me.)

... more>> This guy has rated PEERLESS MARTIAL GOD as a 5 star novel and bangs on and on about what an amazing piece of art it is.....

PEERLESS MARTIAL GOD is and has always been the worst novel of its kind I have ever had tried reading. Couldnt get past 150 chapters because of how the dialogues went on. It was like reading conversations between 10 y/o kids... It's literally insulting to the readers IQ.

Wont go into any detail about this novel since im pretty bored, but in sort if we have 3 brackets of novels

1) TOP novels, 2) Average novels, 3) tr*sh novels,

I would place this one in the upper rankings of the average novels.

Keep in mind though, that TOP novels in the cultivation genre, are but a handful unfortunately. So I do believe generally this is a classic for this genre. <<less

I'm rating it very low since the readers must be targeted for people under 14 or something.
The way the story is being explained is so dull and lackluster to the point I can name some mediocre plot with better story writing/dialogue/explanation than this novel. This review is based on what I read up till chapter 63 and will update further.

The story is intriguing, not gonna lie, but as I've said, the way the author describes the events happening, the internal dialogues, the crowd reactions, are truly dissapointing...

Ok ok ok, so first off, before I start this review, I'm definitely past chapter 319 but my history only shows that and I haven't touched the novel in a couple of months so I don't remember much.
So, first off, someone said that the novel was written like a diary more than anything, and to that I say... I feel it's supposed to be written as a diary, though an interesting one. Ok, now to the review.

Spoiler

*Ahem*, so, Zhao Feng. Well... the author basically tries to build him into a super edgy battle maniac tbh. Especially with that eyepatch, the wicked aura, azure hair, and blah blah whatever edgy stuff. Through this, and his eye, which basically makes him immune to any major feeling, the author has effectively HEAVILY limited Feng's character development. Up to where I actually am, and from what I remember, he just has NOT changed. If he has, it would be hard to notice. The novel loses some of the fun that could be there from that fact.

[collapse]

I'll move onto some better points of the story:
1) Author does not make Zhao Feng too OP. He can only fight people 1-2 realms above him maximum, and that's only early within the novel.
Spoiler

At one point, in the True Realm or whatever the name was, he was only capable of fighting an opponent at the peak of his stage, no higher (stopped reading the novel a bit past the point in which he hit True Human).

[collapse]
2) For the most part, the novel proceeds at a moderate pace. Didn't feel that slow in the beginning either.
3) Romance pretty much doesn't exist, but the novel doesn't need that. I began reading CN for the action, not for the romance.
4) As this is the first CN I read, I felt that the arrogant and haughty antagonists getting beat up was very satisfying, so yeah.
5) Zhao Feng sure isn't s*upid (for the most part).

Overall, it's a good read if you are interested in a series with action, good world-building, a decent cultivation foundation, and an apathetic MC (and more too but I want to make this short).

It started out somewhat okay and then got worse. I kept reading, thinking okay it might get better, but no. This novel is on the path of reaching the pinnacle of tr*sh. Power scaling is bad, MC just jumps into one inheritance after another (something like dungeons or mini realms) and gathers treasures after treasures. Most of the novel is just explaining some bullsh*t treasure and why it is great (but it is not). There is no depth, the MC is dense af. There is no planning, and there is... more>> absolutely nothing to look forward to.

Whoever is reading this, wondering when it will get better, you should stop and save yourself some time. The story is on a one-way road that is downhill and will only just keep getting worse and worse. As you go on reading, you will get a nasty feeling like you are wading through sewer water. It is filled with that much bullshit. It's like the author just keeps writing to fill up the word count. Although it says harem, there has been zero romance as of chapter 1012. I really don't understand how it has such high ratings here. The ones who've given 4-5 stars, just what is wrong with you all? <<less

Yeah, I'm sad cause I just finish this novel and I had high hopes for the new part, but yeah, everything has to end someday huh...

Great novel, loved the MC, loved all the fights and dramas, only thing I really didnt like was the use of titles, they are all spoilers!!! Never ready the chapter title!

I really recomend this novel!

This is a fairly enjoyable zero to hero story of the Xuanhuan variety (at least I think it's Xuanhuan...).

Zhao Feng has his destiny altered on one fateful day which will see him travel throughout the world and become a powerful being.

The main supporting cast have varying amounts of exposure ... more>>
Spoiler

His Pet the Thieving Cat is both hilarious and an asset to the Story. The female leads however appear bland in comparison and lack a lot of depth in later chapters.

[collapse]

Although fairly average all around, it is one of the few Novels I personally spent quite a lot of $$ to read back on Gravity Tales. This is because despite not being a masterpiece, it is overall very engaging and keeps you wanting to find out where things go from there.

The main story does have a very rapid climax with a middling final battle. But the epilogue is quite fun and reminiscent of the earlier chapters (which are arguably better). <<less

I only got to chapter 7, but that was more than enough. This story is absolute tr*sh. "And then his consciousness went into his left eye, and he became invincible overnight, and cultivated like a madman, and became perfect at everything without trying, and everybody around him were a**holes and he gave them the what-for." That's the story in a nutshell. I doubt, with this level of amateurish writing, that it's going to get any better, and I refuse to waste any more time on such trite drivel.

400 chapters in an I dont think we have gotten a satisfactory conclusion to anything, the story keeps getting interrupted to introduce a new story. You can almost guarantee that any tournament the MC is in will get interrupted near the end, or right after it ends to throw the MC into the next area so that he can level up and participate in some other kind of genius tournament without giving him time to tie up the many loose threads in the previous area. I assume at some point... more>> he will go back to to tie up loose ends, but its frustrating for things to drag on so long. Aside from dragging the novel is repetitive in both story and dialogue, I swear every time I read "no wonder he has the title of overwhelming prodigy" I wanted to punch the screen.

If you can throw logic out of the window you can enjoy some brainless action fun, but if you want substance, go look elsewhere.

P.S.
Not deducting any points for this since its a translation issue, but all the translations I found were terribly edited, bad enough that I think it is worth warning future readers. <<less

almost max votes (i wanted to give 4, 5 stars u.u), just cause it has its good moments but not always entertaining. It doesn't grab always all your attention to binge-read it. Still it's a really good novel with an interesting story and OP power (powerfull eye bloodline).

it has almost no fill chapters, and old characters reappear in the distant future giving you a really good sense of interconnections between everything that happens in the world.

Does the MC dont have a weapon ?or hes just a scardy cat who only use mental energy and a bow? Although a bow is good, it is still a long range weapon not a melee type/ close combat one.

This novel gets getting poorer I still wil try reading it tho.

The MC have a very unique bloodline but can't even defeat a f*cking normal opponent in the earlier chapters well this is interesting, is he even a legend? Don't thnk so at most he can be an average one ex.... more>> (For example, Sword Saint Ye Quxie from several hundred years ago came first by beating a True Mystic Rank late stage while only being at the early stages of the True Human Rank, reaching an era of fame.) C311. I think Ye Quxie is the MC not Zhao Feng hes to weak to become a legend, besides did'nt the earlier chapter saisa that Sword saint Ye Quxie dont have a bloodline? Well that is a Real MC Halo, making an IMPOSSIBLE soultion/fight without bloodline while defeating a True Mystic realm while bieng a True Human, POSSIBLE. Ye Quxie did'nt even have an inheritance at that time. This novel have too many flaws and cons. <<less
