Cannon Fodder Fake Master Was Stunned After Being Reborn

Description

It was only after Jian Xingsui’s death that he realized that he was the cannon fodder in a book with a dog-blooded plot. He was a dumb and s*upid fake young master in it.

In the book, he was reluctant to return to his poor ”biological” parents. He was greedy of the Jian Family’s wealth and also wanted to suppress the protagonist shou of the book, the real young master. With the tricks that he had personally thought out in his pig-headed brain, he finally succeeded in annoying the hell out of everyone in the family:

His CEO former eldest brother: “I don’t have a younger brother like you.”

His celebrity former second brother: “Never mention to anyone in the entertainment industry that I used to be your brother!!!”

His former father: “Get out, I’m so disappointed in you.”

After that, he was kicked out of the house and had a terrible ending.

After he was reborn, when it was the day when the protagonist shou came up to his door, instead of waiting for his family to talk to him, he took the initiative: “You guys won’t have to say anything, I am willing to leave the house!”

Not long after returning home, his poor “biological” parents said: We’re sorry, you don’t seem to be our own child.

Jian Xingsui: ??

Later, the top wealthy family, the Shen family, finally found their young master who had been separated from them for many years. The whole family rejoiced and could not wait to make up for everything to this child:

His CEO biological eldest brother: “Is this 50 million pocket money enough for you?”

His celebrity biological second brother: “You can casually choose any one of these scripts.”

His biological parents: “Suisui is really our pride!”

When the people of the Jian family finally remembered the poor kid who had been kicked out and wanted to give him some compensation, they found out that the new, praised by everyone, rising celebrity in the entertainment industry seemed to be their s*upid and annoying child…

Two stars coz I was enjoying it for like the first 20 chapters.

However the MC turned into the white moonlight and it just disgusted me. I'm used to that being the persona of the villain.

Anyways it got boring as well, very overpowered couple leaving you no sense of expectation or anticipation. Everything just became too easy to guess. Therefore boring. I reached a point and was skipping like 10 chapters in a go. And still I felt like I've missed nothing.

I was so annoyed by the lack of privacy in... more>> the live shows.

Everything after that just became silly and predictable and boring. <<less

4.67 stars from me!

First make sure to read the KnoxT translation as the alternative is an unedited MTL that is painful to read.

Just an incredibly sweet couple but I really enjoyed the nuances to their characters and relationship.

Some notes people may care about:

  • This takes place in a fictional/AU China where homosexuality is legal and marriage is allowed but it's not fully accepted and there is h*mophobia from some people.
  • It's a bit unclear but after reading the entire novel I will say this is actually a regression story not an isekai. Although Suisui mentions a novel a couple of times, it always in relation to being cannon fodder and he never talks about the content of the alleged novel. He talks about his past life using novel terms but never goes into details of what happens in said novel. This makes me believe that it's being used metaphorically and that he didn't literally believe his past life was a novel. Our MC is somewhat depressed at times and also very romantic. In his mind, IF life was a novel, he was cannon fodder and A Ran was the MC with Fu being his ML. That's how he perceives the world and as we can see from An Rans POV that it is not totally correct
    Spoiler

From An Ran, we learn that he also was reborn with his memories and is also trying to fix his past mistakes because he was never successful with Mr. Fu in the past and ended up married to a shady businessman.

    [collapse]
With this additional information we can see that Suisui only remembers his version of events rather than an actual novel. This is critical to the next point.
  • ML is Mr. Fu and is the ML from the original timeline however as you read further it is clarified that A Ran who Suisui portrays as the original main character and Mr. Fu never got together in either life.
Suisui is just an all around good human being that goes above and beyond even with practical strangers but he has his limits and is quick to cut off those that haven't been kind to him and his. He is not the type of character to get into dangerous situations because of trusting the wrong people or not listening to advice. For instance, he needs to go to his old house to get stuff but knows he may encounter his ex-brother. Instead of sneaking in alone, he puts on a camera and mic and has his real brother on alert outside.
Spoiler

Similarly, when he is drugged by a colleague, even after the man apologizes and shows that he didn't mean harm, Suisui is unwilling to work near him as he put him at risk. He doesn't seek revenge but he draws a clear line and refuses a contract if it means collaboration.

[collapse]

Also I love the ML. At first, he is teasing Suisui because it's interesting. After Suisui confesses he realizes his feelings and that teasing very clearly shifts to flirting. After they become a couple, ML is still the same person but he is so considerate and sincere with Suisui that is makes you kick your feet. Especially in the final filming of the show.

Spoiler

The proposal scene was probably one of my favorites to read and it just felt so right for the characters and how they met.

[collapse]

There are a few reasons this isn't a straightforward 5 star read but they are very small plot holes that didn't impact the overall joy I felt reading this:

    • Why did ML go to the rice shop in the first place?
    • We know that Shuishui gets exposed as a super fan but I would have liked ML's POV realizing that the fan he cherished was our MC.
    • There was also a lot of subtext between Shengchen and another contestant that never got clarified. Why did Shengchen not like him and why was it so one sided?
    • Finally, we saw small moments of regret from the Jian family, but I feel like they never realized how much they undervalued Sui. All their regrets were mostly for themselves but everytime they realized something he did for them that they didn't appreciate, I waited for their moment of clarity but it never came. Up until the end in their minds he was useless and mean. Maybe that's why they are the villains.
I was really hoping some of this would be addressed in the extras but all in all this was such a beautiful story. I highly recommend.

It is another typical cute BL with a lot of family fluff. I love all the characters in this book, and I don't really have any complaints because I had low expectations. I also just wanted to binge something from the showbiz tag, so here I am. Worth Reading if you want a brainless but cute story for a past time.

Criticisms: Just that they dragged out the variety show thing for so long I got really bored. It took up practically majority of the story. And I want more Shen... more>> family interactions, but I barely got any.

Now I am craving a story with a ghost with the number of times ghosts were mentioned in this story. <<less

The first half was honestly enjoyable despite me getting annoyed with the first 28 (?) chapter's translation that have a lot of translator's personal interpretation of the texts. It doesn't sound like it's a CN novel anymore.

The novel was fun while it last.

The MC has a very, um, baffling changes of personality towards the middle of the story.

This story truly made me into a sobbing mess during the competition arc's ending. Even the time when MC cared for his 'supposed' biological parents, I felt so much for him. The point... more>> is, up to this point, MC was very strong. Strong doesn't mean he didn't cry, he did, but it makes even reader feels for him. Since he kept his feeling so much it's suffocating.

But the starting of romance arc makes me suffocated for another reason. MC suddenly turns into some demure little crybaby who'd cry at every turn.

I think the story would have wrapped nicely if it ends at the point where he found his real family. Maybe it's better to not have romance if this is how it turns to. <<less

This is the Mcdonald’s meal you’re craving at 1am

The minute I saw the tags & read the synopsis, I immediately opened up the first chapter in a new tab. Bad reviews or not, I didn’t care—I was craving a showbiz novel that could literally deprive me of brain cells & I got it!

This review shouldn’t even be counted. Objectively speaking, the synopsis is bland, the writing is mid, the ending rushed. Originally, I’d give it three stars but I tend to enjoy reading plots like these. Who wouldn’t want... more>> to marry their idol? The moments I do melt for are definitely centered around MC’s real family interactions. It’s so endearing & I just die for fluffy family love. I love black bellied MLs too, so that was icing on the cake for me since ML was my type indeed. The romance is cute; I feel that there are A LOT of similar novels with better writing & execution, so you don’t need to settle for this one in particular. ML teasing MC makes me so single. There were a lot of missing details though; I can’t even shrug them off. They’re that apparent.

But if you know what you’re going into, then rest assured, it’s exactly what you think it is. <<less

A naïve cellulose chickflick about a love-hungry crybaby and an ML who comes with a room temperature control function. Beyond assembling character descriptions and dialogues from cringey stock sentences, the authorial voice also likes to gush soulfully about the MC freaking out over every trivial setback. It's fine mead for people who need such narratives to lend dignity to their own unworthy feelings, but others may find it dull after a few rounds, and those who enjoy quality will note that CAPS, exclamation marks, and fawning are not good replacements... more>> for actual depth or solid prose. 2 stars. <<less

I really enjoyed the MC in this story.

He's definitely super relateable, has low self-esteem, works really hard, but doesn't wallow in his pain. Overall great characterization and the song lyrics were very emotional.

The tension in the story was very immersive, the pacing and other elements were done really well in the first part, but the latter half started to drag a bit too much.

The ML is super stereotypical, very doting / teasing / cold / oppressive / CEO / OP ML type. Not my favorite, but whatever, in this case,... more>> there was marginal reason that he kind of had to be someone oppressive in order to break through the MC's self-doubt and sad shell.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings. I enjoyed this story so much in the early parts, but the wrap up and villains just became too brainless and I'm honestly surprised that there were so many plot holes that didn't get proper conclusion. There was no enlightenment from the villains, they just continue to be dumb to the end.

The author could have done a better job with the main conflict (which was the main reason why the story started to drag).

Anyway, overall not a bad read if you're looking for entertainment/showbiz novel. <<less

First 40-ish chapters is okay. Plotholes become more obvious after that.

The antagonist's plot armor for being the OG MC is quite thick. If you're looking for some good face-slapping, this isn't it.

What really made me drop this is the ML's attitude. Hehe. For me, all the good points of this novel become nothing in the face of his interactions with the MC. We can't expect ML to be perfect as its told he also had some past... But I'm just so disappointed.

As for the variety show part, I can't imagine... more>> how that kind of show which treats their guests like that exists. If a show like that exists in reality, god forbid.

I don't know what to feel about MC. He's too startstruck to do anything. I read a review here that MC is/implied autistic; was it mentioned in the story? <<less

This one is just perfect, fluffy and sweet. There are certain moments of anguish and sadness but I have to say that the author knew how to use this plot very well.

The couple is simply one of the best, they are bold and romantic. Shen Jinxiao is a sweet MC and Fu Jinxiao is simply a conquering ML.

It's been a while since a novel captivated me enough for me to finish. But here it is!

Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy this novel that much. I really like the character growth of the MC, although it was heartbreaking to see how his first family treated him. Like other reviews said, the MC is a nice, pleasant guy. The ML is a typical stoic, first-rate star who decided to protect the MC. It was overall quite sweet with an engaging plotline.

I HAD to re-read it, because you'll be surprised or not, but the setting of a boy being in audition where ML is a mentor and also antagonist is some sort of true son or something like that are not that rare. Not to mention I have a feeling I read this few years ago. So I had to remind myself what was the big deal.

In general it's passable, not as exciting. Has some sappy moments. But that's it (simply because settings are not unique to me).

Protag shou - Jian Xingsui. He is the reborn one. I have a feeling that except short passages about his last life there wasn't much information what exactly happened, but we know he is heavily disappointed with his family he lived with for 20... more>> years. No one trusted his words and everyone thought he was bullying the newly arrived true master. In this life he separates, but the biological parents he thought might have a bit of warmth disappointed him the same. And only finding his true parents he realized and felt what it meeans to be loved and cared. He has trust he longs for and people who believe him and are ready to listen to him.

Tbh what day and age is this? Are we still unable to distinguish such blatant white flowers (actual green tea b*tches) who act all wronged? Sometimes I get tired when it's so blatant in the novel, as if everyone's IQ was eaten and water was pumped into the heads of the entire family/rest of people. And don't feed me this "protag halo" and "villain halo" thing. I think only MC believes in it, others are just a**holes and hypocrites and selfish people (Jian family I mean). Everyone acts like he's a kid - you bully Anran, bad boy. Don't people have EYES? If I was present I'd be non-mainstream, since I'd feel weird when one side continues to play their own thing, while other side stays silent. It's not feeling guilty, you don't give the guy a chance to speak!

Coming back to shou, he is quite glomy and introverted at first with a very sensitive heart. This is reasonable, since years of abuse and distrust simply destroyed his heart. Don't underestimate the power of distrust. Nothing is as maddening as someone not willing to listen to you and not believing you, especially if it's a close person like a relative. It's disheartening to find out that a person who's been close and should have some sense wouldn't simply disregard everything you say.

So Xingsui comes to people who are supposed to be his biological parents, but meets the same picture as at home. Some may think that he's acting sentimental, but for a person who basically never saw these people in his previous life I understand his attitude (though in previous life they never contacted him, he should thought about it).

I asked myself, why people think that such an MC is a rare thing? Stronger reborn people are indeed a thing, but the weak bunny type that is bullied by everyone and then saved is more common to me. And I'm not a fan of weak types, but I still could understand the MC's lack of everything. After all, he was reborn, but he doesn't talk about getting revenge, we only talk about his broken heart and disappointment with those close to him. Unlike other MCs he basically just wants some peace for himself and a small corner that would belong to him. In his situation and with his character I find he acted accordinly. But sometimes MC's lack of IQ simply pissed me off (like obvious lie about the blood type, which he ignored). And also.. I was somewhat bafled by his attitude when he saw Mr. Fu. He acted like a fangirl and his inner monologue was silly and so dog licking (I don't know, I don't like it, especially if one doesn't say a name, but calls the other "idol"). I understand that Fu's music saved our MC in times of bullying, but I couldn't understand his logic of still being like that to his idol when he knew that in previous life Anran and Fu were together.. I would like to ask here, as a black-bellied person as Fu and if he bought the green tea bit*h as Anran, is he worthy of continuing to like?

Protag gong - Fu Jinxiao. Tbh with the setting of the previous life that were presented at first I thought who would like a person who was used in previous life by others as a protag gong? (and I'm talking about what was said by Xingsui himself first, not about what we find out later). Author wants it, they set it like that. Thus I felt a bit meh in my heart when I was reading the beginning. It's also in a fantasy isle when ML has "boy, you got my attention" attitude towards MC, since Xingsui obviously fans him. Other fan him too, but our boy should be special (Lol, I don't think author makes him special though, just a person who can compose and arrange music faster than others, so his talent is in this... Have you found how annoying it is how author always diminishes MC's talents like his singing is not good, but it's emotional etc.). Anyway, to me the foundation for a relationship between the two is unbalanced tbh. At least say you were attracted (but then again, with a setting of previous life given at the beginning it just feels weird) and the other one acts like a fanboy with inner screaming. Well, this developed into love etc.

You can watch it as a novel with very opposing states in the first and the second part. At first we have a disappointed in everything/everyone boy Xingsui, not loved and not cared and it transitions into what should be his dream family, where he is loved, cared for and appreciated, gains love and confidence.

About Anran. Tbh I am not a fan of novels that have a strong emphasis on "protagonist halo". It often makes things look brain-dead. And let me remind you, protag halo isn't equivalent to the will of heaven (this sh*t is way heavier and thus I dislike it even more, but at least some authors manage to create and write it in a way that no matter what happens protag will go through what should happen to them), protag halo's just a filter to me that helps people feel likable. But should be there so much emphasis on it though? And is it so unbreakable? The novel answers 'yes' and 'no' at the same time. Because people do feel likable towards Anran, but it doesn't prevent others from seeing his scheming. What I didn't like at these times when author mentioned - if it was a different situation or this person or that person didn't know this and that they might have a different opinion of him, but not now (e.g. Anran with the dumplings who meets Fu and Shen on the road, so both notice the boxes are the same with Xingsui). Protag halo my ass. I don't think anyone who can hold themselves with such conduct is "simple". After all entertainment isn't a place with naive people in my opinion. Would everyone looks at things with colorful eyeglasses? The truth of that auditioning should have been the fact that everyone who saw Anran's parents (two pairs) should have their own speculations right away, he talks about his poor life, but he is promoted and is protected by the program, he definitely has a background. While author describes these scenes as friendship and friendliness, to me it was dog licking or birds of a feather who flock together. Well, as every bad guy he gets what he gets, well deserved, his acting made me cringe for too long. <<less

I absolutely enjoyed reading the main chapters. I had to search for other sites for it, which never disappointed me. I internally squealed at MC and ML's interactions from the moment they met until the end. I also adored Sui Sui's biological family, especially the Second brother.

Though the plot is cliche especially the usual 'fake master vs true master' swapped at birth trope. I still enjoyed it nonetheless. AnRan annoyed the hell lot of me so I almost wanted to skip every chapter he was in. Good thing, I restrained... more>> it because every time he was "ignored" brought me satisfaction.

Spoiler

This is just my opinion. From what I understood of AnRan being reborn is that after ML knows about the truth, he made his life worst than ever. After all, AnRan's used the fact that Sui Sui's love for Mr. Fu as a fan. Feeling betrayed, Mr. Fu alienated on AnRan and so on. When AnRan had no choice but to marry another wealthy person, his life became worst. I got a feeling that when Sui Sui returned, it was also the time AnRan returned, as well. The moment I read a certain part of the novel at the beginning. I suspected he returned and I was right when I read the part he said he was reborn.

[collapse]

The only thing I want to learn was what happened to Mr. Fu after he found out the truth, though. I kind of want to see his perspective on that. Like the scene of coming inside the Jian House and finding Sui Sui's room. Basically, the "knowing the real truth" part when AnRan admitted that the room full of Mr. Fu's album belongs to Sui Sui.

I have yet to read the extras and I'm waiting for it. The site I read the rest of the main chapters doesn't have the extras. <<less

Almost backed away by the reviewer. And the fact that the rating only rated 4 and no more. That was slightly worrying. But I'm glad I still chose to read this and not disappointed!

I think why the rating wasn't high enough was because our MC is a Timid person. When there's a lot of Vengeful or Indifference or Confidence Protagonist out there in many Second Chance novel, our MC was much different compared to those Brave MC.

But this MC's personality what make him somewhat relatable to people like me I... more>> guess. I don't find his Timid personality annoying. He's NOT Coward. He just Insecure and has Inferiority complex because the life he had gone through. The Angst he had felt and died from it literally.

And even after he get this Second Chance, it wasn't a Smooth Beginning. He was disappointed more by the Also-Not-Biological Parents. It's good thing he create friendship with other people and the butterfly effect where ML get to support him, so he doesn't go depressed more.

So yeah, the story at the beginning was the true Emotional Rollercoaster before the Real Family Revelation happen. After that, it was so much better and we can finally breathe in relief.

I Love how the family things was major plot in this novel and not just the development between MC and ML. Because MC's family is Precious and Lovely and the whole thing is just so Heartwarmingly Good!

Also, beside the Villains or Greedy bad people, no one is bad characters here. MC and ML, and their family painted in Colorful way. They're not boring. They're not just Goody-goody either. Nor they're Vicious or Close-minded. I'm pleasantly surprised!

Anyway I pray so hard the rest of the story is satisfying!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Finished at 30 July 2023:

I'm pretty happy with the ending and the extras. I'm soooo glad the author didn't write any angst on the extras. The extra did 90% fullfil the good needs. But yeah, it's not perfect. But still well Satisfying! The Shen family still the best!

ML being great till the end of the story and in the extras. MC is Lovable till the end. So I'm happy!

All things revealed, so no hidden secret whatsoever.

Overall I LOVE IT For the Eternity and Beyond! <<less

More like 3 stars, but can't change now~

If you like smart novels / MCs, this novel isn't for you. And it's not that ML is super smart, he is regular - it's the other characters that are just... a little silly, not so smart. MC spend halftime of the novel dazed or looking at ML before deciding anything. And the villain is not smart at all, he just have a buff that seems to lower people's IQ every time he pretends to be pitiful. That way the villain convinced many... more>> people that MC is a bad person even without evidence.

I takes about 40 chapters (not precisely) to finish the idol competition and MC learn that the couple who raised AnRan (villain) are not his biological parents. And it doesn't happen like the sinopse described it:

Spoiler

Instead of this couple coming out clean about what happened, MC finds out by accident.

The fake mother didn't want to tell MC because they stole babies and MC is from a strong family. By this point the fake father is sick and dying.

AnRan spread the info about their circumstances (baby switched) and also found a way to spread the rumors about MC bullying him. He also promised to look for an organ donor for the fake father, but never really did. So, to finish MC, after ignoring the couple for a while, AnRan went to visit them and act pitiful and filial. Instead, the fake mother confronted him about he ignoring them, not visiting them and spreading fake rumors about MC (because at this point MC is the one taking care of the couple and with a bad reputation he can't make money for them). AnRan gets mad and shows his real face, confessing MC never bullied him, but also accusing fake mother of lying about MC being her biological son. MC heard it all and the whole thing was streamed by someone else.

[collapse]

about the babies switched:

Spoiler

The couple had a baby, but the baby died. Fake father switched the dead baby with MC and the mother switched MC and AnRan.

Dead baby went to MCs biological family, MC went to Jian and AnRan went to the couple.

they switched two times because fake mother and fake father acted separately.

[collapse]

About the romance:

Spoiler

I have no idea why ML fell in love. I always felt that the main reason is because MC knows a lot about ML, things from when ML was not famous yet and apparently almost no one else knows despite ML being super famous now. And then other things like MC being too silly, too s*upid, etc. A rare pure person in the middle of the dirty, it seems.

MC fell in love pretty fast. At first he decided to be away from ML because ML originally was meant to be with AnRan and anything related to him may leads MC to his death. He said that, yet, he never really avoided ML or tried to stay away. ML treated him so specially, it's so obvious, yet, MC never realized - the author really exaggerated MCs lack of awareness.

Funny (or not so much) thing, even after ML acted all different with MC, he still said he had no intention to marry and that no one attracted him (after the idol competition). He shows interest, then deny, then ask someone else's help with MC, get jealous and then refuse a relationship. He sometimes seems to know he likes MC, he sure act like he does, but when push comes to shove, he steps back just to go back in track right after.

Right now MC is kind of annoying me, he is even crying because ML burned his finger and cut pineapples later without telling him. He didn't even cried when people were telling him to die, he had no money and fake father dying. And while the author may say that he is like this because he doesn't care about himself and only about others, honestly, I don't buy it. To me, when MC cried about something ML was enduring and fine, MC made this about him (just like when AnRan acted pitiful) because people will naturally console the crying guy and not the one who is truly hurt. I mean, why are you crying when the real hurt person is enduring? Sorry if it sounds too harsh, but that's just my opinion. A nun once told me that we shouldn't sit in the "victim's little chair" when you're not a victim or shouldn't / doesn't want to be tagged as such.

EDIT: and then, when their relationship is finally clear, MC convinced ML to hide their relationship and he said he is not ready to tell his family just yet (while some of them are more than ready to hear about this). I mean, MC is really good shooting his own feet.

[collapse]

and while I rant a lot, I'm enjoying the novel hahaha. You just really need to, you know, turn on the suspension of disbelief to the max and not expect anything truly smart. <<less

It's hard to read because you really feel for MC because he keeps being beaten down by the antagonist and the family and it does make you want to quit but hold on until Ch 43 ... more>>
Spoiler

that's when it gets revealed to everyone, and I mean like the whole world, that MC was swapped at birth and was the actual victim of Anran's bullying and that Anran is a green tea lotus bit*h - it's super satisfying to read the confrontation and truth being revealed in the best (for MC) /worst (for Anran) way

After rebirth, MC is heartbroken previous life. Everyone seems to naturally hate him. He doesn't need to do anything, yet he gets pitted. He lack... existence. As if he died, he won't mind. Yes, he is depressed (tho the text doesn't say it, it's obvious). He cries. Gets hurt, yet still has a little expectation that someone... anyone show some warmth.

I don't like this kind of behavior. But, I understand. I've experienced it.

Anyways, we are dependent on ML to carry the novel. I'm glad. MC lacks... purpose, a reason... more>> to live. This kind of MC isn't suited for novel progression. Especially when the plot isn't much either. Ah, just realized I don't really like the novel. Just MC reminds me of myself. <<less

The first half of the book was pretty good but it just started to drag on. There were so many scenes of the MC in a variety show that got boring.

I couldn't bring myself to finish it. It just a lot of filler scenes. I skipped to the end and gd they were still filming a variety show. The romance was slow and kept getting cut off by the variety show scenes, which were boring.

I really love this novel I would have rated it five stars if it weren’t for a few things mainly inconsistencies or things that felt like after thoughts. Overall the novel was a lot of fun and definitely a reread contender. I was laughing, squealing, crying and face palming throughout the novel. You really grow attached to the characters.

first off I love the leads. Suisui is my baby 🥰 poor kid is too selfless I wish he was a bit more selfish because that would have helped him out in... more>> the long run and would have saved us a bit of time. He’s always thinking of others first and putting himself down because of how he grew up. With help from ML and his family he slowly does grow more confident but unlike other return to bio family books, the insecurities that he has weren’t instantly cured by reuniting or falling in love. It was still there, still affecting him even if he was improving. Same goes for his bio mom, being reunited with her “dead” child didn’t change the fact she still mourned a loss for years and suffered mentally.

FJX is also fun. He’s a black belly cold to everyone else but a flirt and a fox you our bunny Suisui. He’s so doting and supportive without really sickeningly sweet dogfood or being overbearing (at least in my opinion) he does trust his partner even if he has distrust in others and is willing to let him suffer hardships (like any other newbie in the entertainment industry but not like illegal stuff lol) but is also makes it clear that he’s around to help if MC needs it. Both of them made my heartache with their pasts 😭

Suisui while reborn didn’t set out to take back things and get revenge. He just wanted to succeed and have a good life unlike the bad end he suffered. Sometimes he had good things happen to him other times bad but it was a journey of growth. I wish there were more scenes with his bio family but at least he did spend time with one of his brothers since they were in the same industry. It was cute seeing the facial paralysis men struggle to show affection but still wanting to show it and be loved in return meanwhile the expressive people in their family just have it easier and get more attention from Suisui. He does his best to let them know he cares for them all.

I think if the author could come back and polish up the novel it would be a better read. Sometimes the author forgets little details because the cast of characters is big and the translator would have to add a line or two reminding people of a character being there. Especially in the survival show bits. I think there could have been a bit more excitement with them because they felt flat at times or like it was just a repeat. I liked it better when Suisui wasn’t always winning haha but that was attributed to FJX doting on him making it a bit easier to be the big winner even if he lost smaller challenges. He had good friends that kept coming back to the shows and weren’t just one off and even had to confront ghosts from his pasts.

I did like Anran as a villain. I mean he’s awful but it’s been a while since I read a BL where the villain isn’t a big bad that they have to fight to the death. Anran in more in line with vicious female villains in hetero dog blood novels.

im about to rant in the spoilers about some wishes I had for the book and the inconsistencies that were plot related.

Spoiler

Anran was reborn as well though unaware that Suisui was. He didn’t really put much thought into why Suisui made different decisions. I wonder if he had realized would he have tried to recreate the moments that were originally him and FJX. He really just kept assuming that him and FJX were fated if only he could side step the original blunder that made FJX stop loving him. Which wouldn’t have been possible because the few things that might’ve attracted FJX to him didn’t happen and once you see a genuine pure boy next to a fake rotten hearted one I doubt he would have liked him.

FJX did seem to have an interest in him in the OG time line but I think it was based of Suisui’s collection of FJX merch/knowledge that Anran used. Considering after anran showed him the collection and mentioned the owner’s death in the OG timeline that FJX turned cold. Suisui was a Big Name Fan of FJX and always sent supportive messages since the beginning of his career 😭 FJX always had a soft spot for him (even though they didn’t know each other IRL) and probably felt disgusted by Anran using it to his advantage but we’ll never know because there was no extra based on it I wish we did get to see that time time just for that little bit of drama.

the extras were nice. It should not all of their relationship was smooth sailing sometimes they lacked communication and other times they made assumptions but things worked out and they have faith and love for each other. I also liked that we got to see them older not just a few years later but around a decade or two. That a bit rare. They did have a what if extra which was cute the reverse of the original chasing dynamic rather than sly big bad wolf x shy insecure bunny it was more of a sunshine x grumpy but in the end Suisui worms his way into FJX’s heart while FJX always likes teasing Suisui. There was even a reunion scene that happened when Suisui was young with his bio family at an amus**ent park but they didn’t know till they reunited again.

again I wish there was an extra about the OG timeline or even this version of FJX going into that timeline to see the aftermath and possibly get revenge there. I’ll be honestly I did not care for the reveal since I don’t think Suisui was aware he did it and FJX took it too easily. I wish he did have a little doubt of it just so a sober Suisui could use his own words and tell it with sincerity rather than indirectly with the journal.

I know a lot of people were complaining about FJX being wishy washy with his response to Suisui’s confession. But I understand. He was a lonely child, grew without his bio mom and his dad was more focused on the business leaving him to the care of his stepmom. His mom died without her husband by her side during a dangerous birth bc his dad focused on business (and perhaps he was cheating with stepmom I felt weird like the stepmom after discovering this detail) I can see he has some trouble with relationships based on that.
FJX even says it himself that he had to rely on himself more for company and care than to his family. His only support and constant companion through the years was his little fan and that fan turned out to be the boy he supported in the moment. Even though he has mutual feelings, I think there was an underlying fear of change and unsure if he know what love is considering his father's past (though that's sad bc he has the shen couple as an example of a lasting love) his safe harbor now being at risk of disappearing if their relationship doesn't work out. But he takes that leap after sorting things out, realizing he’d rather risk it than lose Suisui to another. His proposal was honestly so sweet bringing in his friends into it. The bigger shock was him leaving the industry when he could have stayed to be the protective shadow for Suisui. But it made sense. FJX already achieved so much and he didn’t think he could go higher and he didn’t want to overshadow or make it seem like Suisui was riding his coat tails. As well as avoiding the fear of ruining FJX’s career affecting Suisui. Like they’re aware being in a relationship let alone a gay one could affect their fans/ career. They did lose fans but most accept them and even gave courage for other gay couples to be public. I wish there was a scene featuring Suisui trumpet account with FJX, while it did hint it in the story with FJX following the trumpet. I wanted to see a teasing old fox and a shy bunny maybe him being called empress by FJX or saying they were always fated but the moment with the love tokens was good too. Things aren’t always fated sometimes you need to work for it.

side note if the father did cheat he’s a scumbag. Like she was pregnant with your son and you left near her due date. You could have came back and you didn't and she didnt have her partner around to support her. Sidenote I think FJX grandma mentioned that they have single family (aka no outside relationships) so why was her son a scumbag huh??? And he says he gave him a stepmom as if that was compensation for all the loneliness and loss of his bio mom. Then the author forgets this detail later and says FJX didn’t have a stepmom till his teen years and not when he was 2 if you’re going to have another author writing an extra at least proof read it to make sure it falls in line

I thought this was ok. Was planning on reading it as a buffer until I got bored before reading another heavier novel but ended up finishing it LOL.

The MC and ML are ok, the antagonist is very dramatic, the face slapping parts are ok, but nothing that really stands out... in the main story. The extras, however, had me cry a bit and definitely bumped the rating up for me. Probably won't be rereading ever but I definitely won't forget it. Overall probably a 5/10 (rounded it up!)
